Very upset that alot of GMC vehicles/saturns are on a recall for airbag problems. Except mine!!! my airbag light came on for the driver's side twice now. First in Dec 2014 then suddenly went off. Took it to the dealership in April (light came on again) to have it repaired. Then messed with the wires and got the light out but said if it came on again it would need replaced. Well it's on again and it will be about $1,500+ to have it repaired!! this is obviously a manufacturing defect!! air-bags don't wear out! this is a significant safety issue which should be taken care of by GMC!!!.

I have the same problem!!!! sometimes the passenger airbag will not turn on and the light on the dash says the airbag is off when a person is sitting there. I found that if you unbuckle your seat bealt and get out and back into the seat it sometimes resets the light. Several people have posted the same unsafe condition. See-- "about 6 months ago the air bag indicator light for the passenger side started to become inconsistent in its on/off stages. My air bag light has come on numerous times in the past year when my gas goes down below a half tank. Steering becomes a bit more stiff when the light is on. It does eventually go out. When I am in and out of the car several times throughout the day the light will all of a sudden come on. My brakes act strangely when the light is on. I have had my brakes done so I know they are okay. It worries me that the airbag just randomly comes on.
I started my car and as usual the airbag light flashed like it always does. However, the airbag light remained lit up, but the passenger airbag light never lit up as being "on" even though there was a passenger in the seat. I read up on the matter and saw that a lot of Saturn Vue's have had this problem and that it could be electrical and very costly. However, a recall has never been issued even though the manual clearly states that it could be an "electrical" issue and to have the matter taken care of "immediately!" how is it safe for a company to sell a car knowing full well that there could be and have been reported cases of issues with the airbags. The manual went on to say that it could result in the airbag deploying on its own without even being in an accident! so what I'm gathering is that instead of fixing a problem by issuing a recall the company would rather have people driving their cars, quite possibly on an expressway that has a speed limit of 65 mph and with family or friends in the car, have the airbag deploy on its own and cause an accident: which in turn can turn into a trial suing the company costing them more money than it would to fix the issue! seeing as this is my only vehicle and that I don't have the cash to shell out to fix this and that it's an ongoing problem with this vehicle, I think the company needs to issue a recall and have it fixed or face a lawsuit by many unsatisfied customers.
I was driving down the street and smoke began coming from around the steering wheel of my car. A symbol of a person holding a airbag appeared on the dashboard, I then felt that the airbag was going to deployed. I immediately pulled out of traffic into a auto zone. A worker seen the smoke, and felt my car was on fire. I explained to him that the smoke is coming from around the steering wheel. He said "get out of your car, it's dangerous! the airbag lights for both driver side and passenger side come on and off. My Saturn is paid for, and I'm unemployed right now and can not afford to invest in a new vehicle. What can be done for the safety of the people who have trusted the industry?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle that the air bag warning indicator light illuminated on the vehicle's instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurs intermittently. The contact also stated that the key could be pulled out of the ignition at anytime. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed and had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure mileage. The failure mileage was 89,000. Wh.
The airbag light will just come on at any given time. It worries me that they might not deploy when I need it or they deploy as I'm driving-a serious hazard. 09/09/2014 onstar vehicle diagnostics advised me about a diagnostic alert requiring immediate attention and to call my dealership. I called the dealership and was told no recalls on this vehicle and they would do a diagnostics test to check out problem but would cost me over $100. 00. I then called gm and was told pretty much the same but was given service request number and I would get a call with in 48 hours. I did get the return call and same response. I believe they should have tested for free to be sure this will not become a recalled item after drivers become criticaly hurt or killer due to bad parts!!! law requires seat belts and airbags for our safety and manufacturer should be investigating all safety equipment.

