Without lower fog lamps on with high beams, there is no illumination of the road sides or lower pavement from 5-30/50 feet out in front of vehicle. This is serious issue when driving on rual hiways or county roads at night or on open interstates. Unable to see any wildlife or pedestrians on side or in front of vehicle when driving at night. The car was a 2004 Acura Tsx. The console lights (lights in the center) went out in 2009, which is a safety concern as you need to attempt to read the controls via the overhead light while driving, causing a huge distraction. We took it to the dealer and they wanted $150 just to diagnosis it. Recently we learned that Acura extended warranty some years back to fix it however we were never notified (we are the original owners). Now we have passed the extended warranty time (7 years). We feel it's a safety concern and should have been notified about the issue by Acura and that as such Acura should still be liable to fix the problem. Thank you. This exterior lighting issue occurred Feb. 18, 2009.

The vehicle involved was a 2014 Honda Cr-v. The exterior low beam head lights work normally as expected when switch is in low beam position. The problem is when the high beam lights are selected. The visibility provided by the low beam lights disappears when the high beams are selected. The visibility on the high beam setting is great 300 feet forward of the car but minimal to none 50 feet in front of the car. This is very dangerous when driving on turnpikes with a posted speed limit of 75 mph. The visibility on high beam selection is so poor it forced me to use only low beams to see the road and objects immediately in front of my vehicle. This eliminated the possibility of seeing animals or other dangers down the road that are normally visible on the high beam setting. It seems like the low beams are turned off when the high beams are selected if so this is a major design flaw that affects safe operation of the vehicle. Any other vehicle I've ever owned the high beam lights add more light to the light already being provided by low the beams. This vehicle takes light away on the high beam setting. I hope NHTSA addresses this problem very soon with Honda motor corp. This problem occurred on 05/22/14.

The car involved is a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. There was crash involved with this Hyundai Sonata. I had come to a complete stop attempting to merge into traffic, as I pressed on accelerator, I felt it go down under my foot, thus hiting the right rear bumper of the car in front of me. This was the first time. The second time happened in January. 2012. I was turning into my parking spot, and I had softly braked. And as I pressed on the acceleator, and like the first time, I felt the accelerator go down beneath my foot, without pressing too hard. I ran into my apartment, and caused a good deal of damage to it. As well as my car. I have not had an incident since, but I remain scared that it will happen again. I took vehicle to oxmoor Hyundai, in louisville, and could not find find anything wrong, and I had to pay just under $100. 00 to tell me this. And my auto insurance went up drastically. This exterior lighting problem happened on Fri., Sep. 16, 2011.

The car as been at the dealer various times and at times they said I have a bad sensor and by the time they lok at the vehicle they said that is nothing wrong. The symptons go away after driving for a couple days, bit I feel that I will get into a acident if the lights dont come back on. The failure date was 03/31/2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Infiniti G35. I'm the second owner this particular vehicle, and although I did not notice the problem sooner, the 3rd light on my 2004 G35 does not work (my car does not have the spoiler). What I did was purchase a used 3rd light from a salvage yard. . . . And it did work (briefly), now it's not working. . . . . So I'm back to square one. I thought that it was unusual, so I googled the issue and much to surprise came up with many hits of owners of this vehicle with the same issue. . . . . . . Since reading the issue others have experienced with the 3rd light not functioning I have noticed this particular vehicles 3rd light issue on other G35 on the road, more than likely the owners have not noticed the light not operating. . . . . . . . . The whole purpose of the 3rd light is to be seen by others driving behind you. . . . . . . It's an accident waiting to happen, I hope the NHTSA and Infiniti takes steps to correct this problem. It was Aug. 31, 2013 when this exterior lighting issue occurred.

The car was a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When driving there are multiple times the internal and external lights will falsh or go off entirely for time. The vehicle was a 2007 Kia Motor Spectra. The VIN of the car is KNAFE12287_. My car was parked, in my driveway, and had ran fine the day before. I went out and started the car but could not get the car out of park and into reverse. I was unable to even roll the car a little by pushing it, which indicates the car was stuck in park with force. I had my neighbor come over and he managed to, with a ton of pressure, put the car in reverse. Seems to not be as hard on a flat surface but my driveway has a slant to it. Put car back in driveway and tried to leave a couple hours later and same issue. I had to purchase aaa and have somebody come out to pull out of park. Looked on line and there's a ton of recalls big mine the 2007 kia Spectra. Which is the only year not being recalled. I was told, by kia dealership it was safe to drive but pet my research, no it's not. They want to change for repair yet every other kia make is recalled. This issue happened on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.

