1 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 04/04/2021

My husband was returning home to oregon from the san francisco bay area and was driving 50 mph on the freeway when the car (2013 kia Sportage) began making loud knocking noises and immediately lost power. He was in the middle lane of the freeway when it lost power, making it incredibly unsafe and putting him in danger because the people behind him had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear-ending him. It was also very dangerous to try and move the car off of the freeway with other cars going by at 50+ mph. Fortunately, he was able to get the car off the freeway and pulled over whereupon the car died. He tried starting it again and it still had the very loud knocking noise and would not stay on. All of the warning lights on the dash lit up and the check engine light stayed on after he had turned the car off and then back on. After waiting for 3 hours for a tow, the car was finally towed to the closest dealer hilltop kia in richmond CA. My husband had to wait for close to a week to get the dealer to look at the car and once they did, they came back with an $11,000 estimate stating that the car needed the engine replaced, it was out of warranty because the 100,000 mile warranty only applied to the original owner, there was no recall on this car and kia would not replace the engine free of cost. We have learned that the engine in this car has a manufacturer's defect and that kia is not replacing these even though they know it's a defect of their own making. This has been incredibly stressful because the car only had 62,000 miles on it, and we kept up with all of the maintenance requirements. We still owe $3500 on a car that we can't even drive, the lowest we've been quoted to get it running again is $5000 which means that the cost of fixing it is equal to or more than the resale value of the car.

2 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 03/28/2021

I was driving home on the highway at approximately 60-65 mph, when a loud knocking noise started from under the hood of the car. The car suddenly died and we were able to merge out of traffic. Once the car died the engine light turned on. The car has 106,000 miles. Prior to this incident it had been serviced regularly, had no lights on, no leakage and nothing to indicate there was or would be a problem with the engine. I called kia coorperate who claims this specific VIN was not part of the 2013 kia Sportage engine recalls. There are 42 pages of consumer complaints with this almost identical scenario. Kia should be ashamed of what they are doing to people. This is a huge safety hazard with the vehicle dying suddenly at fast speeds and a huge financial burden. I am being quoted more then the value of the car to replace it with a used engine. Which very clearly will also have issues as these engines are faulty.

3 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 03/05/2021

My boyfriend and I were on my way to gatlinburg for my birthday weekend. Just made it into knoxville when my dashboard lights came on and the engine made a loud knocking noise and stopped. We barely made it to the side of the interstate (the left lane of I-75 in knoxville). My boyfriend stated that the engine just threw a rod. We waited 2 hours for a tow truck with tdot behind us for an hour and 1/2 for that. There was oil all over the road. We finally got towed to the kia closest to us. They ran my VIN and stated that isn't part of the recall because my engine isn't the gdi engine. So, even though 2013 kia Sportages are all having engine failure without warning in potentially dangerous situations for all of kia's customers, kia is doing nothing about it. My boyfriend works as a mechanic and submitted a PA and it was denied as well. If there are more than 100 customer's having issues with the same engine, then there should be a recall. This looks bad on kia, and it looks bad on the NHTSA for not issuing the recall due to safety. Had any of the numerous 250 complaints I have seen so far not been able to get out of the road, due to no warning, then I'm sure there would be a recall. But it shouldn't have to come to death before a recall is issued.

4 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

5 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 11/22/2020

I was driving to missouri there was a knocking from my car, I tried pushing on the gas but it wouldn't let the gasket to the engine so it wouldn't let me continue driving. I had to pull over and my dad and brother came to tow it to my dads town mechanic he said the barrings went out on the crank shaft. I was in the interstate. I found out there is a recall #17v-224 (metal debris may have been generated from factory machining operations as part of the manufacturing of the engine crankshaft which may not have been completely removed from the crankshaft's oil passages during the cleaning process. In addition, the machining processes of the crankpins caused an uneven surface roughness. As a result, the metal debris and uneven surface roughness can restrict oil flow to the bearings, thereby increasing bearing temperatures causing premature bearing wear. A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a cyclic knocking noise from the engine and may also result in the illumination of the engine warning lamp and/or oil pressure lamp in the instrument panel. If the warnings are ignored and the vehicle is continued the crank shaft going out and it could start a fire. ) this is exactly what happened to my car. I know the VIN # and the recall number does not match. I don't understand from what I read that there is a recall but not for my vehicle even though it says 2011 to 2013 kia Sportage. My engine hass to be rebuilt the parts alone are $2800 then it cost the mechanic to fix my car so it's going to cost a little over or under 5000$ I only owe 4000$. If I would've known this I would've traded my car in for the new kia Sportage. I really hope that someone can get a hold of me about this I don't see why I have to spend 5000 when there was a recall on exactly what happened to my vehicle.

