Dash Wiring Problems of Jeep Liberty

On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at approximately 8:30pm both my husband and I got in our 2006 Jeep Liberty with only 9,188 miles to drive home. Upon turning on the vehicle we turned up the air conditioner and heard a grinding sound. Unsure of what the noise was, my husband turned down the air for a moment. As he turned the air back up the blower fan fell out of the dashboard and into the foot area of the passenger front seat where I was sitting. The blower fan was still turning as it made contact with my feet because it did not detach from the electrical wiring. The blower fan continued running until my husband shut off the vehicle. Due to the fact that I was wearing sandals when the blower fan fell out of the dashboard my toes were severely lacerated and suffered abrasions. These injuries required me to seek medical attention. Due to this injury I have had to miss work, as it is not possible for me to wear shoes, stand for any length of time, or sit without elevating my feet. This incident along with other multiple faulty window components, all of which are warranty items, cause us concern. Particularly since the blower fan was a recalled part and had recently been replaced. We no longer feel that this vehicle is safe to operate and have contacted Chrysler headquarters customer service call center for assistance and are awaiting an inspection.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that her vehicle may overheat and cause an interior fire. She stated that the temperature gauge on the dashboard was rising. The dealer has not received the parts yet to repair the vehicle, but will make the repair once they become available. The speed was unknown. The current mileage was 16,456 and the failure mileage was unknown.

My new 2006 Jeep Liberty caught fire while driving on I-15. The insurance investigator indicated it was caused by a wiring problem and/or connector to the blower fan under the passenger side dash board. The car was towed to the salvage yard and investigated by gmac insurance.

Front power windows fall out of track while going up requiring the driver to remove hands from the steering wheel to make correction. Windshield wipers which are supposed to be on their own fuse according to manual quit working if the radio fuse blows.

Tempurature gauage indicates vehicle is overheating. Chrysler says vehicle will not overheat, the problem is in the gauge. No known repair for the problem. It is still unknown if it is a gauge or engine problem.

Major electrical problems. . . . Dash went dead, wipers dead, power door locks dead, tail gate latch released, no headlights, no speedometer, all shut off while driving in the rain at night at 65 mph.

Radio/cd player quit working and the display blinks on and off with radio turned on or off and noticed a clicking sound from within the dash. Also from time to time the dome light would come on without intervention.

I got recall for dash board under steering column stating it needed to be fixed because of possible problem of falling off while driving causing a major accident. . Took vehicle in for recall. One week later while driving, the dash board under steering column fell off and landed on my feet. I had to stop my vehicle in the road to remove dash. Returned to dealership and complained. They put piece back on. Now, approximately two months later the same piece fell off again. If this is a recall, the fix is worse than the original !!!!!.

While traveling at 75 mph consumer states the panel under the steering wheel fell onto the drivers feet. Consumer states took to dealer and dealer stated the knee bolster packing plate fell off. Cause is unknown. Ts.
