I backed out of my drive way and then proceeded to the stop sign at the end of my street which is three houses from mine. Turned left off of milwaukee Ave in hines onto e. Pettibone I started to accelerate to speed limit which is 25. I then looked at speedometer it stated I was going 15 mph then all of a sudden my truck accelerated to almost 69 mph then my truck slammed in the brakes. My foot was still on the gas petal and I never felt the gas petal push down when it accelerated. No my cruise control was not activated and no lights came on to indicate what it was doing or that there was anything wrong. Steve’s hometown Toyota could not find anything wrong with the truck, but then again I don’t trust them I gave them a month to get the guy to fix it and the part and the loaner to fix the canister on my highlander but when my appointment came up the guy couldn’t stay the full 5 hours to fix my car and they did not have a loaner and did not have the part. That is how I got into the 2023toyota Tundra. Then it develops a brain that it wants to go faster then slammed on the breaks. That truck hurt me and gave me whiplash. They want me to pick it up. I am not driving it. I am lucky no one was in the truck and on the road the time the incident happened. I have made a report totoyota and let them know that I have doctors notes and my daughter was on the phone with me through the truck not on my phone. I am afraid that they are going to put me back into the same truck that hurt me. Know I find out that the 2023 trucks have a recall on them. They still don’t have an answer for me. What if they put me in another Toyota truck what if they have the same problems. I used to have faith in Toyotas but now I don’t. It hurt me and I am still having issues from that stupid truck.

This case results from the malfunctioning trailer brake ecu on 2018-2019 Tundras. There is a Toyota service bulletin t-sb-0036-19, which specifies an updated controller to replace the defective model. Part # : original 89547-0c020 update/replacement 89547-0c060 Toyota will not replace this defective part outside of the original warranty period despite the issuance of an updated replacement part. The service bulletin wasn’t even issued until 4/19 possibly giving no recourse to owners whose warranty had tolled. The newer part number, suggests this was a dangerous defect that was upgraded. A review of this matter online details this problem has frequently occurred. The reason it’s not more commonly reported is that a minority of Tundra owners tow trailers, and even fewer tow with electric brakes. Regardless, this is a significant safety issue where the Tundra owners are forced pay about $1,100 to repair this defective part. This matter should be elevated to a recall since losing the functionality of one’s trailer brakes is a very dangerous situation.

Truck hesitates when acceleration from a dead stop, brakes has squealed since new 1) when pulling out in traffic, truck randomly hesitates and then jerks to go, very concerning and unknown if I will pull into traffic and the truck wont go 2) brakes have squealed since it had 3k miles, very concerning that they will not stop the truck in an emergency.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph and depressing the brake pedal to stop for a traffic signal, the vehicle's rear end was swerving to the right and left directions. The contact stated that the rear wheels had at moments stopped turning which made the vehicle skip and bounce before he was able to stop. Additionally, the contact stated that when he was driving at approximately 65 mph and traffic was slowing down, as he depressed the brake pedal it traveled to the floorboard in order to slow the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the failure was not able to be diagnosed. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer three other times for the same failure and was told that the failure was not able to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.
We have had this vehicle about a year and a half, 2023 Toyota Tundra and have had to take it back and forth to mclarty Toyota for recall work. Concerning this particular recall, 24ta07-engine may stall during driving, we were told is unfixable. If this vehicle cannot be fixed, we are demanding it be replaced with a reliable truck.
Brakes have squealed since new. TSB was released but we've been waiting nearly 2 months for parts. Unacceptable.

