1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/14/2026

The vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine/motor failure. The engine became extremely loud/rattled and subsequently locked up, causing the vehicle to lose the ability to operate. The vehicle is currently being held for diagnosis/repair and should be available for inspection upon request. The vehicle experienced the failure while I was driving and left me stranded on a mountain. The vehicle lost its ability to operate, creating a significant safety risk because I was left stopped and without reliable transportation. A sudden engine failure while driving could also create a traffic hazard for the occupants and other motorists. Yes. The vehicle has been taken to a Nissan dealership for diagnosis following the failure. The vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure/lock-up. I am requesting the dealership’s written diagnostic report and confirmation of the exact failed component. The vehicle has been presented to Nissan for inspection and diagnosis. Nissan is currently involved in determining the cause of the engine failure. There has not been a police inspection that I am aware of. I am requesting that Nissan preserve and provide all diagnostic findings, photographs, technician notes, and repair records. Prior to the failure, the vehicle began exhibiting abnormal engine symptoms, including a loud/rattling engine noise and difficulty operating normally. The symptoms occurred shortly before the catastrophic failure on August 14, 2026. The vehicle subsequently became inoperable when the engine locked up. I am requesting the dealer’s diagnostic scan to determine whether any warning codes or messages were stored before or during the failure.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/08/2026

The vehicle’s air conditioning began turning on and off intermittently while driving. I initially had the issue inspected by an independent mechanic, who checked the refrigerant and confirmed that the freon level was normal. After further inspection, the mechanic determined that the radiator cooling fan was not operating properly. The failed cooling fan appears to be affecting the vehicle’s cooling system and air conditioning operation. A malfunctioning radiator cooling fan can create a safety concern because it may prevent the engine from receiving adequate cooling, potentially leading to engine overheating, especially during extended driving or in hot conditions. The vehicle could potentially become disabled while being driven if the engine overheats. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. The cooling fan assembly is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been inspected by Nissan, police, or an insurance representative to my knowledge. Prior to the failure being identified, the primary symptom was the air conditioning repeatedly turning on and off unexpectedly. There were no known warning lights or messages prior to the issue. The refrigerant was checked and found to be at an appropriate level, which led the mechanic to further investigate the cooling system and identify the nonfunctioning radiator fan. Unkown whether the fan failure is related to a larger manufacturing or design defect. However, I am concerned because premature radiator cooling fan failures have been reported on Nissan Rogue sport vehicles, and a class action lawsuit was filed in July 2026 concerning premature fan failures and engine overheating in certain 2017 to 2022 Rogue sport models. As of mid 2026, Nissan has not issued an official recall for the radiator cooling fan assembly in the Rogue or Rogue sport. Had to pay an excessive amount of money to get this repair.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/07/2026

I was driving on the highway to work. All of a sudden my car lost control and started spinning in circles. I attempted to steer and break but it would not stop. All the lights came on on the dash with an engine warning. I lost total control and slammed into a guardrail. I did call 911 because I was in part of the road facing the wrong direction. They sent the fire department. I was able to eventually restart the car and we safely drove it a couple miles down the road off the highway.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/07/2026

Engine failure, known issue per Nissan service employees, second and third combustion cylinders fill with anti-freeze coolant with no errors or warning lights in vehicle. This was noticed by the temperature gauge climbing during acceleration and falling while at speed. I am told it is a manufacturing defect by the service department but due to the 76,000 miles on the 2022 vehicle it is not covered by Nissan, an $8000 bill for the long block replacement. This needs your attention as in my local dealership there have been 5 instances of this in the last month. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/30/2026

I purchased the vehicle about 4 months ago and I've only driven it maybe 1 month out of 4 due to being in the shop for multiple egr and throttle issues. I am currently sitting with it broke down once again for the same issues for the 3rd time. The engine loses power out of no where while driven and gives a warning that says engine malfunction power reduced and all safety features are then shut down. This leaves my car only traveling no more than 10mph. I was on the interstate!!.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/25/2026

