While driving applying brakes and without waring except when it anitially happens brake light comes on and brake pedal kickback and cannot stop car with in a timely manner almost causing a rear end collision. Finally get car stopped and shutting off and back on again every thing is normal with braking . Had a code pulled for a c1179. I know of TSB ntb06-040 but should be considered a saftey recall.

While vehicle is in motion during highway travel and city travel brake light on the control panel will come randomly come on. When applying brakes after light has illuminated there will be severe vibration and grinding when you press the brakes. This behavior in the vehicle will continue until the ignition has been turned off and then restarted which seems to reset the brakes, discontinue the light and resumes normal operation. On several occasions the light has come on while vehicle is parked but still running. This has happened many times.

Traveling on highway at 65 mph near my offramp when brake light came on the dash again. This has happened several times in the past few months and it doesn't get driven on a regular basis as it is our 3rd vehicle. As I approached the ramp with brakes even lightly depressed the brakes chattered and felt week. Had to stop on the ramp, shut the engine off and restart so I could continue. At least this time I knew what to do to make go away at least temporarily. We have to always make sure we have plenty of extra space in front of us so we time to react if it happens again. I just hope it doesn't happen in an emergency situation. Also had an incident while towing a small utility trailer early in 2020 when it happened and it was much more extreme and I was afraid I would not be able to stop it at the upcoming stop sign. Nissan needs to figure out what is causing this and fix it at their cost. If it can be rest by just turning the key off someone should be able to figure this out. My understanding from the forums I have red that the dealers just take your money to replace parts that don't fix the problem. There was even on who said they replaced almost all brake related parts and it still did it.
This problem has happened numerous times at various speeds from 10mph to 70mph. While driving on city streets and freeways and need to come to a stop the brake light, vdc off light, and slip light came on. When brakes applied, very loud grinding/clunking metal noise happened and brakes would not engage only at about 10% of brakes working it seems. I stop turn off the car and start it back up and it seems to reset. This cannot happen as I almost got into numerous collisions because of this abs brake malfunction !! doing research on this problem from other Armada owners forums this problem happens quiet frequently. Some owners came to the conclusion that its a faulty delta sensor in the brake booster. Nissan must recall this problem ASAP!!.
I was traveling at low speed and step on the brakes and hear a terrible grinding sound coming from the brakes in addition to a spring like sound and a significant reduction in braking power. The brake lights came on. This continues until I pull off the road and shut off the engine and then start it back up and the brakes work fine. The next day, while exiting the highway. . . Brake light came on, little or no braking power and a shudder in the breaks. And then it happened again as I pull up to the driveway to park my Armada. This is a safety issue and I really hope that Nissan will take care of this issue.

This is a major safety issue! the brake light on the control panel comes on and when stepping on the brakes, the car hardly brakes. It feels like the brakes are grinding and skidding. I have to carefully pull the car over and turn the car off and back on. Lately this has been happening around once a week.

The brake light and slip indicator turn on and the brakes do not work. There is nothing in the manual that explains what this means other than potentially low brake fluid. We checked the brake fluid level and it was halfway, we filled it up and the issue did not go away even after driving it. When you turn the vehicle off and start it back up the brake light turns off leaving only the slip indicator on but no explanation as to wha the issues are regarding both systems. After carefully testing the system we found that the brakes are in fact failing and the vehicle is not stopping.

Several times when driving my brake light will come on along the brake does not engage. When you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound similar to springs being ejected from the car. It does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. When you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. I took it to the Nissan dealership in fremont CA. They advised to change the brake pads and rotors. Which I elected to do and cost me a lot of money. Immediately after leaving the dealership it happened again. I called the next day for they were closed. They said that they didn't see any errors on their reader and cannot replace parts when there are nothing showing. I insisted to take it in and the mechanic suggested I clean the battery or get a new battery which I did. The problem stoped for a month until it happened again while driving 50mph down a windy road. It nearly killed me! the closest description I have of the problem is explained on this youtube video I found https://youtu. Be/jvcrd2lxti8.
