On 5/9/2026 my 2023 Nissan Rogue overheated, lost all power and was inoperable. No alerts from dash or Nissan connect app received. Had to be towed to the Nissan lithia springs dealership and was told that a new engine is needed. My family was in the car and my children had to get out on the highway and walk until a bystander offered to assist. The dealership and Nissan consumer affairs is not answering any questions or providing any solutions. The service manger carrissa is also avoiding all calls related to my vehicle. I see there is an active recall on this issue via the internet but not tied to my VIN number. Filed a case with Nissan consumer affairs no response.

There have been a couple recalls for transmission/engine bearing and the Nissan dealership has serviced the recalls. However, today may 8, 2022 while driving on the highway the check engine light appeared and a notification appeared check oil immediately. Then my engine and transmission blew on the highway at 65 miles per hour causing my Nissan to immediately stop. I was able to quickly put my hazard light on an move the Nissan off the highway and shut the vehicle off. After about 10 minutes I started the Nissan Rogue again and checked for any new messages/notifications. The engine check light was still on and the check oil/change oil immediately appeared. The vehicle would not drive over 15 miles per hour. There was no power. I contacted the Nissan dealership and explained what happened the dealership has my Nissan Rogue and wants me to come in and trade my car to purchase a new vehicle.

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact inspected under the hood, and noticed that the coolant reservoir was bubbling. The check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact that the coolant reservoir was low, however no indication of a coolant leak. The contact replaced the battery. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 143,500.
During acceleration engine makes a strange noise as if marbles were rolling around in the engine, or a knocking noise more noticeable when the engine is cold. Dealership says this is a normal sound on Nissan Rogues with the 1. 5 cyl turbo charged engine. When I use 89 octane fuel the knocking sound seems less pronounced but, the manual on my 2022 Nissan Rogue says to use 87 octane. Is there anything we can do if the dealership refuses to acknowledge there is a problem which needs to be addressed?.
On March 25th the dealership said our car was on a recall for r25e2 the dealership performed the ecm software update fix at this time. On April 30th 2026 the engine suffered catastophic failure. The heat stopped working the car was not showing hot the dial was at 1/4 it is usually at 1/2. The oil light flashed my husband lost power steering and it died at a 4 way stop. There was so much white smoke coming out the tailpipe he thought it was going to catch fire. The dealership is saying the car is not under the recall because they "fixed" the software. There were no warning lights or anything the only warning was the heat not working. He only made it 8 miles past out house before this happened. The software failed to protect the hardware from the safety defect. The dealership said the head gasket blew from overheating but they are saying it is not the recall they dont know the reason even though my husband and I have stated our car was affected by this recall or they would not have completed the ecm software update which clearly is a failed remedy. January of 2026 the front radar sensor bracket is deformed/bent causing forward collision avoidance system to completley fail. Despite no impact damage to the front bumper, the dealer and third party warranty are denying the claim as an accident. This failure occured during the January ice storm in georgia Nissan TSB ntb23-011c identifies ice build up behind the fascia as a cause for bracket deformation. This is a known design flasw that disables the safety systems including adaptive cruise control, lane assist, forward collison warning and automatic emergency braking. My car only has 46,000 miles all of these systems should not be failing.

The vehicle was puttering and smoking from the exhaust. At first the mechanic thought it was a head gasket, but with further investigation it was the coolant/exhaust. The vehicle stalled out multiple times, twice while driving and once in a grocery store parking lot.
To whom it may concern, I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the handling of an unresolved safety recall involving my vehicle by Nissan, as well as the lack of communication, escalation support, and resolution provided by Nissan customer affairs. Despite multiple attempts to resolve an active safety recall, I have not received a follow-up call or any meaningful update regarding the status of the repair. The recall remains unresolved. I was previously informed that the issue may be related to the vehicle being “driven too much,” which I do not find to be an acceptable or relevant explanation in the context of a manufacturer-issued safety recall. Additionally, Nissan customer affairs has failed to provide adequate support. I requested escalation to a manager and/or a direct contact number to continue addressing the issue and was refused both. Calls are not returned, and there is no clear or functional escalation path provided. At present, Nissan is still in possession of my vehicle while I am in a loaner vehicle. However, I have not been given a clear timeline, status update, or resolution plan regarding the completion of the recall repair. This ongoing situation leaves me without transparency or assurance regarding the safety or status of my vehicle. Due to the unresolved recall, lack of communication, and inability to obtain proper escalation through internal channels, I am formally escalating this matter and submitting a complaint to the NHTSA for review. I respectfully request: immediate clarification on the status of the recall repair a confirmed timeline for completion and return of my vehicle proper escalation to a qualified manager or recall specialist written documentation outlining next steps and resolution plan this matter involves a potential safety-related defect and requires prompt and appropriate attention.