My airbag light started coming on about eight months ago. The light was continuously lit any time the car was running. It would not go off. I receive monthly diagnostic checks on my car from onstar. It kept alerting me for months that I had safety issues with my airbag system. I kept thinking the light just would not go off. After the continued persistence by the onstar alerts, and emphatic warnings to call them and have a diagnostic run on the system while I was in the car, I finally did. The operator at onstar told me that I had a serious problem with my airbags, and that they may not deploy in an accident. They strongly recommended that I check with my car dealer. I contacted general motors and told them about the issue I was having. I stressed that I feared driving in this dangerous situation, where the airbag would not work properly in a crash. I told them that I needed to have the problem checked. After stressing my concerns , gm give me the go ahead to take the vehicle to have a diagnostic check done on the airbags. The car dealer, crews Chevrolet, in SC, found that the airbag was defective! I called gm representatives with the report of the inspection of the airbag module. The gm representative actually talked with the crews representative to understand the problem with the airbag. Gm then said that they would have my case looked at by their superiors and make a decision about how to proceed. I waited for several days and then recalled general motors to get guidance on when to take the car in for repairs. Crews quoted the cost at $880. 00. Gm said it would only assist the cost by paying $264. 00. That the airbag was out of warranty. My problem with this is---how can something as crucial as airbags be under warranty? I was shocked that the value of my life was worth less than $880 to them. I was them to replace the airbags at total cost!.
Passenger seat sensor defective. Indicator light says air bag is off even when occupied by an adult. When seat-belt is unbuckled, does not indicate passenger is unbuckled as programmed. Able to clear problem by unbuckling, raising up out of seat, forcibly sitting down, and re-buckling.
While driving at 50 mph, the airbag light started flashing often on. Within a few miles the horn started blowing intermittently. The airbag light came on and the horn started blowing continuously. It required disconnecting the battery to make it all stop. The airbags and horn had to be disabled in order to drive the car.
For second time within a year the airbag fault indicator has come on.
Driver's side airbag light sometimes on, somtimes off.
There was an ongoing problem with the passenger air bag. When a passenger sits in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag light does not go on. It was brought into the dealer on 3 or 4 times and the problem was never fixed. We were told that the passenger was not heavy enough (125 pounds). Finally this auto was brought in to the dealer on 5/28/14 and the problem was repaired. The total out of pocket cost to me was $751. 00. I was upset with general motors for not resolving this problem under warranty and decided never again to purchase a general motors auto. This car was traded in on another brand of auto.
My airbag light came on and flashed on the dashboard. It has continued to do so for this past year. Now the recall is telling us that this could be a big problem.
The air bag light comes and goes . Then when driving down the freeway the car just up and died. Had to restart it. I have also had it not pick up speed when I push the peddle . After rams drop then I can pick up speed this is something I have had going on for a while. No one can find out why.
The airbag indicator lights for both driver and passenger sides stay on most of the time, but are off sometimes. I obtained the error code from my onstar service, it is b0092. A google search returned hundreds of the similar complains about gm vehicles. I would like to raise your attention to this safety related design problem from gm.
My driver side air bag light goes on periodically. Random at first, now almost every time I'm in the car.
Passenger air bag light shows that it's not active when there's someone in the seat and the air bag problem indicator light stays lit. This is an $800-$1,000 fix and there are numerous complaints. Feel this should be rolled into the new re-call that was issued this week for the same issue! (already replaced the master control module for the electronics this past fall because everything started to fail!).
I am not sure when the front drivers side airbag came on and stayed on but I noticed it today. Does not make me feel safe to think there might be an issue with the drivers airbag but right now I cannot afford to have it fixed. So the problem is their airbag light for the driver stays on all of the time.
Last year my airbag light kept coming on and finally stayed on all the time. The sensor for the passenger seat does not work properly. It does not indicate if someone is in the seat or not. We took it to our mechanic and he advised that we would have to replace the entire seat ( I have heated seats). This is very costly and I cannot afford it. I am concerned that the airbag will not function properly when necessary. I am also concerned that if this is caused by a short somewhere, my heated seat may catch fire. I do not use the heat for this reason. Recently we are experiencing a key ignition problem. My husbands key, in particular, does not turn correctly. This is of concern to me because I am afraid that one day it will just lock up and not start. I do not want to be stranded on the road somewhere. I have been receiving messages from my onstar that there is a problem with the airbag. I hope these problems will be addressed by gm. I have seen similar complaints on this website and felt I should take action.
