I purchased a new van on July 5, 2013. On July 8, 2013, I drove 4 miles, and stopped at a red light. I accelerated to approx. 40 mph, when suddenly the van shifted to the right momentarily, upon which I regained control immediately. Suddenly, the van jolted right again, jumped the curb, climbed an embankment, and would not stop accelerating. I kept pushing the emc controls forward. . . . But it would not stop the vehicle. It is not that the vehicle kept accelerating, but rather, the vehicle would not stop accelerating. As a result, the vehicle only stopped when I crashed through a large evergreen tree (front right passenger area). The van continued to accelerate until I ran head first into a hardware store, which ultimately stopped the vehicle. There was an analysis performed, and I expressed great concern over the lack of information disclosed in the report. The accident occurred on July 8, 2013. Today is December 31, 2013, and I cannot believe that it is taking this long to replace a new van. There was information discovered from the initial mechanic who received the van after the accident, inclusive of photographs, who was told by adjusters to withhold and not disclose the noted information. This concerns me greatly. I do not want another person to endure what I endured, or worse, an innocent person hurt by equipment, or installation of equipment, that may cause a driver not to have control over his/her vehicle. In the report, the specialist used language indicating that the driver "lost control over the vehicle. " that is a completely erroneous statement. A thorough investigation needs to be engaged to determine why an experienced driver, who has an excess of 13 years driving experience with emc/aevit controls was placed in a perilous situation, where the braking system would not stop the vehicle, and the van continued to accelerate, until impact.

The van silently stalls. So far it has only happened at low speeds. When this happens it becomes very hard to steer and break. The first incident was during a u-turn with my 2yr old child and wife in the car. We ended up having to make use of the wheel chair ramp on the side walk. Mechanics have been unable to diagnose and unable to fix and this is still a problem.
Second time, no brakes no travel of pedal. Seems like different brakes would be in order.
As I was driving, my car would just die and everything would shut down and lock up. I thought I had run out of gas. It would start back up. It started doing this alot. I was on highway with a car behind me and a semi truck going 65-70 an hour and my van shut down and everything locked up. Very scary because I barely made it to the side of the road without being hit. Very close to being a serious three car wreck. Took van it and they said it was the key and extension switch piece. Cost me $610. 66. I did not have any more problem with it until about 3 months ago and it started doing it again( turning off while I was driving) I took it in again and they said it was the key again. They told me to take key ring off of my key and not have anything on it. Try that and see if that works. If not I would have to replace it again. Tried it and it worked but still shuts down every once in a while. Can not afford to have it replaced again for $610. 66. Obviously there is a defect with this key in my Dodge carivan since it has been replace and doing it again. I feel that there needs to be a recall with Dodge carivans and if so I need to be refunded my money. My aunt sent me an article out of the star business section on recalls and it mentioned Dodge carivans being looked into. Well, I am one that has experienced this and am still experiencing this after key and system have been replaced!!.

Vehicle started with doors suddenly and repeatedly locking and unlocking then drivers lock switch stopped working then week later passengers at the same time radios cd player started trying to eject cd repeatedly with out even being on or having one in it also at same time fuel gauge stopped working. Now this morning wife coming home from work braking system started to malfunction almost causing a crash. Upon simple web search this seems to be common occurrence with 2008 grand Caravans electrical system repeatedly hearing or seeing as the case may be a faulty tipm (totally integrated power module) as told by dealership mechanics. It seems it is causing so many different problems such as those just described to headlights shutting off, wipers coming on horn blowing ect, ect, ect. How many people need to die before you take action. A copy of this will be sent to senators, congressman, and news media maybe if it makes the news someone wont have to die due to failure to act by your agency or Dodge and Chrysler.
After refueling the engine cut off and lost all power in the van while turning into a parking lot. This happens consistantly after refueling. The van will begin to shake then cut off completely. I am able to restart it again and gain full power. Resently, it cuts off after refueling and in the rain.
