Driver's side airbag light stayed on. Dealer made a diagnostic check and concluded that the airbag system in the car would be inoperable unless the airbag was replaced at a cost of $900. 00. When I protested I was informed that the manufacturer would pay for the airbag, but not the labor, $400. 00. Since this was a clear violation of vehicle safety on a 3 year old car, it would appear to be recognized by the manufacturer as such, then I appeal for a recall on the grounds of manufacturer's negligence.

Hi my name is lynneth vazquez and I purchased a 1997 Dodge Caravan for $3,600 and traided in my car which was worth $400 at least thats what the dealer man said. I brought back the Caravan the next day to the dealership because I was told they were going to fix some minor problems, including the horn that was not funtioning at all . They spent the whole day with the van and didn't do anything to it, then they said to bring it back the next day and told me that the horn was going to get ordered and that it was going to take a while because the part that they needed couldn't be sent via mail because it was considered to be explosive so when I decided to ask for my money back since it had a 30 day warranty they told me that they were going to fix it as soon as possible. I went to pick up my van and when I saw it they put it a different horn and told me that it would pass inspection and that they would replace the part that the van needed if I was willing to pay half on it. In conclusion to this the piece that they need is the clock spring which cost about $ 400 to $ 900 and they said that it was safe to drive the van with the horn that they put in instead of putting a new clock spring. They didn't tell me that once the clock springs breaks down the airbag , cruise control. And the radio wouldn't function properly. I don't think that I should pay for something that I think that they should've taken care of before selling that vehicle. Please help me with this matter I will appreciate if you can help me.
I have 2 Chrysler Mini vans one 1997 & 1998. We receivied a recall regarding defects which related to motor safety recall in some 1996 through 1998 minivans. Since my 1998 was experiencing the defect listed failed clockspring allowing air bag light to be illuminated and speed control system to be inoperative we took the van to a nearby Chrysler dear to be repaired only to find out our VIN number was not the one listed to be recalled. I do not understand when the recall states some 1996 through 1998 model year minivan's how do they determine which VIN number to be recalled. My 1997 was the VIN number to be recalled however my 1998 van is experiencing the recall problem. My 1998 van also has 78,000 miles the recall states if mimivan has 70,000 or less clockspring will be replaced without charge even if it appears to be functioning properly. My 1998 is not functioning properly. Chrysler has identified the problem states my airbag may not deploy in a frontal crash. Arbitary milage and VIN number deceisions by the manufacture should not cause the consumer to have dangerous and life threating parts in their viehicals.
While driving horn/cruise control failed and air bag light illuminated. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

The horn on my 1996 Caravan has stopped working; the air-bag warning light stays on all the time; the cruise control system is starting to fail. I saw the report that there have been complaints on newer models. I think the range of model years needs to be broadened. I have also seen reports of other 1996/1997 models with the same problems on internet auto repair web sites.
