I was parking the car and needed to move the vehicle backward in a parking lot with a slight slope. When I attempted to move the shift lever to reverse the lever locked up and the vehicle started to role backward. I applied the brakes to no avail and the engine died. The steering was locked. The ignition switch also locked. The vehicle stopped . I called the Toyota dealer and the service manager said to apply the brakes vigorously, at the same time pump the accelerator and turn the ignition. I did and the functions all started working. No damage, no injuries. This occurred in fredericks burg, TX this appears to be the same incident in complaint # 10585286, dated 3-17-2014.

Our keys would not work to start our van, we were stranded for 45 minutes with our 3 children. Dealership says broken tumbler, $250 to replace not covered by warranty. We reported same problem 5-6 months ago dealership made new key which worked briefly. Obviously a major defect, very dissappointed in Toyota.

A rattling noise was heard in the sliding door. The car vibrated when driven at any speed and the ignition switch was defective. The owner was frustrated with all that was happening with little or no results. The check engine light had come on and was taken to the dealer on several occasions for the same problem.
