1 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2019

Steering wheel was extremely hard to turn. Driver info panel displayed power steering. I turned car off and back on and it was normal again. But the steering wheel while driving down the road and stopped twitches back and forth. The power steering has went out several times over the last few days. The twitching is constants as long as car is started or key turned to supply power. There are thousands of reports - why is this not a safety hazard? first the dealer said that they would fix it at no charge - then they said that it would be $750 to fix it.

2 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

Out of nowhere started my car to go to work and my steering wheel was extremely hard to turn. Driver info panel displayed power steering. I turned car off and back on and it was normal again. But the steering wheel while driving down the road and stopped twitches back and forth. The power steering has went out several times over the last few days. The twitching is constants as long as car is started or key turned to supply power. I done a recall search via VIN and it returned no recalls. This should be recalled as I have read thousands of people with the same issues reported. It's a safety hazard to anyone driving and those around when it fails.

3 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2017

My steering wheel is hard to turn at startup, like it is manual or metal on metal feel like there is no lubrication. It is surely not safe to even back out of the driveway let alone drive it. I looked to see if there was no steering fluid but learned there is no such thing on this make/model but that it uses electrical steering assist instead. I have seen many complaints on the web regarding steering assist on this model and I know my local dealer told me there was a recall and had worked on the steering and replaced something there at some point because of the recall yet my VIN search show nothing on this site. It doesn't even show past recall work!.

6 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2011

2005 Malibu maxx began pulling to the right, then a couple months later the power steering notification starting beeping on the dash display, the steering is tight, sometimes hard to turn. Found out the power steering is electronic and there is no fluid to add. The car has less than 75,000 miles on it. I am fearful for my safety and others with this issue appearing to get worse, and without warning, its fine for 10 miles then starts beeping at you, etc.

7 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2010

The power steering locked up while I was making a right turn. The power steering notification went on the dash and the chime came on. The power steering is really hard to turn, and I mean hard. The car is only 5 years old as well. Its a 2005 chevy Malibu.

8 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

I have a 2005 Malibu with 50000 miles on it and the power steering randomly shuts off. The car is equipped with electronic power steering and sometimes the steering is real tight and sometimes its really loose. It becomes very dangerous when this happens and the chevy dealership I brought it to doesn't know what is wrong. I know what is wrong - my steering doesn't work 100% of the time. I have a safe driving record and drive resposibly and do not beat on my cars. I know it is not my driving stlye, rather it is a flaw in design and construction of the power steering.
