36 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/28/2017

I bought my 2014 silverado new . After 10,000 miles I could hear something in the drivetrain between 2nd and 3 rd gear make a moaning sound . Brought it to the dealership and couldn't find anything . This went on until 141,000 miles and the transmission came out . Had it rebuilt for $ 3,700. 00 and was told the torque converter caused the problem . Now I'm at 181,000 and we are hoping it's the tcm inside the transmission but if not who knows what this will cost . I think gm should be responsible for defective torque converters as I have read more customers have had the same problem . It would be nice to see some kind of reimbursement . I love my truck and have owned nothing but gm vehicles but this should not happen twice .

37 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Transmission shudder occurred at highway speeds in September 2017. Gm technicians said they could not find it. Shudder spread to all speeds - especially at low speeds going uphill. Truck would lurch forward from gear to gear and generally run with a constant vibration. In December 2017 gm technician replicated the problem and diagnosed it as a malfunctioning torque converter. I am now waiting for the new parts to see if the problem is fixed. The truck had no transmission shudder problems for the 1st 12 months I owned it.

38 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

Ever since I purchased my truck in early 2017, the 8 speed automatic transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear at low speeds has been extremely hard. It changes so hard, it feels like someone struck my truck from behind, and shakes the entire vehicle. This hard shift will take place on an upshift and downshift. On the downshift, my truck will lerch forward, concerning me that I may strike another vehicle unintentionally. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership regarding the problem on at least 5 different occasions. The last occasion, the chief mechanic called me and said it is a known problem, and Chevrolet has no intention of fixing it. He explained it involved the torque converter, and Chevrolet has moved on from that transmission. He also stated that my transmission should not be damaged from the shift. One service rep. Stated to me that my warranty is good for 100,000 miles, so don't worry. How can I drive a vehicle, when passengers become frightened from the hard shift. Most recently it has started to shudder through the first few gears and is extremely bothersome to drive. The dealership has made it clear that Chevrolet has no intention on fixing the "known" problem, which is dangerous. I have service records upon request.

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

Steady driving between 35 and 65 mph, the truck shudders and the rpm tach needle jumps. It does not do it while shifting but when running at a steady speed. My 4th time at the dealership and they are only focused on the vibration of the truck and are now replacing the third tire. I agree the vibration is bad but the shuddering is ridiculous. There is a technical bulletin for the silverado with the 6. 2 transmission with the exact same issues. I called the service tech who has my truck and he said "your truck doesn't have that transmission. " I said "I realize that rich. . . However it is the same issue. " he said as soon as they get the new tire in they are going to test drive it some more. Did I mention they have had it five days this time and they still don't have a tire. Also. . . According to the technical bulletin #pip5337d, the shudder is torque converter.

Failure Date: 12/22/2008

I have a vibration on my pickup that has always been there since it was new, but it got worse and happens all the time on Dec 22, 2008. It would vibrate around 65 mph but not often so I thought it may be road conditions. It has been at the dealer under warranty for a total of 8 days on 2 occasions. On the first time they replaced the torque converter and when I picked it up it was the same, I do not believe they even took it for a test drive. They have had it for 4 days this time and can not figure it out.
