Transmission started shifting weard contacted dealership. They state this unit is not under recall but it is an 6l80 and it is all over you tube and the internet about failures that start with the pm valve and/or the torque converter housing that is stamped but mounting brackets are welded to it causing harded steel to meet stamped steel causing friction and wear that polutes the remainder of the transmission and causes failure before 100000 miles; usually just after 50000ish. When transmission fails it can cause loss of propulsion or collion.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes made grinding noises due to the brake pads rubbing on the rotors. The contact added oil to the brake pads; however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced five hubs, two rotors, four calipers, and two brake lines. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with vacuum pump failure and the vacuum pump was replaced. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to jim butler linn Chevrolet service (317 main st, linn, mo 65051) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty, and the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to replace the faulty parts with oem parts. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
The engine light has come on 3 times with a truck with only 9000 miles on it I took it to the dealership who gave me a code of p12a6 they told me Chevrolet is aware of this problem but has not come up with solution yet or even wrote a program to reflash the computer. Now I have a paper weight in my driveway and being that I live in a dual town trying to find a dealership that will fix it and provide rental car or truck. This defect can be multiple reasons with the engine harness wires chaffing or torque converter or transmission plus the whole electrical system not cranking over the truck from what I was told last time. Now I'm waiting till 730 to call a dealership see if they have a roll truck to pick it up and get it to a dealership where they can try to fix this problem.

The truck is jumping rpms I've had many mechanics look at it and even switched out parts out. I was told told it could be 4cyl to 8cyl adapting now I'm being told the torque converter is faulty . . The truck gets stuck at a stop light or feels like a hard pull when slowing down and sometimes even makes a clunk noise.
When driving the vehicle on a back road, it began to shudder and bog when accelerating. Torque converter failed and took out transmission.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, a warning light indicating that the transmission was overheating illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned-off and restarted the vehicle and continued driving. The warning light disappeared. The contact took the vehicle to pendarvis Chevrolet company, inc. (650 augusta rd, edgefield, SC 29824, (803) 639-8117) who flushed the transmission and removed the thermostat and plugged one line directly to the transmission. The failure recurred and the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer who then repaired the torque converter. The failure recurred whenever the contact would attach a load to the vehicle and the vehicle was returned to the dealer a third time however, the mechanic was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.
Transmission failed at 93k miles. Luckily for me, I was a month away from warranty expiring. However, so many people have ended up on the wrong side of the warranty I wanted to make sure I file a report so gm can maybe recall their weak transmissions or torque converter. Trans has been shifting and shuddering so hard from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd back to 1st. Was driving home from work on the highway and all of a sudden trans would not shift into 6th gear. When taking exit home, truck died. Restarted and got codes p0741 and p0700. Took to dealer and they replaced the transmission. Fluid smelt burnt and metal shavings in pan.

The clutch torque converters wear out so fast and they wear out so close to the end of the vehicles warranty.
Torque converter clutch suffered failure while driving, much noise and default to safe mode decreasing truck performance. Truck just reached 80k miles, less than five years old. The fix is to replace/rebuild transmission. Repair is stating that they are upgrading various parts within the transmission to prevent issue in the future. To me, this acknowledges a flaw in the design/construction of part. Recall should be issued to address known issues due to poor design or construction.
2020 silverado rst 1500 4x4 allstar with 8 speed transmission. At 4,000 miles developed a shutter in transmission and slipping and hard shifting mainly between gear 1-2. Bad enough when you start from a stop when it shifts you fall forward. The acceleration pushes you back and then it just slips to no where till it catches and goes. Contacted shop and was told at 1st oil changed they would flush the fluid per the service bulletin. This made it way worse. Shifting is more rough and shudder is more frequent. Took it back for the 2nd time and had to drive with a tech so they could experience the issue. It is going back to the shop tomorrow 1/11/2020 with only 7,500 miles with hopes of a new torque converter. This should be a recall and result in a class action. This issue is so common and this truck is brand new. Had it in shop with 2,000 miles with an oil leak.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle was shuttering. The contact mentioned that the next day the vehicle failed to shift gears. The vehicle was towed dan tobin Chevrolet, inc. 2589 billingsley rd, columbus, OH 43235 where it wad diagnosed that there was metal shards from the torque converter and the transmission needed t be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was willing to pay only 900 of the bill. The approximate failure milage was 136,000. The VIN was not provided. Ak.
Torque converter locking up on random occasions with no warning before shifting period very dangerous while in traffic or trying to turn. Gm told me they knows about this problem of course and said install a new transmission with updated parts that were bad from the factory.
