Engine Burning Oil Problems of Kia Motor Sportage

Car is rapidly burning oil and not dripping on ground. Recent activity: oil dipstick showed no oil on 01/18/2021 and took 3 quarts. It read full! on 01/25/2021. Service station reported out of oil again! oil light on dashboard did not light. Kia dealership advised an oil consumption test that will be reported to you. I think it is important for you note that this occurred 1000 miles into my regularly scheduled 3000 mile oil change. Our local service station indicated that this is a widespread problem for this car and litigation is being considered.

Was driving home alone from louisiana to mississippi and passed a car and car dies and all dash lights come on so I pulled over and turned off car and sat for a few minutes. I turned car back on and no dash lights came on and didn't hear any noise to indicate anything was wrong with vehicle so I continued on my trip being I was alone and in a rural area. Car ran normal for about 30 miles and car started slowing down to where there was no power and finally wouldn't go. Note: no engine lights came on at that time. Had it towed to my home (3) hours away, and my mechanic said the bearing are ruined and there's metal shavings in the oil and the oil has a burnt smell to it. I had oil changed regularly and that oil change had about 600 miles on it.

The engine has been burning oil since 2019. I told the service desk and they said a qt every 1000 miles is normal. It started to worsen. In January 2021 the did an oil consumption test. I drive to car for 957 miles and the dealership told me the car was down 2 qts of oil. They said they run the test again. They filled the car with what they said was the right amount. The next morning after getting my car back I checked the dipstick three times. The oil was a 1/2 inch over the fill mark I return the car with less the 1000 miles and this time they said it was only down a qt. And it was in manufacturers spec for consumption . I told them it was over filled so they said we will test it again. This time they told me to bring it back at 1500 miles. I have not reached that amount of miles yet . I worried about having catastrophic engine failure while I'm driving . They have already installed two transmission that were defective. I will supply any other documents you need .

Mid-December I noticed my car was skipping as I accelerated. I checked the oil and there was none. I had just gotten an oil change 10/26/19. I take the car in 12/23/19. They do another oil change and tell me as it gets low on oil to bring it in and they will track it. We do this a few times and covid happens. My bf brings the car in 7/31/20 and the mechanic states kia will no longer be doing oil consumption tests and would only see the car if something catastrophic occurs. Then plainly says do not add oil and let it blow it up. I return 8/3/20 to speak to the manager in charge and he confirms that it is kia's policy that they will not add oil anymore. Says he cannot give me the policy in writing. I said I had an oil change with you on 6/23/20 and today 8/3/20 my car doesn't have any oil in it and you won't look at it? he confirmed he would not look at it.

Kia Sportage 2017 began showing excessive oil consumption. It was taken to the local kia service station. The dealer performed an oil consumption test that showed, twice, that the vehicle consumed one and a half quarts of oil per 1,000 miles of use. It was taken for further analysis after confirmation of adequate oil change schedule and at 39914 miles. Motor was disassembled and after more than 3 weeks, diagnosis is uncertain. This problem may cause malfunction of internal parts and there may be a high probability of safety compromise on public highways.

2017 kia Sportage lx 2. 4l bought brand new and has been using oil. Car now has a little over 22,000 miles and is using 1. 4 quarts of oil during the 5000 mile dealership oil changes which have all been done at the dealership since purchasing new. The dealership acknowledges there is a problem with the engine after performing 3 oil consumption test however kia corporate considers the oil usage normal so they are declining to fix the issue since their "technicians" does not see this as a problem to cover under warranty. An internet search "kia oil consumption" found multiple complaints from other owners with the same issue and same response from kia.

So he star to used all the oil without reason the dealer check the motor ad say the motor burn the oil but he cannot find the problem so 2 day after I was running 80 km when the car turn on engine light im parking and turn off the car towing the car dealer say engine broke down because was no breathe, el mecanico dijo que el flujo DE motor DE aceite a los cojinetes e las bielas se desgatastaron y por ende fallo el motor.

After several complaints of rough idle, burnt oil and drive-ability issues starting at 7128 miles, 16066 miles, 21000 miles,22711 miles & 29356 miles, the engine was required replacement. After the engine was replaced (short block we were told), the brake assist system (bas) & the forward & rear collision warning system are intermittent in their operation. Randomly when sitting still the sensors will alert or when cross traffic (front or rear) the sensors fail to detect. This was a definite change of behavior since the engine was replaced. The local dealer said they checked it and after a few miles of driving declared it to be working properly. This random behavior occurs several times a day. .
