car   Fog Light Switch problem of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. I have a concern about all the issues with this car. On March 29th my fog lights would not turn off even when ignition switch was turned off. I went on line and saw several "blogs" about this issue - I am an older women with minimal knowledge of these things so I went to a parts store that was open and the clerk pulled the #8 fuse out - for the fog lights so my battery would not run down before service/repair was open on Monday- the mechanic stated he could fix it and also that the dealership just took in a used cruiser and the fog lights did not work - they found that someone had took the fuses out for that cruiser also - is this a defective issue- appears now according to the internet the replacement part has been improved. I also had to replace the entire computer and again seems other cruiser owners have had this issue also - this is a lot of expense and with the loan on the car is difficult to now get a different car as this does seem to be a lemon - but I have to keep it till I can afford to get a different car - with all these issues - no one will want this one either. This fog light switch problem happened on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Dodge Ram 1500

The car involved was a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. 2012 laramie longhorn Ram 1500 4x4. Normal headlights do not illuminate sufficiently. Owner has nearly hit a deer three times, at appropriate highway traveling speeds. In order to drive at night, in the country where the owner lives, the owner has to use both fog lights, and headlights. Brights do not illuminate the road on their own. Headlights do not meet safe driving requirements. The failure date was February 17, 2014.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Dodge Ram 1500

I purchased a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 from a used dealer on January 21, 2012. This vehicle has by far the worst worst headlights of any vehicle I have ever driven. On the low beams with the fog lights off the light from my headlamps illuminates the road only about 30 to 40 feet in front of me. There is also a very dark area from the bumper out to about 20 feet. The high beams do not cast light much further but are wider. However with this wider light pattern the overall brightness is even worse. The only thing that makes this vehicle drive-able at night are the fog lights that at least fill in the dark area immediately in front of the vehicle that exists with the low beams. In the almost two months that I have owned my vehicle I have only used the high beams a handful of times. I have contacted Chrysler group llc. And they have advised me that this is not an issue that they plan to address even though it is a safety issue. I work third shift and do the majority of my driving in rural areas at night and during low light conditions in the mornings. I simple internet search will show that this is not an isolated issue and many owners of 4th generation rams (2009-2014) feel that the headlights on these vehicles are less than adequate. My vehicle is a 390hp 4700lb vehicle, my fear is that it is only a matter of time till these headlight cause me to have an accident be cause I simply could not clearly see what was in front of me. The failure date was Tue., Jan. 21, 2014.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Ford Fusion

The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving on interstate I-81 the dash lights started going completely off and staying off for quite sometime before coming back on. I was not really sure if I had headlights until later when stopping behind someone on my destination and was able to see my headlights in their rear car. The weather was horrible, raining very hard and visability was really only a few feet away. I turn on my fog lights just in case I had no headlights. I had hoped they work but I did not get out in the pouring rain to check. Fortunately, this incident was during the daytime and not at night. This could have lead to a fatal accident if it was at night. I feel that others should be aware of this problem and Ford should take care of it with no cost to owner. Also the spots on the charcoal dash should be dealt with by Ford because there is some reason other than sunlight or cleaner that has cause this, for I have only clean dash with a damp cloth and the car has been garage kept except for the time it spent on the dealership lot. There are many complaints on the charcoal dash on the Ford Fusion online. The dealership service deptment was very rude when I ask about this problem and seem to care less about their customers on this behalf and accuse me of using some type of harse cleaner on it. . . Would not even listen to what I had to say. Lets hope that Ford stays behind their customers with problems on the Fusion since it does have some problems. The failure date was October 20, 2011.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Ford Fusion

2007 Ford Fusion light switch ,with fog light, switch bezel clips are breaking. The whole assembly fell out due to having weak mounting clips. The normal switch that doesn't require you to pull on it to turn on the fog lights probably doesn't have this issue. I use my lights day and night including the fog lights during the day for safety. This could cause wire breaks and possibly an electrical short if a new bezel with stronger mounting clips aren't installed. This issue happened on 12/01/09.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of GMC Envoy

