I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler, I have had it in the shop 4 times for cylinder misfires due to coil issues. Saturday 10/29/2016 I was driving down the interstate, the check engine light came on and started flashing the car was shaking so bad I pulled over instantly. I had to drive it to a safe place so I could call for a tow truck, the car over heated because of the coil misfire. This is an issue that has happened to more than just me. Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated when shifted into 4 wheel drive. In addition, the air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v290000 (air bags) and 16v352000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000. Tl-the contact owned a 2002 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle overheated and smoked started to emit from the engine compartment. The contact mentioned that after the driver attempted to inspect the vehicle by lifting the hood, it engulfed into flames. The fire department was contacted and no injuries were reported. The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle was serviced for the remedy associated with recall 09v436000 (power train: automatic transmission). Upon receiving the vehicle back from the authorized dealer, the contact stated that while driving for an extended period of time, an engine warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel while driving uphill. The warning light would display that the vehicle was over heating. The contact stated that the failure was not dependent upon the speed at which the vehicle was traveling. This failure occurred three times and was taken to an authorized dealership on each occasion where the computer was reprogrammed. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