Warning lights keep popping up then something will go wrong with the car. A cvt malfunction came up and wouldn’t allow me to put the car in park then after I turned the car off it went back to normal. More random lights will come up they will all be different problems with the engine or system then once car has been off for a few it would go back to normal.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/24/2026

The vehicle was running when it overheated and started smoking from the gasket area, with no warning lights appearing on the dashboard; the car will not start now.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/22/2026

A/c started blowing warm air when car was idling, then car randomly overheated while sitting in traffic. Once car cooled down, check to coolant levels and they were fine. After the car sat overnight a/c worked fine and temperature gauge was at normal. Started the car with a/c on and popped the hood, the radiator fan was not on nor did it come on. Now anytime the car idles for more than 1 or 2 minutes it overheats.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/21/2026

Since purchasing my 2023 Nissan Rogue brand new, I have experienced severe drowsiness and an inability to breathe when driving in start-and-stop traffic. The issue peaked after a recent refueling stop, where raw gas fumes or exhaust heavily infiltrated the cabin. Immediately after driving away from the gas pump, I suffered acute chemical suffocation, gasping for air, experiencing body tremors, and nearly passing out. The symptoms instantly resolved when I switched to driving a different vehicle. This is a severe cabin fume infiltration defect that causes physical incapacitation while driving.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/20/2026

Engine failure while driving, causing engine warning lights to come on as well as loss of acceleration. Safely was a concern due to incident occurred while on the interstate during rush hour traffic. Vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealership, who ran a diagnostic test and confirmed that the engine needs to be replaced. There were no warning lights or messages prior to incident.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/18/2026

My 2026 Nissan Rogue sv engine suffered catastrophic engine failure of no. 3 cylinder. Resulted in total loss of engine coolant, damage to the engine block, no. 3 cylinder and related parts, and additional damage to catalytic converter and turbocharger. Nissan replaced the entire engine block (long block), associated turbo, cat. Converter, and one-time necessary connections. My only indications were ‘engine overheat’, ‘malfunctions’, and the car not able to change cvt gears, eventually turning off just as I was coming up to speed on the on-ramp to freeway. There were no previous or repeated warnings prior to event. Car was towed to future Nissan of roseville, which performed all inspections and repairs.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/16/2026

The vehicle suddenly lost motive power due to an engine/throttle control failure consistent with defects described in NHTSA campaigns 26v081 and r25a8/r25a9/r25b1. It entered limp mode and became unable to accelerate. The vehicle is available for inspection. This created a safety risk because the vehicle was stranded in extreme heat for several hours with no access to water or shelter. I became overheated and physically distressed while waiting for assistance. Nissan would not tow the vehicle, so it sat overnight at a warehouse before eventually being transported to a dealership. A dealer confirmed the vehicle entered limp mode but did not complete the recall repair. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for four days without inspection, and I was told it should not have been towed there, so they will not prioritize it. The manufacturer cannot see the open recall because the dealer incorrectly marked it completed. Because the vehicle could not be driven and the defect has not been repaired, I was unable to travel to work and was terminated as a result. Warning lamps and messages appeared immediately before the failure, including reduced engine power and driver assist system unavailable.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/15/2026

On July 15 at approximately 4:30 pm my daughter's 2022 Nissan Rogue stalled while she was making a turn in a busy intersection. She was able to restart it and make it to a safe place to call a tow truck. There were no warning lights on my dashboard. The vehicle had just been serviced less than two weeks prior. The vehicle was towed to the local Nissan dealership. The next day the inspected it and determined it had overheated and coolant was entering the exhaust manifold. The technician noted that the coolant reservoir was very low.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/13/2026