While driving engine shut down and I did not know it until I realized I did not have power steering or brakes, while car still rolling I restarted vehicle. I received letter notifying me on a recall regarding this problem. I brought car in for repair. July 19 I brought my car in for oil change and told dealer that after recall repair my key gets stuck in ignition and cant turn car off unless I put vehicle in drive again and restart car and again try to shut off. Dealer said they needed to check the recall and possibly replace again. They said they would inspect win module and reposition for more key support. August 15, 2012 vehicle stalled again while driving. This is getting dangerous since I have 3 toddlers in car with me at all times - the reason for purchasing a Mini van. Dealer states they know I have been there several times for same concern but found no stored or active codes. They stated it may have to do with needing a software update and updated to latest level. Oct 22,2012 brought vehicle in again for 4th time with vehicle stalling while driving. Dealer decided they would keep my vehicle and gave me a loaner to drive home. The stated they needed to duplicate in order to fix. After driving 237 miles (warranty over in 6k miles) and contacting Chrysler on how to handle problem, they re-installed the safety recall again. The dealer keeps doing the same recall over and over with no resolution to this very scary stalling problem. Now Dec, my key again did not come out of ignition unless I restarted vehicle. Don't know where to turn for further assistance with ganley Dodge.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caravan. The contact was driving 50 mph when the antilock brake activated without warning, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the clock spring in the steering wheel. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that the engineering department would return his call at a later date and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000.
While driving the abs system activated even though the pavement was dry. The problem is that the abs system prevented the brakes from functioning at all and I rolled through an intersection even though I was pressing firmly on the brake peddle. The abs warning indicator eventually illuminates indicating something is wrong with the system however, I don't think it should have failed in such a way as to prevent any braking action from occurring. This problem has only happened once but I was very lucky that no other vehicles were traveling through that intersection at the same time that this problem caused me to roll through it while the stoplight was red for me.

2008 Dodge grand Caravan with mileage at 25,000 the brakes and rotors had to be replaced on both front and back at a cost of $815. 00. Not included in warranty even though vehicle purchased new in February, 2009. Right rear wheel became very hot and smoking. There was a terrible smell like metal on metal and when we put water on it - it sizzled. We still had 80miles until home and no garage opened on sat. Evening.
I have received a recall notice 3 times. I have contacted the dealer nemours times trying to resolve the issue. They are telling me that parts are not available. Also I have replaced the breaks 4 times the first time was at 17,659 miles. I also had to replace the upper cooling lines. I just noticed that the lower cooling pipe is rusting very bad to the point of failure. We had trouble with the electronics since the purchase of the van. We purchased the van brand new. The doors were locking by there self the heating/cooling controls had to be replaced. I would like to resolve these issues.
I complained of pulsating brakes and grinding on my brakes. Took vehicle to dealership repeated times. Was told it was brake dust. Ended up being warped rotors. Have had both the front and rear rotors replaced multiple times. Within 13 months. Rotors need to be replaced again. Dodge has admitted poor design. Ending up replacing rotors every 6 months. Had a 2008 Dodge Caravan with same problem. ## VIN failed ## Dodge grand Caravan 2010 ##.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for a routine brake change. Less than a month later while driving 20 mph, the brakes needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that he needed to replace the brakes and the rotors. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred less than a month later. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 21,414 and the current mileage 30,756.
The win module has been replaced on four different occasions. My vehicle stalled without warning each time. In one instance I was in the fast lane on the freeway! I received a recall notice after the second incident. On seven (7), occasions I have had to replace the brakes and/or rotors. These are very serious issues. Updated 11/04/13.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact was driving 5 mph when the brakes were depressed abnormally into the floorboard before the vehicle would stop properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 26,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Caravan. The contact was driving 10 mph when the brakes were depressed to the floorboard but the vehicle would stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 26,000.
Took vehicle in for regular maint. And was told brakes are metal on metal. This with only 20000 of highway miles. I had no expectation that brakes would be so bad so early with such light duty. Potentail disaster!.
