I was driving down my residential street and my Jeep's windshield wipers started going off, my horn starting honking and my seat belt light came on. I continued to drive and 3 seconds later it did the same thing but this time it died and smoke started coming through my vents inside. I immediately put it in park and got out to get my son out of the back seat but my door shut behind me and all of the rest were locked. I immediately called 911 because I was watching the car fill with smoke with my 10 month old trapped inside. I was not able to unlock any of the doors until I got to the back hatch, where my key opened it up. I got my son out and about 60 seconds later, it started smoking worse and it turned to black smoke. About 30 seconds after that my car caught on fire. It all seemed to start under the hood on the passenger side of the car.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at an unknown speed, the steering wheel stiffened and became difficult to turn. In addition, the battery and overheat warning indicators illuminated and the temperature gauge increased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (frey motors at 409 valley st, lewistown, PA 17044) where it was diagnosed that the serpentine belt needed to be replaced and the air condition hose was fractured. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there was no recall in reference to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,580.

Driving on the interstate the all of the dash warning lights came on and blinked(abs, esc, traction control, brake, seatbelt) then the vehicle stalled causing loss of control. Luckily no vehicles around and I regained control after going in the median. Put in 4 wheel drive and got out. The vehicle then stalled again turning everything off including 4 way flashers when I stopped at a light. It was dark and the Jeep is dark green. I had a flashlight to warn other drivers. Very dangerous situation. I opened the hood and pounded my fist on the main fuse box. After 3 minutes the vehicle came to life and I started it to get off roadway.

While coming off the highway I noticed my engine make a 'clicking' noise, didn't soud too serious, but checked oil level and seemed to have been barely any oil in it. It was around scheduled oil change date, however took to a mechanic and he thought and assumed was the idler pulley and changed it. Drove it same night and was still making same noise. Took it back and he just spoke with a 'Chrysler service personnel' and stated "Chrysler had a bad engine casting for molding the engines and at high temperatures the engine itself will warp. " so not sure if this is true, and I do not have the money to take to a dealership and confirm.

