36 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

I experienced my car accelerating when not on the gas. I wasn't sure if it was my imagination but it's happened several times. I went out to start my car a few weeks ago and my key wouldn't turn. A red key appeared in the dashboard flashing. It took several minutes before the key eventually turned. This only lasted a day. Fast forward to now my car keeps stalling. I took it by an auto zone, I was told it was my alternator. Well I just purchased this car new last year. It's only a year old. This morning, it gave me the same issue. I go to turn the car on drive out the lot and it keeps stalling. No indicators in the dashboard are indicating anything is wrong. I'm afraid something is seriously wrong and do not feel comfortable driving it. I just dropped it off at the dealership where I purchased it. Per the staff, everything is normal. I'm now awaiting a diagnostic check.

40 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/27/2016

I was merging onto the highway going ~50 mph. Went to accelerate and the accelerater did not seem to have the same tension. Then all lights came on the dash (check engine, oil, battery etc) then there was no acceleration. Pulled to the shoulder, turned the car off, back on and everything seemed fine. Cruise control was on, but not active as I was merging, and sport mode was on. Since the incident when on cruise control I will feel the transmission 'slip' from time to time as well. However I could not recreate the issue of the car stalling. I called the dealer and they said if I could not recreate the problem, there was nothing they could do either. It looks like people are having similar problems and hopefully this can get resolved.

41 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

Started 3 day ago stalling while driving down the road. The steering wheel locks up and lose power even with the accelerator all the way down. Almost got rear ended. The engine is still running but have to put in park and turn engine off and restart. Happened 4 times today on my way to work. You lose power with everything but engine still working. Called Nissan to see if there was a recall because there were a lot of complaints with this same problem and they said no. This is a very serious problem that needs to be investigated. Nissan wanted me to bring to dealership and pay 114. 00 just to get a diagnois . Online they said it was a fail safety which Nissan should be responsible before someone gets badly hurt or killed.

42 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

Fuel pump failed leading to stall on busy interstate, creating a safety risk for 3 passengers in the vehicle. Nissan failed to notify me ahead of time that the fuel pump failure was under active recall - I could have had it repaired ahead of time. As it turned out, the stall occurred over 375 miles from my home, and forced me to overnight in monroe la, including hotel and rental car costs - as I had to abandon my car there while they waited to obtain a replacement fuel pump. Nissan could have alert me and I could have proactively replaced the defective fuel pump, but they did not despite my using the Nissan dealer for routine oil changes. Neither dealer nor corporation notified me of the safety risk or recall. The failure has so far incurred direct costs to me in excess of $1000 plus loss of two days of my time, and the near miss risk safety event for 3 persons. I am very unhappy with the vehicle and with the corporation.

45 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/05/2015

Vehicle stalls everyday ever since we first purchased the car in februar 2015. It stalls while at a stop light and while driving without any warning. The engine warning signal comes on after the stall. I brought my car to 2 different service locations (puente hills Nissan and imperio Nissan in irvine) but failed to detect the problem. This is very stressful situation where the technicians are not able to detect the issue. I searched and found that there's been a nationwide recall on 2014 Rogue on the same issue (see below): news: Nissan is recalling certain 2014 Nissan Rogue vehicles; fuel system, gasoline report receipt date: Apr 03, 2015 NHTSA campaign number: 15v197000 component(s): fuel system, gasoline potential number of units affected: 76,242 April 2015 -- Nissan north America, inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2014 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured June 11, 2013, to June 7, 2014. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing. If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in April 2015. . Read more...

46 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/23/2014

On July 23, 2015, I was driving home at 35 miles per hour and suddenly my vehicle stalled lights flashed on dash board. I turned everything off and attempted to restart it and only heard a trembling noise and clicking of the dashboard. In 1 hour I was able to start the car after getting it jumped. Battery was tested by dealer on July 22,2015 right before I purchased my Rogue 2011( used). Second incident happened in parking lot of a store where I parked to shop on July 31st,2015. I was unable to restart my vehicle until it got jumped again. This vehicle passed all inspections at the dealer and should have no problems with battery, however it is appearing that ipdm is faulty and could cause a crash and even death of my family anytime this happens again while I'm driving this vehicle. Please start recall so no one dies due to this problem!.