When the vehicle had only 12000 miles my front tires were completely bare (like racing slicks). Was taken to 2 dealerships and they looked at the van and found nothing wrong that would cause the tire wear (alignment was fine). I fought and fought with Chrysler to pay for them, which they finally did about 3 weeks after the problem was addressed. Now my vehicle has 15000 miles and while driving all you can hear is noises (almost like road noise but its from the front end). Most likely, wheel barings, ball joint, tie rods etc. On 10/21/11, while pulling out of my driveway low and behold what do you here, nothing but the sound of griding brakes. No sign of brake having a issues the day before when driven. This particular van that I purchased brand new (with 2 miles on it) clearly is a lemon and has faulty parts or something majorly wrong with it. None of these parts of the vehicle should be going at this amout of miles. As always, Chrysler and its' dealers say there is nothing wrong with the it.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, she applied the brakes and the entire front end of the vehicle began to shake abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was told that the manufacturer put the braking system of a sedan on the Caravans. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred approximately five months later the vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic and the vehicle was repaired with a third pair of brakes in a three year period. The failure mileage was 17,000 and the current mileage was 68,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caravan se. The contact stated that the front brake and rotors was replaced at 23,000 miles and failed at 46,000 miles. The dealer was notified of the failure who advised the contact that it was not uncommon for the brakes to wear prematurely. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 46,050.
The brakes on the 2008 Dodge grand Caravan are the worst. Stay away from the dealer when you need to replace them they will rip you off. I brought my van there and they wanted to charge me over $900 for front brakes, rotors and a brake fluid flush which is !@#$%. The brakes wear out much too quick on this car and a recall should be issued.
My brakes need to be replaced at 16,500 miles on my 2008 Dodge grand Caravan sxt.
I have a 2008 Dodge Caravan with 35k on it. We have had to replace the brakes two times in this year. The driving done with this car is highway miles with little or no constant braking involved. I replaced brakes in oct 2009 - when I went to dealer in mid November was told that I should replace again as they were becoming unsafe.
We own a 2008 Dodge grand Caravan, and have had the brakes replaced 3 times with only 20,000 miles on the van.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Caravan. Whenever the contact drove the vehicle at any speed he noticed a squealing sound in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that all of the braking components needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 29000.
2008 Dodge Caravan brakes and rotors replaced multiple times with low mileage on vehicle. Purchased the vehicle in March of 2008 and had to replace the breaks and rotors for the 1st time in sept. 2009. The 2nd time was in Apr. 2010.
2008 Dodge grand Caravan, front brakes were replaced in less then 12 months, down to metal. Now right rear brake is bad, no pad left rotor thin. Chrysler said come in and pay for an inspection. Service person said she sees alot of this but no one complains and just pays to have repairs done. Internet message boards filled with Caravan brake complaints. 2 brake repairs in less the 12000 miles wrong.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated the rear brakes were doing ninety percent of the work when stopping the vehicle. The contact noticed the failure by the amount of brake dust on the rear wheel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer stated that there was nothing wrong with the brakes. The contact stated that although the brakes had not malfunctioned, he believed that the vehicle could cause a crash. The contact stated the rear brakes were wearing extremely prematurely. The failure mileage was 26,000. The VIN was not available.
I bought a 2008 Caravan from a local dealer, the first road trip we took the front brakes got hot and pulled to the left, causing the motor to loss power, we took it to the dealer to have it checked and they couldn't find anything wrong. I believe this is a safety issue and I am afraid to drive the van for long distance, what can I do?.
The brake rotors warp every 20,000 miles or so, so bad that the steering wheel shakes. This has happened on both my 2008 and my 2011 Caravan. Dodge has known about this problem for years and has refused to address it other than to give a discount only if you ask for it. Getting them fixed at the dealer is a pain cause they take the van for at least a day some times two. Also the wheel bearings on the 2008 did not last very long at all first set was replaced under warranty(37,000 miles) second set(68,000miles) was not. I have not had the wheel bearing issue on the 2011. The wheel bearings are sealed so it has nothing to do with the warped rotor issue.
There is premature wearing of brakes and rotors. If you go to this website you will see haw many people are having problems with the Dodge (grand) Caravan and Caravan brakes. It is horrendous. . Read more...

Grand Caravan sxt, 15,600 miles, front brakes and rotors are worn, and need replaced. Occurs when you press on the brakes can hear screeching sound and grinding. Chrysler is aware of the issue TSB# 05-006-08. But they make sure to limit their warranty to only 12 months, 12000 miles.
