car   Back Up Lights problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The car is a 2008 Mazda Mazda3. I was informed by my friend driving in back of me that my brake lights seemed to be melting away, I looked at the light and realized it was the light bulb melting the cover for the brake. I asked Mazda what was the reason but they didn't look into it and just advised me the amount I would need to have this fixed but because they advised me that I have to pay for this damage that looks like a manufacturer damage, I just left it alone until the light bulb went out and I have to be very careful to replace it not to get hurt from it. As 1 month passed, I realized that the cover was melting away and it looked just like a backup light and also realized that my right side was doing the same. I thought it this red cover wears away, this can be dangerous for the drivers in back of me that would only pay attention to the red lights when I hit the brake. This may be a hazard on the road and lead to accidents if drivers were not paying close attention that my brake light was no longer red. I then started doing research and noticed on the Mazda forum that many others had the same situation as me, hopefully you can look into it. This issue happened on 02/08/13.

car   Back Up Lights problem of Mercury Sable

The car involved is a 2002 Mercury Sable. The VIN of this vehicle was 1MEFM58U02_. Wire harness failure in rubber boots from body of car to rear lift gate on station wagon model. Insulation cracking and wire breaking completely in flexible rubber boot causes erratic behavior and ultimate failure of high brake light, back up lights, license plate lights, rear windshield wiper, rear window defroster, open lift gate and open rear window safety sensors and stereo speakers. Insulation and wiring within boot has become brittle and fatigued. Clean breaks in wires from opening and closing lift gate are evident. Wires where insulation has broken through are coming in contact with other circuits where that insulation has broken through and results in "confusing" operation of lights. Ie put car in reverse and high brake light comes on - put foot on brake and high brake light goes out. Backup lights don't come on at all. Ie turn on rear windshield wiper and license plate light comes on. Wiring does not appear to have sufficient number of multiple internal copper strands or supple enough insulation to provide needed flexibility during regular opening and closing of rear lift gate. Believe this to be a latent safety defect. Manufacturer should have known during design that wiring in boot to station wagon lift gate would be prone to catastrophic failure with regular use. This problem occurred on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

car   Back Up Lights problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is JTDKN3DU5A_. I have had repeated issues with the low beam headlights since purchasing my 2010 Toyota Prius. The low beam headlight bulbs burn out and have to be replaced every 2-6 months. Replacement bulbs have included bulbs purchased from Toyota and auto parts stores varying in price level and lumens. I have had two instances where both headlights simultaneously malfunctioned would not illuminate. The first was when I had my car turned off for several hours and when I started the car the lights would not illuminate. I turned the car off and checked the headlight bulb connections. I had to drive home approximately 5 miles using the high beams. I took my car to oxmoor Toyota, the dealership where I purchased the car new, and the service department determined that my car was functioning normally. They replaced both low beam headlight bulbs with Toyota bulbs. The second time that both low beam headlights failed the car was parked but running with the low beam headlights illuminated. The headlights were switched off but the car remained running. When I switched the lights on, the low beam headlights would not illuminate. I turned car off and checked the low beam headlight bulb connections. The high beam lights, turn signals, backup lights, and brake lights functioned normally. I drove home approximately 20 miles with the high beams. Once home, I verified that the fuse was not burned out. Two months later the front driver's side low beam headlight would not illuminate. I decided it was time to return to the dealership where I brought my car to see if Toyota had found a solution to this issue. The service manager said that they only issue was the burned out low beam headlight bulb. This back up lights problem happened on Friday, October 15, 2010.

car   Back Up Lights problem of Volkswagen Tiguan

The vehicle was a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan. Hello - I started my 2009 vw Tiguan on Nov. 9, 2013. After placing the car in drive, all of my dashboard lights for "lighting failures" came on, a total of 8 different error messages - license plate lights, driver and passenger taillights, backup lights, front headlights, turn signals. At this point I was on the road, and quickly pulled over to the closest parking lot I could find. I was about to head on the highway. I immediately turned around and drove home and did some research. I opened the interior fuse panel, but that was ok. I went in under the hood and saw the 30 amp fuse was completely melted. (I took a picture, and have it for reference. ) this could have been a very dangerous scenario, and there were no warning signs. I can't help but wonder how that fuse has impact the lighting system overall in my Tiguan. This back up lights issue occurred 11/09/13.

car   Back Up Lights problem of Volkswagen Tiguan

The car is a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan. The VIN of the car is WVGAV7AX0B_. A fuse has melted (not burned out in the typical manner), and melted part of the fuse block. This caused all of the lights on the vehicle to malfunction. Headlights on one side, one turn signal, bulbs in different parts of the taillight assemblies (both sides), one backup light and the third brake light. All appeared to be burned out. Upon replacement of the fuse, all worked properly. From researching the internet, we found numerous websites and forums where this has been happening on these vehicles from 2009-2013, usually around 40-50,000 miles. The loss of these lights can cause an accident or fire to the vehicle due to the electrical system getting so hot as to melt the way it did. It has been stated that vw of America has refused to correct these problems. This back up lights issue occurred Friday, July 19, 2013.

car   Back Up Lights problem of BMW 528

The car involved is a 1997 BMW 528. The third/middle rear brake light housing has melted due to excessive heat build up when using brakes for extended time periods (e. G. , when stuck in very slow moving traffic). This has caused the red lense to melt over the bulb, thereby posing a risk of fire and preventing the car from being inspected. I am concerned about using the car in this condition due to the risk of fire (I have smelled the burning plastic). The housing and lighting assembly are all original equipment. The dealer has indicated that it will not fix the safety hazard even though it is under warranty and all original equipment (and it will cost $550 for me to repair it). This defect also permits white light to shine from the brake light assembly, thereby posing an additional safety issue. This back up lights issue occurred 09/01/00.