The car involved was a 2003 GMC Envoy. The VIN of this vehicle is 1GKDS13S43_. Riding on freeway and headlights suddenly went off in dark area. Cut on fog lamps and headlights came back on after couple miles of travel. They have not went off yet again but would be dangerous on curve road. Problem maybe in turn signal control. Cruise went out day before and came back. All located in same switch. Called GMC and told them of problem. Have not went off again yet. Talked to dealer and they want to see it with problem. The failure date was Saturday, February 19, 2011.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Acura TL

The VIN of the problem Tl is 19UUA66278_. Our 2008 Acura Tl and almost every Acura Tl I see has a problem or is developing a problem with the seals of the headlights. The vehicle is equipped with hid headlights. The problem starts with a small discoloration or fog on the inside of the headlight lens cover, and expands with time. The discoloration or fog lessens the intensity of the headlights, cutting back on visibility and illumination. The dealer said the fog in the headlight problem is local to arizona only. Really? I would like ntsb or responsible agency to determine if this is a factory defect and if a recall should be ordered to replace the headlight housing. As I mentioned, I see this problem on most Acura Tls that I see on the street. This fog light switch issue occurred Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Hyundai Santa Fe

The vehicle is a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. Have been noticing occasionally the front windshield wipers do not return to their "parked" position. They will occasionally stay too far up by 2 to 3 inches. When parked, they should be below the hood line tucked nicely to the wiper cowl. I have found on about 5 occasions since owning this car that the wipers are up as opposed to parked down correctly. The driver seat also rocked quite a bit when first purchased. Two of us drive the vehicle, neither of us are overweight at all. We got the seat track assembly under the driver's seat replaced. This helped the problem alot, but the seat still wobbles enough to be annoying. Have also noticed on other Santa Fe's that the fog lamp bulb shield (inside the lense assembly) appears melted, as it dangles down far too low and causes the fog light output to be incorrectly aimed. It was Saturday, Jul. 6, 2013 when this fog light switch issue occurred.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Infiniti I35

The vehicle is a 2002 Infiniti I35. VIN of the vehicle was JNKDA31AX2_. Government reports indicate that 85% of all accidents occur during low light situations. The new plastic lights, that come on every automobile, are economically unreasonable to replace when they get sand blasted or fogged over from exposure to the sun and other elements of nature. The lights for my 2002 vehicle are $1,000. 00 each. The lights are all sandblasted and foggy and do not emit light well. I can't afford to replace the lights when the lights cost almost as much as the car. The manufacturers should make the components economically feasible to replace or make them out of glass which will not fog over. If not that then the manufacturers should be responsible for replacing the lights free as long as the vehicle is drivable and on the road legally registered for that function. Once the lights have become fogged,or blasted, polishing them only lasts for around 30 days. Repetitive polishing will change the optics of the light and eventually you will polish clear through the plastic. These lights are a major safety issue and should be addressed by either the manufacturers or the government. This fog light switch problem happened on Mon., Jan. 13, 2014.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The vehicle was a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Jeep Grand Cherokee is 1C4RJEBG1C_. On 11/11/13, I took my car in for the state inspection and reported the issue of the car not starting / stalling out to huffines Jeep in plano, TX. Huffines diagnosed the problem as a faulty tipm. The replacement tipm was installed on 11/25/13. On 11/29/13, I noticed that every time I use my right blinker, my fog lights flash. Car still does not start/stay running after starting and it has taken up to 8 tries to get it going. Even if it sounds like the car started, it will sometimes die after running a few seconds. I've also noticed that the doors do not always lock when I press the button on the door handle. This is also related to the tipm. Additionally, on 11/29/13, the dash light came on notifying me that the key fob battery was low. I replaced the key fob battery that day but that had no impact on the greater problems of the car not starting and the fog lights flashing when the right signal is activated. Will be taking my Jeep back to huffines tomorrow morning. This issue happened on 11/01/2013.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Land Rover Freelander

The car involved is a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. I strongly urge the modification of the brake light and turn signal configuration on current Freelanders in the united states. The placement of these crucial signals is located in an unexpected and less visible location to other drivers . I have been involved in a rear-end collision (and have had many close calls) on the highway likely because the drivers behind me do not notice my brake lights illuminating. The brake lights could easily be moved to the current fog light location and the turn signals could be moved to where the reverse lights are now located - this would provide a cost effective solution to this serious safety concern. This fog light switch issue occurred Mon., May. 26, 2003.