I have a 2006 Saturn Vue with ignition and airbag sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) issues. I have checked online at the gm recall website, called my dealer twice and filed a claim at the gm recall hotline. I am frustrated with the lack of or slow response to this problem and I do not understand why our model year was left out of the recall cycle. My situation: my ignition became increasing tight/stiff/locked to where I could not turn my key or pull it out. I would have to shake the car or key to get it to turn on. My key can slide right out of the ignition while the car is running, (but sometimes I can't pull it out). I have also returned to my car and found it running twice now and noticed it was not totally in the off position anymore). At the same time my airbag indicator light became intermittent and finally stayed on. Our mechanic notified us that the airbag sensing and diagnotic module (sdm) is no longer working. A dangerous safety issue. The dealers say that parts are not currently available for my model and my mechanic can not find them either. The cost is ridiculously high! I have now been on a mission to put in complaints with the appropriate divisions in an effort to see this situation resolved. (note this website list several complaints similar to mine and others. . On a road trip the red air bag light went on and off a few time but is now on all the time. Chevy dealer says there are no known problems with the 2008 air bag system, which I do not believe, and they will troubleshoot for $100 an hour.
Tl - the contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. The contact received NHTSA campaign number: 14v490000 (engine). The air bag light continuoslly illuminated and the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was unknown. Mc.

Passenger side seat triggers the airbag light to come on. Does this mean that the airbags no longer work?.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the front passenger side air bag indicator did not illuminate while there was an occupant present. The failure occurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the front passenger side air bag senor and seat heating element would need to be replaced. The part was ordered and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage and VIN were unavailable.
I own a 2006 Vue with heated seats. The airbag indicator light for the drivers side stays on at all times. I took it to a mechanic, and after a few days of diagnostics, he was perplexed. He took it to a certified gm dealership, and they told him the airbag system would need to be replaced. They did not tell him the reason, nor did they associate the problem with the seat warmer. They evaded further probing, and claim no responsibility, as "there is no system recall or report of defect". After reading through the hundreds of similar complaints, I believe there must be a defect. . . . . Or, I guess it is just a "coincidence" that several of the owners had this "freak" occurrence. Perhaps the costs of potential lawsuits over safety violations is less costly than performing a recall??.
I notice the beginning of the week when I started my car the air bag light and the service engine light remained on in my vehicle. I called my mechanic immediately and he told me that seemed be be a wiring or mechanical issue with the vehicle. He stated that Saturn did have a recall on the vehicle for this issue and I needed to get a hold of someone immediately. That is why I am filing his complaint asking for immediate assistance with the critical issue with my vehicle. Please if someone can contact immediately.
The airbag light on the driver's side came on when driving at a speed of approximately 50 mph. It stayed on after driving about 15 miles then went off, and then came back on again and stayed on for several more miles. This was the first incident. Now, each time that I drive the car, the airbag light comes on and stays on longer. It seems to go off when I hit a bump and/or turn the wheel, but then comes back on again. I checked into having it fixed, and it could cost as much as $1200 to fix it. I was told the original system that was installed is faulty and that many Saturn Vue's 2006 have this same exact problem. I contacted Saturn and they said that since there has not been a recall, they won't cover the cost to install a new one. This is definitely a safety issue, when the driver's airbag is not working! since there have been so many complaints about the airbag systems in the Saturn Vue, why hasn't Saturn issued a recall? aren't our airbags supposed to last for the life the car or until there is a crash making it deploy? right now if I am in a crash, my airbag won't deploy and the reason it won't deploy is that the original system is faulty.
Air bag light keeps coming on intermittently and when check it showed the third row left side impact sensor. This is the second time that I have had issues with the air bag system. I just want to know why a recall hasn't been issued if this is common with all Saturn?s. This is putting my family and me at risk. Gm needs to step up and fix this issue.
I own a 2007 Saturn Vue which was purchased brand new in may 2007. The driver's side airbag light illuminates for weeks before it will turn off. I have taken it to the dealership and they can not find any problems so they say. Right after I bring the vehicle home the problem begins again. The vehicle was under warranty but the warranty has since expired and I don't think I should be the one to pay for a repair when it is obviously a manufacture problem. I have been reading the same problem from quite a few owners. Why does someone have to get seriously hurt or die for that matter before the manufacture will do something to prevent possible injury? the part probably doesn't cost that much for the manufacture to fix but they would rather risk getting sued for millions than fix a $$ problem. Oh the shame!.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the air bag light constantly illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the illumination of the air bag light indicated that the air bag was not functioning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for a diagnostic test, but the dealer did not inform the contact what the cause of failure was or if any repairs were necessary. The failure mileage was 100,000.
The passenger airbag light comes on intermittently regardless of speed, condition, or time of day. Seats have not been wet from spillage or abuse. This failure causes me concern because I don't know what is next. And, is the airbag going to activate.