The brake light on the control panel lights up and when stepping on the brake pedal the vehicle does not brake, instead is feels like it's skidding. When this happens I have to slowly try to pull over and come to a stop to then turn the vehicle off. When I restart the vehicle is it usually starts performing normally again and the brakes work fine. This is a huge safety concern for me due to the fact that I never know when this is going to happen again. What if it happens while I need to come to a quick emergency stop?! thankfully I am a safe driver and always drive within the speed limits which helps me bring the vehicle to a stop quicker.
Driving in traffic causes brakes to lock as if the parking brakes were set. I have to pull over safely to the side of the road and place the vehicle in park, press on the parking foot brake to engage and disengage the brakes, turn off and on the vehicle to "reset" the brakes. It happened a few times especially on the freeway. In all multiple occasions nearly rear ending the vehicle in front of me especially when I have my family with me in the vehicle. When this occurs the brake light comes on, on the dash. Happens on both the freeway and the city streets in motion and once when the brakes was press in traffic.
While driving the brake light will illuminate and the brakes will fail while being pressed. When the the light comes on the brake booster fails to operate and the while will not stop. There was a lawsuit filed against Nissan back in 2014 for a delta stoke sensor which is what Nissan calls the brake booster. When I looked up my vehicle with Nissan no recall was issued yet my vehicle falls within the same year. This is a major safety concern that needs to be looked into.
Note that this vehicle was purchased used about 2 years ago without any service history from the previous owner. However I was able to confirm no outstanding recalls open on the VIN. While traveling home (45mph) I observed the brake light illuminate on the dashboard and noticed the brakes were malfunctioning. When attempting to depress the brake pedal the abs/brakes appeared to make grinding/metallic noises and the brake pedal would vibrate and go to the floor. I thought that a brake line or fluid issue may have occurred, but when I stopped the vehicle and turned off the ignition I did not see any visual issues. Then upon restarting the vehicle the issue was no longer present. When I researched this issue I found hundreds of complaints about Nissan brakes having similar issues and found a service bulletin ntb06-040. Pdf regarding the issue. Upon using a scantool to read the vehicle codes I was able to confirm that dtc c1179 was present and that this issue was related to the service bulletin. The service bulletin indicates a software update addresses the issue. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they indicated Nissan would not be able to assist due to the age of the vehicle. I am concerned about the number of complaints I am seeing online (clubarmada, Nissanhelp, etc) regaing this issue and feel that if a software update is needed to resolve than there is either 1) a software bug (which needs a recall) or 2) a defective sensor (delta sensor) that the software update chooses to ignore or diminish. Either way a random brake malfunction that can "fix" itself upon reboot (restarting the vehicle) seems suspicious and should be investigated.
While driving the car will slow down and I will notice the brake light is on. Then I will hear like a grinding sound. As if im driving with emergency brakes on. The parking brakes engage while im driving. We took car to a Nissan dealer for servicing but they could not detect any problem. There is certainly a problem with braking system. I am afraid this will cause an accident. It has happened about 7 times in the last 2 weeks. We just got new brakes on oct. 5 2019. This problem a few years ago and it will happen a few times a year but lately its happening more often. It staryed back on or about oct. 1, 2019.

I have a 06 Armada my big concern it's the brake light comes on an the brakes don't respond correctly it's hard to stop it's been happening for a while I take my vehicle to the dealer and they said there is no recall for it even the mechanic can't tell me nothing this is a seriously safety problem for all the persons who drive this vehicles keep precaution.
This is the 5th time this had happened in one year, my brake light would come on for no reason and I would have no brakes, I check my fluid and pad nothing was wrong please call a recall before someone dies.
The brake light comes on while driving and you lose some braking ability which is quite dangerous.
Brake light on while driving, braking noise and poor braking, very scary situation. Felt insecure. Stooped engine and car started working fine again.
Is giving a delta stroke sensor c1179 and also suddenly the brake lights turns on and can't use the brakes and I have to turn it off and on again and it will go away but it happens even if I am on the highway and it worries me. Please let me know what is this code because nobody seems to know. This has happened a couple of times.
While driving the Armada, the brake light suddenly turns on. And I'm unable to brake immediately. I would have to stop the vehicle completely and turn it off wait about two minutes, then turn the engine back on. . Sometimes it stops, but most times it doesn't. .
