Issue: (1) was parking truck and as I placed the shifter into "r", it would not stay in "r" I could not engage reverse. After 3-4 times, I pulled straight forward and attempted to shift the vehicle into "r". It finally locked into "r" and I was able to back the truck up. I also experienced a hard shift when I had placed it into "d" to pull forward. Issue: (2) earlier that day, was as I was backing out of my driveway, I noticed my backup video, went out, and intermittently, came back on. At one point it displayed a circle with a triangle?.

Got engine light and reduced power message. Took to my Chevrolet dealer engine codes p0700 and p0747 which are transmission control system malfunction and pressure control solenoid a stuck on. When this happens the truck stalls but keeps running in limp mode. I was told by Chevrolet dealer it was a common problem with the 10l80 transmission and it needed a new valve body installed. Because it is a common problem it could take 2 weeks to 2 months to come in and would be covered under warranty and drive the truck until it could be repaired,.
10 speed 10l80e transmission whining noise from trans fluid pump gears and bearing known problem in the silverados pleease see link below [xxx] this involves taking the gearbox out and replacing the gears very expensive. On September 16 2025 sudden loss of acceleration and reduced engine power with check engine light turning on. No issues or symptoms prior. Dealership is replacing the transmission under warranty.
Several times my transmission has began to shift hard miss gears while hitting the brakes. Lose of power/hard shifts/ not shifting when it’s supposed to/jerking and or harsh shifting slipping delay in shifting slams into gear check engine light comes on after check engine light is on it continues until codes r deleted and or battery power is disconnected. This is a problem with codes like 0700/0716/0796 for the tranny control system sticking malfunctioning happens several times in the last year about every 3-4 months.
No reverse in transmission and sporadic engagement and shifting in forward gears.

The vehicle has been exhibiting occasional hard shifts over the last 2-3 months. Over the last 2-3 weeks the frequency has increased. While operating the vehicle at approximately 30 mph the rear wheels temporarily locked during one of these events while my wife was operating the vehicle. There was no indication that this was going to happen and no indication after the event. We took the vehicle to the dealership where they performed a diagnostic but found nothing wrong. In the week since picking up the vehicle I have been operating it. I experienced two occasions where upon trying to accelerate at approximately 30 mph there was a severe jolt that caused the traction control warning light to flash. This was under minor acceleration just to maintain speed when going uphill. There was no indication prior to the event and once it had concluded the lights went off. I also experienced an occurrence of the rear wheels locking temporarily. I was traveling at approximately 40 mph on flat ground and gently stepped on the accelerator to maintain my speed in traffic. The rear tires locked for 1-2 seconds to the point the tires were squealing and you could smell burning rubber. There was no indication prior to the event that it was coming. Given my necessary reaction I was unable to see if there were any indicators or warnings present. Following the event there were no indicators illuminated. Outside of these events the vehicle seems to operate normally. It runs well and generally shifts smooth. However, the rear wheels locking up unexpectedly presents an unacceptable hazard that is not resulting in any evidence that the dealer can use to troubleshoot.

Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the service stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in an accident this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. I was at a stop sign waiting to turn left having to cross 2 lanes of on coming traffic and when I accelerated the trucks electrical cut out and forced the steering wheel to go straight I gave it more gas and the truck turned back on. On another day I pulled up and put it in reverse turned right and the truck shut off I had to put it in park and restarted it to back in my driveway. Gm need to fix this.

Transmission went out while driving the vehicle and left it stuck in the middle of the intersection we had to push it though traffic. It had no forward movement. Would only drive in reverse. No warning or anything just made a clunk and wouldn't move any further.

