36 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

The 2012 Jeep 4 door Wrangler had the abs control module internal error failure, this makes the car unsafe to drive. The dealer cannot get repair parts, the car is un-repaired since October 2025. Further, they cannot source the chips for the components, the make cannot provide a delivery date. (unknown when this will be rectified. Other years of this car have been recalled for this issue. This year has not yet. Please help us !).

37 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/27/2025

My husband was turning left from one highway to another highway when a car who was trying to pass multiple vehicles behind us hit us on drivers side as we were turning causing my 2021 Jeep to be pushed completely off the road and into a ditch where we hit a large pole/electrical pole. We hit the pole so hard that it moved it. Our air bags did not deploy at all. I got a notification on my Jeep app stating that there was airbag failure. My husband and my body were shook pretty bad from the incident and could have been seriously injured due to the impact. Our Jeep was towed to the body shop and they stated the gentleman working there told my husband that our airbags should have deployed.

39 Air Bag problem of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/13/2025

Component/system that failed: the airbag system, forward-collision sensors, and collision-warning/braking system failed. Despite a severe frontal crash, no airbags deployed and no warning or automatic braking occurred. The bosch crash data report shows abnormal sensor spikes (up to +52g), inconsistent delta-v readings, and failures in object detection (“no object” recorded before impact). The components remain available for inspection through the body shop and insurer. Safety risk: my family and I were injured because the vehicle provided no warning, no crash avoidance, and no airbag deployment during a major impact requiring a full frame replacement. This failure places all Jeep 4xe drivers at risk of severe injury or death in similar conditions. Has the problem been reproduced? the problem occurred unexpectedly during the crash and cannot be safely reproduced. However, stellantis’s inspection did not explain the sensor irregularities or system failures. Vehicle inspections: the vehicle has been inspected by stellantis (file 94277361), my insurance company, and the collision repair center. Stellantis claimed “insufficient deceleration,” which contradicts the severity of damage, sensor data irregularities, and the fact that the other vehicle’s airbags deployed. Warning lamps/symptoms before failure: for weeks before the crash, the Jeep produced false crash warnings, beeping, and forward-collision alerts with no obstacles present. During the actual impact, all warnings stopped, and the system failed completely. This sudden shift from false alarms to total silence suggests a sensor or module defect. Urgency: multiple active recalls already affect this vehicle line. I fear this Jeep is unsafe to drive even after repairs. I am requesting NHTSA’s urgent assistance and investigation into this failure to prevent further injuries.

40 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/13/2025

Took to two shops for the air bag light on dashboard. They told me this is a known issue with the clockspring and I should check for recalls. My VIN shows no open recalls, but because this is a known issue with a previous recalls, I believe recurring issues should be assessed and repaired under the ongoing recall.

41 Air Bag problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

On September 2, 2025, while driving at 65 mph, I lost control of my vehicle three times. The traction control light came on each time, creating a serious safety risk to me and others. The issue appears to involve the airbag clockspring/steering column assembly, matching symptoms reported under safety recall 27b (rc-27b-24). My VIN is not currently included in the recall. Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram opened case #94164354 and advised me to submit this so my VIN can be added. The part is available for inspection. My car is not drivable at this time due to the safety issue.

42 Air Bag problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

I have brought my vehicle in for 3 time for the dealership to take a look at europe messages I have received. It is currently with them right now. As the start stop function is now not working. This happened while in the dealers possession and was working normally prior to me being it into the dealership. They said they repaired a vacuum leak. After the apportionment I noticed the start stop function wasn’t working and it said battery charging. I took my vehicle on a long drive to charge the auxiliary battery, but nothing changed. I brought the car back to the dealership and they are now saying they are not responsible as a battery can drain at any time. I have asked for dates on their obd scans but they either do not have them or are unwilling to provide them to me. I asked what systems the auxiliary battery affects other than the start stop function. They told me seat belts, dash lighting and obviously emission because the vehicle will not start and stop the way it is supposed to, and continues to run while sitting at a light or stopped in traffic. I am currently waiting on results regarding the start stop function.

