I was stopped at a stop light and all of a sudden, the engine just revved amd revved and no drive only reverse, and it happened 4 times until tonight, 11/11/25 @ 8:38pm I am stuck at another red light and have to back my truck up to home depot and get a tow. Only a 5 year old truck with 71122 miles and always well maintained with papers and goes out on me. Not acceptable gm! you make things and used to be solid, like a rock trucks but now I feel robbed as a long time chevy fan/enthusiast but I may have to change manufacturers unfortunately.

While driving on the freeway accelerating the truck made a huge clunking noise and dropped speed instantly and I was unable to accelerate. The tow truck driver said it was a transmission problem. Truck had to be towed and is at the mechanic awaiting an official diagnosis.

When driving normal speeds to work on a county road, engine light comes on, service light comes on. There was a tapping noise and reduced power. Luckily, there was a sports field parking lot that I could pull into to get out of traffic. We had the truck towed to our house through our roadside assistance program so that we could determine what to do. If we had not been able to pull off the road as quickly as we did, we probably would have been hit by the semi that was barreling behind us. The truck had reduced power.

The transmission quite working while I was driving down the road. Took my foot off of the gas pedal and my truck bogged down completely and had no power to it. It is at an auto repair shop so I am unaware if it could be inspected under request. Took time but was able to safely get off the roadway and out of traffic. It did the out of no where. Started having some issues this summer but no warnings lights ever came on, so I didn’t think much about it. Completely stopped in the middle of the road and had little to no power from the transmission to the truck to move off of the road. My truck is currently in an auto repair shop waiting on a new transmission to be installed. I had it towed to an independent auto shop from where it stalled. There were not warning lamps or anything at the time of my transmission quitting. Truck started to run rough and shifting hard this summer but without warning lamps I didn’t take it anywhere. When running on the interstate it was shuttering which I thought was due to possible tire out of balance. It would also hesitate to take off when put into drive. It had several of the same issues that chevy had on other transmissions that were recalled within this same time frame.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and vibrated abnormally. In addition, the rpms fluctuated, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v797000 (power train), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The dealer informed the contact that the recall repair had been performed; however, the recall remained marked as incomplete. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall service report had been sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the recall service report had been received; however, the manufacturer advised that the recall could not be marked as complete. The manufacturer did not provide further information. The contact expressed doubts that the recall repair was completed effectively. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
I experienced a locking up or no power to the rear wheels. It was raining and the rear wheels would spin. I had no traction. I had to take a few turns and had to be careful or I would have fishtailed into other vehicles. When I stopped at a stop light/or sign then proceeded forward the rear wheels would spin in place. The tires wouldn't grab the pavement. This is the best way I could explain it.
My transmission started to make a rumbling sound intermittently while I was on the highway. It happened during normal highway speed and not dependent on acceleration or deceleration. I brought it to the dealership with 84,000 miles and they dropped the transmission pan. No metal found in the fluid. The issue was with the torque converter. I had my oil changed 1. 5 weeks prior with a 21 point inspection. I was curious if there was a TSB for this issue. I haven't been able to find a recall notice for this issue.
Complaint description on Tuesday October 28th, 2025 while driving to work, my 2024 chevy silverado ltz suddenly went into limp mode during normal driving. The truck would not go into reverse at all. I had to use onstar to call a tow from my residence because the vehicle was not safe or able to be operated. The truck has been at the Chevrolet dealership since that day and as of today (November 7th) it still has not been repaired. The service department confirmed it is a failed transmission valve body. Research shows this is a recurring and known issue on many gm trucks and gm does not appear to have a permanent fix yet. Component/system that failed: transmission valve body failure. Component is currently located at the gm dealership and is available for inspection. Safety risk: this failure caused sudden limp mode, loss of power, and inability to reverse while in active traffic. This put my safety and potentially other drivers at risk due to sudden unexpected deceleration and inability to maneuver safely. Problem confirmed: yes. Confirmed by gm dealership service technicians. Inspection: the vehicle is currently at the gm dealership. No manufacturer field rep, insurance, or police inspection has occurred yet. Warnings / codes present: the failure occurred without prior early signs that morning. When it failed, onstar diagnostics reported: p2732: transmission system — “engine and transmission system not performing as expected. ” p0700: transmission control module requested malfunction indicator lamp illumination. Emissions related dtc set in the transmission control module. Both codes triggered at the time limp mode activated. Best assessment: this appears to be an ongoing recurring gm transmission valve body issue affecting newer gm trucks. The failure caused a sudden loss of drive capability and is a safety hazard that requires NHTSA investigation.