I was driving to work. I noticed what I thought was some gravel dust behind me. I got to a stop light and my car started shaking. No engine or warning lights came on. I shut my car off and started it up again. It was still shaking. When I pulled away from the stop light, I notice there was white smoke coming out my tailpipe. I immediately pulled over and called the dealership I thought it from and a tow truck. I haven’t been given anything official from the dealership, but the service department emailed me this yesterday: “car was smoking from exhaust, pressure tested coolant system did not hold pressure, inspected cylinders with boar scope found coolant in cylinder 1, coolant saturation ruined the turbo and converter” I have now asked the dealership to do a “metal debris test”.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/11/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle independently shifted into safe drive mode. The awd drive warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 25 mph while driving. The vehicle was driven to a nearby rest area. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with oil and engine temperature failure and a failed water valve. The contact was informed that the oil and engine temperature sensor and water valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced TSB: ntb25-000, which had a similar failure description. The contact was informed that the failure was not covered under the technical service bulletin. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact referenced TSB: ntb25-000, which had a similar failure description. The contact was informed that the failure was not covered under the technical service bulletin. In addition, the contact requested a goodwill warranty repair, the request was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 61,350.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/11/2026

My vehicle experienced severe stalling, rough idling, and a strong burning smell, which match the exact defect characteristics outlined in NHTSA campaign 26v080 for Nissan main bearing failure (the year 2026 campaign is active). The vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealership, where technicians confirmed the engine requires complete replacement. However, the dealership is currently attempting to attribute the engine failure to 'coil intrusion' rather than the active bearing recall. The vehicle was purchased used in February 2026, just days after the official recall notification was sent to dealers. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer is actively reviewing the claim and potentially bypassing a federally mandated safety remedy by blaming a consequential symptom of the engine failure. To specifically answer the above questions: the engine's main bearings failed/malfunctioned internally, causing catastrophic damage requiring a total engine replacement. The vehicle and its components are currently intact and available for inspection at the Nissan dealership service center. The vehicle suffered sudden, unexpected engine stalling while actively driving. This caused an immediate loss of motive power on a public roadway, creating a severe crash hazard and putting myself and surrounding drivers at risk of a rear-end collision. Yes. An authorized Nissan dealership service department has inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the engine has suffered a total mechanical failure and needs to be completely replaced. The vehicle is currently being inspected by an authorized Nissan dealership service center, and the case has been officially escalated to Nissan corporate for a technical and warranty review. A strong burning smell and severe rough idling appeared a couple days prior to the incident. However, the check engine light did not illuminate or provide any warning until the moment the engine completely stalled on the highway.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/10/2026

Engine loss of power, exhaust producing white/gray smoke from tail pipe. Was stopped at stop light, pressed accelerator when light turned green. As I proceeded through the busy intersection, without warning, the engine lost power. As traffic was speeding up I was decelerating in front of a large tractor-trailer that nearly rear-ended me. Have not taken SUV to dealership or service center yet. No inspection has been completed. No warning, messages, or other symptoms appeared prior to the failure. The adas would shut off by itself.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/08/2026

Formal demand for repurchase or replacement under utah law and the magnuson-moss warranty act vehicle: 2023 Nissan Rogue VIN: [xxx] current mileage: 104732 to whom it may concern: I am the owner of a 2023 Nissan Rogue and am writing to formally demand that Nissan north America, inc. Resolve a serious and ongoing defect affecting my vehicle by repurchasing the vehicle, replacing it with a comparable new vehicle, or otherwise providing an appropriate remedy. The vehicle has experienced a substantial defect involving the continuously variable transmission (cvt). Nissan replaced the original cvt under the manufacturer's warranty at no cost to me. However, immediately following that replacement, the replacement transmission began exhibiting serious defects, including seizing, repeated stalling while driving, and the appearance of electrical fault codes. The vehicle continues to stall unexpectedly, creating an unreasonable safety risk for me, my passengers, and other motorists. A vehicle that loses propulsion while in traffic cannot reasonably be considered safe, reliable, or fit for its intended purpose. Despite Nissan's opportunity to repair this defect, the problems remain unresolved. Replacing one defective transmission with another defective transmission has not corrected the underlying issue. These defects substantially impair the vehicle's use, value, and safety. I have complied with Nissan's warranty requirements by presenting the vehicle to authorized Nissan dealerships for diagnosis and repair. Nissan has been afforded a reasonable opportunity to repair the vehicle but has been unable to provide a permanent remedy. Accordingly, I believe I may be entitled to relief under applicable utah law governing warranty obligations and defective new motor vehicles, as well as under the magnuson-moss warranty act, 15 u. S. C. §§ 2301–2312, which provides consumers with remedies when a manufacturer fails to honor its written warranty obligations. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (f.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/08/2026