After completing a gm assisted engine rebuild the transmission oil pump is failing and transmission shifting era tic.
Truck has under 45k miles on it. After reaching 35-40mph, it began to shake and jolt. Once we drove approximately 20miles, the engine light began flashing, in addition to the parking break light turning on. The truck began to lose power and we were forced to pull over on the side of a busy road. After waiting a little bit, we were able to drive it to our local shop who advised us to tow it back the the dealership for repairs.
Transmission shifts erratically, sometimes violently. It seems to shift through several gears within seconds. There is no warning lights or codes that appear. I was rolling in line to exit a parking lot, going less than a crawl, and transmission shifted. It sounded like I had been rear-ended and vehicle lunged forward. There was enough distance that I was able to avoid the vehicle that was in front of me.
The transmission is making a clanking noise during the lower gears. The local dealer said the transmissions is "done for". The truck has around 125,000 miles on it. The truck is available for inspection. When checking for recalls, I saw the GMC were being recalled for the same issue.
Engine coolant valve failure causing vehicle to go into reduced power mode while traveling on highway causing vehicle to travel at a slow unsafe speed in relation to other traffic. Check engine light activated, reduced power activated. Chevrolet dealership confirmed engine coolant control valve issue. Engine control valve must be replaced before vehicle can be driven. Engine coolant control valve is on back order. No part replacement time frame due to back order. Safety concerns with reduced power mode on roadway with speed limits greater than 45 mph.
On the evening of August 27, 25, when exiting the highway ramp, the vehicle's engine suddenly stopped and stalled, the gear automatically shifted to neutral, and the hazard lights could not be turned on. After about 2 minutes, it restarted normally and turned on the hazard lights.
The transmission will down shift on the freeway losing power causing a safety hazard, engine rpm's start taching out & will not shift leaving you in traffic trying to avoid a collision.

Reduced engine power message pops up while driving check engine light stays on codes that came up for Cadillac converter and transmission failure.
VIN: [xxx] component: powertrain / transmission / recall remedy description of the problem: recall remedy applied in June 2025 failed. Transmission subsequently failed. On August 25, 2025, a mangino Chevrolet technician confirmed in writing that the failure was “related to the recall that was previously performed. ” my truck was previously in gm’s care at van bortel chevy (Nov–Dec 2024), after the recall officially opened on 10/24/2024, but the remedy was not applied at that time. I was forced to continue driving thousands of miles with the defect still present. Despite the written admission that the failure is recall-related, gm customer care has only offered a 50/50 split on the transmission replacement (my portion ? $3,950. 34 + tax) and is now attempting to reframe the issue as a maintenance problem. Transmission fluid service intervals are not the cause here — the federally mandated recall remedy failed to prevent the very failure it was supposed to address. This situation has left me without a safe, reliable vehicle. Gm has acknowledged the recall remedy failed but is refusing to take full responsibility. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate gm’s handling of this recall remedy failure. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The transmission is locking up at speed causing a significant jump/ lurch in the rear end momentarily that sudden causes lane change. The dealer is telling me this is related to the transmission valve body recall however I received no warning and my truck has never gone into limp mode even though the recall remedy was supposed to provide a 10k mile warning. It would seem the determining factor is not being measured correctly or there are other contributing factors that are not being considered. This seems very dangerous and happened six times over the course of five miles before I could get the truck home and off the road.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, after making a left turn at a traffic signal, the rear wheels locked up. The contact stated that there was an abnormal screeching sound while depressing the brake pedal in a panic stop, and the vehicle jolted violently. The contact stopped the vehicle with the engine still running and observed the "service engine soon" message displayed. The contact attempted to drive forward, and the rear wheels locked up. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an auto parts store. The contact stated that a store representative used a handheld scanner and was able to retrieve dtc: p0747 (transmission valve body #1 open). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 24v797000 (power train); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Stability track came on left me stuck a on train tracks and middle of an entersection.
Am writing to formally report a transmission failure in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and to request your assistance in addressing this issue. I purchased the vehicle on September 2020from suburu cobband it currently has approximately 143,000 miles on the odometer. Recently, the truck began experiencing serious transmission-related issues, including total failure. These issues developed without warning and have rendered the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to operate. After inspection by alm chevy, I was informed that the failure likely stems from a known issue with the torque converter or transmission valve body — problems that have been widely reported in 2020 silverado models with the 8-speed automatic transmission. I have also learned that gm issued a recall for certain 2020–2022 models due to excessive transmission valve wear, which may cause the rear wheels to lock up. I am concerned that my vehicle may fall within the scope of this recall or a related technical service bulletin (such as TSB 21-na-199). Given the seriousness of the failure, the relatively low mileage, and the widespread nature of these transmission problems, I believe this may be a defect in materials or workmanship. I respectfully request the following: confirmation of whether my vehicle is subject to any open recalls or service bulletins relating to the transmission. A warranty or goodwill repair of the transmission or related components. If parts are unavailable, an estimated timeline for repair or alternative transportation options. I am attaching copies of my repair estimate, service records, and proof of purchase. Please advise me of the next steps and whether further documentation is needed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a prompt resolution so that I may safely return my silverado to the road. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
General motors is selling vehicles that are unsafe, unreliable, and unfit for consumers. My experience shows a clear pattern of negligence, misrepresentation, and disregard for public safety. On or about April of 2021, I purchased a 2021 chevy silverado rst z71 from vetter chvrolet for about $56,000. Gm promoted this vehicle as safe and dependable. Within the short 4 years of owning this truck, I faced major failures: engine issues, transmission problems and electrical malfunctions causing the parking break to engage on its own, at highway speeds of 70-80 mph on which nearly caused a serious accident, and failed electronic stability control (esc) system. This system helps maintain vehicle control, and a problem with it can affect braking, steering, and handling, despite following gm’s maintenance guidelines, gm delayed repairs, denied coverage on certain failures, and left me with thousands in out-of-pocket costs. The vehicle remains unreliable and unsafe. For myself and my family, 2 children under 3 years old and one on the way. This is not an isolated issue—gm has a long history of recalls and defect cover-ups. These vehicles put lives at risk, cause financial hardship, and violate consumer trust. No one should fear for their safety in a vehicle marketed as “dependable. ” this has impacted me by having : • expensive repairs • loss of transportation for extended periods • ongoing fear of driving a defective vehicle with my family in it. Loss of use of my vehicle • fear and emotional distress driving an unsafe product I have contacted gm and the dealership multiple times. Responses were dismissive, repairs were inadequate, and gm refuses accountability. Requested resolution: full reimbursement for all related costs buyback (preferred) of the vehicle or permanent repair at no cost public acknowledgment and stronger quality control. Warning to consumers: think twice before trusting gm. Their failure to correct dangerous defects shows profits matter more than safety.
I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I've been experiencing with my truck's transmission. Recently, the transmission failed due to a torque converter issue, which has caused significant disruption for me. From my understanding, this is a known problem that hasn’t been adequately addressed by gm. As I'm currently in the process of getting the transmission rebuilt, I believe it is only fair that I should not have to bear the costs associated with this repair. I would appreciate it if someone from gm could reach out to discuss this matter further. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your prompt response.