The car is a 2014 Kia Motor Soul. I had an emergency and tried at night to unlock electric doors for my passengers and I. Upon attempting to manage the emergency and unlock the door for my passengers to exit the vehicle, I was greatly delayed because the "unlock light is non functioning" and can't be seen in the dark. This is a safety problem & I believe it warrants a recall because the dealer refuses to acknowledge it as a problem that needs correcting. The vehicle was a 2004 Land Rover Freelander. The VIN of this Freelander is SALNE222X4_. Rear tail lamp housings failed numerous times causing the bulbs not to work. This created a situation where only one or none of the lamps were working. I replaced them and later found out that a recall or investigation was issued but I was never notified. Interior dome light has failed twice. Headlamp failure has occurred in low beam six times and in high beams three times. The vehicle has stalled on numerous occasions when the heated seats, heated windshield and headlamps were on simultaneously. This exterior lighting problem happened on July 5, 2011.

The car involved was a 1993 Lexus Ls400. While traveling on the interstate at night-time, the lighting on the instrument panel went completely dark and it became impossible to read any of the cars instrumentation such as vehicle speed and warning indicators. At various times since then the gauges in the instrument panel have also become unreliable, these include the fuel level guage, the speedometer, and the tachometer. At times they will not move from their "0" setting, such as when the vehicle is powered off, until they warm-up up or you bang the dash with your hand and at other times they will not work at all. The lighting problem still occurs on the instruments also. The dealer said all they could do was replace the instrument panel and components in the dash at a cost of over $2000 plus labor, so often I just have to guess how fast I am driving or how much fuel is in the car as the repair would be almost as much as I paid for the car (the instruments were working when I purshased the car). It is usually the right side but also happens on the left side. You can fix the problem by turning the on off switch. However it will continue to shut off randomly. The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 Mazda Mazda3. The adapter in the headlamp is faulty. The car requires the h7 low beam bulb, but there is a plastic adapter in the housing unit that melts periodically. I have to keep buying replacements about once a year and have to change the bulb about 4 times a year. I always smell burning plastic when this happens and worry that a fire could start (the adapter has burn/melted spots on it when removed). It also corrodes extremely fast causing the bulbs to burn out extremely quickly. I've owned the car since 2008 and it's been doing it since about 2010. It was Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 when this exterior lighting issue happened.

Water intrusion and condensation build-up inside the headlamp assembly causing major damage and required whole unit replacement. Usually happen after a rainstorm or car wash. This had occurred to both headlamps on my vehicle. The first incident happened in April 2012 to the passenger-side headlamp assembly after I washed the vehicle. The car is a 2003 Mercedes Benz C240. I was always getting an error message telling me my rear lights were not working. I experienced an electrical fire in my trunk, which caused the air bags to deploy and the entire left side of my car caught fire. The car was totaled. Car would not start, trunk would not open. Car was totaled by dealer and insurance company. I know there is a recall notice for new c class cars, but because of what I experienced, I believe older models may also have the same problem. The vehicle involved is a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. We were driving and all of the sudden the head lights went out randomly. We tried to turn the switch the other way and back and forth but that did not work. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 4A3AC44G85_. In the morning, I drove this Mitsubishi Eclipse 2005 to work(35 miles away from home), it was ok. After work, I drove back to my house, entered our garage, I got off the car, I saw a small fire on the right front lighting place, then I quickly backed my car out of the garage, the fire was getting bigger and bigger, my wife and I use a lot of water to put the fire out. . . This fire burned out the front light, bulb, some wire, and small piece of right front bumper. . . Then I tried this car again, I could drive it, but it has no turning signal. I drove this car to 2 different car shops, one is a local car shop, they worked on my car for 1 month, but they could not fix it. Then I drove this car to a Mitsubishi dealer, they worked on my car for 2 months, they could not figure out the exact problem. . . The vehicle was a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JA4AT2AW1A_. Hi,
when you have the a/c on max and your head lights on the lights dim every time the a/c compressor kick on and stays dim until the compressor kicks off. I took it to the dealer they said the battery was bad and replaced it. The problem was still there they had me bring it back in and they kept it for seven hour and called me to come pick it up they found nothing wrong. They said there was no dimming and the alternator is putting out fine with everything turned on. I still have the problem and when going down the road depending on how much the compressor is kick it looks like you are flashing your lights at the car ahead of you. If you go on Mitsubishi forum web site this has been a problem from 2003 to 2011 and people are being lied to by the dealers. I have been told by other machines that the alternators are to small and being stressed and will fail. I have a lot of traveling to do starting next month to other states I need this fixed. The vehicle is a 2011 Subaru Outback. Since may of 2012, my wife has had to replace the low beam light bulbs on both the driver and passenger side no fewer than six times. This is a terrible issue with the vehicle, as driving with one bulb is both dangerous and illegal. It is also prohibitively expensive to continue replacing these bulbs as the access to them is convoluted at best. Subaru needs to acknowledge that this is a recurrent problem with the vehicle, and that it puts its customers at risk. A recall must be issued before there is a fatality, not afterwards. I wear latex gloves and am critically careful to never touch the bulbs, but the essence of the problem is that the car clearly has a poorly regulated power supply that stresses the bulbs at start-up. My previous 2006 Prius ate hid bulbs, so I intentionally purchased a 2011 model variant that used conventional halogen bulbs to escape the constant bulb failure issues with Prius. To no avail. Constantly burning out headlamps is a continuing Toyota safety hazard that NHTSA needs to finally address. The failure date was 05/19/2014.