This truck has squeaky brakes. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with the complaint department at the corporate office. They are aware of the situation. I keep being told it is a know issue and parts are not available to repair the situation. Because this is a brake issue I am very concerned about my safety as I drive this vehicle, please investigate this issue with Toyota and I believe a safety recall should be issued, in my many conversations with them I don. T feel they are concerned with this issue. I have been complaining and following up for over a year. I'm tired of complaining on deaf ears.
When you pass other vehicle on the hwy way break malfunction light come on and lock the back wheels. First time Toyota call me for check up and they change spark plug and charge me more than $600. It happen next time and they call me for check up. I went to Toyota and show my video and picture about break malfunction. They charge me for diagnosis $189 and found nothing. It will very danger if I pass the one lane county road and malfunction my break system so far no accidents, ihave video and picture of dash board. Date ,time and place that occurred. Also receipts from toyata. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The vehicle made an abnormal sound and failed to stop immediately. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the front brakes needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
While traveling at highway speed, with no warning my truck lost acceleration power. There were other vehicles in the road, and I had to travel across multiple lanes to get to an exit while the vehicle was continuously slowing down. This put myself and my children at risk due to the sudden loss of power. I was able to exit and turn the engine off, after which, the problem seemed to stop. I took my truck to the dealership where it was purchased to have them check the truck, and they were unable to reproduce the problem. Their inspection only showed them that there were engine misfires. They told me the issue would need to be reproduced or would need to happen to me again before anything could be done about it or before they could get Toyota involved. I did explain that I had the "reduced engine power" and "brake system malfunction" warning light that, through my research, have been experienced with other Tundra owners when they had "engine failures. ".
On April 6, 2024 I was driving my 2006 Toyota Tundra when the brakes gave out and the vehicle went through the back wall of my garage. The brake fluid spilled onto the street and onto my driveway. There are 3 witnesses to this including a police officer. I am lucky that I was not a highway when this happened. I had the Tundra towed to a repair garage and they put it on a hoist. Two mechanics showed me the underside which is completely rusted , including some holes. They told me I would have continuous problems because of the rust. They also said that Toyota may have had a recall for my vehicle. I did the research and found that to be accurate. The recall includes millions Toyotas, including my Toyota Tundra, built between 2004 and 2008. So mine is eligible. However, Toyota did not contact me about the recall. Toyota did contact me about another recall involving the air bags. Toyota sent me a letter about the air bags. I still have the letter and I can send a copy if you wish. So, they have my name, address, and they know that I own the Tundra. But they did not contact me about the frame rust. Had they done so, I would have acted immediately. I purchased the vehicle in 2012, so it was a used vehicle. So, Toyota, obviously has had plenty of time to notify me, but they did not. I called Toyota and gave the person I talked to the VIN. She looked it up and told me there is " no service history of rust frame repair" for my Tundra" on their system. Toyota needs to rectify this. I expect that Toyota will pay for the rust frame damage, as they have for millions of other Toyotas, and for other damage to my vehicle, and other costs including towing costs, taxi service, the insurance deductible that I must pay for damage to my garage, two new front tires and other costs as they become known. This is only fair.

I did a software update when it pops up on my lcd screen. Then the screen turns black and multiple sensors came on. Lta sensor brake fail sensor crash senor and more. I look online and found out it has a apple car play issue that cause sensor to malfunction. I don't know if my truck is safe to drive. Afraid the airbag will blow up because of the crash sensor popping up and the failure brake senor also popping up. I took it took my local Toyota dealer sandia Toyota they didn't even look at it and made false accusations and try to charge me when my truck at 20000 miles. I took it to another dealer to get it fix. The incident started 4/6/2024 and today is 4/23/24 and I still have no truck to drive. I paid 70k for it but more concern for other. Please look into this issue making sure it safe for me and other.
I was driving on highway 98 at 76 miles an hour. A light came on the dash said engine is low on power. Then immediately the car said to get to the side of the road the engine had shut off. This was in the middle of a drive on the interstate. I almost got hit by a truck. With family in the car. I made an appointment at our local dealer for all the recalls and they canceled it last Friday due to their service force being sick. This almost got me and my son killed.
I am having problems with the integrated brake controller constantly disconnecting when pulling any type of trailer. When ever I pull a trailer I never know when the controller will disconnect and I'll lose brakes on my trailer. This happens at any speed while towing. This seems to be a thing for 2018 Tundras, as I've read about many other complants.
Rotors have been replaced once already. Still vibrating severely during braking at 50-60 mph speeds. Especially downhill.
A few complaints: #1: first is the infotainment system continuously requests a pin be entered. I would enter the pin, but the pin screen pops up again and again whenever the system is on. Had the dealership look at it, they stated the info system has the latest software and I was instructed to contact Toyota. After a 2+hour phone call, resetting app passwords a few times, resetting pin a few times, starting the truck a certain way, and other things I cannot completely remember, finally got it to accept the pin and stop pin request screen from popping up. That worked for about 1 week, and since then the screen pops up. I no longer try to enter the pin just hit the x button (kind of hard and dangerous entering 6 digit pin 30 times while going 75 on the highway). I would estimate screen popping up about every 1-2 minute. #2: truck has 6,400 miles on it, brakes started squealing around 4k miles or less, getting progressively worse. I have tried washing brake dust away at car wash, no help. Sounds like when a car is getting to the last of the brakes. Are they that worn in 6k miles, I hope not, but how am I supposed to know when or if they need to be replaced? very annoying, and dangerous since I can't rely on the brakes squealing to let me know need replaced. #3: 1 week ago after stopping at a red light, about 5 seconds passed when the truck jerked violently and slightly moved forward, all while I had the brake pedal pressed. It was so hard I was certain I had just got rear ended, but as I looked in the mirror preparing to get out of the truck, I saw the car behind me was barely approaching 20+ feet back. This is only time it has happened so far, but very concerning, will let the dealership know as well, but I can already hear their response "we weren't able to replicate the issue". Fuel line recall, still haven't fixed it (but will be setting appointment to take it in for all the described things, again, and hopefully get my 2nd key, been 9 months already).
I was driving in a 25 mph zone approaching a red light preparing to stop. I had increased the pressure on my brake pedal and then my foot slipped of the pedal just seconds before I ran into a truck that was stopped at the red light. After further investigation I found out that the brake pedal pad has been substituted by Toyota manufacturing. My 2020 Tundra was purchased new and has 8,800 miles on it. The petal pad is made from a pvc plastic material as stated on the bottom of the pad. There are no part #s on the pad which is suspicious that this is not a Toyota pad. The pvc material is very slippery, especially if the surface was wet. Come to find out that my 2023 RX 350 has the same brake pad. Both of these pedal pads will be replaced immediately from Toyota. Please note. I could not upload any of the documents that you had requested. Something is corrupted with the web page that asks for upload files??????.

