2004 Nissan pathfinder Armada. Purchased at 11488 miles on 11/5/05. Experienced very slight vibration when braking at high speed on way home. Also experienced periodic "groan or thump" when gently braking, mostly while turning. Vibration continued to increase until steering became unmanageable while braking. Difficult to be without a car so we couldn't take the car in until 1/10/07 at 22030 miles. Our mechanic said they were the worst warped rotors he had ever seen and had them turned. He also replaced 50% Nissan pads with carquest ceramic pads. Two days later, the vibration was back and dramatically increased over 1000 mile road trip until we took car to dealer on 3/2/07 at 24,140 miles. Steering now completely unmanageable! dealer wouldn't honor warranty because we had carquest pads on car. Also told us that warranty work had been done on rotors at about 7000 miles under original owner. Dealer turned rotors and installed Nissan pads and informed us that we were now back under warranty until 36000 miles or 8/07. Don't feel safe on road, especially after reading posts of complete brake failure, yet need a car to drive on trips. Please issue recall.

Brakes pulsate and steering wheel shakes while applying brake and tires are cupping at5919 miles. Dealer said tires needed to be balanced. Then at 13539 miles still the same thing dealer turned rotors pad kit, bolt, boot kit. Then at 21985 miles same complaint dealer replaced front rotors, pad kit, slide shims, and turned rear rotors. Then at 26897 miles the dealer aligned all four tires and said I should replace them because of the cupping. I could not find all of my repair invoices for all the time that I took it in for the same problem all for the tires cupping and the brakes shuddering . I now have it in the shop again for the brake pedal going to the floor and the steering wheel shaking was told can not find problem will have to hold the car another day. Today is 9-21-06.
I purchased a 2004 Nissan Armada on 12-28-04. Since that time the vehicle has been in for service on several occasions. The largest problem being the bad vibration and shake of the vehicle when braking. Nissan has replaced the pads and rotors, which has not corrected the problem. On September 7, 2006 I was at Nissan again, and was told that Nissan would no longer make these required repaired repairs. I was also told by a mechanic that the real problem is that the brakes and rotors put on the 2004 Armada are too small for the weight of the vehicle, and that is why the problem exists. Nissan must correct this problem before someone is injured or killed as a result this serious mechanical problem. The next issue is with the rear sonar system. The problem is that when it rains the rear sonar goes off when the vehicle is placed in reverse. I have taken this to Nissan for repair or replacement on several occasions. The replaced the system once, and the problem has recurred. I was told by the Nissan service manager that Nissan is working to find out what the problem is with the system. However, I have not seen a service bulletin or recall for this problem. The last problem is that since June 17, 2006 Nissan has replaced four (4) radios in my vehicle. I was told that Nissan uses radios manufactured by clarion in my vehicle, and that there have been problems with the radios. If this is so Nissan should go to a more reliable company. On September 8, 2006 I made a call to Nissan customer service. I was assigned file # 5460708, and told a company representative would get in touch with me. Since Nissan is unable or unwilling to correct these important problems, especially with the brakes, I am request the assistance of your agency in this matter.
I own a 2005 Nissan Armada (16,000 miles) with brake problems. I purchased the vehicle on August 22, 2006. It was taken to a Nissan dealer two days later with brake problems. The dealer replaced the front rotors and pads, the rear rotors were resurfaced with new pads. I picked the vehicle up on Friday, and returned with it back to the dealer on Monday. My Armada was not fixed. The steering wheel still was violently shaking, and the front brake pedal was spongy,as well as the brakes over heating. The dealer had the Armada for three days to fix/replace a front caliper new pads again, and wheel balance. I believe more work was done, however the work order does not reflect any other repairs. What really disturbs me is that I found out that in October of 2005 the Armada had the brakes replaced by the original owner. The vehicle was not even a year old at that time. This makes 3 repairs for the same problem in less than two years. Nissan states the brakes issues are corrected, I think that every 10k I will have to have the brakes replaced over and over. Nissan stated that no other pads or rotors will be covered under a warranty, since they were fixed twice already. I will say the dealer has been very good so far,but what happens when I need brakes again. I am aware of other Armada owners with this same issue. What can be done to finally correct this safety problem.

