It started with the truck losing power when making slow speed turns into driveway/parking spot which includes loss of power steering which has caused me to almost crash several times. The power used to come back up but now it is resulting in the truck just turning itself off mid turn and not just on slow turns. It happened when I was making a turn onto a street and I was forced to muscle the truck off the side of the road- no power at all so no power steering-going about 10-15 mph. When driving with cruise control on if you use the turn signal it kicks off the cruise control. The ac will just stop and the truck will just shut off. The whole time all/any of this is happening my dash is telling me stability control is off, steering assist of off drive with care. . . . If the dash has any power that is. The trailer brake system flashes like I am using the brakes when I am sitting in the truck door open, key out. I have unplugged that thinking it was the problem but it didn't change anything. At times it is completely random that all power almost bottoms out and comes back moments later. There is definitely something wrong and as see I am not the only one having these same issues. . . Should investigate and offer recall and get these trucks fixed before someone does crash. My truck only has 53,300 miles on it and it has a new battery and we have checked the alternator. The date below would be when I almost crashed turning the corner and truck died.

Our 2015 Silverado 1500 has stuttering/ hesitation when accelerating, when turning on to a street you can not get up to speed quick enough it acts like there is something hold it back. We have replaced the spark plug and wire and all the coil packs. The voltage meter on the truck keep fluctuating so we replaced the alternator and the battery and that did nothing and kept fluctuating so we got another alternator and another and another and another. . So 5 alternators later and still no fix. But the hard shifting is the main concern. Because when you are driving trying to get into another lane the truck with just start hesitating and jerking until it launches into gear. 1st gear going into 2nd gear the truck will shift extremely hard and 2nd going into 3rd feels like you are galloping until it finally engages. The computer has been replaced and reprogrammed with all updates by and ase certified mechanic. Also did a transmission fluid flush and changed. No service light. Just baffled with all these complaints about transmission why nothing is down. It is a serious safety issue.

I have had an ongoing problem with the electrical system in my truck. First time it happened I was leaving my house and as soon as I got a few houses down the road my door locks started unlocking and locking themselves over and over and the speedometer gauge was all over the place along with the rpm gauge and the road up would turn off and on and the brakes would lock up and then release and it did this until I was able to pull over and turn the truck off. Once the truck was off it wouldn't start again. I had taken the battery out to be tested and it was fine. The alternator was fine and as far as I could see the negative and positive cables from the battery were clean too. I've traced the ground and it doesn't appear to be in bad shape either. Well after I was able to get it back to my house it sat for a few days and after a couple days it randomly started back up. Took it to the local chevy dealership and they said there is no problem everything is good and they couldn't recreate the problem. They said it could be the aftermarket head unit. Well once I got my truck back the head unit no longer works or gets power? well now a month later same problem and the truck is totally dead but battery and etc is fine.

I was entering I-75 interstate ramp and moving along with traffic and about 70 mph, the door locks started going up and down on there own, the instrument cluster needles started sporadically going up and down then they show no signs of anything, the airbag light came on along with the chime sound, the stability control light came on, the truck lost a little bit of power when trying to accelerate, I did smell a burnt wire odor. I have replaced the battery and alternator and still the problem exists. This has happen twice before this incident. The stability control light came on and the truck ran really rough. I took it to my local Chevrolet dealer ship and they told me that the number 8 cylinder had oil leaking into it which I see no signs of blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe and have been driving it for 5 months now with no problems except what is going on now with the electrical system. I have been researching the electrical problems with this year truck and it seems to be a wide spread manufacture problem. I have also seen pictures of the same year truck with the same problems that are described above and this ladies truck burned from the dashboard all the way to the front seats. A total loss. General motors needs to address this problem immediately before someone dies. Recall recall recall!!!.

I have a2008 silverado like new the electrical system is giving me a hard time I replace the alternator, battery, headlight and still have thisissue headlight dimming at night time, cruise control not working properly ! I wish gm can help me.
When driving the truck the lights would dim and then have a loss of power. Didn't think much of it until one day getting out of the vehicle and shutting it off I went to put the key back in the ignition and there was no power what so ever no dome lights nothing. . . No clicks no dash lights nothing. Then had someone jump me power and truck started right away. Same day had my battery checked and alternator and everything came out fine nothing was wrong with it. Happened again about a week later but this time truck hesitated when key was turned then it did not start reset the clock in the truck and then had lights dimming everytime blinkers were turned on. Got home and had a feeling truck would not start if I took the key out sure enough everything was dead when I tried turning it back on. Had to jump it again. When that happened I got the battery replaced thinking it was faulty. Two weeks went by and it was fine then after punching on the gas a little to pass a semi the locks went up and down really fast and had lights dim again no message on the dash or anything. I got home and truck did not start again. Jumped it again then a week later going to work on the freeway the truck had extremely bad tremors and then the locks started locking and unlocking again the lights and stereo were going on and off and abs light came on and vehicle kept going into neutral and drive every other few seconds witch caused a concern for my safety. Good thing I was only a few miles away from home. I turned around went home and sure enough turned it off put the key back in and no power . Explained failure to a dealership and said possibility was the ecm. And they could do nothing unless it was duplicated.

I have a 2003 silverado that has been having rough idling issues. The truck doesn't idle rough everyday, but when it does the voltage fluxuates between 10-14 volts. Before this started happening it stayed at a steady 14 volts. Now the voltage is dropping and the rpm's are dropping to around 200-300 rpms then some times it will die in motion. I have replaced the alternator and had the battery tested they are good. There was low fuel pressure so I replaced the pump, still nothing is helping. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 50 mph, the security system warning indicator illuminated and the engine stalled. When the contact restarted the engine the headlights and instrument panel lighting became dim. The vehicle was repaired by a certified mechanic with the replacement of the battery. The alternator was diagnosed and was functioning properly. The failure occurred repeatedly. The contact detected that the failures were contributed to the body control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

The gas gauge became very inaccurate and then stopped working altogether. Then the alternator gauge stopped being accurate. Works sometime and others it indicates max amps. Checked with a meter and the charge, with motor running is 14. 2. My brother had a 2003 when the same happen, cost him 400. 00 to have instrument package replaced. This should have been a recall to replace defective instrument package.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It is a salvaged vehicle. Both the speedometer and alternator failed. The contact received a notice from gm, but because he owns a salvaged vehicle, the repair was refused. Gm stated that they were only responsible for smog regarding his vehicle. The purchase date was unavailable. The current mileage is 28,000 and failure mileage was 26,000. Updated 01/14/08.
