37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/15/2026

While on the highway, the vehicle felt sudden loss of power and a burning smell. Immediately took the next exit and entered a gas station where large volume of oil leaking under the vehicle. Exited the vehicle and called for a tow truck to bring the vehicle to the nearest auto shop who informed me that the engine was damaged internally similar to what’s described in the recall and informed me to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership for the recall repair. The dealership informed me that they are unable to perform the recall due to being unable to scan the diagnostic codes therefore cannot inspect the engine/oil pan as per the recall instructions - informed me that the engine needs to be replaced first and that I should contact Nissan consumer affairs for a good-will engine replacement approval. I contact Nissan consumer affairs and was informed that they will not be replacing the engine and cannot perform the recall until the engine is replaced; instead offered me 50% off the engine replacement cost.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2025 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

Good day, I am writing to formally raise and escalate a serious concern regarding the vehicle I recently purchased autosource company. I purchased a car through auto source company that assists International professionals in leasing or purchasing vehicles in the united states. However, upon independently checking the vehicle’s VIN, it has come to my attention that the car has an unresolved safety recall involving the electric throttle body. This issue was not disclosed to us at any point during the purchasing process, which is very concerning. As this vehicle is intended for daily family use, including transporting my children, safety is our top priority. The presence of an unresolved recall raises significant concerns about the vehicle’s reliability and overall safety. Additionally, I have made multiple attempts to contact the assigned agent regarding this matter, but unfortunately, I have not received any response to my messages or emails. This lack of communication is deeply disappointing. Given that the vehicle is scheduled for delivery on [xxx] I respectfully request the following: immediate clarification regarding the recall status confirmation that all necessary repairs will be fully completed prior to delivery. Official documentation proving that the recall has been resolved. Assistance from a supervisor or appropriate representative to handle this escalation. Please treat this matter with urgency. I would appreciate a prompt response to ensure that this issue is resolved before the scheduled delivery date. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

4/8/26 I took my car to a Nissan dealership for low coolant issues. I agreed to pay a 225 diagnostic fee. Nissan held my vehicle for 2 days eventually giving me the car back stating nothing was wrong. The car was returned to me in worse condition than before with white smoke and starting was rough. I called them to inform them as well as making a new appointment. They did a 2nd diagnosis allegedly. Now I need an entire engine and they have active recalls for the same year model for the exact same issues but won’t consider my car to be part of the recall. They allowed me to continue to drive my vehicle when it obviously needed repairs. Nissan is accepting zero responsibility! I need assistance.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/05/2026

I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the vehicle’s auto engine stop/start system. When the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine sometimes shuts off normally (other time only the auto-brakes engage, but engine stays on), but then the system behaves unpredictably. The engine attempts to restart with a violent jolt, causing the entire vehicle to shake. This occurs even when I am fully stopped with my foot on the brake. It feels like the vehicle is trying to lurch forward or restart against resistance. The issue is repeatable, happens in normal driving conditions, and creates a safety concern because the sudden jolt can startle the driver, cause unintended movement, or lead to loss of control in traffic. I believe this may indicate a defect in the auto?engine?stop system, engine mounts, starter system, or related control modules. Please investigate, as other owners may be experiencing the same unsafe behavior.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/05/2026

Incident date: 04/05/2026 vehicle speed: 65–70 mph location: [xxx] component: engine / power train / fuel system summary of safety defect: while traveling at highway speeds (65–70 mph) with four passengers (including two children), the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure without any prior warning or symptomatic noise. The malfunction indicator light (mil) began flashing rapidly, immediately followed by a total loss of motive power. Despite throttle input, the vehicle failed to maintain speed or accelerate, creating an immediate hazard in high-speed traffic. Hazardous conditions encountered: upon the loss of power, I observed white smoke trailing from the exhaust and a strong burning odor entering the cabin from the engine compartment. To avoid a high-speed rear-end collision, I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver across active lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. Due to the immediate fear of a vehicle fire (indicated by the smoke and burning smell), my family was forced to evacuate the vehicle and wait outside in a remote location for six hours. Correlation to known defects: this incident appears to be a direct manifestation of the defect described in Nissan recall id r25e3/r25e4 / NHTSA id 26v0801 regarding engine main bearing seizure. The failure resulted in a complete loss of propulsion and a potential fire risk due to fluid ignition or a breached engine block. Post-incident status: the vehicle was towed to Nissan of cumming and is currently awaiting a formal inspection for internal metal debris. The failure of this critical component under highway conditions posed a life-threatening risk to my family and other motorists. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

