Toyota requires the abs system to be recalibrated. The only way is by going to a Toyota dealership and having the technicians use the fancy expensive diagnostic tools and computer software. I got my brakes changed by a reputable shop. However, I did not know whether they knew this or not. Now my front passenger pad is always rubbing on the rotor. These issues may cause high fuel consumption, strain on the transmission and driveline components, and even the possibility of fire. It would be really helpful if Toyota built vehicles that can easily be maintained as well as less complicated systems requiring owners to pay dealership prices for maintenance that should allow the owner to address it or any mechanic shops.

The contact's father-in-law owns a 2025 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while her father-in-law was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes independently activated. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped excessively hard. In addition, because of the hard vehicle stop, the contact's father-in-law and mother-in-law were jerked forward very hard. The contact stated that her father-in-law and mother-in-law, who were seated in the front passenger's seat, stated that the impact felt like it could have caused whiplash. The contact stated that the two brake sensors were disabled prior to the drive. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not associated. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that because the VIN was not associated with the recall, the dealer had declined to inspect or repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
While driving forward at approximately 20mph, the automatic emergency brake system activated, causing the vehicle to come to a stop. There were no vehicles or other object in front of the vehicle that should have caused the automatic brake system to activate. This has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle. The system cannot be turned off or disabled by the driver. This system engaging on its own creates a major safety hazard, as vehicles behind have to stop to avoid hitting my stopped vehicle.

I have taken my vehicle in more than 3 times, regarding braking issues, the vehicle would brake automatically even when there is nothing in front of it, the pre collision sensor comes on in rain when there is no debris in front of it. Vwhicle was having throttle lag when come to a complete stop at a light. Now the panoramic roof is leaking, took it to the dealer more than 3 rimes for some these issues, regarding the roof leak, they said they were unable to duplicate it, I have videos showing it was leaking & pictures of all the malfunction from the dashboard.

As I was coming down thew mounts (44 miles of 7-9% grade) as I slightly hit the brakes the truck shook so badly is was vibrating me off the road. The only way to avoid to to put strain on my engine as to manually shift it down to 3rd gear to forcibly slow the truck to a speed where this could be controlled. Causing overall traffic issues.
The brackets supporting the right rear brake line were severely rusted and failed. The brake line cracked at the juncture of the wheel cylinder attachment nut. Subsequently, there was a total loss of braking action on all wheels. The dual cylinder master cylinder failed to actuate the front brakes. There was no braking action. The emergency brake had to be deployed in order to stop the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to prevent a crash with another vehicle that had pulled in front of the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to veer into another lane safely, and the crash was avoided. The brake warning light was illuminated after the failure. The contact continued driving and was able to slow down by shifting the transmission into a lower gear. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with brake line failure which lead to the brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir becoming empty. The brake line was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 277,000.

Soft pedal when braking goes nearly to floor before engaging. Repairs attempted flushing brakes, new brake fluid and new master cylinder at dealer still not fixed. Toyota wants to replace abs actuator but cannot guarantee it will fix the problem. Many instances of this on Toyota and no solutions. Toyota is ignoring the problem.

Engine is misfiring, truck vibrates when breaking when accelerating the engine cuts out dealership confirmed at service on 2/4/2025 that sensor needs to be replaced, need breaks, four tire rotation no no.

