The car involved was a 2006 Infiniti G35. Subject:new infinity 35 brake light
dear sir:
I followed a new model of infinity-35 on the off ramp of north bound 101 freeway at woodside exit at redwood city, CA around 8:10 pm tonight. While we were approaching the traffic light of the exit, the tail light of car in front brighten up so intense that almost blind my eye. It almost caused an accident to me since I was not able see the road for a instance. I guess the such flash was due the ignition of the brake light. The tail/brake light of the infinity-35 is not the regular tail light seen in older car, it composes of many smaller lights (may be led). In this new model, the smaller light layout as two circulate ring. I believe this is not a unique incident and may be caught other people of guard of those sharp/intense brake light. Can you please check whether this is a hazard to the general public? I did take down the license plate of the car and related information as follows for your reference:
model: infinity 35
color: black
license: 5sgh189
time of incident: 8:10 pm 3/21/2006
place of incident: woodside offramp, north 101, redwood city, CA. If possible, can you give me a response what will nhsta do about my complain. I can be contact at archiewu@hotmail. Com or 650-430-96666 thanks! archie. It was 03/23/2006 when this tail light issue happened.

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Jeep Laredo. When my headlights are on and I press the brakes, both tail lights go out and the top center light is the only light working when I am braking. When my headlights are not on and I press the brakes, tail/brake lights work normally. Another driver was kind enough to pull along side of me & let me know that none of my lights in the back were working when I put on my brakes. The next morning I got on the internet to see if there might have been a recall relating to this problem because I just purchased this vehicle in February 2005 , but it is a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee. In my search, I came across a website that had appx. 60 comments of this same problem from other individuals across the country that owned the same make & model vehicle & after reading through most of those comments, I learned that the diagnosis was that both of the tail light assemblies must be replaced because the circuits were shorted (cost $500 installed). The car involved is a 2009 Mazda cx-9. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JM3TB38V79_. Mazda corporate file number [xxx] I want to make a complaint that Mazda USA and fremont Mazda dealer declined a valid defect rear led tail lights when I exercise it through Mazda factory new car warranty. I have already contact Mazda corporate for this defect problem and worked through the local Mazda dealer (fremont Mazda) to diagnose the problem. Fremont Mazda dishonestly declined the valid defect problem and when I later trying to show the defect evidence (pictures) to Mazda USA, Mazda USA corporate chose to ignore me and concurred with the Mazda dealer's diagnosis. Each of 2009 Mazda cx-9 led tail light has 12 led pixels. Each led tail light has a few crooked led pixels are dim and aimed at the sky and ground but not to the traffic behind. A driver directly behind my cx-9 only can see about 2/3 led pixels (8 out of 12) and the other led pixels are dark. The crooked led are lit but you can only see that directly looking down from top of the car or vice versa. I believe this led tail lights defect is a valid safety concern. Led has a discrete and narrow light pattern compares to the incandescent bulbs. A good set of led tail light should have all its pixels aimed to the traffic behind, not to the sky and ground. However, Mazda (both the dealer and USA corporate) refused to take my concern seriously and refused to work with their consumers. I reasonably doubt they strategically work together to reject a valid safety concern that might potentially cause Mazda USA more trouble down the road. Possibly they think I will walk away quietly just by rejecting my request. I am more than happy to provide the pictures of the bad led pixels upon request. I am also hoping if a third party professional specialist can take a look of the bad tail lights so a sound judgement can be made. I want a set of not defected new led tail lights. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This tail light problem happened on Monday, Jul. 27, 2009.

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Mercedes Benz Slk230. The VIN of this vehicle is WDBKK47F7Y_. We own a 2000 mercedes slk 230. The light, that warns of a lamp failure somewhere on the vehicle, kept coming on. It would not stay on all the time however, and we could not find which lamp was malfunctioning. We called the dealer, mercedes-benz of wilsonville, (wilsonville oregon - 503-454-5000) and were told to bring the vehicle in when the warning lamp came on and stayed on. When it finally did, a couple of months later, we took the vehicle in to the dealer. The service was performed on August 16th 2004. The service department inspected the vehicle and told us that the tail lamp bulbs in both tail lamps were arching and had melted the tail lamp assembly. Both tail lamp assemblies had to be replaced at a cost of $360. 00. The service invoice states "28636 bulb failure mil 852 inspected bulb found evidence of arching between socket and assembly 852 r/r both tail lamp assemblys/82-2310. I spoke with the service advisor, alex garcia. He told me that they had seen this same problem on other mercedes vehicles. I asked him if a recall had been initiated because it seemed to me that this was a condition that could cause a fire in the rear of the vehicle, near the gas tank. He told me that no recall had been issued. I requested the old parts and was assured by mr. Garcia that I could have them. He told me he would leave them with the sales department so that I could pick them up that weekend. However when I called the dealership on Saturday the 21st the parts were not there. I will call the dealership on Monday and hope to have the parts returned to me. I believe that this condition is a fire hazard and should be corrected. I suspect that failures in other vehicles were covered by warranty and thus not reported. Nonetheless I believe it should be noted. This problem occurred on Monday, August 16, 2004.

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. My montero has had significant problems from day one with repeated/numerous visits to several Mitsubishi dealerships in my area. I have had all of the same complaints I have read from other owners and am very disappointed that I bought this sport utility and have spent thousands of dollars to repair. The montero has had pull to the right as described, a vibration when driving at any speeds, and a horrible performance of braking that has almost caused several accidents that could have resulted in my life and my daughters and countless other families. I have a lifetime purchase plan for alignments which are performed on a bi-weekly basis and I have also gone through 4 sets of brakes. I have also experienced my montero to just die, completely shut off in the middle of traffic- dangerous!! then after about 10 minutes and everyone honking and cursing me out it starts after I restart it. Also, with this comes a fire burning smell that I have been told by various mechanics that I have an oil leak in my engine. I have since taken the montero back and the dealership has repaired a melted gasket in the engine. I have also replaced all my belts and sparkplugs. The sunroof has had it's share of problems of leaking uncontrolallably when it rains and here in florida it has been better to stand in the rain than in my SUV. Now my front reading lights under my rear mirror is leaking buckets of water and the dealership wants to charge me over $500. 00 for a new sunroof after I paid over invoice for this luxury! all of my brake lights in the rear have blown out numerous times to have to replace. This SUV IA the million dollar money pit mistake and do not reccommend anyone to buy! I'm so glad that I am not going crazy and that others have experienced the same and hope to not ever experience my airbags not deploying in an a accident! Mitsubishi will have a huge law suit!!.