I went into the dealorship for an oil change and was told that I had to replace the whole oil pan because it's plastic and breaks. I should not have to worry about replacing the whole oil pan every time I get an oil change or be stranded (since it leaves me no option but to remain at the location until they replace it). This is horrible Nissan design and the manufacturer should replace with a metal pan and do a recall. This is very concerning especially in light of the engine recall due to overheating and other parts getting into and damanging the Nissan Rogue engine. Can Nissan guarentee that these plastic pans do not disintegrate over time causing microplastics to destroy my engine and causing my engine to potentially fail while I am driving on the expressway?.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

While driving at approximately 70 mph on I-76 , a “cvt hot” warning appeared on the dashboard. Immediately after, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate normally, creating a safety hazard in traffic. I was forced to pull over multiple times. This issue began after a recall repair was performed on the vehicle. The condition resolved temporarily after shutting the vehicle off, but the failure was sudden and dangerous. While driving, multiple warning messages appeared including awd system errors and check engine light. The vehicle’s performance became unstable and unreliable. This created concern about loss of control and drivability. The vehicle had recently undergone recall service, after which these issues began occurring intermittently. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Nissan dealership multiple for diagnosis of the cvt warning, awd errors, and loss of power. The dealership kept the vehicle for several hours on multiple occasions but stated they were unable to replicate the issue. No repair was performed any of the times. The safety concern remains unresolved. This continually happens and they yell at me saying there's nothing they could do. To be direct: I am aware that “unable to replicate” is often used to avoid opening warranty claims or authorizing costly repairs. However, this does not resolve the issue, nor does it eliminate the safety risk. The vehicle is demonstrably unsafe when the failure occurs, and the burden should not be shifted onto the customer simply because the issue is intermittent.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/02/2026

I am reporting a safety defect involving my 2022 Nissan Rogue related to NHTSA recall 25v437 (engine bearing failure). Prior to complete engine failure, I experienced multiple instances of sudden loss of power while driving at highway speeds, creating a serious safety hazard. In one instance, this nearly resulted in a multi-vehicle accident in heavy traffic. The vehicle also exhibited additional symptoms consistent with the recall, including engine shaking, knocking noises, rough riding and hard shifting, burning smell, and warning lights. Nissan performed the recall service, which consisted of reprogramming the engine control module (ecm). However, this software update did not repair or replace the defective engine components. The vehicle’s condition worsened after the recall service. The engine ultimately failed completely at approximately 122,000 miles, shortly after the recall repair was completed. This indicates that the recall remedy is ineffective and does not adequately address the safety risk, as a software update cannot prevent or correct pre-existing mechanical failure of engine bearings. I am concerned that other vehicles with this defect remain at risk of sudden power loss and potential crashes despite having the recall performed.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/02/2026

Engine malfunction warning - limp mode activated 6 times within a year of ownership. Car loses power while driving, rpm not responsive, speed drops and stays around 40 miles per hour. Recalls have been “addressed” but no remedy.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

While driving home, multiple alerts showed up on the dashboard about my engine and to check the manual. Smoke began to come up from the engine and smelled really bad. I heard a rattling as well. The recall work was done on this not too long ago, coming up on 1 year ago, and still have engine difficulties after they replaced the entire engine and did the recall repair.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

Hi! this is my 2nd input here about my 2022 Nissan Rogue. Recaping that whike driving home, smoke began to emerge from under the hood and multiple warning signs popped up (please see previous input for more information). Cureentky, my vehicle was diagnosed with a converter issue. The recent recall was related to the engine. The converter and my spark plugs (2 spark plugs replaced already) were all damaged by the engine. This makes sense why there are numerous issues. While the extended warranty covers the engine and not the converter, under the law of consequential damage, anything damaged by this engine is covered due to the cause from the engine. I currently have a rental and am leaving my Rogue at the dealership due to it being unsafe to drive and that the dealership has not provided a remedy for this defect, which is covered by law under this recall on the Rogue due to consequential damage. My Rogue will continue to have issues until all related/noncoverd parts are fixed under this. This vehicle is now a lemon due to consistent issue with the engine it damaging other parts. I am hoping for a good will pay and buyback.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