6 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 11/14/2020

There is a knocking noise coming from my engine. I also lose power when I turn corners or when I slow down and go again. The knocking noise is not very loud but I can hear with the windows down. I took the vehicle to kia and they stated they couldnt replicate the issue. The engine was replaced for the same issue last year (2019).

7 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 10/20/2020

While driving around 50 mph on the highway all lights on the dash came on and vehicle stalled. Was able to coast safely off the road but upon starting the vehicle there was a knocking noise in the motor. Drove it on home which was less than 1 mile.

8 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 09/11/2020

My car has a knocking sound in the engine. The oil has been changed on a regular basis. This car has been well taken care of. Also 2 of the windows will not work.

9 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 09/07/2020

The vehicle was in motion on a highway and suddenly there was a loud banging sound. The oil, brake and engine light came on simultaneously. I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. I tried to turn the car back on but it just made a loud noise and would not turn on.

10 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/27/2020

While driving to work using city streets I heard a very faint and intermittent knocking sound when I would press on the accelerator. The same thing happened on the way home. So as my husband and I are leaving to go to the gym(2. 5 miles away) I told him the car is making a noise. The knocking was a little louder and steadier. Coming home the knocking was super loud and when I made my turn the car didn't have much power. L pulled into the carport and left the engine on so we could investigate and it was definitely coming from the engine. No engine light or oil light ever came on. I turned it off and had it towed to the royal kia dealership the next day. On Monday. The service rep called and said the engine seized due to the rod bearings failing. It would be $9600 to put in a used engine. I have 88,300 miles on it. The next day I left a message questioning if this would be covered by the powertrain warranty. He called back and stated that he "realized" late last night that it was covered by the warranty so kia will be replacing the engine with a brand new one at no cost.

11 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/17/2020

My car had been running perfectly, no engine lights or warnings, and then one day I drove to work and everything was fine, but when I left to go home that evening I heard a weird knocking noise that only got worse until I got home. I had it towed to my mechanic as soon as he had an opening, and after a lot of work he was finally able to find that the issue was spun rod bearings and that there were metal shards in my oil pan. After doing some research after finding this out I learned of the kia recall sc147, which was for this exact issue. I then contacted kia because my car did not show up on the warranty list on their website, and the customer service representative told me that my car was in fact not covered under this recall, even though it has the defect that they were recalling so many vehicles for.

12 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/08/2020

As I was driving at approximately 40 mph the car began to shake and make a knocking sound. I had to stop at a red light and the shaking of the vehicle continued. As I approached a very busy intersection the engine stop and I was no longer able to accelerate or maintain speed. I managed to make a right turn and coast into an empty lot just far enough that the car was not sticking out into the street. At that time I contacted kia and they sent a tow truck from a towing company unknown to me to have it towed to the closest kia dealership.

13 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/04/2020

I was driving on the highway between 70-75 mph when the motor failed. No lights came on, no warning until after it blew. There was a knocking sound about 10-15 second before I felt the engine gave out--I felt it under my foot in the pedal. I lost power immediately, I could steer but had no acceleration. I was extremely lucky to get the car out of traffic and to the side of the road. When it was towed to my mechanic, who have just completed an oil change a couple weeks previous, he stated the motor blew. He stated this him surprise because there was nothing wrong with it when he completed the oil change. I became aware of the motor recalls through a dealership mechanic that thought he could help and was shocked to read the exact things happened to many others. I attempted to work this out with kia and was inform my VIN was not covered under the recall. They refused to offer any assistance in resolving this. I am very lucky that this did not cause harm to myself or anyone else as this was a busy highway I was on, the results could have been catastrophic.