1. Engine/transmission 2. While driving and acceleration vehicle stalls/hard shifts. The truck was running just fine one day then the next day upon starting the truck, vehicle warnings for "service" parking brake system and ecs started showing up and the truck started running rough, smoking exhaust, smelling, and the air conditioner went out. All at the time/day. 3. An independent service center provided a diagnosis that stated the "motor was shot" oil was getting passed the rings/seals and entering cylinder 6.
The transmission shudders during light throttle at cruising speeds and low rpms, tachometer show continuous jumps in rpm and vehicle loosing power. No check engine lights. Concerned that transmission behavior can make the vehicle a hazard on highyways. Shuddering and hesitation on acceleration. Transmission fluid was changed at 70k miles and symptoms still persist. Current mileage 71k.
The transmission started to shutter at 94,000 miles. Gwatney Chevrolet quoted $7,500 for a new transmission replacement. Had an in independent shop quote $4,670 for a reman transmission. I have only towed 2,000 lbs at a time in the past. This is the 1st time towing a 6,000lbs camper. It was only driven 800 miles with the camper in tow. The vehicle only has less than 95,000 miles and my transmission is shuttering and has metal shavings in the fluid. Needing a replacement at this time frame and mileage is ridiculous.
Transmission failure, I had to have the transmission replaced and no longer have it for inspection. I was on a one lane highway in franconia nh with guardrails on each side, and no phone reception. Traffic was trying to get by me including tractor trailers, we were horrified and couldn't get out. These 6l80 transmission in the chevy silverado, come to find out, have been failing for a long time. 2 of my friends lost there's also, all of us were between 100k-115k miles. The transmission shop I went to, and others I called said they can't believe there was never a recall, they get many of them. Zero warning, just quit. I take exception care of my vehicles regarding maintenance, always early, these are to expensive to repair when your on a retired budget.
Transmission is making rattling or ticking noise when accelerating , I'm getting hard shifting in 1st and 2nd and some random gears , I have been launched forward when coming to a stop , some hard shifting when kicking down to pass.
Component: faulty "coolant control valve" causing reduced acceleration, and check engine light. Fan is constantly on. Safety: can overheat, reduced acceleration can cause accident. Problem reproduced: dealer did check/confirm codes and errors warning messages: no warning or messages prior.

Vehicle check engine light came on and message displayed on dashboard indicating (loss of power) the transmission fluid temperature rose from 140* to 190* in seconds with vehicle coming to a complete stop while driving when trying to accelerate the vehicle it won't move but the engine rpm's were staying between 3 & 4 when accelerating.
Just hit 65k miles and have had a transmission issue where it shutters back and forth and was quoted 6k to repair it.
