Speedo does not read correct, it gets stuck at various numbers. . . While driving or parked on or off (speed can be plus or minus actual speed by 5-55 mph at any given time. And you never know when, also the oil pressure gauge will go past the marked limit when the truck is off, no key in the ignition.

My daughter was driving down the road and speedometer began acting erratically. At a stop light speedometer reads 25 mph. Ignition was turned on/off with no results.
The 2003 chevy Suburban has an intermittent, recurring issue with the cluster that causes it to short out. There are many examples of this problem from other customers listed on the internet. In my personal experience, this problem results in electronic failures that present themselves in these ways:
1) the speedometer either fails to operate or displays the max speed. 2) when turning off the vehicle, the radio will automatically turn on and begin playing as your exiting the vehicle
3) when placing the key in the ignition, the automatic seat will begin moving by itself, does not remember the previous settings and will force you into the steering wheel. I could not stop the seat from jamming me into the steering wheel. When I contacted the dealership, they knew exactly what the problem was without even looking at the car. The reason they know about it is because they have replaced so many of them already. When I contacted gm, all they would do is offer me a one time service of $200 which would not apply to fixing the faulty cluster.

Dt: the consumer stated at 22,000 miles she was told there was a computer glitch in the vehicle. When the consumer turned the ignition off, the seat would shoot forward into the steering wheel. The controls for the seat work backwards. The consumer had to push the button forward in order for the seat to go back. She was told by her service dealer that there was a computer glitch in the program. Resetting the seat did not correct the problem. The heated seats came on by themselves.
Hard to shift into gear. Consumer had to put key switch into accessory position and then move shifter into neutral in order to start vehicle.

Problem: engine shuts off at any speed. Will restart. After numerous visits to dealer between April 99 and Jan 2000 and fuel pump replaced 3 times and problem continued. Problem would occur on interstate at high speed, or in the middle of an intersection during acceleration, or while idling. Loss of control a problem on winding roads or while engaging an intersection. Dealer finally replaced ecm (computer) in Jan/Feb 2000 after a letter to dealership problem corrected. Mfg. Extended warranty to 120,000 mi. Engine shut off and would not restart in March 2002 rear transfer pump replaced. In Nov. 2002, engine has begun to shut off again (at least 5 times) since 11/20. I anticipate a large bill from dealer to correct a recurring problem. Will take to dealer this week (12/2/2002). Dt.