14 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

I have a 2011 kia Sportage. I received a recall letter from kia on 2019 that my oil pan needed replaced. The letter stated that if left unfixed it could cause damage to the engine. I took it to the kia dealer they replaced it free of charge. Several months after the car started to make a loud knocking sound from the engine. The car started to feel as if it would not fully go on excelration. I called the kia dealer several time. They notified me of a kia engine recall however told me the VIN number doesn't qualify. The service manager told me I could schedule a diagnostic test for the car but I would need to pay $150 service fee. I cancelled the appointment and scheduled with a private mechanic due to services manger telling me I am responsible for the fees. I was unable to take my car to my mechanic because the car stopped working the following morning. I was driving on the interstate and the engine starter bri make a loud knocking sound. The car just stopped on the interstate. When I pressed the gas to excelrate . I had the car towed to the kia dealer who told me the engine is stuck and was not worth replacing. My husband and I decided to leave the car at the dealership and followed up with kia consumer affairs. They 30 days later sent a letter that they will replace part of the engine but I would be responsible for the service fee around $2200 pretax. I don't feel this issue is handled appropriately. I believe the engine failed as part of the safety recall. The car is 2011 and had a defective oil pain until 2019. I believe this is what caused my engine to fail. I do not believe that kia has been honest about the recall or fairly handling the issues.

15 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

The contact owns a 2013 kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine which got progressively worse. A loud boom was heard and the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to royal kia located at 4333 e. Speedway blvd, tucson, az 85712, where it was diagnosed and the contact informed that the engine ceased. Metal shavings were found in the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

16 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/13/2020

I was driving home on the freeway when I began hearing a loud knocking noise coming from engine. I noticed that it became difficult for me to accelerate and felt as if the engine was going to break down on me right on the freeway. I drove it home but the noise got louder. No check engine light illuminated to signal a problem with the engine at all. I was able to research the problem and associated it with a recall #sc147 however our VIN was not under this recall however I believe that it definitely should be! we took it to the kia dealership which found that the noise was coming from the lower end crankshaft bearing and would require a brand new engine and would cost $6000-$9000 to repair. This is exactly what was described in the recall that I mentioned but does not for some reason relate to this recall. We are the first owners, have had the car for 7 years, get regular service on the car and only have 129,000 miles on it. We will not be repairing this vehicle.

17 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/04/2020

While driving down the street, my husband and I noticed a loud knocking noise coming from our kia that was exacerbated by him accelerating. We immediately stopped the car and noticed that hot oil was splashing up on the engine. This kia Sportage is a 2013 and only has 90,000 miles. We towed the car to the kia dealership and they said that we blew a rod. This is totally unacceptable considering how old the car is and less than 100,000 miles. Kia is known to have engine issues with the 2011-2014 Sportage engines. I believe this should be investigated and should be covered by kia warranty.

18 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 05/24/2020

I noticed a knocking noise coming from my engine while idling and when trying to accelerate the knocking noise was getting louder and faster then at first the noise stopped as you would drive past 40 mph or so and while breaking my engine would knock and my car would slightly jerk. I first noticed thies early morning had to drive two hours to get home with my children then around noon the car would not drive past a half miles before dying. My car will still start up but will die if driven. This happen very sudden an unexpected as my kia is well taken care of. Please help me understand what is happening with my vehicle.

19 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 03/02/2020

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph a loud knocking noise was present coming from the engine and the vehicle would not accelerate and began to loose power. During the incident check engine light had also illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer tempe kia(8005 s. Autoplex loop. Tempe az) who diagnosed that the engine bearing rod had failed and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer wast notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000. Jft.

20 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

I was driving on a city street at about 35mph when all of a sudden I heard a loud knocking noise coming from the engine and then a pull on my steering I then lost control of my vehicle. I was very lucky as there was not much traffic coming and was able to get my car onto a side street where I was then illegally parked. I turned the car off waited about 20mins then started it again and the noise was much louder. I had to have my car towed to a local mechanic who then diagnosed the problem to be that my engine had seized. My car has always had its service every 3months or 3000 miles. There was no warning signs of any problems with my vehicle. I then had my vehicle towed to the dealer where they had their mechanics diagnose the car only to find they confirmed that yes my engine had seized. With only 69,900 miles and no warning what so ever that this could and would have happened.

21 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

Knocking noise coming from engine, have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic as well as kia dealership service department both diagnosed the problem as needed a new engine ($5000-7,000). This vehicle 73,000 miles, oil changed at every 5000 miles. There is no explanation or reasonable cause of engine failure except for manufacturing. Only had the 1 1/2 years. Dealership told us only option is to buy a new car from.

