After shopping, I attempted to start my car and received the "engine malfunction reduced power, service now" warning. Thankfully, I was not driving when this happened, as the car had no power to move! it is currently in the dealership, where they state it is an egr valve -- on a vehicle with less than 11,000 miles on it. Had I been on the highway and this happened - no power -- I only hope I could have coasted to the roadside without being hit!.

The egr failed which allowed coolant to leak into the engine and turbo system and damaged both to which both have to be replaced. There was no advanced notice of anything wrong to alert us.
Originally I took my vehicle into Nissan of gadsden due to issues with the egr system failure in April 2025. The egr system was already replaced once a year before, but due to past recalls they replaced the system without appropriate diagnosis/scanning dtc codes. They had the car for 2 weeks and after picking the vehicle up the motor shattered itself while traveling at interstate speeds almost causing accident due to rapid declaration. The motor was diagnosed as no reparable and gave no solutions. After 4 months of calling and making complaints, it was determined that the vehicle fell under the recall 25v-437 / r25a8. It took them a month to get approved and install the new motor and turbo at hallmark Nissan of birmingham. I was called to pick the vehicle up 09/22/2025 after repair. Upon returning home, vehicle would not exceed 60mph from its own power, engine light and engine malfunction light came on, and vehicle would slow to unsafe speeds on the interstate when trying to overcome hills. I called the service department and notified them of this and they told me to drive the vehicle over 50 miles back to the dealership at speeds not safe for highway travel. They diagnosed that the turbo that they just installed went out again. I also received a letter that hallmark Nissan would pay off the car note the day I picked up the vehicle. Upon retuning to the dealer and asking to accept the offer, they refused and stated it was just a marketing tactic. All of this has been documented by audio and video recording.
Related to pe23-023. 2022 Nissan Rogue with 77,000 miles first lost heating ability and then would stall and not start. Problem was diagnosed by an ase certified shop/tech. Diagnostic inspection revealed 2 quarts of coolant missing and contamination in the cylinders. To start the recommendation was to replace the egr cooler and turbo, after reviewing similar complaints, I have chosen not to do the repairs as it doesn't sounds like it will fix the root cause and I am not inclined to replace the motor, turbo, egr etc only for this to occur again. I plan to trade out of this vehicle at a significant financial loss and replace it to ensure the safety of my family. I would like to be a part of the investigation, if in the future Nissan is held accountable for this engineering failure I may be able to recoup some of my financial hardship.

My daughter was driving my car 4 days ago with heat about 90 degrees. The engine light came on and unable to accelerate even with foot on gas pedal. She was able to pull over and let the car rest for several hours and was able to get home safely. My local mechanic said code po744 torque converter clutch circuit needs repair. I brought to Nissan dealership today and report no recalls (which I know is incorrect) as also 500,000 vehicles are affected. If Nissan does not pay to fix these obvious cvt transmission defects, I will never purchase or recommend anyone waste a penny on this bs company. Never again! why isn't us protecting our consumers against this unacceptable product?!.

2015 Nissan rouge a/c is not blowing cold air. Purchased the car 7 months ago (in winter time). Now that the weather is hot and I need the cool air it has not been working I took it in and found that the a/c o rings at evap were leaking and had it replaced and recharged. Still having issues with it. It will not blow cold air at 60 degrees and if the a/c button is not pushed and left on the air coming through has a foul smell to it.

Ii purchased a 2016 Nissan rouge on July 9, 2019. From day one I've had issues with the air conditioning unit blowing out hot. When it's 85 degrees outside, the inside of my rouge is as high as 91 degree. There's been no relief after the dealership made several repairs. This seems to be a defect and I think Nissan needs to fix the problem.