The car was a 2000 Lincoln Ls. While driving the air bag warning light continuously illuminated on the dashboard. As a result, air bags were inoperative and wouldn't deploy when needed, per dealership. The dealership replaced every air bag component, but the problem still existed. The right front headlight held moisture and the fog light held water. The dealer replaced the headlights and fog lights. The bulb for the left side fog light burned out. The left seat was loose. The dealer replaced the clips on the back of the seat. The driver's side front door wouldn't open front he inside. The dealer replaced the handle. car   Fog Light Switch problem of Mazda MPV

I am the owner of a 2002 Mazda Mpv with approximately 36,000 miles . On the evening of February 16, 2011 while driving home with my daughter in the car the right fog light started a fire in the bumper. There was a a recall issued for this many years ago for this exact problem. At the time of the recall, I did bring my car in and supposedly the problem was corrected. However, given what has occurred last night I strongly believe that the problem was not corrected, despite what the records with Mazda say. I feel there was significant negligence in the attempt to repair this under the recall as the exact problem the recall was said to fix has actually occurred. I have contacted frank at Mazda 800-222-5500 extension 1154 and he is refusing to help me with this matter. I have also contacted a local dealership, and they also refuse to help me with this matter. This is a huge safety issue that was not corrected properly and has caused damage to my car and there is still potential for additional harm as the other fog light may still be at risk. I am reaching out to you for help in correcting this matter by having Mazda take full responsibility. I have done research on line and found another such occurrence that happened to driver on 9/16/2010. This fog light switch problem happened on Feb. 16, 2011.

2004 Mercury Marauder headlights occasionally stop functioning without warning. Running lights and fog lights continue working, no low/high beam headlights at all. Switch seems to be the issue, fuses are fine and no bulbs out. Recently had dealership replace driver side headlight, only change to vehicle before issue started. car   Fog Light Switch problem of Nissan Murano

The car was a 2003 Nissan Murano. My vehicle is equipped with a stalk on the left side of the steering column that controls the headlights, fog lights,low-high beam function and turn signals. The headlight/parking light/automatic on-off control is accomplished by rotating the end of the stalk. The foglights are controlled by rotating another ring further down the stalk. High-low beam is controlled by pushing the stalk forward or back, the turn signals are operated by moving the stalk up or down. It is nearly impossible to rotate the foglight ring without also inadvertently rotating the headlight switch, thus turning the headlights off. Also when using the turn signals, particularly for a left turn or lane change, it is too easy to also cause the headlight control ring to rotate, again turning the headlights off. This occurred last night on I-80 in heavy traffic but has also happened on several earlier occassions and needless to say is very disconcerting, very scary and of course very dangerous. I feel that the NHTSA should look into the function of this control to see if a recall or retrofit is warranted. This problem occurred on Feb. 27, 2002.

This vehicles rear fog light lenses and brake light lenses are right up against each other with no space given between them. I have asked the manufacturer owner ,which was general motors at the time to remedy issue. They have declined any assistance. I have explained this is a safety issues which was written into California law for a purpose. The problem is when using them when warranted atmospheric conditions require and do to their placement it can be construed as if the vehicle is braking as coming to a stop or stopped. I vehicle behind it could panic brake or hard steer to right or left causing an accident . I have also written to the original sales dealer for assistance. car   Fog Light Switch problem of Subaru Outback

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Subaru Outback. I have had this car since it was new from the dealer and unlike any other vehicle that I've ever owned this one has to have the headlights replaced every 3 to 6 months. The fog lights, and clearance lights have had to be replaced several times during my ownership of the car, but nothing like the headlights. I have spent hundreds of dollars buying the best lights you can get by sylvania at $70. 00 plus for a set and I have gone through about 5 sets of these lights. Lucky for me that after having paid to have them replaced by a mechanic the first few times I was able to then do it myself. This is a problem with this make of car. I'm 60 years old and have owned many cars in my life and I have never seen anything like this problem. . I'm sorry that I have not kept records of the outages. Thank you. . The vehicle is a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Suzuki Grand Vitara is JS3TD94786_. I lost both my headlights at the same time. The fog lights automatically came on, but by the next morning I had neither. Fog lights finally returned. Every time I hit a bump in the road the interior lights come on and off. I have to make sure when I exit my car the interior light goes off as I have had to turn it off manually as not to run my battery down. I received a recall notice regarding air bag and electrical but I feel there is more going on in the electrical . It cost me over a $100 last time for the headlights. car   Fog Light Switch problem of Toyota Prius