I need to have rear shock replaced. They found that the bracket holder rusted thru . Shock was fine . The rear frame corrosion and separation, spare tire frame corrosion is really bad. I have had this truck since 2004 . I absolutely love my truck. I am deeply saddened that all the care I took still didn’t prevent all this damage .
I have so many problems with my truck and the surging engine as well as squealing brakes, lane assist is disabled but comes on and jerks the truck out of my lane and it's impossible to steer almost causing me to crash numeroys times. Every time I try to get the engine replaced which I've been waiting over a year and I was in phase 2 and every Toyota dealership tells me something different. I can't even sell this truck privately because it needs a new engine. I have 25,300 miles as of today and I've had it in the shop so many times and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. The headliner fell down onto my head and took it in for service and I got it back worse because they broke all the clips that hold the interior headliner in place and it's hanging down. Every time I bring it in for something they tell me the parts are not available but what they're doing is trying to make me run out of my warranty which is in 2 months. They're trying to sell me an extended warranty but they can't even fix anything that's under warranty right now. I really need your help here because there's so many other issues that I haven't even gone over. Everything is misaligned on this truck and they can't fix it my rear passenger door never latched correctly and they don't know what to do they just give it back to me the same way and I have small children that sit back there but they claim they don't know how to fix it.
First I had my engine replaced in may 2025 under the recall and service advisor informed me it would be about 3 days before they completed the engine swap and it had to sit to make sure there were no leaks anywhere and in less than 24 hrs the called me and told me my truck was all done. I went to pick my truck up they had it waiting in the service line with the engine running, I heard a strange ticking noise coming from under my hood that sounded like a lawnmower engine, the service tech tells me that is normal with the replacement engines which is absolutely false. Being a woman they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I got frustrated and got in my truck and when I came to the first stoplight when the light turned green and I stepped on the gas pedal, my truck would not move, after about 5 seconds it surged forward and then again wouldn't move, then again my truck surged forward with a loud thud in the rear like somebody hit me from behind. It feels like it isn't kicking into gear and also my steering wheel was not centered when they swapped the engine so I have to hold my steering off to one side for my truck to drive straight. This has been a nightmare for me and Toyota refuses to acknowledge there is anything wrong. I've also been waiting for 7 months to get my front brakes fixed under the TSB and all they say is we don't have parts available, meanwhile they're building new trucks with new brake pads, rotors and calipers before taking care of the people waiting months and months? they try and wait until your warranty runs out so I have to pay for the fix. Please help. Thank you, lisa gordon.
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a routine brake line repair, the contact was informed that the sub frame was severely corroded. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. No further information was available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the nhsta hotline for assistance. On February 25, 2025, I took my 2023 Toyota Tundra VIN# [xxx] to stokes Toyota beaufort, SC, for its 45,000-mile service. Just 300 meters after leaving the dealership, my truck caught fire, causing significant damage and putting my safety at risk. I am sharing pictures of the incident and the warning messages I received on the dashboard. I was on my way back to the dealership when this happened. At first, the truck was shaking and losing power. I managed to make a u-turn to return to the dealership, but then the engine stalled. At that moment, I started seeing warning messages on the dashboard. I immediately called the dealership to inform them that I was experiencing issues with my truck. While still on the phone with the dealership, I noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. Moments later, flames started emerging from the hood. I quickly hung up and called 911. 1- what component or system failed or malfunctioned? I believe the engine and possibly the brakes failed (based on the dashboard warning messages). 2- how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? within minutes, my truck burned completely. I am grateful I didn't have my children with me at the time. 3- has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I received formal letters from Toyota manufacturer, Toyota distributor, and the dealership, stating that they are sorry for what happened but cannot offer any assistance with my claim. 4- has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? yes, the insurance company, fire marshal, dealership, Toyota, and engineering analysis associates (eaa) have all inspected the vehicle. 5- were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? yes, the truck was shaking, losing power, and eventually stopped completely, displaying warning messages on the dashboard. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C.
Brakes - when descending down a hill at speed the brakes on my truck pulsate as if the rotors are warped. My family was put at risk due to the brakes not functioning properly and causing me to let off the braking system in order to prevent overheating. I asked my dealer to review the brakes and they indicated nothing is wrong, I can reproduce this action anytime for the dealership with a simple ride up and down the mountain. This could result in a crash harming myself, my family, or other motorists. The problem began between 5k-10k miles and is getting worse. My truck currently has 16k miles. The brakes should last 40k-60k miles with no problem. Engine/fuel system - since new, my truck has never met the window sticker epa ratings listed. 22-23 models being recalled due to engine failure leads me to believe my engine is not performing at peak performance, thus, affecting fuel economy. I am afraid my model (built in 2023) is slowly experiencing the same main bearing failure as the 22-23 models suffered, having catastrophic results and was recalled to have a full engine replacement. My engine failing while driving could result in a crash harming myself, my family, or other motorists. I prefer not to wait for my engine to fail, given the fact that 22-23 models have all been recalled due to this manufacturing defect. Some, if not all 2024 models should also be recalled out of abundance of precaution.
The trailer brake controller went out. It does not supply electronic braking and the truck no longer recognizes the controller on the dashboard. Multiple on line chats and forums, along with my trailer provider, show awareness of this defect. Online individuals learned of the issue during emergency stopping. This appears to be known and wide spread.

We are leasing a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The brakes are screeching when we reverse. We reported the issue to the Toyota dealership located on ih 35 , in san antonio, texas. We then called and made an appointment to repair the brakes more than a month ago. My husband went to the appointment. He was provided with a courtesy ride back home because the brakes would take most of the day. He no sooner got home and the courtesy taxi was coming back to pick up our Tundra, Toyota service told him that they did not have the brake parts to make the repair and they would call us when they received the parts to make the repair. It has been over a month and we have called several times and spoken to several service people and sales about the bad service. One of the service workers stated that they were waiting for parts and the parts were still not available. This is a very poor and unacceptable excuse. I want to return the Tundra and I want the down payment that I have given when I purchased this vehicle.
My 2006 Tundra has major rust on the frame to the point it isn't safe to drive anymore. I have reached out to Toyota and my local dealer and have received the same answer from both saying its not something that Toyota will cover, despite the fact that there was a national safety recall that started in 2016 for rust related issues.
The engine has 13,441 miles on it and it has been consuming 4 quarts of oil in 1700 miles. The dealer sealed the engine and is performing an oil consumption test. Approximately 500 mile into the test the check engine light started flashing due to a misfire. The dealer found that the #1plug was fouled out and had to be replaced. At 1029 miles into the test the truck was idling in a parking lot for about 8 minutes when it started to misfire and stumble. After stepping on the throttle to clear out the misfire, the dash lit flashing multiple warnings including the breaking system was stuck on hindering the truck from being able to move. After several restarts and playing with the parking brake I managed to get the parking brake off. It still had the flashing check engine light on and flashing. The pre-collision light was flashing, along with the traction control light was flashing and none of the safety systems were working.
Brakes squeaked since date pic purchased. We brought it up to the dealer’s attention at longo Toyota in el monte,CA during a service. They mentioned they know about it as serval Tundra owners have complained about it but Toyota has no recall at the time.