I took my Nissan Armada 2004 le to my mechanic and he said the brake rotor were warped. I bought it at 16,500 and it now has 18,500 miles. It has pulsated ever since I purchased it. My mechanic said it was odd that the rotors would warp so soon. He told me to check with Nissan before he replaced them, since many of the Armadas and titans have had brake problems. I went to the dealer and they charged me 95. 00 dollars to diagnose and said the brake rotors were warped. The dealer bay ridge Nissan 532 65th st in brooklyn new york 11220 told me it was not covered under warrant. They knew of the defect, but said at 18,000 miles it was due to wear and tear. My mechanic said that is odd.
2005 Nissan Armada brakes shake when applying the breaks. The rotors are warped. Shaking is getting worse.
I own a 2005 Nissan Armada with 7000 miles and the brake rotors seem to be warped already. I have a cousin who has a 2004 titan and has had plenty of brake problems also. When braking, especially at higher speeds, the steering wheel has a lot of vibration. After doing research on the internet there seems to be a lot of other people with the same problem. But Nissan has yet to recall these vehicles with these problems. There are service bulletins out to replace the front and rear rotors and brake pads but after reading many of the complaints posted by other people they only want to turn the rotors which is not the solution. I would like to know what my rights are and how to get Nissan to correct the problem right the first time.
The brakes on my 2005 Armada warped at about 5,000 miles. I took it to the dealership and was informed they have an upgrade kit to fix the problem because the stock brakes are too small for the vehicle. When I picked up the vehicle, I was informed that they only turned the rotors because they didn't have the parts and now cannot give me the upgrade because there is no visible problem and Nissan will not authorize the work. I was never asked if I wanted the rotors turned. It appears that they are trying to avoid a recall by making it look like they are fixing the problem, but then only doing what costs them the least.
Bought Nissan truck in may 2005 and the truck has been in the shop 6 times for bad brake pads and warped rotor.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. When applying the brakes at 40 mph, the brake pedal extended down to the floor. The vehicle stopped when the emergency brake was applied. When the contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it, the brakes operated normally. The dealer changed the warped rotors at 2,500 miles. The vdc was reprogrammed at 38,581 miles. The current mileage was 60,186 and failure mileage was 2,500.
Bought Nissan Armada January 2005. By March of 2005 just a little over 2000 miles the steering wheel started shaking when braking. Brought car back to dealer and was told rotors too small for the car. Rotors replaced. Steering started shaking again early June. Car brought back again. Told it was the same problem and the permenent "fix" would be available by the end of June. Told at the end of June the "fix" would be available buy mid July. Now mid July with no "fix" available. Steering wheel shakes so badly it is difficult to drive. Car will be brought in for the 3rd time on 7/19/05 for third visit and 2nd set of rotors. Still no permenent "fix" available.
On three occassions, at mileage 7500, 15000, and 22000, the front rotors have warped on my Nissan pathfinder armanda 4wd, causing dangerous steering and driving conditions. The problem has been described as incorrectly sized brake pads which heat up and warp the rotors. Nissan has corrected the problem in each case by grinding and/or replacing the rotors. The problem has been described as the "armada brake issue".
The consumer states when she brakes the car pulls and violently shakes. The steering wheel felt very lose. Dealer was aware of the problem. She brought it to dealer on 6-27-05, who acknowledged the problem they were having with the Nissans and recommend a repair kit to fix the problem. They told consumer they could not get to her car until 6-27-05 because they were busy with fixing all of the brake problems they were having with the Nissans. She asked for a loaner v and they refused to give her one.
Purchased 2005 Armada in may by June vehicle went into service because a noise was coming from the rear side. 2 attempts to fix and part was replaced. August 2005 taken to dealer again because of shaking while braking, and front rotors /pads were replaced, and rear rotors resurfaced. January 2006 vehicle taken back to dealer because there was a grinding. Apparently the problem were the tires that needed balancing and rotating. Another problem was the liftgate, it did not want to open and close automatically. My car has been in the shop for 3 days and they still did not know what the problem could be. As another consumer mentioned the stability of this vehicle was very poor, I have swirved sharply to the left when braking at 50 mph or more. According to the Nissan service they have not found anything wrong with this.