Transmission problems including slipping, shifting harshness, clunking, especially on downshifts and slipping when towing. Clunking noise/feel when slowing down/stopping. Especially noticeable on hills, but present on flat and downhill roads at surface streets as well as freeways and highways. Problem first brought to Chevrolet's service dept at 7000 miles and told it's normal. Again brought to service dept attention at approximately 12000 miles and again told it's normal. Problem continued to worsen severely and again brought to service dept attention at approximately 15000 miles. Problem diagnosed as failing torque converter. This was replaced. Problem with transmission continues after replacement and at 16197 miles it is now back at the service dept. Transmission is the 6 speed automatic.
Torque converter gave out. The vehicle would make a loud vibration and cause the vehicle rpm to go up and down. I ended up having to replace the whole transmission.
This problem occurs after the vehicle has been driven any distance, but far enough to shift gears in the automatic transmission and when the auto engine stop is deactivated manually or auto engine stop doesn't activate due to driving conditions. When the vehicle comes to a complete stop the torque converter locks and causes the vehicle to lurch forward. The problem is noticeable in traffic, but more of a concern while precision parking and when moving slowly without throttle or brake being applied. This has happened in my vehicle and in all similar loaner vehicles that the dealership has assigned to me during service. Specifically, when parking the vehicle and when inching forward to a complete stop without brake or throttle, the vehicle will suddenly lurch forward without warning and hit the sign, another car, or curb. This problem is not intermittent and happens during every drive and stop.

2014 Chevrolet silverado transmission failure with under 96,000 miles. Freeway driving in moderate traffic when torque converter failed, which then caused transmission failure.
When I started to pull off from a red light driving the vehicle around 30-35 mph the tachometer starts jumping 150 to 200 rpms and a rattle starts coming from under the truck. I believe it is the torque converter starting to come apart. I've talked to several mechanic shops and they stated this was a common issue with these trucks. This truck has roughly 70k miles on it. Just as the warranty went out of course. When this started occurring I was starting to move at a red light when it changed to green on city street.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to dublin Chevrolet (2046 veterans blvd, dublin, GA) where it was diagnosed that metal shavings from the torque converter damaged the transmission and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer provided case number: case 9-5717232477). The failure mileage was 66,000.
I bought a brand new 2016 silverado in 2016 and have put 72000 (highway) miles on it. Took it in to my local chevy dealership because of a transmission shudder and hesitating while accelerating and whine right before shifting to the next gear. Torque converter is failing sending metal shavings through my transmission and destroying it. A bill of greater than 5500 for this transmission is absurd but not as crazy as a 3 year old transmission failing on you.
Ongoing communication between local dealer and chevy/gm executive support team to fix shudder/vibration is not resolved. Chevy states "normal characteristic" for this model vehicle, 2019 silverado 5. 3, 8 speed. I vehemently disagree. Gm approved torque converts swap and then problem got much worse. They now say, resolution is final, this in normal! pleaded with dealership general mgr, to contact district supervisors to re-evaluate. Now they are going to run pico test and comparative analysis against 2 new truck on their lot. My truck only has 6k miles and should shake and vibrate, but it does and getting worse. Harmonic distortion within cab getting worse. Seems the more miles I put on it, the worse it gets. After drain and flush of transmission, per TSB, now also had delayed shifting, and having to brake hard when downshifting because it wants to lurch forward. Frustrating at best, but safety and risk of injury are my immediate concern. Need help!.
Repeated attempts by jones chevy, sumter SC, they have not identified the vibration problems with my new vehicle. 22+ days in repair, multiple visits, and gm classifies harsh vibration as "normal characteristic" and closed the case, saying its final. I have contacted gm ceo with certified letter, discussed with exec. Customer support team, and posted on social media to find any solution. Gm customer service is the worse I have ever experienced. So far dealer has conducted transmission drain and flush per a TSB, changed torque converter, evaluated vibration with pico scope, and problem still exists and persist. Now today it's back at dealer for a prop shaft swap, from a new truck. My vehicle now has 6k miles, and problem started at 5k after the drain and flush. Gm says the vibration is normal because of the dfm, dynamic fuel mgmt. System. I say bs. They are wrong, and no vehicle should vibrate at low or high speed to the point you feel it through the seat, steering column, steering wheel and harmonic distortion in the cab. Gm knows what the problem is, they just don't want to admit. Next step, arbritration? any feedback is much appreciated to solve this vibration issue. Gm - do the right thing and issue a recall before someone gets hurt. Remember the ignition problem? this problem isn't going away.
2019 chevy silverado, 5. 3l with 8-speed transmission. Experienced intermittent transmission shudder at 32 - 44 mph. Vehicle serviced per gm ts bulletin to drain and flush transmission, replace defective fluid with atf mobile 1 synthetic. This was done twice and problem got worse. Now shudders constantly at 32-44 mph. Dealer was informed by gm tech that this is a normal characteristic for this model. I disagree! my brand new truck with only 5k miles should not be shuddering and shaking. Was told that the active fuel management system, 2 to 4 cylinder mode is suspect and affecting torque converter shudder. But this is normal? I have requested repair or replace or buy back and contacted gm corporate directly. Gm senior advisor team has not yet contacted me. I have refused to drive it, and left it at the dealership until resolved. They gave me a loaner to drive in the meantime. Appears lots of instances on the internet of similar issues and owners are not happy. Why hasn't gm engineering fixed this problem or issued a recall yet? I am currently awaiting responses from gm / chevy for resolution. This is unacceptable.