22 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

1/1/2020 I was driving down the highway in the middle of nowhere kansas, hours from home. I had to stop for about 5 minutes because of a stretch of highway that was down to 1 lane for construction and had a temporary stoplight (instead of a pilot car). When it was finally my turn to go, my car started making a loud knocking sound, violently shaking, and wouldn't accelerate. Then all the warning lights and check engine lights turned on. I pulled over and called roadside assistance which towed me to the nearest mechanic. The mechanic said the engine was shot, the rods and stuff oroken, knocking a hole in the engine. I finally get it towed back home 1/3/2020 (hours away) and dropped off at the dealership. I finally hear back from the dealership 1/13/2020 and they confirm I need a new engine, but claim the current recall nor the manufacturer's warranty will cover the repairs (approximately 100,600 miles, only 600 miles over warranty). What I've read in my research of 3 recalls and about the class action lawsuit is exactly what has happened to my car's engine (except no fires thank goodness). I'm left with no car and no idea what to do.

23 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 11/29/2019

Traveling on black Friday in 2019, the engine hickuped as we were passing a car. Within two miles, a loud knocking sound started, and within a mile, the car quit running. We had it towed to a local mechanic who said the engine was shot. We contacted kia with our VIN number, and they said the car was not covered under a recall of other kia models where the engine had died in the exact same fashion.

24 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

Knocking noise coming from engine, have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic as well as kia dealership service department (franklin, TN), both diagnosed the problem as needed a new engine ($5000-7,000). This vehicle as 145,000 miles, oil changed at every 5000 miles. There is no explanation or reasonable cause of engine failure except for manufacturing.

25 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 11/13/2019

On Sunday (11/3) I was driving my 2012 kia Sportage (a car we purchased used from kia of east hartford, CT and currently only has 68,000 miles on it) on a very busy interstate when the engine began to power down. I was barely able to make it to the shoulder of the road before the car seized up, a loud bang sounded from under the car, it began to smoke from underneath the car and oil covered the ground. The car was then towed to our local auto body shop where it was determined that the engine block suffered a quarter-sized hole from something being dispelled at a high rate of speed from the engine. When this was determined, we did some research and found there as a recall and we were never notified (see below). VIN #kndpbca20c7281822. We were told by the kia dealership that whatever caused our car to just stop working on the interstatewas not covered under the recall. It seems very suspect that given what exactly happened, this is not part of the recall. After much debate and over a month later still without a vehicle, kia has told us they will supply the parts but that we were still be responsible for the $3,000+ of labor. I'm sorry, but kia should stand behind their cars & engines. Again, we only have 68,000 miles on our car. We don't agree with the directive of having to pay the labor fees. We would like someone to review this complaint and provide some direction for us. I have tried on multiple occasions to talk to someone beyond the mechanic & first line rep, but have not received a response from anyone at kia. This is the case # 13421656 for kia. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. 615-243-7043. Thank you.

26 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Vehicle engine light came one while driving, had loss of power and engine began to shake and had a loud knocking noise. Pulled over to side of road and had to have the vehicle towed to kia dealer. Upon evaluation I was notified that a new engine was required. Vehicle only has 63,964 miles and as a second owner, it is not a warranted item. Engine replacement estimate is $6390. 00 plus tax.

27 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/06/2019

So I had pretty much a full day of driving and my manual transmission 6 speed 2011 Sportage, that until today the only problem I noticed was that sometimes to me it felt like when I up shifted or began to go into first that it wasn't going all the way into gear; and at times on the highway it wasnt accelerating normally and my gas mileage is about 50m less per tank than it has been the past 5 mo. (financed to buy as of March). According to the dealership only 1 previous owner and I'm not sure what work had been on it prior to the dealership we are buying through. So today car use in town running completely normal since 11am then suddenly around 6:30 started making all kinds of noise to me a knocking sound plus an almost like revving sound mixed in. We came straight to a gas station and checked the oil with yellow dipstick, as we are almost due for a change, added about a half a quart and started it again to run the oil thru and same sounds but louder. We then turned it back off called a mechanic friend and he came and said without taking anything apart he felt it could b a rod. I then called my mom to come pick up my 3 young kids with me to take them to her house out of the TX heat while we attempt driving home. Started it up again around 8:30 to head the half mile home and very faintly could hear still a knocking and accelerated slowly. Im mot a car genius or anything but not knowing the vehicles personal history prior to March of this year I am worried to drive on highway the 40-50 mile distance to get to the nearest kia workshop. I absolutely loved my soccer mom car until today and now im afrraid to drive it after reading the recalls. Is my vehicle a part of any recall? my clutch it new and my fuel pump as well according to the dealership we are buying through so I know it isnt that. Just want to feel safe and have my commute back to normal again. . . What's going on??.

