problem history:
12/22/20008 mileage 23,042 unable to shift, car stalled out, no start, electrical problems
(replaced shifter & cable to transmission)
07/1/2009 mileage 34,976 electrical problem with door locks, radio not working,
07/20/2009 mileage 36,063 electrical problems & radio works intermitten, lights keeping fluttering, battery keeps going dead & a new battery was put in already. (draw test indicate power draw, radio not going to sleep replaced radio). Dealership has been servicing vehicle on regular basis ,2010 electrical problems still happen and even more when weather is cold. We keep replacing the battery. . . But why should I need to put a new battery in every year, …Jeep has had intermitten electrical problems since day one, lights, radio, no start , problems
my research I have found other customer complaints with this problem. . . . And I found service bullentins that claimed they should have replaced the control module, wiper motor, tcm, pcm. This is just plain wrong,. . . Got cold. . . Put in another new battery. Still having the same problems as day one. . . . . This makes me mad. Problem still exisit and now it is out of extended warranty. Current mileage 74,623 and putting in another new battery 2011
Jeep should fix this problem. . . . Dealers know about it and claim its a intermitten problem with Libertys. . . How about a fixing it. . . .

Jeep Liberty 2002 has vibration in the steering wheel that makes controlling the Jeep very difficult at speeds over 60 miles an hour. Then I was on the freeway and I had a total loss off power all most causing accidents the dealership said that the engine needs to be torn apart and inspected and a recall of ball joints done the work took them over a year and the problem still continues their is no warranty and I was charged for the recall repair work I asked for the inspection report showing the work on the engine heads and recall work done when I picked up my Jeep they gave me an invoice that showed battery and sparkplug for $2085. 00 failing to present me with reports I asked for they said all work is warranted for 1yr 12,000 miles I drove the Jeep Liberty back to service dept after having another facility look at the engine to confirm if work had been done it had not been touched reported the mechanic and I am now scared to drive or own this vehicle .

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. He stated that he had to disconnect the battery to tow the vehicle behind a mobile home, per manufacturers instructions. As a result, there is no power and the auxiliary braking system was inoperable. The contact stated that the auxiliary braking system has to be operable per state law. The manufacturer stated that he must follow the instructions regardless of the law. The current mileage was 500 and the failure mileage 10. Updated 03/06/08.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty 4x4. Immediately after purchasing the vehicle in October of 2007, the gears failed to shift once placed into park. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the failure was due to an electrical spike. The contact was also informed to unhook the battery, leave it off for five minutes, and the gears would shift properly. The failure has occurred four times since taking the vehicle to the dealer. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer have been notified. The current mileage was 17,194 and failure mileage was 3,000. Updated 11/07/08. The consumer stated the dashboard lights and cruise control did not work. The consumer disconnected the battery and re-connected it and everything is working fine. Updated 11/07/08.
Without warning the body control module shorts out draining the battery and damaging the multi-control switch on the steering column. Causing the headlights, interiorlights, running lights, windshield wipers, factory electric door locks, and dashboard lights to fail. This can cause a fire resulting in a total vehicle loss or loss of lighting at night while driving causing the driver to loose sight of the road. In rain conditions loss of wipers during driving would cause loss of visibility creating a dangerous driver on the road.
Our Jeep Liberty has had the left rear window repaired 3 times and it fell down again yesterday. The right rear has been repaired twice. The sunroof repaired once and the battery/electrical repaired three times. This doesn't count the windshield repaired twice because of leaks. I t appears the windows fall down about every 3-4 months.