There is a recall on my vehicle and I took it to the local Nissan dealer jones Nissan bel air, MD. 21014 and they said their manager called Nissan and they told them there’s no recall on my vehicle but it keeps showing up in the system that there is. At this point I don’t know who to believe and I want a vehicle that is safe and reliable. The dealership said they ran tests on it and nothing comes up and they are saying it’s fine. I’m just very skeptical at this point and are considering getting rid of the vehicle.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

The vehicle became inoperable at high speeds on the interstate, I-65. My husband was able to safely merge to the right shoulder to avoid any crashes. The car made some loud clunking sounds before all power was lost. The car was then towed to the nearest Nissan dealership. It took 3 business days for the dealer to look at the car. The entire engine needed to be replaced. The dealership was able to replace the engine and complete quality assessment/drive and this was completed 4/16/2026. Because this was part of a trip interruption, the dealership is over 150 miles away from my home. I am still not reunited with my car. I have been without this vehicle for 25 days.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/24/2026

My 2022 Nissan Rogue experienced a sudden engine failure related to an active recall. The vehicle became undrivable and was taken to the dealership. The vehicle has now been out of service for over two weeks with no estimated repair completion date. This failure creates a serious safety risk, as engine failure can occur while driving and could lead to loss of power, stalling, or inability to safely operate the vehicle. The dealership has confirmed the issue but has not provided a timeline for repair. Nissan has only offered rental reimbursement, requiring out-of-pocket payment, and has not provided a loaner or direct rental despite the recall-related failure. I am currently without reliable transportation due to this failure and cannot afford to pay upfront for a rental. This has created a financial hardship. This issue should be investigated, as it involves engine failure tied to a recall and lack of adequate support while the vehicle is out of service.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/24/2026

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 70 mph, the check engine warning light and several other unknown warnings were illuminated. The vehicle lost automotive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine block was cracked, and the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 26v080000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer informed the contact that replacing the engine was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/24/2026

When driving home on the evening of 3/24, I was on the interstate (70mph) when my 2021 Nissan Rogue started to decelerate and would not gain speed. I got off at the next frontage road exit and when at the stop sign my check engine light came on and shortly after my car started sputtering when stopped and would barely gain speed. There was no prior warning lights or signs to indicate an issue. The car dealership was already closed so it was taken the morning of 3/25 where a diagnostic was performed. They said that they would need to replace the engine assembly - long block and that it wasn't covered since my VIN wasn't affected. I called consumer affairs and I am outside of the extended warranty by 2000 miles so they will not assist. This has been a known issue wth Nissans enginea failing, and their extended warranty isn't long enough. My engine should not have juat failed with no warning.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

On two separate occasions, my 2023 Nissan Rogue has experienced major loss of power while driving 80 mph. The first time, all of the dash lights were blinking and there was an awful noise coming from the engine. I could not drive over 10 mph. The vehicle had to be towed 200 miles to the nearest Nissan dealer in billings, mt. They cleared the codes, test drove it and said everything was fine. The second time my vehicle had to be towed. 115 miles from the nearest Nissan dealer. Same issues, except this time there were no dash lights. Prior to all of this happening, my car had an open recall for the 1. 5l vc-turbo engine that my car has. Since the first time this occurred and Nissan "fixed" the problem, there has been no open recall. With the second occurance, Nissan had to replace the throttle actuator and gaskets according to the invoice. Luckily, I had purchased my own extended warranty and that warranty covered $1,104. 20 of the $1,204. 20 (I paid $100 CO-pay). I was charged $715 for towing from Nissan roadside assistance. The invoice claims the Nissan found the following diagnostic results: dtc p0507-00 wwhich is directly linked to a fractured internal gear in the electric throttle control actuator, the subject of NHTSA recall 26v081 and dtc p0196 which is directly linked to engine oil temperature performance, the precursor to engine bearing seizures addressed in NHTSA recall 26v080. Nissan is currently excluding many 2023 models from the "official" recall list. My car has 67,350 miles on it, but this failure should be covered by Nissan's 10-year/120,000-mile extended powertrain warranty. The parts replaced (throttle actuator and gaskets) and the diagnostic codes are identical to those in the 2026 expanded recall populations. Denying coverage based on an "open recall" statis is a violation of the spirit of the NHTSA safety mandates for this engine. I am formally requesting/demanding reimbursment from Nissan north America for the $815 that I have been charged.