28 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 07/23/2019

Purchased Dec. 2018 used. Drove 10k miles and no indication of a problem. Had a window motor repaired in July. Picked car up on Friday. On Monday, knocking sound started occurring in engine. On Tuesday, it was worse so drover straight to kia dealership. It lost power on a major highway so I got over to the right. Made it to the dealership exit but car died on a major street in front of dealership. Finally got it started and turned into parking lot. Two weeks later I was told it needed the engine replaced. There is only 106k miles on it. Bought for daughter that will start driving in September. Spent all my savings. They said 3900 plus labor for used motor or 6500 plus labor for new engine.

29 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

Car only has 79,597 and I'm hearing knocking noises coming from under the hood. I have now received my recall in the mail.

30 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 07/09/2019

With 88,110 miles on the car, while driving, the engine completely shut off. Upon stopping the car, and restarting the car, the car has a loud knocking noise. I took the car to the dealership and they said it needs a new engine, for $6800. After researching this issue, I have come to learn, it is very common among the 2012 kia Sportage.

31 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

My 2013 kia Sportage with 96,807 miles stalled while driving on a very busy, fast-moving street. The car began to stutter, lose acceleration, and a knocking sound started to come from the engine. Had the vehicle towed to my mechanic who diagnosed the issue as severe engine knocking which led the to the engine stalling. Per the diagnosis from my mechanic, upon tear down of engine the main bearings had spun causing excessive play on the pistons allowing them to hit on the engine wall causing the knocking. During this process, we learned the gdi engines were recalled but the theta engines were not, for some reason. Even though the issues are the same. We also learned the theta engines for replacement are impossible to find because (1) the engines were discontinued and (2) the issue is common and so many people are needing new engines. We had to replace the engine, which cost $7,000 (due to the mechanic finding only one used engine available for replacement - at the cost of over $5,000 for the engine alone). The car runs normal now, but we are obviously concerned the replacement engine will have the same issue and fail, given how often this is occurring with these engines. Kia needs to acknowledge this issue with the theta engines, and reimburse customers who have no other choice but to fix their car. We diligently serviced our vehicle with timely oil changes, and have the documentation to back it up. Cars stalling while driving is a safety concern, and cannot be stated any other way.

32 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

The contact owns a 2012 kia Sportage. While driving 55 mph, all the instrument panel indicators illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over, turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the engine made a knocking noise. The vehicle traveled approximately ten more miles before shutting down. The vehicle could not be restarted and was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine jumped and bent the valves. The mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced and the contact was informed to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer advised the contact to tow the vehicle to dorsch Ford Lincoln kia (2641 eaton rd, green bay, WI 54311, (920) 469-3000). The manufacturer promised to reimburse the contact for the tow and the initial diagnostic test. The dealer verified that the engine needed to be replaced and wanted to charge the contact $9,100 for the repair. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v101000 (engine) and the dealer refused to pay for the towing, diagnostic testing, and repair. The failure mileage was 65,000.

33 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

Driving to work when the car made a sudden knocking noise then completely shut off. I was on a curve in a road and this was a dangerous place to be broken down. I had the car towed to kia gateway in warrington, PA. And was told the car had a catastrophic engine failure. There were no warning lights prior to this failure. I also have maintainted the car with proper oil changes and maintenance.

34 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Sportage. The contact heard an abnormal knocking noise without warning after returning from a trip more than 100 miles away. 35 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

As I was driving down the 57 fwy in so California with my wife I attempted to pass a vehicle who was traveling slower than the rest of the fwy (under 55mph). Upon doing so I started to hear a knocking noise. (per myself and my mechanic its toasted the rod bearing). Being a mechanic for 20 yrs I knew that sound wasnt good. I pulled on the shoulder to verify I had motor oil. After checking oil level was good. I continued to exit the fwy. My car only has 114k miles. How does the waterpump last longer than the motor. While waiting for a tow truck I started to google this issue. After what I read I called kia to only find out my car wasnt part of this recall. How is this possible? it is the same exact problem to which there is a recall. Car has been maintained regularly. To make matters worse we are moving out of state in 5 days. I would have never in a million years thought this car would blow the motor at 114k miles. Qhen the salesmen at the kia dealership wrote my credit score on a piece of paper 60 points lower than what it actually was I should have walked away. There needs to be another investigation/ class action lawsuit for all kia 2. 4 that throw a rod bearing at suck low miles. This only happens due to faulty parts at this low of milage. The only reason I bought a kia was they are were to be good cars. I will never buy one again. Ever.