43 Air Bag problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/07/2025

The clock spring has failed. There is a current recall for the clock spring mechanisms in the 2011-2016 Jeep Wranglers. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic who informed me of the recall to begin with. The fuse for the clock spring (along with all the other fuses) are working as normal. There was no warning lights prior to the clock spring failure (however, I've been told that it's normal). The issue arose on 08/07/25. The 'step' button, 'reset' button, channel change paddle, volume change paddle, and the horn don't work. The airbag also might not work (haven't tested it out frankly). The cruise control buttons seem to work however I don't use cruise control in this vehicle. The vehicle is a 2017 rhd Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport.

44 Air Bag problem of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

On August 4, 2025, while being operated in an ordinary and careful manner, the newly-purchased vehicle experienced an episode of sudden unintended acceleration, lurching forward uncontrollably and slamming into a tree. Then, as the driver attempted to back up, the vehicle charged forward and struck the tree again. The vehicle's driver airbag never deployed despite sustaining two head-on collisions which ultimately rendered the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle's manufacturer hired an "independent" inspector to inspect the vehicle. They found "no manufacturing defects" and blamed "human error" for the incident.

45 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bag might not deploy in a crash. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 18v021000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 70,450.

46 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

My 2013 Jeep Wrangler rubicon, has a non-functional horn and steering wheel controls, including cruise control and audio buttons, which stopped working in. I suspect a faulty clockspring, as these symptoms match issues in prior Jeep Wrangler recalls for 2007-2012 models (NHTSA campaign 11v528000), where clockspring failures also disabled horns and risked airbag malfunctions. My vehicle shows. This poses a safety risk, as the horn is critical for avoiding collisions. No repairs attempted yet, but similar complaints appear online from other 2013 Wrangler owners. Please investigate for a potential recall.

47 Air Bag problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

I turned the key to turn on my car and the airbag deployed.

49 Air Bag problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/13/2025

Side impact and full 6 rollovers, with damage to front. During an accident on 6/13/25. I took pictures if you need them.

50 Air Bag problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/10/2025

I recently got into an accident in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. My airbags never deployed however. Also my buttons on the left side of my steering wheel do not work and my horn does not work. After realizing all this I believe it is an issue with the clock spring. I did research and found in 2024 there was a recall for the clock spring but only in the rhd model. My car is a lhd model but it seems the same issue has occurred and my clock spring failed.

51 Air Bag problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon attempting to alert a gateman using the horn, the horn failed to function. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the clock spring. The contact was informed that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v288000 (air bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 106,000.

52 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealership (hendricks Chrysler Dodge birmingham, al) for a full diagnostic inspection, and at that time I was told everything was fine. There were no warnings, no notes about electrical issues, airbags, coolant leaks, engine leaks, or any of the major concerns now being reported. On my most recent visit (October 2025), the dealership suddenly reported multiple “immediate attention” failures, including: • airbag system issues • electrical system failure • coolant system leak • water pump leak • engine oil separator leak these items were never mentioned during my previous full diagnostic despite being safety-related components that typically show symptoms or codes. Because these new issues involve critical components like the airbags, engine, and electrical system, my safety was put at risk. I have been driving the vehicle daily under the belief that it had passed a full diagnostic months earlier. If these problems really existed at that time, then I was unknowingly operating an unsafe vehicle. If they did not exist, then the sudden appearance of multiple major failures raises concerns about incorrect diagnostics or improper prior inspection. I have not received any warning lights except the airbag light. The dealership has not provided a clear explanation as to how these issues appeared only months after a full inspection. This has caused significant concern regarding vehicle safety, diagnostic reliability, and whether the previous inspection was performed correctly. I am requesting NHTSA review because the dealership failed to identify or disclose major safety-related failures, which has potentially placed me in danger without any warning.

53 Air Bag problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

The clock spring has been identified as being bad, (nothing in the steering wheel works). I have owned it for 5 years and it hasn't worked for at least 3-4 of those years. I don't know if it has been replaced. . . However, for something that is a safety concern, such as the airbags, I would think that it would work longer than 1-2 years. . . If it has been previously replaced. I can't find any records of it. The air bag lights have been on for a few years; I thought it was normal. I wasn't aware of any recalls on the clock spring/air bags until recently.

55 Air Bag problem of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/19/2025

Was driving to work and the car failed to let me know I was going to hit something and I swerved into another lane creating a crash into a telephone pole and then into a pond/swamp area. The airbags did not deploy and I was going about 40 mph I suffered neck back and bruises to my arms. I am suffering servers neck pain. The car filled with water. The car did say it detected a crash but no air bags deployed after the telephone being straight in the middle. The car was totaled. Nothing appeared. No warning signs. I believe the car has been taken to salvage. If I had the air bags go off I would not have been hurt as bad with my neck back and arm pain. It was thrown violently.

