Vehicle has 129265 miles, it has always had scheduled oil changes. After driving about 20 miles one day I commented to my husband the car doesn't seem to be running right, lacking power. As we pulled out from the next red light climbing a hill I heard a screeching noise. . We drove about a mile and lost more power and a loud rapping sound was coming from the engine. , I pulled over and my husband checked the oil was looked clear and did not smell burnt, coolant level was in normal range but near low mark, no warning indicators came on through this event. I tried to restart the car but it would not turn over, I called for a tow, by the time my son got there about 90 minutes later the car did restart, the rapping in motor sounded like it was at the bottom of the engine.

Approximately 2. 5 hours into a long highway drive, the vehicle engine began to make additional, unusual noise when travelling up standard hill grades, as if it was having to work harder than normal for a hill of that size. Previous drives along this route, or on any other route, no additional noises were heard. Shortly after attempting to "take it easy" on a few more hills, the check engine light and other instrument panel lights came on. We immediately turned on the hazard lights and pulled over, and then turned off the engine. We opened the hood and checked the oil level, which was normal. We inspected for debris, loose connections, signs of distress, or other indications of a problem, and found none. We attempted to start the vehicle again, and it would start and then immediately die. Further attempts, even while pressing the gas pedal to try and keep the engine going, we're unsuccessful. Vehicle was towed to a kia dealership, and after diagnosis, we were informed that the engine had seized. Vehicle was at approximately 110,000 miles, and had always been serviced at the same authorized kia service center we purchased it from. There were no prior signs of issues, nor any indication that an engine failure was imminent prior to the event.
While driving on the freeway going 70 mph my engine started making a weird noise. At first it sounded like my car was dragging something. There were no warning lights before the engine went out. Pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the car, and checked underneath the car. Then checked underneath the hood. There was no smoke and fluids were good and everything else looked good. But as I tried restarting the car after 20 mins the engine sounded like popcorn popping. At that point I called a tow truck. The tow truck guy asked if he could check the oil. When he did he found small metal shavings in it. My car was towed to the nearest kia dealership (which is nowhere near where I currently live). Two weeks prior to that I just serviced my car for an oil change and nothing was wrong at that time. I have always kept up with my factory maintenance and oil changes on time at the same dealership I bought it from. Never experienced any other issues with my car. When I called a kia representative the next day they said my VIN has no recalls for the sc147. It only covered the 2011-2013 kia Sportage 2. 0l engine not the 2. 4l engine that I have. My car is still under warranty. Reading through other complaints about similar issues it sounds like not only should kia be recalling the 2. 0l engine but also the 2. 4l engine. Just because the 2. 0l and 2. 4l engines are built by two manufacturers at two different facilities doesn't mean customers with the 2. 4l engine should be ignored. Kia needs to take ownership and do some investigation with the facility that built the 2. 4l engine. The 2. 0l and 2. 4l engines are experiencing the exact same issues. I called the dealership today to get status and they said they have no eta at this time because kia has the engine backlogged. So right now I have no idea when I will be getting my car back. This is very frustrating.

~tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Sportage. While the contact's daughter was driving 55 mph, a loud sputtering noise was heard and the oil indicator illuminated. The noise grew louder, the check engine warning indicator illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was unable to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with metal shavings in the oil. The vehicle was repaired, but the specifics were unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to a kia dealer for further inspection. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

First time I brought the car back was because the engine light went on and I had a oil leakage in the engine. Car started to shake even after it was hot and made a weird noise in the engine. The motor rr window was not working and the brakes were making some weird noise. Brought to the dealer to fix and he sent it to kia for repair, the kia crew found the front caliper frozen, but the customer denied to fix it. So I brought it to a specialist to check double check the car. They found the following defects and found the car unsafe (caliper rgt worn, frozen, caliper hardware worn, wheel cyl rgt- new/kit leaky, shoe hardware worn, c. V. Boot/joint rfo/rfi/lfo/lfi worn, coil springs front broken rr broken, ball joints/lower l worn). I spoke with the dealer because I still had warranty and told him I didn't want the car it was giving me hard times already and only having it at that time for not even a month. As I would drive I would have to release the gas, because it would start to shake and felt as if it was going to shut off. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****760758.

Was going across railroad tracks when vehicle stalled out. There was no prior warning. Stalling problem has happened several times before. Took vehicle to dealer and was informed nothing was wrong with vehicle. Also, would make a thumping noise when accelerator was depressed.
