2 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 06/23/2015

We are having a brake issue that is very random. So far it has happened at low speeds. When it happens the break pedal will get very soft and the abs will activate along with the break light on the dash. When you turn the Armada off and restart everything resets and is normal. We have already replaced the brake booster, master cylinder, and had the computer reprogrammed. This problem has not been resolved by Nissan, all they say is all the parts have been replaced and or reprogrammed so unless it can be duplicated there is nothing that can be done. This is very disappointing they are suppose to be reliable. We are also surprised that this has not been a recall because of safety.

4 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2013 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

I was driving along in traffic at between 30-40 miles per hour following about 3+ car links behind, I went to make an emergence stop and had very diminished braking power and ended up hitting the back of another vehicle. I had this problem before (lucky not hitting someone) and took it to my Nissan deal where I was told there are no brake problems. I have since had the problem multiple times and my dealership cannot find the problem. I have expressed to Nissan USA that the problem sounds very familiar to the reports in their open recall "tem affected: service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder date announced: 10/21/2013 description of recall: Nissan north America, inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013 titan and Armada vehicles manufactured February 22, 2013, through may 3, 2013. The affected vehicles have a brake master cylinder which may intermittently reduce the pressure supplied to the front brakes. Action needed to fix Nissan has notified owners, and dealers will replace the master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began on October 21, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261. " Nissan says my vehicle is not affected and cannot tell me how they know my vehicle is not affected. My vehicle manufacture date is December 2012.

6 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 06/23/2010

Today, my family & I almost bought the farm when the brakes went out on a freeway off ramp on our way back from phoenix. We exited the freeway at 70 mph and I applied the brakes to stop at the light. The brakes made a loud scraping noise, were non-functional and we were approaching cross traffic at 60 - 70 mph. I immediately dropped the car into neutral, started to apply the parking brake and headed for the dirt on the side of the road, figuring I would rather hit a tree or fence than t-bone a vehicle in the cross traffic. I was able to stop the vehicle by rubbing the passenger tires on the curb to create friction to stop. The vehicle mileage today is 61,707. The problem could not be duplicated as we had turned the vehicle off & apparently when restarted, it rebooted a sensor that caused the problem. (info from Nissan dealer). This is the 3rd time in less than 3 months that this has happened. It is a severe safety issue and someone will end up dead due to this problem if Nissan does not fix it. The consumer stated the brakes were replaced a total of five times within a years time. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed the problem was a malfunctioning sensor in the master cylinder or the power brake booster. The air conditioning system failed and the overhead console fell down while driving. Updated ivoq 07/15/10.

7 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

Multiple brake failures with my 2005 Nissan Armada. Nissan motor America is well aware of the serious safety defects in my vehicle but will not honor the 2 times of a major system failure to replace the vehicle. This is the 4th time I have had a major brake failure on the vehicle including its systems and computer components. Parts have been replaced in my vehicle 4 times. The last time, I was assured by a dtc from California who flew up to wa who authorized the replacement of the entire braking system which failed again "it would never happen again". Multiple failures on the diagnostics revealed codes which was again authorized the replacements of parts from a consumer affairs regional manager: codes: vehicle dct c11110-controller failure, p1832 tcs op signal, p1831-vdc op signal, p1828 -line pres. In short, master vaccum, master cylinder, abs control unit, all were replaced again. Nissan fp numbers: 47660-zq21b actuator assy. 47210-zc01c master vac assy, 46010-7s20a cyl brake master, wiring connectors, brake fluid. . . Etc, etc. This is another failure attempt for Nissan to skirt the seriousness of this issues of my vehicle and hundreds of others if not thousands. Service advisor from town Nissan in wenatchee mentioned that the rotors has been turned. Work not performed. Lied to me as a customer. Now I have major break fade from my vehicle being tested from the dealership to try and duplicate the failure initially and road testing it for proper function. The first 3 brake failures occurred within the first 2 years of the vehicles life. 3200 miles - rotors failed, 5800 miles-major brake failure all components replaced. 13,000 miles-another major brake failure, parts replaced again, 22,000 miles rotors warped & replaced. 28,000 miles, brake failure again, major systems replaced again. 49,000 miles again brakes failed. Major systems replaced. When will Nissan listen? after a death in a school zone? crosswalk? myself? replacement of parts is a poor attempt for Nissan.

8 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 01/13/2010

We own a 2004 Nissan Armada which we purchased less than 1 year ago. Since then, there has been 3 or more instances in which I've lost complete braking on the car. The last incident occurred this January 13th. I've taken the vehicle to a local specialized brake shop and was subsequently told that there is a known defect with the abs system and subsequently triggering the brake and abs sensors on the dash to light up. We verified this with Nissan and they too acknowledged that there is a known defect with regards to the abs malfunctioning causing the vehicle to lose breaking at low speeds. After calling Nissan they have refused to recall this known defect and have offered to try and find the cause by starting out with replacing break sensors, abs computer, master cylinder with all costs incurred on us and no guarantee the problem would be fixed. The car has the abs system disabled at the moment so I can get to and from picking my children up from school. However, I cannot drive the vehicle under wet conditions as it could be dangerous to do so. Nissan should be held accountable and we should not have to pay out of our pocket to resolve a known defect that could cause serious injury or death.

9 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/01/2009

2004 Nissan Armada intermittent brake failure. The consumer stated the incidents occurred without warning, or any indication on the dashboard that the brakes were malfunctioning. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the brake failure. The dealer suggested that the master cylinder and booster be replaced at a cost of $1,200.

10 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 10/07/2006

I purchased a brand new Nissan Armada back in 2004. Starting around 2006 I had a brake failure issue. The emergency light comes on unexpectedly and the brakes would not apply properly. You can hear a grinding, cranking, spring noise when "trying" to stop the behemoth vehicle. I took the car in to several Nissan dealers (while it was under warranty) but they all could not find anything wrong because. . . It was not happening at the time I took it in. This went on for years and years!!! how can I get it fixed under warranty, if the Nissan dealership can't tell me the problem? recently Nissan then advised me to do a diagnostic check. So after paying $115 out of pocket to prove something is wrong, they told me that the master cylinder booster sensor was "defective". So I let Nissan north America know about the "defect" and of course their response was "your vehicle is no longer under warranty". How heinous of a company can Nissan be? not care for the thousands of drivers including their families (it is a family car) and others who are at risk of being injured or killed because of this defect! on top of that they know about the issue! they have sold me a vehicle with defective parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they need to be fined and be accountable and fix the defective problem for all the consumers who are going through this terrible stressful issue not knowing when your vehicle cannot brake! this is a big safety and liability issue that needs to be fixed and addressed by Nissan ASAP.