This truck is on its 3rd transmission. Both failed the exact same way. The torque converter overheated due to the v8 to v4 mode and warped the transmission. The first transmission swap was under warranty. The second swap was not. Which I had to pay 4800. 00 to replace. My mechanic told me this is a known issue with this model and they had to upgrade the transmissions. The second transmission that went in did not lat but 50k miles. Ridiculous. I do not drive my truck aggressively, nor is there any reason the trans should have failed twice with the exact scenario. It had increased rpms on the engine but truck did not move. When speed would slow down it felt like I was driving on rumble strips and I was on a back country road. I should be compensated for the second trans swap. Gm knew about this issue but never put a recall out. I am not a satisfied customer.
While driving the truck started making a weird noise and then would almost feel like u ran over rumble strips. Within a couple weeks the truck will now no longer switch gears. There are shavings in tranny fluid. Almost had an accident because the truck just wouldn't shift or go while on the interstate. Chevy has put faulty torque converters in these trucks and they need to be held responsible for fixing this problem. There are thousands of other people that have the same exact thing happen to them. Failure was at only 120,000 miles and our truck is very well taken care of, maintenance done, and was never ever drove hard.
Transmission experiences a shudder that cycles every 3 seconds. The torque converter had been replaced but after 45000 miles it has returned. Dealer has recommended a new type of transmission fluid replacement. Also had a afm lifter that collapsed and was replaced.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle shake and the rpm increased while driving. The contact took the vehicle to an unknown dealer, the dealer performed a diagnostic that located the failure code at the torque converter. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made a war of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000. Li.
The first set of brake pads were gm replacement, they did not stop the truck as well as the original. So I replaced the pads with raybestos brake pads, still not satisfied with the stopping distance. Again I went with napa ceramic pads they caused the breaks to squeal when the brakes were applied. Now my mechanic has replaced them with o relly name pads and the stopping distance is still increasing. The other problem was around 58,000 miles my truck began shifting hard and jerking. When I took it to deacon jones Chevrolet in smithfield nc, they replaced the torque converter at no charge. Now at 63,000 miles its doing the same thing. Gm states even if they replaced the part the warranty only covers to 60,000. Miles. When asked about the part warranty same response 60,000 miles. Checking with several mechanics in the area and on line both incidences seems to be a reoccurring problem for people who own trucks of this period. Please check into this.
6. 2l engine had faulty injectors and had to be replaced. Gm said my truck had a warranty block so I had to contact the bbb and go to mediation to get injectors replaced. Now I'm noticing a shudder (vibration) while driving with a fluttering of the rpms. All my research has led me to believe it is a faulty torque converter. My wife has a 2017 camaro that is having the same issue. Dealership stated that they are replacing the faulty torque converters in vehicles with 8 speed transmission, but will not replace mine because gm has put a block on my warranty. Gm cannot provide any evidence giving them reason to block my warranty on my vehicle.
Purchased my 17 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 on 11/28/17 and returned it to the dealership on 12/1/17. This was due to a severe shuddering & shifting in the transmission & severe shake in the front end at 70-90mph. They balanced & rotated the tires, saying the issue was fixed, I picked the vehicle back up on 12/4/17 but the issue was not fixed & an electrical issue had also occurred. I took the vehicle back on 12/7/18 with the same complaints regarding the transmission & shaking in the front end, as well as the electrical issue. The problem electrically was while sitting at a stoplight the bright lights flashed & the radio/navigation screen went blank. The dealership called me on 12/8/17, told me they had been unable to duplicate the issues, finding nothing wrong. I left it over the weekend, went in Monday morning & spoke to the service manager directly. He told me he had purchased the same vehicle with the same transmission issues. Said there was a possible fix by exchanging the transmission fluid & they would use a new machine pico to check it out. They had to replace the torque converter due to malfunctioning & perform a programming module update on radio, I picked it up on 12/22/17, issue with the transmission was still not resolved. I took it to a different dealership for transmission shudder, shift & shake issue most noticeable at 70-90mph, & radio issue. They were advised to perform a module update on the transmission & given 2 options on the radio, they chose to replace the screen. I took it back to that same dealership, module update made transmission/front end issue worse, especially coming out of a curve. They've replaced my 2 back tires said they were bad & should fix the shaking issue in the front end. Unable to duplicate transmission issues thus they cannot repair it. Owners with the same issues are being told gm knows but can't fix transmission issue.