The car involved was a 2009 Toyota Venza. Driver's side sun visor has failed. While driving on the freeway it suddenly dropped in front of my face causing my vision of the road to be obstructed. The visor is defective in that it would not stay up and away from my face while driving. It seems like the whole bracketing system which holds the visor in place broke and when the visor fell in front of my face, it actually fell lower than if I had put the visor down myself to block the sun. The light which activates the mirror in the sun visor has also stopped working. More importantly, this is a definite safety hazard as it almost caused me to rear-end the vehicle in front of me when the visor dropped and blocked my vision of the road. This problem occurred on May. 4, 2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Volvo Xc90. On two separate occasions, our vehicle would not restart after stopping for gas. This occurred after it was serviced and battery replaced a week prior. Aaa was unable to jump start it as well, and vehicle had to be towed back to dealership for repairs. According to the two separate dealerships, the central electronics module is the culprit, and needed replacing. Across multiple online forums, Volvo owners have complained about similar problems with the cem, often placing drivers and occupants in danger as they experienced complete electrical outage at highway speeds. We were fortunately that our vehicle just did not restart, instead of shutting down in traffic at 65 mph. This is a significant safety issue, and Volvo should be responsible for replacing the faulty units. It was Apr. 18, 2014 when this exterior lighting issue occurred.

I purchased this 2005 Audi A4 in August of 2007 and within the first few months of having the vehicle I was already having problems with it having to take it in and get repaired/serviced. Not only was I dissatisfied that I bought a horrible car, because it was having recurring problems, but I find out after purchasing the vehicle the dealership sold me a quattro, but my Audi is not a quattro, so I was mislead into buying a faulty vehicle. . My paperwork documentation says 2005 Audi A4 quattro 1. 8t so I had to pay to get towed out of the snow because the Audi is only 2 wheel drive. . I will never ever purchase a vw/Audi vehicle again and I always tell people don't get a vw/Audi because they are horrible unreliable cars. I have put so much money into this junk Audi that just constantly has problems, I could have bought a new car again by now . I'm very disappointed with vw/Audi. I have wasted so much money on diagnostic repair checks, because the [xxx] check engine light repeatedly keeps coming on the dashboard. I can't get my car smog approved without the check engine light being off, so I am relentlessly dumping money I simply don't have into this pos Audi. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). The failure date was Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007.

The car was a 2005 Cadillac Sts. The VIN of this vehicle was 1G6DC67A45_. I have had ongoing problem with this since I bought the car used last August 2012. The passenger side headlamp cover gets a lot of moisture inside. I was going to fix myself so I went to "Cadillac forums" and searched problem. Amazed to find all models of Cadillac and always on passenger side is the moisture problem. Started in 03 model year and last questioned on 08 model year (after that warranty problem so dealer would handle. This is to much to be a coincidence and a recall should be issued. Thank you in advance. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This problem occurred on 08/02/13.