The car involved is a 2004 Toyota Prius. Problem started with the right headlight turning off intermittently. I reported the problem to the local dealership on 8/27/2013 when the vehicle was serviced. The dealership indicated that they could not find a problem because the problem could not be duplicated. Then the same thing started happening with the left headlight. I can correct the problem by turning off & then back on the light switch but this correction does not last long and the problem recurs. I have resorted to driving with my fog lights also turned on in order to provide some semblance of light. It is difficult and dangerous to drive like this in the long alaskan winters with so much ice and snow on the roadways. I can also make this problem occur when warming up my car in the driveway. This fog light switch issue occurred Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle was a 2008 Toyota Prius. Most recently I was driving at night and the left headlight was not working at all. The next day I took the car to my local mechanic and both lights were working fine so they were unable to do anything. Two days later I was driving home late and again the lights worked fine. This has been a constant problem. Sometimes the lights (one or both) work and sometimes they don't. Two months ago I was driving on a dark winding rode with only the fog lights working, both of the headlights were out. You never know when it's going to happen and it's extremely dangerous. Is it a problem with the hid lights or a circuit issue? my Toyota dealer was unaware of the problem despite what appears to be several complaints having been logged. My car only has 66k miles and I don't drive at night very often. This fog light switch problem happened on 11/01/2013.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Volkswagen Tiguan

The vehicle involved is a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan. A few days ago I got a warning on my car saying the front right turn signal needed to be checked. It wasn't an emergency situation since the rear and side mirror turn signals still functioned. I had also heard about the recall online, so I thought maybe it was just telling me I was part of the recall and would need to take it in soon. Last night, driving in the dark, I lost a headlight, fog light, and the 3rd brake light. It was decided to make the 4 hour trip to the nearest vw dealer this weekend to have it looked at. This morning on my way to work, I lost virtually all of the remaining exterior lighting. Luckily it was a bright morning, and work is not far. Because of the loss of two brake lights, and assuming I would lose the other one, I had vw tow my car today to the dealer to be repaired. This is my list of lights lost as of 12. 6. 13 8:00 fr dipped beam, fr turn signal, fr main beam, fr fog light, FL side light, rl turn signal, rl brake light, rr side light, 3rd brake light, r reverse light, and license plate light. Fortunately I am still under warranty, so it will be repaired at no cost to me regardless of an official recall. This fog light switch issue occurred Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Audi A4

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Audi A4. I was driving on I-45 s to houston and at 9 pm, I tried turning my front fog light on as it was getting foggy occasionally. I was at 75 mph speed on right lane, all of a sudden all lights went out, I immediately pulled over to the median and after playing around some kind of light came back, drove to nearest exit to gas station about a mile further and checked all lights, it was working fine now. I have read similar kind of complaint here and not sure if it is getting attention. Does death has to occur before nhsta and Audi listen to this problem. 75 mph in interstate at night without lights on, can you imagine my situation. It can easily cause death and damage. Fix this problem because it is not bulb issue, it is manufacturer defect. This problem occurred on 11/26/13.

car   Fog Light Switch problem of Cadillac CTS

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Cadillac Cts. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G6DM57N43_. Just got off the xway, stopped at red light. While waiting at the light, which was stuck red for about 5 min, both (hid) head lights failed at the same time. They flashed on & off 3 times, than stayed out. I switched on the fog lights so I could drive the last 3 miles home. The dealer had to replace both lights at a cost of over $2,000. The dealer had no idea what caused both to fail at the same time. I wrote a letter to Cadillac customer service. They called me and said they would not forward the info to a technical dept to determine the cause. I estimate there are 10,000 miles on these lights. I wrote a second to Cadillac, again they called me and said they were closing the file on this case. To me this is a safety issue as it could happen again at 70 mph on a curve. These (hid) lights are a pricey option and are sold that under normal use they should last the life of the car. This fog light switch issue occurred 11/05/2011.
