When driving my power steering shuts off and the light pops on however when I turn car off and back on it works again for a few minutes. I was driving on a city street and turned and it shut off and I almost hit a pole because of this thank god my 3 year old was not with me this time.

I have a 2007 chevy Hhr lt sedan. The car has been driving fine up until about a month ago, maybe a bit longer. While driving at approx. 15 mph, the power steering light came on and it took everything I had to turn the wheel. I shut the car off, restarted it and it drove fine for a day or so. Now, it is becoming worse! I ran a short errand yesterday and I had to pull over and restart the car no less than 8 times. I called the local chevy dealership here and was told it wasn't on the recall list. I was told they would charge me $130 and hour just for diagnostic work. I came very close to having an accident one evening when the power steering went out and I had no place to pull over and had to turn into the oncoming lane of traffic. This isn't just a cosmetic or trivial problem! someone could get killed or badly injured. Chevy/GMC needs to own up to this problem and fix it before something bad happens.

While driving on the major roadway in 5:00 traffic after work and while stopped to go forward in the car wash the power steering light gave a warning then dis engaged and steering was almost impossible. I read the owners manual and it said to turn the car back on and turn the wheel a couple times then the steering was ok to get me home I am afraid to drive it now ,in checking the website this is a known issue. Can you help me please?!.

Power steering warning light comes on while driving and difficult to steer. Resets when ignition turned off and back on, however repeatedly happens every few blocks while driving. This is dangerous and there is a recall for later 2009-2010. . . Why not for all years?.

Started driving down the road power steering light and bells came on and lost steering. Almost crashed into the ditch . Luckily nobody was coming towards us or behind us . Do not dare to drive my car now I have a young child.

Whial driving the power steering assistance turns off/fails and the power steering light showes on dash. When you stop and cut the car off and back on it works again for a wial then fails again.

I was driving down my street south harmony road in bloomington my power steering light came on I lost control I was forced to the right into a ditch over a driveway back into the ditch and I wound up sideways in my street slammed into a tree. I was driving my 2011 Hhr as I understand it all the Hhr's of 2010 have been recalled for their power steering I did go to dealers I was turned away as to leave I called um over and over again I was blown off I was not being taken seriously and as a result I am now without a car we are on disability unable to afford another car and their idea of helping me is a $2,000 voucher towards a new car that's not acceptable I have a letter that states it was their fault not mine that it was a result of the power steering and I want my car replaced and they're refusing to do so so as a result now my family has no way to get around to gm's fault I believe they should replace my car or at least give me about your worth at least $10,000 to be able to replace my vehicle but so far after the voucher nobody's returning my calls there's some missing cdr data or cd RX I'm not exactly sure I'm confused into the whole thing they're not telling me the whole story I believe they're hiding information for me nobody is returning my calls I've had to call wrtv 6 news out of indianapolis indiana they are doing a story it will be airing in July and I'm tired of getting the runaround from gm and now I'm not getting the runaround because nobody's returning my calls their knowing me and I think that it should be investigated and that other people driving this particular vehicle should be aware that there might be severe accidents with this vehicle I want them to replace my vehicle.

My 2011 Hhr has started acting up by throwing out the reduced engine power light, esc light and service traction light. This will happen when in park(when warning up the vehicle) and when im driving. It seems to happen more in cold weather. When it happens it reduces the speed down to 25mph and lurches forward and sounds horrible! I have had this happen when driving down a highway and the interstate (luckily I was in the right lane and able to get the shoulder safely. There is no warning when it is about to happen. It also will do it while stopped waiting for a stop light to change. It will throw on the check engine light and we have checked the codes and changed what it said needed change but that did not work. From what I have looked up it looks like people are having all sorts of issues with this but no one has found a solution. There needs to be a solution because spending hundreds of dollars for it not to fix it is not right.

Takata recall - when in motion, on a city street or a highway, driving straight, going into a turn or just turning at any time my power steering light comes on and the power steering goes out. When I was driving the car the power steeling light can on and then it got harder to turn the wheel. Inknown what happen. Then I would park the car and cut it off and then start driving more and then it would do it again.

While exiting onto the freeway at 45 mph the power steering light went on and the steering didn't work.
