Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owners have reported 6 problems related to ignition module (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 based on all problems reported for the Silverado 1500.
Vehicle's electrical system will fail while driving, it may fail during ignition, and it may fail immediately after shutdown. These failures are catastrophic. All systems in the vehicle fail at once. All steering and braking assistance, all lights, hvac, ignition, fuel delivery, all electrical systems are affected by this dysfunction. This is highly dangerous as it can and does occur while driving at highway as well as residential speeds. Associated failures include various dash modules unresponsive or off intermittently, stabilitrac service message, action needed message: roll down then up driver window, exterior and interior lighting including headlights flickering and dimming, frozen or glitched or otherwise unresponsive radio, steering wheel forcefully jerking without input from driver or road, traction off indicators. All issues are sporadic, chronic, and debilitating. Vehicle has delivered stabilitrak messages and momentarily tripped all electronics while driving as well. Not every failure is complete, some glitches in the electrical may persistently occur under normal driving conditions, this puts un due strain on the attention, mindfulness, and peace a driver is reasonably expected to achieve in any vehicle. This has also been a precursor to complete failure and great care must be taken to remove the vehicle from roadways and traffic.

This trucks module that controls the safety features and chimes not working, there was a recall notice for 2014-2015 number 14v301000 and number 14315. Date @6/6/2014. This truck is a 2014 but not included in the recall. Gm will no repair under this recall number. This needs to be recalled. It's a safety issue. It doesn't remind you of seat belts or doors still open or low gas issues and keys being left in the ignition or vehicle transmission being left in drive position with drivers door being open, which would allow a driver to get out without being warning that vehicle is still in drive and possible run driver over if driver leave there vehicle in this condition.
The radio will come on by itself with the truck shut off and keys out of the ignition. The radio changes songs on its own, freezes up and repeats music from ipod(s). Tried 4 different ipods, 2 different cables. Gm replaced the him module, main computer, and radio. They say their programming is not compatible with apple products. To date, the issue remains with the radio as gm says they can't fix it. It has been in the dealership 4 times for a total of 15 days. The issue with the radio occurs both when stationary and moving.

The check engine light came on while driving and when the codes were ran two codes popped up, p2534 (ignition 1 switch circuit low voltage 2. Ignition on/start switch low voltage. ) and code p069e fuel pump control module requested mil illumination. When I had the dealer check this they said that the fuel pump control module needs to be replaced, however the VIN number of my vehicle did not match that of the recall that is currently in place (bulletin no. 14515b from January 2015).

Multiple occurrences. Clock resets itself. Turned key to start, no dash lights, no nothing. . I retried after a couple of minutes, it started. Fuel pump stopped working, no power to it I was told. Fuel pump was new 2/10/13. They replaced the fuel control module 4/18/2013. Connections were cleaned and reset. This all worked fine until 3/12/2014. Same situations started again. But as before it would always eventually start. Same diagnosis, fuel control module and a some other expensive stuff. 3 weeks ago it didn't start, would grind with no fire. Fuel pump isn't getting power. I'm dead in the water. One of my sons works as a carpenter, welder and shipping specialist for a classified government facility. This facility has top notch mechanics to do all their maintenance including autos, going outside of the facility is not an option. These mechanics have 7 chevy 1500s of various years they have to keep running. They've offered that all of their trucks had the same issues as mine at one time. For the first 2 they did the module replacement stuff just like I did. Just like mine those fixes went south again. What they did then was to change out the entire ignition module with an improved version. They've done it for all 7 vehicles as the issues occurred, all are now working well, some for years. I'm trying that next. There may be some security items to fix. It seems to simple to me, but as I look at all of the interfaces of the vehicle with the ignition module, I'm giving it a shot. By the way battery connections are good, grounds are good, fuses are good, I have a basic 2007, manual windows and no remote stuff. If they'll let me I'll post the results.
