Brake Disc Caliper Problems of Nissan Quest

Sudden onset of rattling noise when vehicle goes over bumps and during braking. Took to firestone and was told one of the caliper screws was missing and the remaining three caliper screws were loose. This defect can cause the brake not to function.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, there was an abnormal scraping noise heard from the front end of the vehicle. The contact also mentioned that the air bag warning light would illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the driver's side caliper, brakes, rotors, front brake, front driver's side wheel bearing, passenger¿s side lower control arm, and the frame needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 114,000.

I was traveling down a 6% downgrade on a freeway in my 2007 Nissan Quest. At the time (Jan 2008), the vehicle had about 15,000 miles on it. I was continuously braking to keep the vehicle at a safe speed. As I was braking, the brakes began to pulsate. The pulsations got louder and more aggressive as we continued down the downgrade, to the point like if felt the brakes were about to fail. Soon after, in January 2008, I brought the vehicle to the Nissan dealership in bellevue, wa. They acknowledged the problem with the front passenger brake rotor was warped. They resurfaced the rotor. At 9 months later, and at 25,000 miles (oct 2008), the pulsations started to reoccur. I brought the van to the same dealership, and this time they replaced the same rotor they resurfaced 9 months earlier. Again at 35,000 miles in July 2009, the pulsation problem returned again. I brought it to united Nissan in las vegas, but they refused to address the problem, citing normal wear and tear on the brakes. Finally, in October 2009, I brought the brakes to a brake specialist. The specialist stated that the front passenger brake, the same brake that had continuous rotor warping, was defective due to a faulty brake pin causing sticking between the caliper and pad, which was the root cause of all the warping and pulsations.

I was experiencing brake rotor shimmy on an 06 Quest. Went to dealer near where I live now. Bought vehicle in TX- new- . Checked with dealer and said I wanted my warranty rights upheld to replace 2 front rotors, which are beginning to shimmy badly, creating a safety concern for me . Dealer said that I would have to pay 39 dollars for west hills Nissan Nissan to inspect the vehicle. Dealer also proceeded to explain all the reason why they may not honor my warranty. Dealers first Question was did I buy the vehicle there, which started the 20 possibilities scenario. I left the dealer, angry and expressed it to them. Complaint filed with Nissan who seems to have much of their customer service in manilla or india, very poor communication with them also.

Front brakes made a loud grinding noise when they were depressed. When this occurred the brakes ate the rotors. This was caused by the caliper sticking and not releasing. Dealership replaced rotors/calipers, but the problem recurred. TSB 613461 dealt with this problem.