48 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

May 2014: on a trip to az, vehicle suddenly began to decelerate and could not be driven more than 3000 rpms. Suddenly and drastically slowing down without using brakes and with no brake light warning to following vehicles could have caused a serious rear-end accident. Problem occurred without warning more 20 times. Took Rogue to economy Nissan to repair problem. They replaced dip stick and drained off some transmission fluid and stated this would correct what they said was a transmission fluid overheating problem. July 2014: on another cross country trip problem re-occurred. Went to dave solon Nissan in pueblo colo. They advised not to continue driving Rogue until a transmission cooler kit was installed. This part was on perpetual back order. In reality we were informed that at that time there was no fix for this problem. Because of our schedule, we traded the Rogue in for a used Nissan pathfinder. We later found out that dave solon Nissan got tired of waiting for the part and took Rogue to a car action. It is unclear whether they informed the public of problem or just sold the vehicle with a serious safety problem that could not be corrected. To date there appears to be no fix to this problem. We believe this should be a recall issue given the high potential for serious rear-end accidents.

49 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/27/2014

When driving uphill the vehicle almost stalls and acts like it is not getting fuel, it slows dramatically and takes awhile to recover power. I cannot accelerate. If there is a vehicle behind me, it gets very close, very fast. This happens on regular black top roads and dirt roads. This vehicle also pops out of gear while driving on rough dirt roads and uphill (I live on a dirt road). This is not "off road driving. " both of these problems are ongoing since I got this vehicle. At first I thought it was because it was new. Then I thought I was driving incorrectly. Now I know it is just the way the vehicle is. I feel very unsafe in this vehicle.

51 Car Stall problem of the 2010 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

My 2010 Nissan Rogue stopped accelerating properly on a highway. I could not properly merge into traffic. Very scary!!! I made it home and thought it was a fluke. It then began stalling periodically, and the acceleration issue continued. We needed a new transmission at 78k! flags forward 46k more miles on replaced transmission,. . . The problem reappeared and was worse! Nissan won't replace this one and was very rude, unprofessional and won't semi the problem and serious safety issue. This was my third Nissan, but my other two were muranos and never had an issue. My experience here was so scary and so disappointing with Nissans dismissal of this serious issue that we will never buy another and will tell all our friends and family too. You should not buy from Nissan as they do not stand behind their products!.

52 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/08/2013

The cvt transmission in the 2008 Nissan Rogue is very dangerous. The car loses acceleration after traveling a distance (over 40 miles) and when it comes to a stop, it will not take off. Saturday, June 8, 2013 I drove from college station, TX to houston, TX (85 miles). When I came a stop sign after exiting the freeway, I stopped and then attempted a right turn into oncoming traffic. Once I depressed the gas, the car rolled into the intersection and stalled with traffic barreling toward me. Cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me. This car has always had acceleration and deceleration problems since I bought it and no warning lights ever come on. The first time the car broke down was on the first road trip I took in the car. In 2012 as I was driving to atlanta, georgia and the car broke completely down in birmingham, alabama. I had to get a loaner from the local dealership in birmingham to complete my trip. The cvt transmission is a very, very dangerous technology and it should be recalled and a class action suit should be initiated against Nissan. Nissan has extended the warranty from 60000 to 120000 in all cvt transmission vehicles. Why would they do this if they do not think there is a problem.

