Nissan Murano owners have reported 15 problems related to brake sensor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the Murano.
The recall service was performed as promised. I do have to add though that shortly after having picked the car up, the automatic emergency braking warning light started to go off occasionally after normally applying the brakes. Then the light would go on at random times without having applied the brakes. I returned the car to the dealership and they mentioned that it was probably a coincident that this happened. I thought that this was suspect though as I never had any issues with the light and the system prior to bringing the car in for the abs module recall. I still feel that something was tweaked or the system's failure was exacerbated by having had work performed on it, despite the abs module being located on the firewall and the aeb sensor located in the front grill. I also have seen on the internet that 2015,2016,2017 and 2018 model year rogues, rogue sport, Muranos, altimas, maximas, leafs, sentras, armada's and pathfinders have all been impacted by aeb issues. The most dangerous, when the vehicle goes into aeb mode for no reason and applies the brakes. There is a class action lawsuit in process now and some TSB's that you have issued for fixes. I have owned or own 4 Nissans since 2010. . . A 2010 Nissan sentra which was recently replaced by a 2019 Nissan sentra and my 2015 Murano which replaced my 2011 infinit g7xs. I have never had any major service issues with any of them with the exception of this most recent $1006. 62 repair which the dealer said would not be covered as it was incidental to the recall repair. I feel the onus is on Nissan to reimburse me for this repair as there is endless proof on the internet that this feature has and will continue to cause problems for the above vehicles it was installed on. Please advise me as to how you intend to handle my issue. Thank you, frank j. Mugnaini 630-290-9053 email fradan@comcast. Net.

For the second time my front collision braking system sensor has come on and disengaged my cruise control while I have been traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway. Dealership has confirmed this code when taken into shop. This could cause the car to brake suddenly while driving. Nissan has not issued a recall. I have been quoted over $1200. 00 to fix. This has been reported on many occasions. Why hasn't a recall been issued? I am now afraid to drive my vehicle with this faulty sensor.
I purchased this vehicle from the local Nissan dealer in October 2019. Since then, the forward emergency braking system continually turns off within just a few miles of driving the car. This also shuts down the cruise control to the vehicle. I have taken the vehicle back to the Nissan dealership several times where I had to pay for them to replace the radar sensor that controls the system. It did not help and the problem occurs still every single time I drive the vehicle. The only way to re-engage the system is to stop the vehicle and turn off the engine and then start the vehicle back up. This is the same system that has caused numerous problems with the Nissan rogue. The question below is not for when did this happen, it is more of a case of when hasn't this happened? this vehicle is an absolute lemon and should not be available to the public.
I was driving for the first time in this vehicle on interstate with cruise control activated and the car sensor speed control set to the lowest setting. I changed lanes to pass a car, and after passing, signaled to return back to the lane. The car suddenly beeped and a warning appeared "front radar unavailable due to obstruction" and the car suddenly deactivated the cruise control and braked. There were no vehicles in front or beside me. I floored the accelerator so that the car behind me didn't hit me. It happened several more times, so I turned off the cruise control until I could safely stop and check the manual to see what happened. I googled the warning and immediately saw that this was a common problem. On my return home it happened at least 8 times with no warning in a 3 hour trip. The cruise control remains deactivated for a period of time before you can engage it again.

The forward emergency braking is getting false triggers and disables itself after such incident. Many times triggers without anything in front of vehicle. Has also applied brakes on one occasion when there was no vehicle or pedestrian in front of vehicle. The Feb sensor was updated in 2019 with a new part that does not send false triggers. This is a common problem with Muranos from 2015-2018. This safety feature is one of the reasons we bought this car and now that feature is not reliable. I think Nissan should supply updated part and let customer pay labor to have this safety feature be more reliable.

