1 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

The Trailblazer died when my wife and children was sitting at a red light and when she started it back the motor was making a loud knocking noise. She pulled it to the side of the road and called a tow truck and had it towed into a garage. The mechanic said that the engine was shot. There was no indication anything was wrong when it happened all the gauges were showing everything to be good there was no noise in engine or any warning lamps lit up on the dash. We had the oil changed just 2-3 weeks ago. We have only had the vehicle for 8 months. Also, the driver side window switch has been acting up when you press the switch to put down the window it will not go into automatic down.

2 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/15/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While parked with the engine running, the contact heard a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician advised that the knocking noise was normal for the type of engine in the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the pistons in the engine were down sized, causing the noise. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

3 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/10/2004

Engine slippage, then started making a knocking noise. We took it to a private mechanic that informed us of a recall notice by general motors on the cylinder sleeve and that the VIN of our 2002 Trailblazer fell within the parameters of the recall notice. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership, who informed us that the tie rod went through the engine block. We are in the process of having a new engine installed. General motors will only pay for 30% of the repairs even though the engine has been well cared for, has 60,000 miles on it and mechanics have stated that the cylinder sleeve may have contributed to the problem.