53 Car Stall problem of the 2010 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

I took a trip to chicago going through the mountains in tennessee. As I was going up the mountain my 2010 Nissan Rogue begin to slow down, disengage from my cruise control no matter how hard I press the petal my car would not go any faster. This occurs through out the trip to chicago and later to north carolina. Before taking the trips I had my ctv light come on and the car would almost cut off or stall when I came to a stop. I took that in to my Nissan person who fix that problem but could not fix my new problem but referred me to my dealer. He stated that Nissan was having problems with the cvt transmission and had extended the warranty up to 120,000. 00. I have taken the car in to the dealers but they would only drive it around the block, no light would come, no code to fix. Please refer to the information provided by edmund . Com concerning the cvt transmission problems with the Nissan 2010 rouge. There are two service bulletin that show this problem only occurs on long distance travel. Unfortunately , Nissan recommend that I continue to drive the car putting my life and family at danger until the problem occurs, only if there is a light come on then bring it in to them to fix. This is a huge safety issue, they do not want to fix the problem because the problem is the cvt new transmission. I am suppose to continue to drive and make my monthly payment even though there is a serious defect with this car. I want Nissan to purchase back this car at fair market value and I would like to see my government recall these cars before someone dies.

57 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/05/2011

Since April of 2011 (vehicle was 4 months oold) I have had my car into Nissan for auto lights not functioning (not shutting off whenin daylight), my ipod turns on when the audio is off and the electronic driver seat moves forward by itself. This has been reported and "serviced" more than 10 times already and each time it is "cannot reproduce although they see it happening. The last incident was Saturday, 12/14/12 when the setting on the dash changed by themselves and my trunk would not open with the ignition on. On Sunday morning, my car engine was locked and my Smart key nor the regular key would unlock the sterring column. I was out of state when it occured and had to have it towed to a dealer in CT, I live in NY. Now they claim that all the above was caused by a undersized battery. They installed a 700amp in my car now standard battery that came with the car is 575 amp. What is wrong with this picture? how can they say this is the issue. How can they manufacture cars with undersized batteries and not have it on a recall or issues list anywhere? even the dealer in connecticut was puzzled. I cannot say iof this is going to fix the problem, but I can tell you, I will not take this lying down. Nissan consumer affairs is totally useless and there is no consumer in this department, they are a waste of time. I filed two complaints 8 months apart regarding the same issues # 7274639 and 10257638. Both went unresolved and ignored. , they keep claiming they are within their warranty guidelines. What guidelines - the vehicle is an obviuous lemon. Not sure how to file for the lemon law or act on this as this car is unsafe and unrelliable. Any help would be apprecaited.

58 Car Stall problem of the 2009 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

This is a safety issue! - over the past few years, I filed a complaint to the NHTSA and made numerous complaints to the dealer service center about this ongoing problem with the cvt. I commute everyday on the NJ turnpike. I have to make stops 'to let the engine/cvt cool off' both going and coming home from work because the car will not accelerate. I barely get over to the shoulder in high speed traffic. Sometimes if there isn't an immediate shoulder, I have to go at a speed of 5-10 mph in high speed turnpike traffic of 60-80 mph to finally get to a shoulder. I already replaced one cvt in this car. This problem has been going on since 2009 when I purchased this car. Now I see in 2014 Nissan came up with a 'fix' to replace/install a cooler kit and a trans oil cooler. The two kits cost about $860 without installation. Why is this cost passed on to us the consumers? this is a problem with the Nissan cvt design. Nissan should make good on their promise to the customer and recall the vehicles with this cvt issue to replace/install the needed parts without making us pay for their defective vehicle design. Oh and I I said earlier, I have been complaining to the dealer service center for years including 2014 and none of the service techs ever mentioned the cooler kit fixes to me. Their response was that they could not duplicate the problem I was having with the car. I will never buy another Nissan and I tell everyone I know about these cvt issues. There are at least 100+ complaints on this site about the cvt. What will it take to get a recall? why do the consumers have to pay for Nissan's faulty cvt design?.

59 Car Stall problem of the 2009 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/27/2009

2009 Nissan Rogue stalled while driving at 35mph on a Friday afternoon with no signs of incidents beforehand tried to restart a least 10 times car would start run for a few seconds and stall. Had car towed to Nissan dealer, where it was checked Monday morning Nissan service could find nothing wrong and there were no codes stored so was returned to me with no work done except road test. . I feel this is a very dangerous problem, and am fairly sure will happen again. Cars do not just stall with out there being some type of problem. . . Dangerous situation. . .