Brake light on dash goes on and the brakes grab, make it hard to stop when brakes are applied. Has happened multiple times, had brakes replaced, and continues to happen with new brakes and rotors. Problem clears temporary after stopping vehicle and turninh ignition off then back on. Last time this happened was 2-16-2019.
Brakes failure ( suddenly brake light on ) "I was on my way home from work and a car cut me off, brake lights came on, I stepped on my brakes and the brakes went down to the floor and I heard and felt a grinding noise. I immediately drove out the way and thank god there was no vehicles parked in the area I had turned into. Then after that I did turn off the vehicle then turn it on and everything wors good but anyway driving with a lot concerning that might be happen again. I did take it to the dealer but they said could not find anything wrong, anyway they charge me about $ 200 dollars for the test. Note; this already happened five times, three of them on just one day(02/15/2018) hope that Nissan company understand that this defect/ failure is very dangerous and needs to be attended very seriously. I was on the freeway going 60 mph when this happened . Having problems with the brake booster brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and doesn't wanna break on time also makes a weird noises this only happens when the brake light is on I have to turn off the vehicle and start again and then it won't do it for a while and then after a while it happen again so scary.
Very light brake pedal, pedal goes all the way to the floor before the truck starts to slow down. The brake and vdc lights come and the brakes skip and truck slides. Took to Nissan dealership they said it was my brake booster and master cylinder causing the issue, I had items replaced and the problem is still there.
Brake light comes on while diving ,when I apply brakes there is a spongy feeling , its like when you bleed brakes. Then an awful grinding noise comes from under the vehicle. Its happened 3 times since I've had car used and I've only had it 6 months. Luckily no one was around and I was able to pull over. Turned off the car and it was gone on all occasions. I am very scared to drive my children and grandchild around this is very scary and could cause injury or even death if on a winding road in snow or rain. I don't know what to do I cant afford new car.
Randomly the truck would not stop as I try and apply the brakes , its as is I push petal to the floor and you hear a bad grinding a bad vibration and feels as if the truck is about to drop a mechanical piece from underneath the front end . As I come to a long and rolling stop the brake light turns on,, I try and pump the brake petal and it seems as if its disconnected from the cable, so I turn the truck off wait a minute and turn it back on. . . Now this has happened about 5,6 times the past time my wife and 3 boys where in the vehicle. . Ive done research and been on many forums and know this is a big issue and very dangerous, as we are now extremely nervous to drive the vehicle especially on the expressway . . . Please at least honor the repairs as I can take it to a Nissan by me and have it fixed. I love the truck and have put a lot of money to modifying it and its very dependable. But no vehicle will be safe if brakes randomly go out. . . Its bound to be a very bad outcome and we dont want to be a statistic,,,please help us. . Samuel salman angela dejulia 773 769 9203 cell please call for further info and a resolution. . Thank you for your time.
This is my second time with brake failure due to a faulty brake booster. The first time in 2011 and now in 2018. Brake light comes on and grinding noise with very little brake pressure. Taken to dealership brake booster replaced $982. My question is did they replace defective parts with upgrade. It is a well known issue that to me Nissan is ignoring till there is a fatal accident. Dealer states delta sensor faulty.
My husband purchased an 06 Nissan Armada. While he was driving on the freeway he went to slow down and the brake light came on and the pedal went to the floor and made a weird grinding noise. He pulled over and shut the vehicle off. Was waiting for a tow truck to arrive. After he restarted it, it drove fine. Took it to Nissan themselves and they found nothing but recommended a brake booster. This has happened multiple times to us. Again just recently, I was with my daughter in the vehicle and had to run through a red light because I was unable to stop. The emergency brake light came on but the brake was not engaged. There was a loud grinding noise as if I needed rotors. I let the vehicle slow down and I pulled over in a safe area and shut the vehicle off. After restarting it after 5 mins the vehicle drove fine. I had my father hook his code reader up and we came up with a code c1179 which is a delta stroke sensor. Researched the code and found that Nissan had multiple lawsuits for this issue but never issued a recall for it. I contacted Nissan themselves about this issue and the gentleman that I spoke to at Nissan told me that since my vehicle was not built in a certain factory they would not fix the issue and that his suggestion was that if I had a good repoire with the Nissan dealership close to me they may be able to help me with the cost. The lawsuit never specified a certain factory the vehicles came out of. It stated 2004-2008 Nissan titan and Armada or infinity qx56. I could not believe that Nissan is aware of this issue, has been sued not once but multiple times and is still refusing to deal with the issue.