While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power while in motion, creating a serious risk of a crash and placing my safety and the safety of other motorists at risk. There were no oil warning lights, malfunction indicator lights, or other warnings indicating an impending engine failure. After losing power, the vehicle would not restart and was completely undriveable. It had to be towed to an authorized Nissan dealership. The dealership initially advised that the no-start condition was related to the battery cable and required me to pay for a battery cable repair. My battery was only a few months old and independently tested as good. The vehicle remained inoperable after the battery cable repair, and I was subsequently informed that the engine had failed. During the oil-pan inspection, the Nissan technician documented the inspection by video and specifically identified metallic debris in the oil pan. The dealership also reported sludge. I retained the dealership’s video documentation. My vehicle is subject to a Nissan safety recall involving engine bearing degradation that can result in engine failure and loss of motive power. The recall remedy includes inspection of the oil pan for metallic debris and engine replacement when necessary. Despite the loss of power at approximately 65 mph, engine failure, and metallic debris identified by its own technician, Nissan denied the recall repair based on sludge. Nissan consumer affairs also denied my escalation. I am requesting NHTSA review Nissan’s refusal to perform the safety recall remedy and determine whether the recalled bearing condition caused or contributed to this failure. The vehicle remains at the Nissan dealership and is available for inspection.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/08/2026

In xxx my engine turned off while I was on the highway. I went to star Nissan in [xxx] and they changed the turbo hose. On xxx I got a check engine light. After 3 days the dealership said I needed a new turbocharger and the repair would cost $4100. I was told I was 9000 miles over my warranty. I currently have 69000 miles on my 2023 Nissan Rogue. According to the incomplete recall, engine bearings and low oil pressure could have caused my turbocharger to fail. The extended 10 year 120k mile warranty is not being honored by star Nissan in bayside new york. I am not being told the diagnostics codes. I was told to either pay the $4100 or pick the car up. This engine almost killed me on the highway. Now that the engine fails again I'm being denied the repair. I am being told the turbocharger is not part of the long block, eventhough the recall clearly afects the turbocharged engine. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/07/2026

Bought this car brand new from Nissan dealership 7/2023. Had issues with battery, sensor (causing car to go into low mode), and now complete engine failure all in a span of 7 months. Towed to dealership, told need new engine/turbo cost: $9,462. Reached out to Nissan consumer affairs for support as this car has less than 100k miles on it. Told nothing they can do-not on recall. Did online research and realized the same exact problems I had, was the same problems that was in the other recall cars. My car should have been on the recall list-not sure why not. Did Nissan just pick and choose which cars to add because it is ironic my car experienced the same problems. I had 3 major issues happen to the car in a span of 7 months this year. I was sold a bogus car from the dealership.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/05/2026

I was driving when I was pulled over by a police officer for speeding I was going 5 over the speed limit (speed limit was 65). As the officer approached my vehicle, he noticed flames coming from the engine compartment before I was aware there was any issue. He immediately instructed me to exit the vehicle for my safety. After I got out, the officer attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the flames continued to spread despite his efforts. The fire quickly intensified, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Emergency responders were called to the scene to extinguish the fire, but by the time the fire was under control, the vehicle had sustained severe fire damage and was no longer operable.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/04/2026

While driving car will not let me accelerate and it hesitates while driving kind of a jerking if trying to accelerate. The ac blows hot air the check engine light is on I only had the car for two months purchased from dealership.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/04/2026

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine and cvt malfunction warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the electric oil pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the electric oil pump; however, the contact was informed that the engine was potentially damaged due to the electric oil pump failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/03/2026