Takata recall. Vehicle does not stay dry. Top has never been removed, t-top removed once, leaks, moisture condensation problem where a green house effect occurs regularly, mold grows quite rapidly Jeep has been in shop every winter season with moisture problems. Given back with assurance of not reoccurring. Every winter I return with same proble now dealership is refusing to help and has directed me to go elsewhere with a voicemail message on 8 February I am under the understanding any warranty work must be done at same garage why? am I being told they can not fix vehicle or help me? I am having electrical problems now too and I can't make an appointment because of persisting to hang up or refusing to direct me to management p 8 febuary I filed an attorney general complaint but they don't represent unless several have complained about the same issue. Failed to recognize the lemon law and are hostile to deal with. Electrical problem is driver seat belt signal does not turn off even though seat belt is fastened. While driving. Due to the amount of time addressing the warranty problem with dealership and an avoidance to replace I filed a safety complaint in 2014 since then nothing but continued problems and Jeep remains unfixed on the last visit an extra substance was put on floorboard on passenger side to indicate a hole had been fixed with putting a permanent compound called rhino plaster. When confronted I was told it came from the factory like that after researching I was informed it does in fact not. I filed an attorney generals complaint on 8 febuary 2017 and since December 2016 am not able to get to shop due to delays from dealership. I was put in contact with mr. Brown extension 2302 to explain hardships and in December 2016 not to mention not restoring my vehicle to factory specifications and putting a substance on my vehicle without permission. ".
While driving my Jeep 07 Wrangler the engine stalled at approximately 35 mph while driving. The radio went dead and the steering became very stiff for 2 seconds. The car then restarted by itself while still moving down the road. The dashboard lit up just as it does when I turn the car on and the seat belt chime sounded 5 times just like it does upon startup. Within 15 minutes the whole process occurred a second time with the same result. The car briefly stalled then restarted while driving down a highway. I have previously been in touch with a dealership and they told me that my VIN was not included in the recall for stalling engines but apparently they were wrong because this happened to me two times on one trip. I am going to stop by a different dealership and ask them to perform the tipm reset for me but want to alert others that their vehicle may be affected even though not listed in the recall notice.
2007 Jeep Wrangler problems with engine stalling. Consumer states that in order to restart the vehicle it must be in neutral before turning the ignition switch. Consumer states she would like the vehicle replaced. The seat belt retractor on the drivers side failed within weeks of owning the vehicle, there was a constant rattling noise coming from the pillar area, the drivers door did not close properly. The technician used a mallet or hammer to align the door striker. The consumer had to slam the door in order for it to close properly, even though there was no certainty the door was really closed. There was a possibility that the striker on the door could collapse while the vehicle was in motion causing the door to open. The vehicle also made a rattling noise while accelerating.
The seat belts in the back when buckling are locked. Making it hard to move around. Since day the I bought the car. Took it to the dealership for repair and they said they found nothing. Only after my warranties were up did they say they would fix the problem if I paid for the labor. The engine has an oil consumption problem also from the first day I bought it, the dealership has covered it up again until the warranty was expired. They found 5 leaky areas in the engine.
While driving on highway the Jeep Wrangler sahara 2007 model started to stall and hesitate, and dashboard lights flickered; engine light and seatbelt light came on; I pressed on the accelerator and the car kicked into gear and kept going.
2007 Jeep Wrangler sahara stalled unexpectedly on two occasions while driving at low speed. The first time in early March 2007 it was pouring rain and I went through a big puddle which sent water under the vehicle. The car cut off and all the dash light lit up, and the seat belt went off. The car started back up in about 2 seconds by itself. I have assumed the water shorted out for a few seconds and thought nothing else of it. The second time it happened was on June 10, 2007. We were slowing down at stop light and it just cut out. The dash lights came on , the anti-skid light and another red light) I though the car behind us rear ended us because there was a little jerk , rear tires locked. We had to restart to car. It started right up and we continued on. I haven't been to the dealer yet. I was researching the problem on the internet and saw there had been 53 reports of the same thing happening so I figured I should report it also.
While driving on the hwy at around 75-80 mph, the Jeep shut off, forcing both myself and passenger to fly towards the windshield. Â â luckily we had on our seat belts, otherwise I would have hit the steering wheel and probably wrecked, there were cars on both sides of us, very scary!!!. Â â after three or four seconds the Jeep came back on and ran great until the next time this happened, around 60 on hwy. Â â all electrical and engine turns off with no brakes, steering and panel lights. Â â this has happen three times and the dealership cannot duplicate the problem, so it goes unfixed. Â â I love the Jeep, but safety first.
Consumer stated the fuel tank had a cracked which caused fluid to leak out. The dealer was notified. The fuel tank had leaked since the owner purchased the vehicle at 39k miles. The fuel tank overflowed when filled in hot weather. Both the fuel tank nut replacement tank were difficult to obtain due to shortage. The tachometer and speedometer had become inoperative. The service dealer found a poor connection behind the cluster. The throttle sensor did not have a good seal in which moisture had gotten into it. The fuel tank corroded badly and the new tank nut was useless. The consumer replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the gas tank. The consumer requested reimbursement. Also the water pump serpentine belt, and battery were replaced.

While traveling on the highway without prior warning the vehicle shut down. The gauges malfunctioned (gas read empty), the vehicle jerked uncontrollably. Different mechanics were unable to duplicate the problem. The transmission leaked (there was pink fluid in the battery area), the belt pulley had fallen off and the vehicle overheated, and the battery failed.

I have only included the one date I can remember that Jeep was in the repair shop. But, to this date, after Jeep warms up and then is shut off for approx 20 minutes, it hesitates on acceleration. Dealer said couldnt duplicate problem. Oil gauge dropped to zero, then engine knocked & I shut off. Dealer said oil pressure ok, could not duplicate prob. It still drops below 20 sometimes, but not zero again. I have had manifold bolts replaced twice and catalytic converter replaced once. Water leaks on passenger side & drivers seat belt gets caught in door latch.
Replaced cranksahft/pulley.
Replaced serpentine belt.
When traveling at 55 to 60 mph vehicle cut off without warning. Vehicle would restart after few minutes. Dealer had been contacted.