Consumer steering wheel vibrates when applying brakes. ** received 9-29-** the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice within 3 months for this problem. The dealer replaced the rotors but the problem resurfaced.
Consumer stated that the braking system caused the steering wheel to vibrate and pull to the right. He was told by someone who did not work for Nissan but for enterprise rental car that the rotors were not sufficient for the size and weight of the vehicle. He took the vehicle to a dealership, and he was told that Nissan was sending out the repair kits and will have the vehicles fixed. Consumer was concerned that there wasn't a recall ,but Nissan was fixing the problem. Consumer took vehicle to the service department twice, and was told it will be a continuing problem until the kit arrived to fix the problem permanently. The problem was better when the vehicle was taken I to dealer, but the same thing happened after a week.
Complete brake failure-- vehicle: 2004 Nissan Armada le this vehicle has been in the shop (dealer) several times with brake issues. The rotors have been turned and replaced and turned again. Nissan has not as of yet corrected the problem. About a week ago, I was making a stop at an intersection when the brake pedal went completely to the floor. I "pumped" the pedal and got enough pedal to be able to stop. On exam of the brake system, I found that the brake fluid reservoir was over half empty. Why? I do not know. I added fluid and the brake problem appeared to be corrected. I took the vehicle to the dealer and requested it be examined to see if they could determine if there was a leak of some kind that may have caused the fluid level to get low. In checking out the vehicle, the problem occurred again with the technician. They could not determine the cause.
I have taken my 2004 Nissan Armada in for brake service four (4) times now. 14737 miles and car is almost undrivable. Nissan has known about this problem for some time, and yet no fix is available. Nissan customer service was supposed to contact my within 2 business days. No call. I am leaving for a 3 week vacation and my car is unsafe to drive. Dealer says my rotors can't be turned again(they've been turned 3 times already). Dealer says they have no rotors available. Dealer told me that "I" could check with other dealers about the availiblity of rotors. Dealer gm told me that he was also having the same problem and was waiting for rotors himself.
Steeering wheel shudders making this vehicle undrivable, dealership and manuf. Have informed me that they have been aware of this problem and no perm. Fix is available. Only 4800 mi on vehicle and brake rotors are warped. Please order recall.
Purchased a new 2004 Armada in August 2004. Had nothing but problems with the car. I recently was involved in an accident because of brake failure. The car was taken to Nissan immediately after the body was repaired for them ,to repair the brakes. Mid city Nissan in chicago informed me that they would not repair the vehicle because the body shop damaged the brakes. This was ridiculous because the car was in the accident in the first place due to brake failure. . Also, the initial inspection revealed, that previous to any body work done, the rotors/ calipers, and the pads were defective. Nissan was well aware of this problem, yet they did nit want to admit it. In addition, the employees of mid city were extremely rude and confrontational. They were not helpful in any way. Driver's side window did not always roll up, and the stereo's volume faded in and out. However, mid city did not want to repair these problems either because there was nothing wrong with the car". This was the worst truck I have ever owned, and I will never buy another Nissan. I cannot believe how poor their customer service is. I agree with a previous post, I should have brought my $40,000 to Toyota.
Brake system undersized for size of vehicle, "judder" started at 2800 miles and now at 3400 miles is much worse. Dealer wanted to do a temporary fix and I refused pending permanent fix. Larger calipers, rotors and pads are desperately needed.
The consumer experienced a surge when the brakes were applied, which made it difficult to stop reliably. The steering wheel shook when the brakes were applied at different speeds. The dealer replaced the rotors twice but the same problem recurs less than 3000 miles later. The harder the brakes are applied, the more violent the shaking of the steering wheel. The vehicle was driven under normal driving conditions.
Brake system seems unsafe. The rotors are making some serious noises, and the vehicle only has 5,000 miles on it. Vehicle is 2005 Nissan Armada.