Went to turn car on engine made knocking sounds and lost power and sputtered out. Errors came on and said "warning loss of or reduced power to the engine" as well as something else I can't remember. Every warning light came on and stayed on. Car cannot be driven and is currently being towed to Nissan.

Vehicle information • make/model: Nissan Rogue (2026) - purchased as a lease in August 2025 • mileage: 7,810 • VIN: [xxx] • date of incident: 4/20/26 • location: highway travel (pennsylvania) engine stall / sudden loss of power while driving while driving my brand new 2026 Nissan Rogue at approximately 75 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly and completely stalled without warning. The engine lost all power while the vehicle was in motion, resulting in an immediate and dangerous reduction in speed. There were no prior signs of malfunction before the stall. The vehicle became unable to maintain highway speed and effectively lost propulsion while in active traffic conditions. This created a serious safety hazard, as the sudden loss of power at highway speed placed me and surrounding vehicles at risk of a collision. I had to maneuver the vehicle to safety while attempting to avoid traffic. The vehicle is brand new and should not experience a complete engine stall under normal highway driving conditions. This incident raises a significant concern regarding a potential defect in engine performance, fuel delivery, transmission control, or electronic power management systems. Because the failure occurred at highway speed without warning, it represents a critical safety risk that may affect other drivers if it is a systemic issue. Actions taken after incident • vehicle was brought to dealership / service center • case opened with manufacturer (Nissan) • the vehicle was towed and currently getting the engine replaced I am requesting that NHTSA: 1. Review this incident as a potential safety defect 2. Determine whether similar complaints exist for this model/year 3. Investigate whether this issue warrants a safety recall or manufacturer investigation 4. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence I am reporting this to ensure it is documented and reviewed as part of national safety monitoring. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(.
On April 19, 2026, while driving on the highway with my [xxx] son, the vehicle suddenly experienced a complete engine failure and shut down without any warning, leaving us stranded in the middle of the road. This incident posed an immediate and serious safety risk to my family and other motorists and could have resulted in severe injury or worse. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was mailed a letter about a recall for engine bearings. When I called the dealership, they told me they did not have the parts and that Nissan would reach out. Then I received another letter so I called back and scheduled an appt. Before the appointment, the car started exhibiting stalling behavior which included causing me hit a pot hole. Then critical engine warning lights came on, so Nissan towed it to the dealership. The dealership wants $5,000 for a bad turbo and says it is not covered under the recall, only engine bearings and a turbo hose are covered. I believe the ongoing engine failures, bad manufacturing, negligence on behalf of Nissan is causing these issues and it should be covered. This can also cause the throttle body to go bad, which would be another couple thousand dollars. This car is 3 years old, and I still owe 4 years of payments for an unsafe vehicle that I can not drive. I am attempting to escalate this with Nissan, but so far, it has not been covered.
I am writing to formally escalate a serious safety complaint regarding my vehicle, which is currently under an active recall and was already scheduled for repair next month. On a recent occasion, the vehicle suddenly and completely shut off while I was driving inside a tunnel, creating an extremely dangerous situation that could have resulted in a severe accident. At the time, I was driving with my family inside the car, including my 3-year-old son. The engine/electrical system shut down without any warning. Emergency assistance was required, and the police attended the scene due to the risk created. Vehicle VIN: 51n1bt3ab4pc798363 this is not an isolated issue. The vehicle has already shown previous failures, and the recall repair has not yet been completed. This ongoing defect represents a serious and unacceptable safety risk. I am requesting: 1. Immediate inspection of the vehicle 2. Urgent repair under recall conditions 3. Written confirmation of the cause of the failure 4. A formal response regarding safety liability in this incident given the severity of this situation and the presence of a young child in the vehicle during the failure, I expect this matter to be treated with the highest urgency.
