Brake Electric Antilock Problems of Toyota Tundra - part 1

2007 Toyota Tundra DC 5. 7l limited. I was driving on the freeway and I went to pass another vehicle when I got into the next lane and another car changed lanes in front of me and I was forced to slam the brakes. The abs system engaged and slowed vehicle down , but the truck felt like it was being pushed forward. . . By this time I had enough room in front of me, so I let off the brakes and the truck jumped like I was holding my foot on the gas. I almost hit the car in front of me again. I slammed on the y brakes again and the abs system kicked in, and the truck was still trying to accelerate, but I held the brake hard enough that I didn't hit the car in front of me. At this point I had to do something. I stuck the truck in neutral and tried to get to the side of the freeway. When I got stopped I had 3 lights on . , brake, vsc, and a picture of a car with 2 crooked lines on it. I believed it was traction control. By now the truck was normal again but the lights were on so I took the truck straight to the dealer .

Since day one that I have purchased the truck I have complained that the brakes don't slow the truck down as it should. That you have to pump it at least one time for them to act normal when slowing down. Some times it is over half way to the floor before you stop. And that is with out pulling a load. When I talked to the dealership (jay wolfe Toyota of k. C) was told that "it was magic brakes" , I have had to go back to the days of old where you give it a pump then it works. I have almost rear ended several people. These brakes are dangerous. And I paid $50,000. For that. They did not consider this to be a problem that maybe I needed to get use to the truck.

Rear bearing failure in 2004 Toyota Tundra, related parts abs gear broke. Not able to control truck at a regular stop feels like truck wants to keep going. Also feels like the rear violently shifts. Number of vehicles with same problem are unknown. But is a ordinary thing according to local dealers!!!!!!!!!.

My husband and I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tundra access cab on 11/25/06 at Toyota of fort worth texas . Less than 6 days later, we were driving home on a street that leads to our house,less than a mile, we have been traveling this road for at least 15 years. It was slightly raining, we approached the curve to the left on this road. Made the curve and all of a sudden the wheels broke loose, my husband tried to correct but the truck began to accelerate, then turned completely sideways and crashed into two trees that were less than 5 feet from the road. It also appears that the 4 wheel anti lock brake system wasn't working.

When applying the brakes on my o6 Tundra 4x4 18,000 miles my stering wheel will jerk to the left and return. It does it more when brakes are hot from stop and go traffic. I am concerned what will happen on ice. I have had it to the dealer 4 times and have left it for 2 days for them to resolve this problem. They have not fixed or resolved the problem. They also had the Toyota southeast rep look at it for 2 days and still did not fix the problem.

While drivingthe vehicle skidded into the right lane. Driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and took vehicle to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic insisted that the problem could not be duplicated.

While driving consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Consumer was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and hit another vehicle head on. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained injuries, and went to the hospital the next day. The vehicle was towed to a body shop.

When braking, the consumer felt a vibration coming from the front end. The rotors were warped.

2000 Toyota Tundra limited: I purchased my vehicle when it only had 34,000 miles on it. I now have 98,000 miles on my truck and I have always had brake problems, shaking, pulsating. I have replaced my rotors before and shortly after the same problem was back in no time. I am wondering if there is a recall on the brakes for this particular model. If not there should be. I have been on numerous discussion boards and people still with factory warranties and all or barely over have had there brakes overhauled at no charge.

While driving at any speed vehicle vibrated when applying the brakes. Dealer was notified, and floor manager admitted there was a problem with this vehicle, also, indicated there was a technical service bulletin on this problem.

When applying the brakes there was a vibration that caused the whole truck to vibrate. The dealership knew about this problem and did nothing because the vehicle's warranty expired.

When depressing the brakes the pedal pulsated resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer contacted the dealer about this issue but was not satisfied with the response.

Brake vibration on 2000 Toyota Tundra 2x4 sr5 extended cab.

Shuttering during braking causing excessive wheel play and loss of brake power. Toyota replaced fronts in 05/2001 at 20000 and now at 40000 it is happening again. Toyota needs to recall the brake problem and solve the issue for all Tundra owners.

Consumer applied brakes at 55 mph, brakes locked up, consumer lost control of vehicle, and went into a ditch. Damage to vehicle unknown at this time, no injury.

2001 Toyota Tundra. The consumer states he has wheel hop when braking and the vehicle shimmies. There is a TSB, but the consumer is responsible for the payment. This started at 30,000 miles. The brakes were replaced at 42,000 miles. The problem came back after the brakes were replaced. This problem has been going on since the purchase of the vehicle.

Since we have purchased this truck we have had the brakes replaced three times. This has been done in a period of 6 months. We have a substantial amount of money invested in this vehicle and now the warranty will be running out soon forcing us to absorb the cost of replacing brakes every 15000 miles. While traveling over 30 mph and applying brakes with medium or hard brake application brakes operated poorly. Dealership has informed consumer that they will not perform any service to that vehicle. Rear drums out of round causing vehicle to vibrate while braking, front rotors warp instantly, consumer states vibration is also felt in steering wheel and brake pedal, dealer has attempted to repair, however has been unsuccessful.

When abs kicks in it intermittently makes a loud banging noise, almost like vehicle is back firing. When vehicle makes sudden stops pedal shakes and abs kicks in. Toyota inspector says noise is normal.

When applying brake pedal it goes to floor. Dealer told consumer that was how those vehicles' brakes functioned.

Toyota has refused help on this issue. No safety defect listed.

Consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway, and there was a vehicle in front of him, he applied brakes, and brakes were hesitating and vibrating.

Abs brakes are ineffective on ice. Competent driver locked out of ability to stop,.

Probelm is occurring again and is intermittent; dealership says they can't repair what they can't duplicate although it is the same problem as before. No safety defect listed within summary.

While driving brakes locked up and vehicle slid, resulting in a collision. Took vehicle to the dealer. Also, experienced some very erratic vibration while in traffic. Please provide any further information.

Brakes had to be replaced at approx 18,000 miles due to severe vibration in steering wheel and brake pedal when applying brakes ,especially at highway speeds. By the time vehical had reached 45000 miles, the brakes had been replaced six (6) additional times,and for the same reason. Dealership very cooperative and has advised me that Toyota knows there is a problem with brakes on Tundra and has assigned a "techniqal team " to solve the problem. What do I and other Tundra owners, especially those with vehicals out of warrenty like mine,do until the brake problem is solved. Toyota customer relation office in cincinnati unhelpful and provided misinformation to both wife and myself.
