Ignition Module Problems of Jeep Liberty

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. Also, while the vehicle was in motion, the windshield wipers would activate, the horn would sound, the door locks would lock and unlock on their own, and the vehicle would not shift or exceed 20 mph. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the electrical system and totally integrated power module caused the failures. The mechanic also stated that the failures would occur with no key in the ignition. The dealer (ed voyles Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, 789 cobb pkwy se, marietta, GA 30060, (844) 715-5921) stated that since there was no recall they could not assist. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired for the exact same failures back in 2016. The manufacturer stated that there was only a twelve month warranty on the original repairs performed in 2016. The failure mileage was 105,000.

1st incident occurred in March 2013. I was driving to work in a 25mph zone. Suddenly, the horn started beeping, windshield wipers (front and rear) were going, washer fluid was pouring out, power door locks where going on and off. Had to pull over because I could not see with the fluid spraying out at full speed. I turn the car off and removed key from the ignition and this continued to go on for 5 minutes. Brought the car to manfredi dealership. They replaced the tipm module which was very costly. A year and 1/2 later on may 18, 2015, I experienced the same exact problem. There is definitely a major flaw with this part. It's extremely dangerous when this occurs on a highway/turnpike doing the speed limit. This part should be recalled immediately. I should not be responsible to pay for yet another tipm. When I called the dealer they explained it's only a 1 year/12 months guarantee, but this part should last at least 5 years. Really???.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start when the key was inserted into the ignition and turned to the "on" position. The lights on the dashboard would illuminate, however the vehicle would not start. The contact also stated that the doors would not lock properly due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer for diagnostic testing and both stated that the key was not communicating with the module in the ignition or vise versa. The mechanic stated that the vehicle needed a new key or the ignition module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000. The VIN was not available.

Numerous mechanical problems all dash lights come on at once between 15 - 50 mph dealer replaced body control module lights still come on now has more problems after repair by dealer. Several recalls on this leased vehicle running up miles back 2 dealer rear window fall down repaired motor tried 2 quit 3 times could be dangerous in traffic seems it loses prime on fuel system . Also excessive tire wear on front tires had it aligned myself was out from factory 10 deg. I have no confidence in dealer 2 fix since I have more problems after last visit. Horn doesn't sound on key pad door lock and fog lights stay on at highbeam after electrical work. Vehicle has locked me out when I shut doors 4 no apparent reason switch keys in ignition and motor running.

A body control module was defective causing loss of almost all the elec ent (door locks, air conditioning, and speedometer). This part was replaced twice after 18 days in the service dept and still is not operational. A car with items like the speedometer not working is unsafe.