Subject: formal complaint and denial of recall reimbursement – Nissan north America ?to whom it may concern, ?I am filing a formal complaint against Nissan north America for refusing to reimburse $6,703 in out-of-pocket expenses related to a failed vc-turbo engine and a faulty electronic throttle body. These components failed on October 20, 2025, and are directly associated with active, ongoing safety recalls. ?despite submitting a formal claim through Nissan consumer affairs and providing all necessary documentation, my request for reimbursement has been repeatedly denied. Nissan is failing to honor its regulatory obligation to cover costs for repairs involving known safety defects. ?I request that the NHTSA investigate this refusal to reimburse legitimate recall-related expenses. Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter. Nissan is breaking magnuson-moss warranty act in this matter. As they are purposely denying reimbursement on safety recall out of pocket repairs done. As Nissan at the time of engine failure back on October 2025 refused to honor the recall repair & forced the customer to pay out of pocket for a failed manufacturing defect on Nissan vc turbo engine & failed Nissan electric throttle body. All recalled manufacturing defects caused by Nissan. Were on October 2025 the engine on my 2024 Nissan Rogue cut off while driving with my family. , with no warning & almost got us into a car accident. The cause was due to failed bearings in the vc turbo engine that Nissan refused to fix that caused the vc turbo engine to fail and electric throttle body. All are recalls and serious safety defects. Nissan has been refusing to fix since 2025 in my matter and still till this day in 2026. $5, 700 out of pocket for Nissan vc turbo & $1,003 out of pocket for Nissan electric throttle body. All failed due to Nissan manufacturer defect. Safety recalls Nissan USA / Nissan assistant & Nissan consumer affairs. Are all refusing reimbursement on recalls.
The contact owns2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a recall repair and approximately 2 weeks after the repair was done while driving on the roadway, vehicle went into limp mode and vehicle was driven to safety on the side of the road. The vehicle was able to restart after 5 to 10 minutes. An engine failure warning displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the issue could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,423.
While on the highway, the vehicle felt sudden loss of power and a burning smell. Immediately took the next exit and entered a gas station where large volume of oil leaking under the vehicle. Exited the vehicle and called for a tow truck to bring the vehicle to the nearest auto shop who informed me that the engine was damaged internally similar to what’s described in the recall and informed me to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership for the recall repair. The dealership informed me that they are unable to perform the recall due to being unable to scan the diagnostic codes therefore cannot inspect the engine/oil pan as per the recall instructions - informed me that the engine needs to be replaced first and that I should contact Nissan consumer affairs for a good-will engine replacement approval. I contact Nissan consumer affairs and was informed that they will not be replacing the engine and cannot perform the recall until the engine is replaced; instead offered me 50% off the engine replacement cost.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that seconds later, the vehicle was surrounded by smoke. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that nearby drivers contacted the police and the fire department. There was no fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but no diagnostic information was provided. In addition, two unknown recall repairs were performed three weeks prior to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly lost automotive power and failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed under NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling) and Nissan p4a47 (turbo hose). However, the dealer declined to perform the recall repairs because the turbocharger hose had ruptured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.
Good day, I am writing to formally raise and escalate a serious concern regarding the vehicle I recently purchased autosource company. I purchased a car through auto source company that assists International professionals in leasing or purchasing vehicles in the united states. However, upon independently checking the vehicle’s VIN, it has come to my attention that the car has an unresolved safety recall involving the electric throttle body. This issue was not disclosed to us at any point during the purchasing process, which is very concerning. As this vehicle is intended for daily family use, including transporting my children, safety is our top priority. The presence of an unresolved recall raises significant concerns about the vehicle’s reliability and overall safety. Additionally, I have made multiple attempts to contact the assigned agent regarding this matter, but unfortunately, I have not received any response to my messages or emails. This lack of communication is deeply disappointing. Given that the vehicle is scheduled for delivery on [xxx] I respectfully request the following: immediate clarification regarding the recall status confirmation that all necessary repairs will be fully completed prior to delivery. Official documentation proving that the recall has been resolved. Assistance from a supervisor or appropriate representative to handle this escalation. Please treat this matter with urgency. I would appreciate a prompt response to ensure that this issue is resolved before the scheduled delivery date. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
4/8/26 I took my car to a Nissan dealership for low coolant issues. I agreed to pay a 225 diagnostic fee. Nissan held my vehicle for 2 days eventually giving me the car back stating nothing was wrong. The car was returned to me in worse condition than before with white smoke and starting was rough. I called them to inform them as well as making a new appointment. They did a 2nd diagnosis allegedly. Now I need an entire engine and they have active recalls for the same year model for the exact same issues but won’t consider my car to be part of the recall. They allowed me to continue to drive my vehicle when it obviously needed repairs. Nissan is accepting zero responsibility! I need assistance.