64 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

In October of 2025 my car stalled in slow traffic after a 100 mile car ride. After 20 minutes, it started again. The engine code was p0507. Two weeks later, without warning as I was accelerating on the highway the car stopped in the middle lane. This was incredibly dangerous. I had to wait 30 minutes in busy am traffic for a police escort. And the event was costly as I had to pay $200 to be towed off the highway. Once the car arrived at the service center, it started again. The mechanic convinced me to replace the purge solenoid as a starting place to address the problem. The car ran normally from November to March. In March 2026, after almost two hours in stop and go traffic, the car engine stalled out again. We pushed the car to the side of the road and waited 20 minutes. The engine started again. The coolant was below minimum and the computer code was p1217, engine overheat. My mechanic found a faulty cooling fan and replaced it on 3/17/26. This experience of the engine suddenly stopping while the car is moving with no warning or lights on the dash until the stallout has been extremely dangerous and costly. I believe Nissan knows of the cooling fan issue given online forums. Not recalling this faulty part has put me and my children in danger. In summer 2024, the air conditioner of this car stopped working in traffic. It would blow hot air. The dealership could not replicate the issue and instead charged the air conditioner costing me a lot of money. The air conditioning problem has been intermittent since. I believe this is connected to the defective cooling fan and the Nissan dealership did not do their due diligence to investigate the issue.

65 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/11/2026

After a routine oil change, the check engine light came on and would not go off. Soon after the idling warning came on, blinking and indicating a system malfunction. The vehicle has been inspected by the Nissan dealership in my area and the piston has been damaged in the engine. This has put my family and myself at risk of having possible engine failure and possible car accident.

Failure Date: 03/10/2026

My light came on it said engine malfunction reduced speed service now I checked online for recalls found one and “got it fixed” I left the dealership and had to turn back as the light came back on got it “fixed again” I left later that day my transmission light came on and reduced speed I brought it back to dealership they then kept my car for almost two weeks “fixed the problem again” 3 days later had to bring it back a 2 days later got it back and now tomorrow I have to bring it back. Major safety issue my life is in danger every time I drive as it sporadically reduces speed to under 10 miles an hour I do not feel safe I can’t drive on the highway could you imagine if that happens with people driving 70 plus miles an hour behind me I will die and this needs to be addressed ASAP.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

On 1/26/26 while driving my car started shaking. I felt unsafe driving and had the car towed to the dealership. They inspected the vehicle and could not notice the shaking but did perform recall service ntb25-05 as well as some additional items on the routine maintenance schedule. They said the recall was just an ecm software update and all should be well. 5 1/2 weeks later while driving out of town, the car suddenly felt like it lost the ability to "shift gears" and could barely make it up hills in an area that was all hills often times with no shoulder to pull off. The engine malfuction light reduce power was on. The Nissan dealer inspected and said admission valve readings were out of spec (second throttle body) and replaced. About an hour after this repair was complete and the car was driven out of the dealership, it again felt like was losing power, couldnt climb hills and service cvt power reduced light was on. (we just had cvt fluid flushed and replaced on 1/26. ) dealer removed and replaced cvt control valve assembly. The car is still rough idling and I am concerned that it will lose power with no notice again while driving putting me and others at risk. I am concerned that the throttle body and cvt issues are connected to the original ecm recall especially since other Rogues manufactured in a similar time are having throttle body issues and the fact that the codes related to the cvt issue can potentially be caused by metal shavings debris or even the ecm directly affecting the tcm and damage to the transmission.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

2018 Nissan Rogue. With just over 96,000 miles. I have been working on cars for 35 years and understand mechanics at a professional level. What component or system failed or malfunctioned?: oil level sensor. Oil temp sensor. Knock sensor. Complete rod bearing failure. Outrageously high oil temperature and oil consumption. Rod bearing started knocking. There were no warning lights or low oil level warnings. I was driving home from work yesterday and out of nowhere the rod bearing started knocking with no previous symptoms. I immediately pulled over and checked the oil level. It was literally dry as a bone. It was so low I had to add 2. 5 quarts to even show on the dipstick and 3. 5 quarts to get it to acceptable levels. Not only did this literally ruin my engine, it's going to cost over $6,000 to repair. This is obviously related to the current lawsuit against Nissan for the exact same issue involving 2019-2026 models and should have also included 2018 models. This is an incredibly dangerous safety concern, as an unlubricated engine and/or overheated oil can cause total engine lock up and friction welding of internal engine components (which is what happened to me) can lead to serious accidents, stalls, and is a massive fire and explosion danger. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? not yet were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? none! vehicle is avaliable for inspection upon request: yes.
