3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 02/11/2019

This car only has 65000 original one owner miles and has experienced all & more of the current recalls with same model yr, vw local dealerships (2) refuse to acknowledge the problems (one even tried to double charge me for bosch abs part last year before the recall to fix) and numerous emails to vw have gone unanswered. Most recent issues in last 1. 5yrs have been fuel pump went out and I paid to replace (dealer scammed us by throwing out dead brand new aaa stamped and warranted battery, they sd we needed new one and old one already picked up from dealer to expose of, charged $200 for that as well. I paid for the abs light repair which I have paid and diagnosed numerous times for last 10yrs to fix and finally just paid the over $1000. To get it fixed for safety reasons. 9 months ago rear brake lights would come on randomly when parked and locked killing the battery. I would drive it to charge it up but since it is a car we don't drive often or far, it continued to do the same for a few weeks until it dawned on me that the seat warmer on those cars could leave an open current, turned that off, good for a few weeks, then found out same for the trunk light, unplugged and capped that and it is far better, but something still. After reading online vw Passat forums and recalls I know 2 dealerships sd they performed the brake light sensor recall, but was it truly done and causing the issue. . . Answer is no, vw dealers 2x after checking and billing vw for the repair falsified doing the recall. I know because I checked it and the part is original from 2002 stamped on it and I replaced it and have it along with most all other receipts from 2003 to today. Feb 11, 2019 I opened a case and supposed formal investigation with vw corporate customer care (very nice people), lied like the rest of the company and never heard a word. . . +++18 vw and audis personally, since 1991. . . Done!.

6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

Failed steering wheel clock spring on a 2017 vehicle that has been driven 20,000 miles over 14 months. After being parked for approx 40 mins, pulling out of a parking spot my steering wheel make popping/clicking sounds and immediately the airbag error sensors went off along with my service vehicle warning. Upon turning out of the parking lot the steering wheel made a few additional pops/clicks. Immediately drove to the dealership where they diagnosed the steering wheel clock spring issue. The dealership did not have a part on hand and had to order it, so I drove the vehicle home. Now that I'm home and researching the failed steering wheel clock spring issue, I am questioning whether I should have been advised to not drive the vehicle, especially with my child in the back seat.

Broken seatbelt sensor causes airbag fault. I am not sure now if airbag will work. Online search indicates many people have same problem. Airbag fault should be covered by recall because seatbelts should not fail under normal use after 105000 miles.

12 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 03/21/2013

1. The lighting recall I have had my car serviced at least 4xs for light. . The light is still not fixed, every time the hood is open and closed the light goes out. 2. I was sent recall letter about airbag, I went to have it fixed and was told that the sensor got wet and its my responsibility and was charged alomost 1k to fix it. 3. My car while driving says settings are not accessible, this is constant and its not as though im trying to change the settings, while driving. Also the last time I took my car in for service I paid for my ac filter to be changed and it wasn't they said my tires were ok they were not. I have been kicked out of one dealership because the service manager was clearly a racist. I have had so many problems and when I call vw of America im put on hold, just to be told that there is nothing they can do. Now they are calling me over, and over to extend my warranty, I paid for my car in full. . I cant get one person to take my issues seriously, I can barely see the road when driving, the cars settings constantly change. Last but not least I paid for cosmetic issues and had a new battery put in all while under warranty. Because the service manager kicked me out of dealership.

18 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1998 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 06/19/2005

Caller says without warning the airbag light came on. When caller called the manufacturer they told him he had some recalls on his car. He wanted to get a diagnostic done at the same time on the air bag problem as on the recalls. Manufacturer said to do a diagnostic and they would pay for it. Manufacturer said it sounded like it was a sensor problem, and this was a safety issue. Manufacturer said they will not pay for diagnostic because it shoed it was a low battery signal. Dealer said manufacturer will not pay for it, but when caller called the manufacturer back they said they didn't have the diagnostic back to make that decision . Caller was confused by what dealer and manufacturer were saying to him. Caller did not know for sure if recall work was done because of no feedback from dealer.

20 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 08/21/2004

I,m sending this complain on behalf of my brother-in-law who will not pursue this matter. However, I'm adimant as to the nature of this complaint. He has a 2001 vw Passat. After hitting a bump at normal speeds, two of his air bags deployed. Vw said this is a normal occurrence as the sensor decided it was the thing to do. He's lucky he didn't lose control of the car. Obviously if this were a common malady in vehicles today, I dare say many accidents would occur. Vw will have nothing to do with it since he's out of warranty. Simply speaking, this ain't right!! don brown.