My brakes has been malfunctioning since last year November of 2023, the dealership is aware of this. It is putting me and others at risk because I am not sure when my brakes will fail, it has been inspected and confirmed by the dealership.
When I drive my vehicle it is difficult to apply the brakes on it and I feel like if I press too hard (which might be necessary if I need to suddenly stop) that the brakes might break or fail somehow. I have also noticed that underneath my truck, the frame is rotting out in certain areas and the leafs (steel long plates near the rear of the vehicle) is bending out of shape. There is a clanking noise near the front of the vehicle that concerns me as well when I pass through a small bump.

While descending a steep grade towing an 8,000lb travel trailer using appropriate hill descent braking techniques, an error message came on the dash indicating a trailer wiring, type, or connection fault. From this point forward, I had no trailer brakes and was left with truck brakes only. I got the truck/trailer combination to the bottom of the grade safely, however this could have been catastrophic for an inexperienced driver or in a different situation. Upon further investigation, this is a common problem with Toyota Tundra’s, and acknowledged by Toyota in TSB # t-sb-0036-19 issued on April 1, 2019. The dealer and Toyota customer service will not acknowledge this, and states it is something only covered under the 3 year warranty. My question for you, the NHTSA, is how would this not be considered a safety issue, when the issue comes on unexpectedly under less than ideal circumstances, especially when Toyota has acknowledged that there is a problem with their brake controller. This is a safety issue, not a warranty issue. Toyota will be held accountable for any injury or death caused by my vehicle in this situation.
Front brakes noisy, vehicle shudders when brakes applied. Dealership inspected at 21,000 miles, replaced brake pads and turned rotors at 22,000 miles. Not under warranty, paid out of pocket. Now Toyota admits brake parts were faulty, has new part numbers to repair the defect, but parts have been on backorder for 6 months or more. Toyota needs to recall the defective brakes, and make a remedy (upgraded brake parts) available to all affected owners, including those that were denied coverage under warranty, and are still driving around on original, faulty brakes.
When proceeding ahead from a stop with no one in front of me, after traveling ahead at a normal pace, the emergency braking system activated and the truck came to an abrupt stop. This occurred after traveling about 5 feet and luckily the person behind me did not rear end me. After this panic stop the truck then proceeded ahead as normal. This is the first time this has happened to me since purchased new. Currently has 3870 miles.
The breaks making loud noise I took in the livermore Toyota located at 6200 northfront rd. Livermore CA 94551 they service two times the third time I told them change the break pad and service rotor. The next day the noise started again. I took it to wheels work they told me some thing is wrong with break we cannot do anything. I took it to midas break service they said same thing I have to report to NHTSA.
There has been a known issue and recall on this vehicle since August with both personal and public life threatening events. Official notifications are just being shared from Toyota with no sight line provided for permanent fix. This causes significant cause for concern and angst in daily driving of the vehicle. If a fix isn’t available, a complete vehicle recall and exchange should be provided as resolution. These are serious life threatening circumstances that could impact myself, my family or innocent bystander. I feel unsafe and hold Toyota and national highway traffic and safety directly liable. The enforcement and the assumed liability by Toyota of delivering a safe vehicle should be upheld.
Brakes are too large, it does not respond quick, I noticed this before buy our unit during a week I rented a Tundra to try it due dealers had not vehicles to try. Once we bough ours after drive it enough I informed to the dealer but they said it were ok, but we have a couple incidents and decided to trade the vehicle loosing a lot of money in the trade to get a vehicle with good brakes, less than 2 weeks after we did the trade Toyota called us to see if we were ok due the detected in their system we had a crash, most likely the new owner had an accident.
Twice it has felt like I was being rear ended. Something is making a slamming motion on the truck when it is stopped. First time was at a stop light, second time was backing up but stopped to put the truck in "drive". I have tried looking up to see if this truck was affected in a 2022 recall but the information is unavailable.
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: (pending); manufacturer recall number: 23tb09 (service brakes, hydraulics) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Above stated recall has not been fixed, recall notice came out in August and is still an issue,Toyota dealer of daytona florida.
Open recall on this truck, dealer claims no parts available so unable to fix, I am afraid to drive this truck it should be considered a lemon for this fact alone ,bought this truck in april2023 recalled in Aug of 2023 and still not fixed,3000 miles on truck.
The car auto adaptive cruise control does not use the transmission for downhill breaking. It just rides the brakes coming down now. The car started shaking from overheating the brakes and I said realizing that it just not working in tune with the transmission. This is very dangerous. I have to turn off the cruise control and he manually downshift so break system of start working again. It was shaking so violently wouldn't stop.
Ibc errors while towing. Serious safety issue.

The integrated brake controller does not apply enough power to the trailer brakes.