Car brakes hard all the sudden, almost cause me a accident, I clean the sensor thinking it qas dirt is doing the same thing. Also when that happens the center screen goes off I lose the radio. I have to turn off the car and on again.
My automatic braking system and cruise control disables itself. Component from bosch. The flaw in the radar unit allows the sensor to frequently deactivate itself, disabling cruise control and emergency braking. When the sensor turns itself off, drivers are seeing a warning in the dash that says, front radar unavailable due to obstruction. this happens multiple times in a given day.
While driving about 15 - 20 mph on a city street, the automatic emergency braking system activated for no apparent reason. There was a 3 beep warning then the car stopped abruptly. The dealer, central avenue Nissan in yonkers, NY. Checked the system and received code c1b55 (elsewhere in the report cited, c1355), radar blockage, (stored past code). The technician attributed this to "side radar blockage" they checked the area of the sensor and found no debris. Nissan service was not clear why a false side radar blockage warning should trigger abrupt braking. Also, they didn't actually fix any problem. The report is available if requested and contains supplementary information from the service diagnostics not generally shown to the customer.
My barely 3 year old vehicle recently began displaying a warning that the anti collusion system was not functional and I noticed this also disabled and disengaged the cruise control resulting in sudden deceleration . This problem seems to reset when car is started and reoccurs after 15 or 20 minutes driving . I took the car to a Nissan dealership service dept both reps at the desk told me the problem was a recall on the less expensive more common rogue model but not on the Murano which used the very same components and also told me it was very expensive to fix . I searched on line and on numerous sites found it was a very common serious defect with a bosch supplied sensor on the radar . Why are they fixing one model but not the same defect on the Murano . This is a driving safety feature I considered essential to my purchase and when suddenly fails disengaging cruise control presents a very dangerous situation . The manufacturer is well aware of the issue and insists I pay to diagnosis and at this point pay a very large repair bill to repair ,,,,unacceptable !.
Cruise control is inoperable and automatic emergency braking system (aeb) is deactivated. Warning comes on stating front radar unavailable due to obstruction. Nissan service department indicated on warranty service invoice that problem is related to sensor unit and noted "replace adas".
My car has a front emergency braking system. The sensor for this system is located at the front of the car, underneath one of the head lights. The sensor detects when a vehicle in front of you has stopped. As you get closer to the vehicle, if you do not stop, the car will sound a 3-beep alert notifying you to stop. If you still do not stop, the car will apply the brakes and force the car to stop to prevent an accident. One night, I was driving home on a city street, when the 3-beep alert sounded, and the dashboard display started flashing red and white lights. There was a message on the display stating that a crash was imminent. Then the brakes engaged suddenly, and the car almost came to a complete stop in the middle of the street. The brakes engaged so hard and so quickly, that it threw me forward in the seat. At the time, there was no car in front of me coming to a sudden stop and no crash was imminent. The closest car to me was 2-3 car lengths ahead, and it had not stopped. Thankfully, the street was not busy at the time, and there was no accident. Nissan is aware of this issue, and there are class action lawsuits, but Nissan won't issue a recall. I've taken my car to 2 Nissan dealerships and they won't replace the sensor. The first dealer told me my sensor was dirty, but that doesn't explain what happened. According to the owner's manual, if the sensor is dirty, there will be a message on the dashboard display indicating the sensor is obstructed, and the front braking system will turn off. That is not what happened to me. The second Nissan dealer did a software update on my car and reset the sensor. I keep being told to bring the car back if the issue happens again, but this is not the kind of issue you want to wait to have happen again. What if I am on a busy street or the highway? I could have a serious accident. Please investigate this.
Fuel gauge says empty when 100 miles are on the gas tank. My local Nissan dealer, elhart, told me they would have to charge me 5 hours of labor to remove the gas tank to "diagnose" the problem, even though the fuel guage sensors are accessible under the rear seat for replacement. Also, this is a very common problem with all Nissans - quests do have a recall on it, but no other Nissan, even though they all use the same faulty gas guage. It causes panic to the driver to see the "empty" light on, & they call for help, swerve off the road, when they are really not empty at all. All Nissans should have a recall on these faulty gas gauges so that Nissan discontinues using them.

My car has a front emergency braking system. This system is located at the front of the car, in lower grille. The sensor detects when a vehicle in front of you has stopped. If you still do not stop, the car will apply the brakes and force the car to stop to prevent an accident. , I was driving home, when the 3-beep alert sounded, and the dashboard display started flashing red and white lights. Nissan is aware of this issue, and there are class action lawsuits, but Nissan won't issue a recall. I've taken my car to a Nissan dealerships and they won't replace the sensor. The dealer told me my sensor bracket was slightly bent, but the vehile was bought new and never in an accedent I asked if the braket was installed form the factory slightly bent they said it could of been? this doesn't explain what happened. According to the owner's manual, if the sensor bracket was bent it should never of worked from the start??? , if this were the case, there will be a message on the dashboard display indicating the sensor is obstructed or not funtioning, and the front braking system will turn off. This was the 3rd time it has happened . I decided to get another unbiased opinion from a non Nissan dealer repair shop. They ordered a bracket from Nissan and showed me that it was not bent that Nissan has an issue with the crash sensor and is looking for any way to deny the repair. The shop owner told me to call nssan and have a rep comeout.
Initially the problem start with the active cruise control being intermittent. I would be on and then the system randomly error out and disable at highway speeds. Now currently the aeb system is completely not functional at any speed and I suspect the front radar sensor the system uses is faulty. Lots of research online and many many people have the same issue.
The forward emergency braking system warning light comes on (this means the sensor is not working and the emergency warning is not working; further you cannot use cruise control when the light is on). This has been a problem from the beginning of owning the car. The dealer tried many times to repair the problem, all unsuccessful. Next the dealer replaced the sensor, and the problem still exists. The warning light comes on when the vehicle has been driven for a few minutes- 5 to 30 minutes after starting.
