Transmission failure resulting in loss of power. Was not able to accelerate up a interstate incline. With no area to pull over and heavy traffic it almost caused an accident. I restarted the truck and was able to put it in manual mode to 4th gear and made it off the intertstate. I did not notify any individuals and called a friend with a trailer to pick up the vehicle.

Gm has known defect w/ 8l90 transmission systems failing. In July this vehicle was serviced by a gm dealer receiving full transmission flush and preventative maintenance. Ever since (now 60 days) the truck struggles to shift and lurches forward in low gear. Upon taking back to dealer this week, the lone option is a full replacement transmission, nearly $6k of estimated cost. Truck is less than five years old.

Transmission always shifted hard and finally stopped shifting at all while in motion (backing out of our driveway). Despite taking it a chevy dealership for 3 years for maintenance, we were never told their was a known issue. When the transmission failed, we took it back to the chevy dealership and only when we took it to a transmission shop to get a second opinion were we told this was a known factory defect on several gm models. We ended up having to have the transmission rebuilt along with the rear end to the tune of over $5,000. Lemon law does not hold up because we did not have any work done under the warranty (which only covered the first year).

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing transmission failure. After the contact went back and forth with the manufacturer and dealer (bill cramer Chevrolet Buick GMC, 2251 w 23rd st, panama city, FL 32405, (850) 250-1403), they settled on trading the contact's 2015 silverado for a 2018 silverado with the same transmission failure. The contact researched that Chevrolet was served with a class action lawsuit for the transmission. The manufacturer wanted the contact to go through the same process for diagnosing the 2018 model as he did with the 2015 model. The contact would have to make an appointment with the dealer and have a senior advisor from the manufacturer call him back. The contact wanted to know if he should file under the lemon law with his state's attorney general's office. The failure mileage was 0.

With no warning at all, driving down the interstate, truck lost 3rd gear. This is the second Chevrolet silverado this has happened to for us (first time, we thought it was an isolated bad transmission) however, it is obviously due to Chevrolet making junk, and putting the passengers of their vehicles in danger. Driving down the interstate at 60 miles per hour, with a sudden transmission failure was extremely dangerous. I will be pursuing this further.

Transmission failed while driving. Lost reverse 2nd and 4th. Common problem with poor quality transmission components used by gm. Scum. Anyways, economy is in a recession and I have lots of bills to pay and now this one as well. Thanks. I laugh everytime gm's stock gets lower. They truly deserve it.
The transmission failed at only 45,000 miles. Had truck towed to dealer. They diagnosed the problem to be a broken forward clutch. Vehicle was out of warranty (6 yrs old), so we contacted gm directly for assistance. They refused assistance, due to age of the vehicle, ignoring the fact that it only had 45,000 miles on it. The repairs cost nearly $2,000. Gm also refused to warranty the labor costs of the job. The warranty after the repair job only covers parts for 12 mths / 12,000 miles.

Vehicle had 37, 351 miles. The mechanic at maroone Chevrolet said the problem was with the "clamshell". That it had come apart and there was metal throughout the system. They recommended a complete transmission change at the cost of $3, 377. 07. We went ahead with the recommended repairs. So far, no progress with complaint resolution through GMC.

Driving on a city street at 35 mph, transmission failed (sun shell gear in a4l60e gm transmission). Lost all drive and was bumped from rear, dented bumper only. Towed to a repair shop. Complete transmission replaced.
Transmission failure on 02' Chevrolet silverado at only 23k miles. Dealer recommends replacement. Many reports of failures on gm vehicles. . Please help us.
Heard several things coming from under the car while the automatic transmission was shifting, then a constant whinning sound with no power. Had to have the truck towed. Dealer looked at it and determined it was a transmission failure and the sun gear assembly had to be replaced. Costs were around $1600. The truck only has 66,000 miles and is not quite five years old (2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500).
Catastrophic automatic transmission failure at 68,128 miles. Independent repair facility repaired transmission. I have retained the failed component.
The manual transmission on my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a problem. When the clutch is pressed you can not shift, or it is very difficult to shift gears. And the dealers service department says Chevrolet designed all standard transmission vehicles to work this way. They say there is not anything to fix. I believe that since the transmission is hard to shift the transmission could wear out too fast, or and this is my big fear, the transmission could fail while the truck is being driven and a accident could happen, or the truck could break down in an unsafe place or time. I have had the truck in the service department at the dealer many, many times. The service advisor agrees that the truck doesn't shift like any standard transmission he has driven either. Yet, the official word is that this is normal, and there is nothing to fix. He says all the manual transmission silverado trucks shift this way. How dangerous!!! if someone is driving and needs to shift, yet the engine will not shift, there could be a wreck, the trucks transmission could fail, and leave a person stranded in a very dangerous part of town. I have the extended warranty, however, what comfort is that, if the trick has been designed for failure. This problem shortens the life of the truck.
(1) no events noted leading up to the failure. Normal driving conditions were implemented. Proper maintenance and intervals were observed. Warranty had recently expired. Mileage at time of failure was ~49,000 miles. (2) transmission failure occurred leaving family stranded in middle of traffic. After troubleshooting efforts from 2 garages, it was determined the sun reaction gear failed. This failure has no forewarning and is due to inferior quality of materials/parts used in the transmission. This event left my family stuck in traffic until, through trial and error, it was found that 1 gear was left semi-functional. The lack of reverse gear also put my family in danger while attempting to reach a safe area, out of traffic. Gm is aware of the issue as noted in numerous factory technical bulletins and conversations had between manufacturer customer service and myself but are unwilling to make any strides for correcting the issue or compensate for damages. (3) at my expense, the repair options were total replacement of total rebuild of the transmission. We opted to total rebuild for 2 reasons; first - the replacement was only available from gm and it could not be verified if the same issue would exist in the replacement; second - proper rebuild expense was for cost efficient. The original defective part is available.
The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact attempted to place the vehicle into reverse, but it would not move. The transmission failed and was rebuilt; however, it failed again within 2. 5 years. The failure mileage was 119,000 and current mileage was 159,000.