I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the vehicle’s auto engine stop/start system. When the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine sometimes shuts off normally (other time only the auto-brakes engage, but engine stays on), but then the system behaves unpredictably. The engine attempts to restart with a violent jolt, causing the entire vehicle to shake. This occurs even when I am fully stopped with my foot on the brake. It feels like the vehicle is trying to lurch forward or restart against resistance. The issue is repeatable, happens in normal driving conditions, and creates a safety concern because the sudden jolt can startle the driver, cause unintended movement, or lead to loss of control in traffic. I believe this may indicate a defect in the auto?engine?stop system, engine mounts, starter system, or related control modules. Please investigate, as other owners may be experiencing the same unsafe behavior.
Incident date: 04/05/2026 vehicle speed: 65–70 mph location: [xxx] component: engine / power train / fuel system summary of safety defect: while traveling at highway speeds (65–70 mph) with four passengers (including two children), the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure without any prior warning or symptomatic noise. The malfunction indicator light (mil) began flashing rapidly, immediately followed by a total loss of motive power. Despite throttle input, the vehicle failed to maintain speed or accelerate, creating an immediate hazard in high-speed traffic. Hazardous conditions encountered: upon the loss of power, I observed white smoke trailing from the exhaust and a strong burning odor entering the cabin from the engine compartment. To avoid a high-speed rear-end collision, I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver across active lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. Due to the immediate fear of a vehicle fire (indicated by the smoke and burning smell), my family was forced to evacuate the vehicle and wait outside in a remote location for six hours. Correlation to known defects: this incident appears to be a direct manifestation of the defect described in Nissan recall id r25e3/r25e4 / NHTSA id 26v0801 regarding engine main bearing seizure. The failure resulted in a complete loss of propulsion and a potential fire risk due to fluid ignition or a breached engine block. Post-incident status: the vehicle was towed to Nissan of cumming and is currently awaiting a formal inspection for internal metal debris. The failure of this critical component under highway conditions posed a life-threatening risk to my family and other motorists. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I went into the dealorship for an oil change and was told that I had to replace the whole oil pan because it's plastic and breaks. I should not have to worry about replacing the whole oil pan every time I get an oil change or be stranded (since it leaves me no option but to remain at the location until they replace it). This is horrible Nissan design and the manufacturer should replace with a metal pan and do a recall. This is very concerning especially in light of the engine recall due to overheating and other parts getting into and damanging the Nissan Rogue engine. Can Nissan guarentee that these plastic pans do not disintegrate over time causing microplastics to destroy my engine and causing my engine to potentially fail while I am driving on the expressway?.
While driving at approximately 70 mph on I-76 , a “cvt hot” warning appeared on the dashboard. Immediately after, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate normally, creating a safety hazard in traffic. I was forced to pull over multiple times. This issue began after a recall repair was performed on the vehicle. The condition resolved temporarily after shutting the vehicle off, but the failure was sudden and dangerous. While driving, multiple warning messages appeared including awd system errors and check engine light. The vehicle’s performance became unstable and unreliable. This created concern about loss of control and drivability. The vehicle had recently undergone recall service, after which these issues began occurring intermittently. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Nissan dealership multiple for diagnosis of the cvt warning, awd errors, and loss of power. The dealership kept the vehicle for several hours on multiple occasions but stated they were unable to replicate the issue. No repair was performed any of the times. The safety concern remains unresolved. This continually happens and they yell at me saying there's nothing they could do. To be direct: I am aware that “unable to replicate” is often used to avoid opening warranty claims or authorizing costly repairs. However, this does not resolve the issue, nor does it eliminate the safety risk. The vehicle is demonstrably unsafe when the failure occurs, and the burden should not be shifted onto the customer simply because the issue is intermittent.
I am reporting a safety defect involving my 2022 Nissan Rogue related to NHTSA recall 25v437 (engine bearing failure). Prior to complete engine failure, I experienced multiple instances of sudden loss of power while driving at highway speeds, creating a serious safety hazard. In one instance, this nearly resulted in a multi-vehicle accident in heavy traffic. The vehicle also exhibited additional symptoms consistent with the recall, including engine shaking, knocking noises, rough riding and hard shifting, burning smell, and warning lights. Nissan performed the recall service, which consisted of reprogramming the engine control module (ecm). However, this software update did not repair or replace the defective engine components. The vehicle’s condition worsened after the recall service. The engine ultimately failed completely at approximately 122,000 miles, shortly after the recall repair was completed. This indicates that the recall remedy is ineffective and does not adequately address the safety risk, as a software update cannot prevent or correct pre-existing mechanical failure of engine bearings. I am concerned that other vehicles with this defect remain at risk of sudden power loss and potential crashes despite having the recall performed.