Truck lost power and began to shake while on the interstate traveling at 75 mph. The check engine light came on. The screen also displayed a message to service the esc system and the parking brake system. The truck has been maintained at the recommended service intervals. The dealership said the lifters needed to be replaced as well as the electronic brake control module. With a cost of over $8000. The truck has 108,000 miles on it.
While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 high country equipped with the 6. 2l v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes p0304 (cylinder 4 misfire detected) and p050d (cold start rough idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted gm's technical assistance center (tac case #80413912). The service order report states: "due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called tac 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall. " the technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in gm's active propulsion system recall for 6. 2l engines. Suggests gm aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by gm in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on gm's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.

While driving the engine shut off without any warning lights which could have caused a serious accident causing bodily harm or property damages as I was unaware of the issue and was going 50mph at the time - this occurred on 10/23 I noticed a ticking and brought the vehicle to the dealer for inspection on 10/20, at the time of this inspection the technician said that they could not replicate the sound and I explained that this was happening at 3000 rpm. The technician said that I would need to bring the vehicle back and they would need to start to take apart my engine piece by piece and I said the ticking is part of the known lifter problem and the technician shrugged his shoulders offering no other options. That same day I took my vehicle to another independent shop and he confirmed the ticking is a known issue that occurs prior to the lifter collapsing. After the vehicle shut itself off, and I was able to restart the vehicle, many warning lights appeared on my dash, there were none there before, one of the codes that was flashing was esc and the vehicle began to lurch and downshift. I called my mechanic who said the code was to do with the electronic stability control system but I should be okay to drive until I could get to him for him to look at the codes. On 10/24 I took the vehicle to the mechanic and another code was for cylinder 3 misfire which he stated could be the collapse of the lifter and the codes will not clear. The vehicle now downshifts without warning, there is an engine knocking that is occurring and the vehicle is not safe to drive as the engine may seize at any moment.
8 speed transmission without any warning, started shaking and clunking and slipping while doing 55mph in traffic causing sudden loss of momentum. 8 speed transmission failure. Dealership says bad transmission control module and won’t inspect internal components. Chevy is still playing games with people with their defective 8 speed transmissions. They have not fixed all of their previous problems.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55-65 mph, the vehicle shuddered while the rpm was fluctuating. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in gm campaign number: n212328090 (8 speed reaction carrier failure). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
Driving at highway speeds, truck downshifted to low gear causing a sudden deceleration and check engine light appeared along with 'service transmission' message. Was almost rear ended by multiple cars, but was able to guide truck to the shoulder through traffic. Shut down truck and restarted with message still appearing although gear shifting seemed to be normal. After stopping at a gas station to look up error, on next restart error cleared and truck drove for almost a week without issue and ~300-400 miles. Once again driving at highway speeds the same scenario happened with downshift in heavy traffic and had to pull to the shoulder. Waiting to bring to dealer, but mileage on truck is just over the 60,000 mi warranty period. Codes on reader indicate p0700 and p0747.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission temperature message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with possible transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further inspection, the contact discovered that the transmission thermal valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired by the contact. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
Vehicle vehicle is shuddering while driving at speed limit as well as accelerating. Based on research, it is apparent that there is an issue with the torque converter in this year model of truck. I have found more than 50 individuals online who have dealt with the same issue.
Truck did not have reverse. Service engine came on after going forward and possible loud shudder like going over a pot hole. Not sure if it was a pot hole or transmission. Dealer fixed the valve body in transmission after 1 week.
1st gear to 2nd gear are slipping.