56 Air Bag problem of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/18/2025

The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while her husband was driving through an intersection at 40 mph, another driver ran a stop light and crashed into the front driver's side of the vehicle. The other driver's vehicle went underneath the contact's vehicle as the contact's back tires drove over the other driver's engine. The other driver admitted fault due to distracted driving. The contact stated that no air bags deployed inside the vehicle; however, the other vehicle did have the air bags deploy. The contact and her husband were seen by paramedics at the scene of the accident. The contact later sought treatment from her doctor, where an mri was performed, which showed that the contact had suffered a concussion. The mri also showed that the contact had suffered a traumatic brain injury, as white matter changes were found in her brain. In addition, the contact was informed that parts of her vertebrae were also damaged, which required surgery. The surgery involved a bone fusion of bone c5 to c6 and a disc replacement of bone c4 to c5. The contact mentioned she was a registered nurse for 25 years, and due to the severity of her injuries, she can no longer return to her profession. The contact's husband was also treated by his doctor for a dislocated right wrist. The injuries of the other driver were unknown if any; however her father, who was a police officer, picked her up from the scene of the crash. A police report was filed. As a result of the accident, the vehicle was totaled and was towed to an independent wrecking yard. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

57 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

In March 2015 the bas esp (traction control and stability light)warning light came on. It stayed on for several miles and then went off. This happened numerous times. On April 23, 2025 parker automotive service center removed the steering wheel and replaced the clockspring. In may the bas esp again came on, parker automotive recalibrated the clockspring which has the steering angle sensory built in. In Aug 2025 the bas esp light again came on and on August 14, 2025 parker automotive replaced the clockspring under warranty. In September 2025 the bas esp came on again. On October 2 2025 parker automotive found a safety recall m31/NHTSA 13v-176 airbag system clockspring and advised me to go to the Jeep dealer. Which I did and was told my vehicle was not among the recalled ones. Research shows that m31/NHTSA was replaced by s40/NHTSA. My records show that I “paid” larry h. Miller Chrysler Jeep tucson to replace the clockspring-steering column controls ten years ago on October 22, 2015. It is concerning that when the bas esp warning light is on the airbag will not deploy. Does the recall need to be expanded to include additional vehicles? the clockspring in my vehicle has been replaced now 3 times.

58 Air Bag problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/25/2025

The airbag light is staying on, the horn is not working, inoperable steering wheel buttons (for switching between dashboard options like mileage, temperature, and information) as well as radio and cruise control buttons. Occasionally, all dashboard lights will come and and flicker, the dome light and all interior lights will flicker as well for a few seconds. I believe the Jeep is affected by the clockspring issue covered by s40 / NHTSA 16v-288. However, because my VIN is not connected with this recall, no manufacturer service center will address it.

59 Air Bag problem of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/07/2025

I received a safety warning about my air bags specifically via my Jeep app on my iphone about 1 1/2 hours after I had been rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident. The rear-end impact pushed me into a van in front of me. The safety notice notified me to take my 2022 Jeep in to have the air bags checked. There were no prior warnings. I am concerned as to whether or not the air bags should have employed upon impact. My seatbelt did totally lock into place after impact, but the air bags did not activate. My vehicle is currently still being repaired at a collision service, per the direction of my auto insurance carrier.

60 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

66 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/29/2024

Unknown but my concern is the clock spring recall. I would like that fixed I don't understand why I can't have it fixed under the recall for my Jeep Wrangler 2 door. I am worried that the air bag won't work. . . Right now the horn and a few other controls on the steering wheel doesn't work. So I believe this vehicle is part of the recall.

67 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/26/2024

The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the contact's wife was driving at an uncertain approximately 45-90 mph, another vehicle merged in front of the contact causing the driver to swerve and the other vehicle crashed into the front driver-side tire and frame. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact stated that the vehicle was later towed to the insurance company's tow yard for inspection. The vehicle incurred damage to the front driver's side of the grill and the driver's side of the vehicle. I had someone cut me off on the highway, I went to honk my horn & it didn't work. I then also noticed that my steering wheel control buttons did not work, or light up either. Upon investigation I found out that those are all symptoms of the clockspring not working properly & needing replaced.