Purchased a 2005 Nissan Armada in December 2004. Noticeable shaking in steering wheel column when braking. This usually occurs when braking from speeds greater than 40 mph. Took the car to the dealer where I purchased it from and they acknowledged that there has been an issue with steering wheel shaking, which the service advisor explained, is due to rotor becoming heated and warped. He said that they have a temporary fix for the problem - changing brake pads, rotors, and installing a bolt somehwere, and that Nissan was working on a permanent fix. I wish I new about this issue before I dished out the big bucks. Hopefully, this problem does not pose a deadly hazard in the not to distant future.
Front brake began pulsating at 5000 mile. I brought vehicle to dealer who turned rotors and replaced brake shoes with thicker shoe. Brakes are again pulsating at 11,000 miles. I believe the vehicle brake components are not sufficient for the weight of the vehicle.
When attempting to slow down from high speed vehicle shakes violently.
The consumer is experiencing a problem with the brakes. When applying the brakes, the vehicle vibrated violently. The has contacted the dealer who says parts needed for the repair are unavailable. Also, when the parts needed are used to repair the problem, owners are bringing back their vehicles back after 3,000 miles. Provide further details.
Consistent failures on brake system. Rotors and brake pads need to be replaced every 3000 miles. Shortage or parts forces ownder to drive vehicle around with severe shudder in the steering wheel and brake pedal, potentially causing driver to loose control in heavy braking conditions.
Brake rotor warping issue that has been brought up by many owners. Rotors were turned and it needs it again 2500 miles later. I requested that the rotors be replaced but request was denied. It seems that the braking system on the front of the Armada is not sufficient for the vehicle weight. I am going to take the vehicle in again for the same service this time demanding that the rotors be replaced. Nissan should be forced to change the size of the brake rotors, pads, entire system if necessary.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. While driving 35 mph, the contact began to feel a shuddering in the brake pedal and the brakes failed to respond. The dealer replaced the rotors. Twenty thousand miles later, the shuddering in the brake pedal recurred. The dealer replaced the rotors for the second time. Fifteen thousand miles later, the brake failure recurred for the third time. The dealer resurfaced the rotors. The current mileage was 59,236 and failure mileage was 10,000.
Poor braking system been to dealer will not fix. Brakes are to small to stop Armada properly. Needs bigger rotor and pads. Dash rattles very loud will not fix. Poor paint on blizzard Armada.
Vehicle pulled to the right when braking. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, and mechanic turned both front rotors. Within 120 days the problem recurred.
My rotors were warped casing pulsating when I applied the brakes at 3700 miles. The dealer turned the rotors and as I have been reading from the complaints, I will be back during my next oil change. They need to redesign the rotors to handle the weight of this vehicle when stopping.
Caller said that 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, when he hits the brakes the car shook. The caller had the problem fixed, and 3 months later it happened again. He had it fixed again and 3 months later it happened again. The caller had it fixed 3 different times. The dealer rotated the rotors, and replaced the brake pads. The dealer said that they were still looking for the cause of the problem and what went wrong. The manufacturer advised the caller to contact NHTSA. The caller believed that he was covered under the lemon law. The manufacturer gave the caller case #4992811. The vehicle would shake so bad that it was easy to lose control of the vehicle. The dealer suggested that the problem could not be fixed. The consumer requested his money back. The rotors were warped and on another repair visit the rotors were found distorted.
The vehicle's home-link system failed. The consumer stated that the memory seats for the driver does not work. A vibrating noise was heard from the heat shield from the exhaust manifold. Vibrating noise heard from the interior courtesy light lens. The liner on the roof passenger liner is separating. Tire pressure sensor malfunctioned. Rotors warped on the front brakes as a result of inadequate size to the vehicle and inadequate venting which resulted in overheating. The consumer can not control the vehicle when braking from high speeds. The consumer heard a booming noise from the passenger compartment. The consumer stated that there is a problem with the radio reception. Cracks developing in the engine compartment heat shield. Headphones for the dvd system where not provided.
