Vehicle metal brake lines rusted to the point of failure. On a 1997 Dodge Caravan, the metal tube brake lines leading from the distribution box to the rear brake wheel cylinders rusted to the point that they failed under use. Vehicle brake lines had to be replaced totally, and the failure occurred without warning.

When I took the car in for tire replacement, the tire people showed me a leak on both rear brake cylinders. The front brake cylinder now also has a small leak from the gasket. The minivan has 25,000 miles on it and was purchased December 2000. It is driven on good suburban roads.