When the temperature is over 90 degrees and the car has been running for at least 10 minutes the car has acceleration issues. When at a full standstill such as at a stoplight the car will not accelerate quickly and respond to pedal pressure. When the pedal is floored and trying to start again it has a long delay like the transmission is in a high gear or is overheated. I know there have been many issues online about the cvt of the Rogue. This only seems to happen when it is hot out. There are also issues when going up an incline in hot temperature the car does not respond to pedal pressure and acceleration. This is a safety issue in that when trying to turn left at a light I expect my car to go and not stutter and there have been many close calls to being broadsided.
The issue presents itself when the temperature is above 90 degrees and I have been driving the car for at least 20-30 minutes. When the car is at a complete stop and you transition from the brake to the gas, the car does not immediately respond. It is as if you are not pressing the gas pedal at all. You can press it almost all the way to the floor before the car will respond. When it starts to occur, it is consistent with occurring every time the car comes to a stop. There does not appear to be any other issues while the car is in motion. This is extremely dangerous when you are making a left or right turn or accelerating from a stop light. I have almost been rear ended several times because the light has turned green and my car will not immediately accelerate. I took the car to the dealer on 9/15, about 2 weeks after this started. I was informed that this might be due to the fuel pump recall. They replaced the fuel pump and drove the car without experiencing any issues. As I was driving home from the dealer that afternoon, the issue presented itself again. I called the dealer and was told to bring the car back the following morning. They kept my car for 3 days. They were able to replicate the issue at the dealer while connected to a computer. They spoke to Nissan engineering and sent them the files. Nissan engineering didn't know the cause and said to "drive it until it gets worse". My car was almost at the end of the 36,000 mile warranty. They replaced a brake sensor to see if that worked. I picked up the car and brought it back to the dealer the following week when the issue presented itself again. They recorded more data to send to Nissan. Again, they requested more data from me yesterday. While in the car with the technician recording the issue, my car would no longer accelerate over 20 mph while revving the engine. This car is unsafe to drive.

First incident:while traveling on the freeway at 70mph(no use of cruise control) going up a steep hill the car suddenly lost power even with the gas pedal to the floor. Fortunately we were able to pull over to the shouder and stop the car, after 15 minutes the car started and we drove home without any problem. Second incident:driving from CA to az for family wedding on 04/28/2015 after driving for approx. 3 hours using periodic cruise control (cruise control not on during incident) and again driving on freeway at 75mph on level ground engine lost power and began decelerating quickly, not responding to gas pedal( which was floored) engine not reeving at all. Lucky again turned on hazard lights avoided near collison pulled over on shoulder, turned the car off and waited. Twenty minutes later turned car on and continued traveling. Third incident: exactly the same as second incident only happened on the way home on may 4th 2015. Fourth incident: June 12 2015 while traveling on highway in a mountainous region driving at 50mph car again lost all enign power(see above incidents)with same results. During all incidents the weather was hot temperature was at least 90 degrees. This is the same exact problem that was admitted by Nissan for previous years ; hot weather, hills etc causing car to go to "fail safe mode" and it is being reported by Nissan car owners past the recall dates of 2010. Please do something before someone is killed.
Coming home from long (06/2013) trip; high volume traffic highway car started vibrating & would not accelerate with no warning lights. It would not pick up speed and it slowed down, stalling drastically & pulled aside to turned car off and let the car cool but the car would not turn back on. The windows and radio would work but the engine would stall and not turn on. Waited 20 min the car turned on again. Reported the problem to Nissan service & they stated the brake switch need replacement; was replaced. On (11/13) & coming home the issued started again. The engine vibrated, stalled, & not accelerate. Reported to Nissan service and they found no issues. Third, time 07/2014 same issue service looked at the car; found a service bulletin stating 08-12 Rogues have cvt failure when driving 65 mph and higher, temp of 96 degree or higher; climbing steep or extended hills for 6 or more miles, & whine or rattle noise reducing engine performance. Told the part would be ordered; after 2 weeks service stated part is back order and not sure when will be in. I reported to corp & they stated the part is not available due to back order til the end of September 2014. Told Nissan I fear for my life & family when taking long drives & been renting car; if they would reimburse or provide another vehicle while the part comes in they stated no they do not reimburse or provide rental. How can Nissan know about this issue and risk the lives of family. Are they waiting for something massive and dangerous to happen before they take action! I am paying for a unsafe care while Nissan is aware of the problem & is not taking proper action. We have daily responsibility to do & driving unsafe car is scary! Nissan fast to call of payments a miss one but they are not fast to fix this dangerous issues! people who have Rogues needs to be aware of this problem & Nissan needs to recall this part.

Vehicle would suddenly and unexpectedly lose power, especially on inclines or in hot weather. While traveling up mountain road, vehicle suddenly lost power and I was nearly rear-ended as other vehicles coming up the road rounded the corner at a higher rate of speed. While leaving the palm springs area, vehicle suddenly lost power while driving in heat exceeding 95 degrees. After exiting freeway, vehicle would not accelerate and cars exiting the freeway at higher rates of speed had to swerve to avoid my vehicle. Nissan has replaced the transmission on three occasions and each time the problem has reoccurred.