My vehicle is having a complete brake failure. This is happened numerous times since I purchased my vehicle. I called the dealership and there is no recalls on this issue. As I'm driving my brake light comes on and I lose all control of breaking. This has happened numerous times while I've been on 95 with my two kids in the car. I've had my brakes and rotors replaced thinking that was the issue and it happened again when I was on 95 I lose all control of stopping the brake light comes on and I cannot stop my vehicle. I looked up this issue online and there are so many other people having this issue. I hope this gets resolved because I will never buy a Nissan vehicle ever again.
At random times, usually when transmission in drive, the brake light displays on the dash and immediately the brakes do not work appropriately. The brake pedal sinks to the floor when depressed while making a loud groaning/grinding sound. The brakes fail. I have to stop the car by pumping the brake pedal, turning off the motor and then once auto restarts the problem is gone until next time. Very dangerous. At higher speeds could cause serious accident with injury or death. Happened several times on expressway. Happened in parking lots and on side streets. Frightening situation. Dealers act ignorant about this problem even tho this seems to be a common complaint with this vehicle. I understand it is the abs booster that needs to be replaced. Others said it is the computer. I spent 4 hours 2 wks ago at dealer who "found nothing. " yet the situation has increased fron a few times a year to 3 times this week.
Started having a issue with my brakes on my Nissan Armada. When you pressed on the brakes, they would go to the floor and would not work and the brake light would go on. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off and back on the brake light would go off and the brakes would work again. I googled the problem and found that Nissan knew about this issue and settled a class action law suit regarding it. I took the vehicle to the dealership and it was the delta stroke sensor. Nissan knew there was a problem but has not recalled the vehicles. In fact this problem is not limited to the Armada. My family and I could have been killed because of this issue including others that were on the road when the brakes went out. Https://topclassactions. Com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/45486-Nissan-reaches-brake-defect-class-action-settlement/.
Issue with abs engaging at inappropriate times at low speeds creating an inability to brake. My wife drove through a stop sign with all 4 of my kids the first time it happened and lucked out. It just happened again today. At a speed of only 4 miles per hour, I noticed the brake light came on, I drove through the green light, only accelerating enough to get to a side road. When I tried to brake, there was a crunching/grinding noise from under the hood. After the first time this occurred to my wife, I replaced the brake booster (hell of a job) and I installed new rotors and pads all the way around as the brake booster was told to be the issue after Nissan was sued for the problem as it grew. It still never became a TSB and I have a half ton death trap in my driveway.
I was driving on freeway around 60mph on a sudden brake paddle got soft brakes light abs light everything came on dashboard. Whenever I pressed the brake it feels like not pressing anything but the brake was still working but not smooth. . It's like u pressing hard brake every time. But when I restarted the truck everything disappeared from dashboard n brake paddle started working normally. So whenever it was happening I was keep restarting the truck . So I I went to firestone they said I need to change master cylinder flash the brake fluid rotors n pads all way around which cost me almost 1500$ . Once they did those services after couple of months same problem occurring again. Now firestone said it's abs probably. I looked online lots of had same this unknown problem n it's dangerous. . It's pointi on its reliability . . I can't even sell the truck cz I don't want to put anyone's life in danger so plz I really this it's need to be taken care by dealer . Thank you.
Intermittently, and for no apparent reason, the brake light comes on while the car is in motion. This causes greatly diminished braking power (it feels like a vacuum has released and it is very difficult to stop). The only way to rectify this is to stop and turn the car off completely and then restart it. This is ok on city streets but is very scary on the highway. I have had a Nissan dealer look at it multiple times but since the car checks out mechanically and they cannot recreate the situation, they can't figure out why this happens.
Brake light came one and tried to stop but a loud sound came from the brakes like a grinding sound. The brakes pads are good but sounds like a brake booster problem. I could barely stop to avoid wrecking into someone else.
Brake failure. I have the same problem as many. Brake light comes on and all of sudden no brakes and loud noises. This has happened for a few years and have received no help from Nissan dealer. Once I restart vehicle, it works like normal.