There are many incidents, issues, and critical safety problems with my vehicle. I have had multiple repair attempts, with multiple Toyota car dealerships, and have continued to have the same amount of problems, and issues with this vehicle. Multiple leaks of fuel, smells of gas and burning, odometer reads brakes failing, and danger lights, transmission shifting issues, engine knocking while driving and at a complete stop, brake issues, by the grace of god my family and I have not been in an accident yet. I have taken my car in for repairs multiple times and to this day my vehicle is still being repaired at the dealership as we speak. My vehicle has cumulatively been at the dealership for almost 3 months. My family and I are under an assortment of insurmountable mental, and physical stress with the level of unsafe, unfit, and unreliable attempts to not only trust this vehicle to operate safely, but trust the service technicians to safely, and correctly diagnose the many unsafe issues with this vehicle. I have made several attempts in filing cases, complaints, and attempts of contact, to resolve these multiple issues with the manufacturer, and have had no such luck. Please, for the safety and daily life continuity of my family. Please help me resolve these issues with the manufacturer. My family, and I do not feel safe and do not feel like our issues are being acknowledged or resolved. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done so that my family can safely, and cordially operate a functioning vehicle. Thanks and god bless. I backed out of my drive way and then proceeded to the stop sign at the end of my street which is three houses from mine. Turned left off of milwaukee Ave in hines onto e. Pettibone I started to accelerate to speed limit which is 25. I then looked at speedometer it stated I was going 15 mph then all of a sudden my truck accelerated to almost 69 mph then my truck slammed in the brakes. My foot was still on the gas petal and I never felt the gas petal push down when it accelerated. No my cruise control was not activated and no lights came on to indicate what it was doing or that there was anything wrong. Steve’s hometown Toyota could not find anything wrong with the truck, but then again I don’t trust them I gave them a month to get the guy to fix it and the part and the loaner to fix the canister on my highlander but when my appointment came up the guy couldn’t stay the full 5 hours to fix my car and they did not have a loaner and did not have the part. That is how I got into the 2023toyota Tundra. Then it develops a brain that it wants to go faster then slammed on the breaks. That truck hurt me and gave me whiplash. They want me to pick it up. I am not driving it. I am lucky no one was in the truck and on the road the time the incident happened. I have made a report totoyota and let them know that I have doctors notes and my daughter was on the phone with me through the truck not on my phone. I am afraid that they are going to put me back into the same truck that hurt me. Know I find out that the 2023 trucks have a recall on them. They still don’t have an answer for me. What if they put me in another Toyota truck what if they have the same problems. I used to have faith in Toyotas but now I don’t. It hurt me and I am still having issues from that stupid truck.
This case results from the malfunctioning trailer brake ecu on 2018-2019 Tundras. There is a Toyota service bulletin t-sb-0036-19, which specifies an updated controller to replace the defective model. Part # : original 89547-0c020 update/replacement 89547-0c060 Toyota will not replace this defective part outside of the original warranty period despite the issuance of an updated replacement part. The service bulletin wasn’t even issued until 4/19 possibly giving no recourse to owners whose warranty had tolled. The newer part number, suggests this was a dangerous defect that was upgraded. A review of this matter online details this problem has frequently occurred. The reason it’s not more commonly reported is that a minority of Tundra owners tow trailers, and even fewer tow with electric brakes. Regardless, this is a significant safety issue where the Tundra owners are forced pay about $1,100 to repair this defective part. This matter should be elevated to a recall since losing the functionality of one’s trailer brakes is a very dangerous situation.

Occurring for 2+ years bought vehicle used in 2017 with 13k on truck now 2024 has 91k on truck love the truck but zero recalls for any of the above?.
Brakes were bad and squeaky from the first week I received the vehicle, Toyota claims it’s a known issue but for the past 6 months says the parts are on back order. The brakes are getting worse and worse.
Truck hesitates when acceleration from a dead stop, brakes has squealed since new 1) when pulling out in traffic, truck randomly hesitates and then jerks to go, very concerning and unknown if I will pull into traffic and the truck wont go 2) brakes have squealed since it had 3k miles, very concerning that they will not stop the truck in an emergency.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph and depressing the brake pedal to stop for a traffic signal, the vehicle's rear end was swerving to the right and left directions. The contact stated that the rear wheels had at moments stopped turning which made the vehicle skip and bounce before he was able to stop. Additionally, the contact stated that when he was driving at approximately 65 mph and traffic was slowing down, as he depressed the brake pedal it traveled to the floorboard in order to slow the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the failure was not able to be diagnosed. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer three other times for the same failure and was told that the failure was not able to be duplicated.