On Sunday October 12th, 2025, we were driving in grand rapids,mn when our truck (2002 silverado [xxx] ) suddenly lost power. We were on a main highway without shoulders. The truck would not restart. The truck would not shift out of park to be rolled/pushed off the road. After about an hour, a tow truck arrived and towed the truck to our home ($200). We connected the odb2 code reader and found code p129f. After a bit of research, this code is related to a failed fuel pump control module (gm 13544060). The module is superseded with gm 13554821. We found this fuel control model is the subject of a recall (n252516900) on various gm vehicles that share a similar body design and year to this truck with this exact module. A semi-local dealer had the replacement part (gm 13554821 - $60) and we were able to replace it Monday morning to bring the vehicle back into service. I am requesting the following - expand the recall to include any vehicles with this known-faulty fuel pump control module information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving at low speeds with light acceleration, the truck seems to sputter. When activating trailer mode this issue stops leading me to believe there is an issue with the torque converter. By searching forums, this seems to be a known issue with these vehicles. With it being as widespread as it is, I fell like this constitutes some sort of recall or customer satisfaction type of action.
I was driving on the highway doing 75 and the truck started jurking and slowing down by itself and getting loud. The display stated reduce speed and the check engine light came on. .
Ever since I bought the truck I have had a issue with the transmission after it heats up an around 57mph the transmission is stuttering like crazy fluids an filters has been changed an no change on the transmission operation. After talking to many shops states that my year model a style of truck has terrible transmissions this is a safety issue that needs to be looked in to. I’m scared to put my kids in my truck because of this. I have notified the dealer the Monday after I got the truck.
We are having 2 problems with this vehicle. The first is the key in the ignition is not always removeable when you turn the truck off. The second is we are told called the chevy shudder. It almost feels like the wheels pause for a micro second. It feels like the there is something wrong in the transmission, drive train area. The truck started doing this when it had less than 50,000 miles on it. It hasn't broke down yet but it wouldn't surprise me if it did any day now.
Leaking oil cooler lines that had a customer satisfaction campaign but it’s over and now they are leaking.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that once the vehicle had warmed up, while driving at speeds of 50 mph or higher, the vehicle shuddered abnormally while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. There were no warning lights illuminated, or codes displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the torque converter and reaction carrier had failed. The transmission was scheduled to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,200.
Front left cv axle is making a noise like a metal to metal noise. There was a recall on the 2019 for the same reason. Mine is a 2020. Same problem.
Transmission jerky or slipping.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and hesitated while shifting into gear. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the transmission was flushed due to a possible torque converter failure; however, the failure progressed. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where it remained for further investigation; however, no cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,265.
Issue: (1) was parking truck and as I placed the shifter into "r", it would not stay in "r" I could not engage reverse. After 3-4 times, I pulled straight forward and attempted to shift the vehicle into "r". It finally locked into "r" and I was able to back the truck up. I also experienced a hard shift when I had placed it into "d" to pull forward. Issue: (2) earlier that day, was as I was backing out of my driveway, I noticed my backup video, went out, and intermittently, came back on. At one point it displayed a circle with a triangle?.
The throttle body and valve body failed at 90,500 miles. When this occurred it went into limp mode and I could not travel ov 20 mph. Also would not go in reverse. This was very dangerous for me since most travel need to be done at high speed. Also not being able auto go in reverse has significant potential for danger. This failure has been confirmed at a Chevrolet dealer. The dealer diagnosed the issue and confirmed the problem. The failure came out of no where with no prior performance issue. The engine light came on and the limp mode message appeared.
Truck shudders when you try to maintain speed. The service engine light is on all the time. Rpms bounce up and down constantly. GMC dealership said it needs a new torque converter. It was $100 just to diagnose it!.
Front end, yes it is available for inspection upon my request. My safety wasn’t very safe the truck felt like the front wheels and back wheels were going to come out from underneath me. Vehicle has been to many shops and I have fixed some parts myself because of prices to pay at shops. The vehicle had at least two lights on the dash about the abs & stability track.