Engine malfunction warning - limp mode activated 6 times within a year of ownership. Car loses power while driving, rpm not responsive, speed drops and stays around 40 miles per hour. Recalls have been “addressed” but no remedy.
While driving home, multiple alerts showed up on the dashboard about my engine and to check the manual. Smoke began to come up from the engine and smelled really bad. I heard a rattling as well. The recall work was done on this not too long ago, coming up on 1 year ago, and still have engine difficulties after they replaced the entire engine and did the recall repair.
Hi! this is my 2nd input here about my 2022 Nissan Rogue. Recaping that whike driving home, smoke began to emerge from under the hood and multiple warning signs popped up (please see previous input for more information). Cureentky, my vehicle was diagnosed with a converter issue. The recent recall was related to the engine. The converter and my spark plugs (2 spark plugs replaced already) were all damaged by the engine. This makes sense why there are numerous issues. While the extended warranty covers the engine and not the converter, under the law of consequential damage, anything damaged by this engine is covered due to the cause from the engine. I currently have a rental and am leaving my Rogue at the dealership due to it being unsafe to drive and that the dealership has not provided a remedy for this defect, which is covered by law under this recall on the Rogue due to consequential damage. My Rogue will continue to have issues until all related/noncoverd parts are fixed under this. This vehicle is now a lemon due to consistent issue with the engine it damaging other parts. I am hoping for a good will pay and buyback.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated after the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling), the vehicle experienced stalling and shuddering failures during acceleration. The contact believed that the recall repair failed to correct the safety issue. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,200.
There is a recall on my vehicle and I took it to the local Nissan dealer jones Nissan bel air, MD. 21014 and they said their manager called Nissan and they told them there’s no recall on my vehicle but it keeps showing up in the system that there is. At this point I don’t know who to believe and I want a vehicle that is safe and reliable. The dealership said they ran tests on it and nothing comes up and they are saying it’s fine. I’m just very skeptical at this point and are considering getting rid of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact had received an email from a third-party vehicle service for NHTSA campaign number: 25v437000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that days after receiving the email, the vehicle was starting to drive sluggishly at slower speeds and failed to accelerate as needed while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and associated the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 25v437000 (engine and engine cooling), and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was retrieved and after leaving the dealer, the failure returned. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, and dtc: p0196-00 and p01f0-00 were retrieved. The dealer informed the contact that the codes were not related to the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,881.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal clicking sound. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling), and the dealer agreed to replace the engine free of charge. After the vehicle was returned to the contact, the engine started shuddering while driving at various speeds. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the engine mount was defective and needed to be repaired. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to cover the cost of the part needed to repair the vehicle; however, the cost of labor was at the owner's expense. The contact was also informed that the vehicle needed to be serviced by an authorized Nissan dealer. A case number was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
The vehicle became inoperable at high speeds on the interstate, I-65. My husband was able to safely merge to the right shoulder to avoid any crashes. The car made some loud clunking sounds before all power was lost. The car was then towed to the nearest Nissan dealership. It took 3 business days for the dealer to look at the car. The entire engine needed to be replaced. The dealership was able to replace the engine and complete quality assessment/drive and this was completed 4/16/2026. Because this was part of a trip interruption, the dealership is over 150 miles away from my home. I am still not reunited with my car. I have been without this vehicle for 25 days.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and shut off. The vehicle was restarted but failed to shift into gear. The messages “engine malfunction - reduce power - slow down” and “shifter power malfunction” were displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
My 2022 Nissan Rogue experienced a sudden engine failure related to an active recall. The vehicle became undrivable and was taken to the dealership. The vehicle has now been out of service for over two weeks with no estimated repair completion date. This failure creates a serious safety risk, as engine failure can occur while driving and could lead to loss of power, stalling, or inability to safely operate the vehicle. The dealership has confirmed the issue but has not provided a timeline for repair. Nissan has only offered rental reimbursement, requiring out-of-pocket payment, and has not provided a loaner or direct rental despite the recall-related failure. I am currently without reliable transportation due to this failure and cannot afford to pay upfront for a rental. This has created a financial hardship. This issue should be investigated, as it involves engine failure tied to a recall and lack of adequate support while the vehicle is out of service.
