Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 3 problems related to engine rattling and whining sounds (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2nd time replacing clutch fan "68,000 miles" check engine light comes on. Loud noise from engine. Eventually goes into reduced power mode "max 10mph". My check engine light is on again and it is making that loud whirring noise again. I am expecting a third failure soon. This should be recalled.

High pitch whirring sound emanating from the front underside of the vehicle. Sound increased as acceleration increased. Difficulty in steering became prominent. Rack and pinion was leaking into the boot. Gasoline tank located on the driver side rear, when full, leaked gasoline.
On the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts there is a rattling sound (or light knocking) sound coming from the engine. It sounds like noisy lifters. It occurs most of the time, but not all of the time.
