The contact owned a 2016 Nissan Murano. The contact stated researched on-line and found notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v807000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 15 mph she detected an electrical or plastic burning odor in the vehicle and the brake warning light illuminated. His wife then parked the vehicle and walked back to her residence. The contact stated that a neighbor notified them that their vehicle was on fire. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the flames. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire and towed to a tow lot. The contact stated they were still awaiting information from the insurance appraiser. The contact contacted the dealer tom peacock Nissan (15300 north fwy houston TX 77090, 281-821-4000) who referred the contact to the manufacturer and to NHTSA. The contact was upset that he had not received notification of the recall by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case however, no resolution had been provided as of yet. The contact stated the brake warning light had illuminated in the past, but, never remained on. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The abs brake warning light went on 2 days ago. The brakes seemed to work fine for stopping, but I did feel some resistance with acceleration. My vehicle has 77,000 miles. Dropped it off with the dealer today. They just phoned stating that the brake actuator motor failed to the tune of $3400 and it is a huge safety issue. After a little online investigation, quickly discovered that this is the same problem Nissan had in the 2009 Murano for which they did a voluntary recall. The rep at orange coast Nissan said she phoned Nissan corporate to see if they would help and she said they refused. At the very least, they should provide the part for free.

While driving on the highway on our way to pick up daughter who lives 1. 5 hours away my 2005 Nissan Murano would not stop when I stepped on the brake pedal. I had to pull the car over and let it stop to put it in park. I then called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to the mechanic. I had to get rear brake pads and rear brake rotors as well as the rear passenger side rear caliper. This all cost me $1,700 as well as a weekend with my grandchild! there had not been any warning signs that I needed new brakes, I had only purchased this vehicle in November 2018. I paid 5,500 dollars for the vehicle and thus far have had to put almost 4,000 dollars into repairs and tow trucks! now I went out to my car and as I started to back out of my driveway as I stepped on the brake pedal it is very squishy and now is going to the floor!. I got out of my vehicle and my driveway is covered in brake fluid!!! my master cylinder is obviously now needing to be replaced! I put in a bottle of brake fluid hoping to drive it to the shop and I can see it dripping out of my vehicle already without even stepping on the brakes! I am going to have to again call a flat bed tow truck to have the vehicle taken to the garage to be repaired. I am not sure yet but I am guesstimating this will cost me another 1200 dollars. Not to mention I was told that I need to replace the racknpinion????? 2005 Nissan Murano seems to be the worst decision I have ever made in my life, and I can only describe it as a death trap. Oh one last thing, the day I bought the vehicle I was almost rear ended several times on the way home. I got home and found out that I had absolutely no back lights that worked. Not brake lights, blinkers, nothing. Death trap.

Vehicle shuts down completely with no warning as if it is being controlled by another power source. Had battery checked and alternator replaced twice. Also, had a diagnosis test performed multiple times. It yields no problems. The battery/brake light may come on prior to shut down. If it does, three seconds later vehicle is completely dead. Usually the vehicle is in motion - just driving on a roadway. Once shut down, you cannot move the vehicle and has to be towed.

Due to the faulty brakes on this vehcile I was involved in an accident on 02-27-18 during motion car ahead of me had no brake lights and made a sudden stop and when I went to stop my brakes went all the way to the floor and couldnt stop in time to avoid accident.
Started vehicle up in the morning and was backing out of my driveway. When I reached the street to come to a stop and put my car into drive, my brakes did not respond and I almost hit a pillar outside of my driveway. I had to immediately place my car into drive and immediately I to park to avoid a collision. My brake pedal sank to the bottom and the brake light on the dashboard lit up. Brakes failed and I'm having vehicle towed to my Nissan dealer.
After starting from a cold start (parked overnight) I noticed the brake pedal was soft and went almost to the floor. There was no prior sign of brake failure and the car still could stop, just not as quickly or firmly as normal. Car was taken to a repair shop who diagnosed a leaking master cylinder but there was no brake failure warning light. After the shop replaced the master cylinder and bleed the system they found another leak in the abs controller/ecu module. An internal leak, and no repair is possible. The shop says they have spoken to Nissan and looked online but find no information about other similar braking system failures, no TSB's, no recalls. I find it very disturbing that two critical brake parts could both be leaking and failing, and the car showed no brake warning lights, no abs warning lights, no indication of any problem while the brakes had obviously already failed. This is a fairly low mileage single-owner vehicle which has not been in any accidents and has been maintained properly. The failed parts (brake master and abs controller/ecu are being held available for inspection.
Driving on the interstate. Abs lights, brake lights, and odometer stopped working. Smelled burning from under the hood. Took it to a Nissan dealership who determined that the fuse box was faulty, the abs module went out as well as the ecm. Dealership said that my air bags were not functioning since the incident, and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. When searching to find out what happened, found numerous incidents of Nissan vehicles having the same exact issue.

The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Murano. While driving 25 mph the vehicle suddenly shut off. When the vehicle shut off the brake light began flashing and the brake pedal became difficult engage. The contact was forced to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the crank sensor needed to be replaced. There is a similar recall on other Nissan models regarding the engine and engine cooling (crank shaft sensor) but the 2003 Murano was not involved in the recall. The contact is concerned about the safety risk since there was no related recall for his year, make and model vehicle. The failure mileage was 90,000.

My Murano suddenly would not accelerate and the abs and brake lights illuminated. The same exact description of the original recall for the alternator. I had to tow to dealer and luckily I still was under extended warranty so it was mostly covered. Called Nissan this morning and they informed me that the recall was already performed for my vehicle in September of 2006. Obviously they didn't learn from their original mistake. They should be doing repair again for free and paying for the battery that got fried in the process.