I was driving my 2021 Nissan Rogue on the highway, returning from the airport after picking up a friend, when the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle began jerking on acceleration. The vehicle lost power and would only move very slowly, leaving me traveling well below highway speed in active traffic. This created an extremely dangerous situation, as surrounding vehicles were approaching at full highway speed while my vehicle could not accelerate or maintain a safe speed. The vehicle also appeared to be running hot. I did not feel safe continuing to drive the vehicle, so I stopped driving it and had it taken to crest Nissan of frisco (frisco, TX) for diagnosis. The dealership retrieved diagnostic trouble codes p1217 (engine overheat) and p0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire). Upon inspection, they found low coolant, pressure-tested the cooling system, and confirmed that coolant is entering multiple cylinders, causing the misfire and overheating. The dealership states the engine cannot be repaired and the long block engine assembly must be replaced, at a quoted cost of $6,955. 49. The vehicle is barely outside the manufacturer's warranty by time and mileage. There was no warning prior to this failure, and the vehicle has been properly maintained. This is an internal engine failure (coolant intrusion into the cylinders), not a maintenance-related issue. I am aware of other 2021 Nissan Rogue owners reporting the same failure — coolant entering the cylinders/mixing with oil, misfires, overheating, and dealers requiring full engine replacement shortly after warranty expiration. This defect presents a serious safety hazard: sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate in highway traffic creates a significant risk of a rear-end collision.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/02/2026

As I was driving, air conditioner failed to function, resulting in car overheating and 'check engine' light coming on. Was able drive car safely home. Problem was later diagnosed as malfunctioning radiator fan.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/02/2026

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving out of town, the vehicle suddenly went into limp mode. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 70 mph and decelerated unintendedly. The vehicle was driven approximately 30 mph to the residence. The message “engine malfunction” was displayed, and the temperature gauge rose to hot. The 4wd message was displayed. The vehicle was pulled over and inspected, and the contact became aware that one of the coolant reservoirs was empty, and coolant was added to the coolant reservoir. The odometer and infotainment screen also repeatedly turned on and off. The vehicle was towed to a local Nissan dealer, where it was diagnosed with a coolant leak in the engine, which caused the engine failure and turbocharger failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer opened a case regarding the failure but offered to cover only 30 percent of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 95,600.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/02/2026

I have a 2020 Nissan roque sport with under 70k miles. Started experiencing loud shaking and rattle when turning off car, seems to be the radiator cooling fan. There is a current class action lawsuit but no official recall. If I turn off a/c 2 minutes before getting to park and turn off car it does not rattle when I turn off I believe it does shake and rattle but with engine running do not feel it. No warnings or engine lights come on, the temparature of car does not rise past 1/2 point.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/01/2026

"I am reporting federal safety recall non-compliance and fraudulent remedy execution by an authorized manufacturer franchise, bella Nissan of union city ([xxx]), regarding NHTSA campaign 26v-080 (Nissan recall code r25e2) on my 2023 Nissan Rogue sl fwd. I am the original owner of this vehicle, which has an exceptionally low odometer reading of 12,142 miles. The vehicle is used as primary medical transport for my [xxx] special needs son, who has a severe traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and partial paralysis. On July 1st, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership explicitly to resolve the critical engine bearing seizure and fire-risk recall. The dealership quoted a 3-hour repair window. Instead, the dealer rushed the vehicle through in 43 minutes total (start: 12:52, end: 13:35) and recorded an impossible 1-mile odometer difference (mileage 12,142, mileage out: 12,143). A single-mile drive is physically incapable of heating the engine oil to the high operating temperatures required by Nissan’s official engineering service bulletin to diagnose defective engine bearings. The dealership falsely certified to federal databases that this fire-risk vehicle was legally remedied, cleared the active safety flag on my consumer app, and billed the manufacturer's warranty department for work never performed. They also billed for a multi-point inspection and complimentary detail that were completely falsified, returning the car with an untouched, dirty windshield. The service advisor then actively withheld the paperwork I physically initialed at pickup, forcing me to take an internal 'pre-invoice audit copy' to conceal the non-compliant metrics. By rubber-stamping this safety recall on paper without executing the mandatory high-temperature diagnostic drive loop, this dealership has left an unverified fire-risk asset on the road, actively endangering a medically fragile family. I am refusing any future repair loops I want a buyback information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b).
