Failure Date: 05/13/2020

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that his battery had died upon start of his vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who was able to recharge the battery. Months later, the contact stated that the same failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle jump started and taken back to his independent mechanic who charged the battery again. Due to the ineffectiveness of the charge, the mechanic replaced the battery. Upon research, the contact discovered that the change over motor linked to the four-wheel drive feature could engage independently while the vehicle was turned off. The contact then linked his failure of his vehicle due to the fact that he could hear an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle once the vehicle was turned off. The contact also stated that the svc 4wd service light would illuminate intermittently upon start of the vehicle. Gill Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (1100 s madera Ave, madera, CA 93637) was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. 4 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

Safety issue on my 2011 Dodge Durango. While driving home after work late one night, the Durango started acting up like it was possessed. The lights would go on and off, the wipers went on and wouldn't shut off, seats went back and forth while driving!, radio, heat, ac. I was in traffic and finally managed to move over to a secure location out of harms way no sooner did I pull off the side of the road then the Dodge completely died. I had to coast down a hill. Tried to turn it over and nothing. No lights no radio no nothing. It was dead. Had to have it towed to the dealership. The dealer claimed it was the battery, installed a new one and sent me on my way. Fast forward to less than 2 weeks later- same problem. Driving to drop off my 5 year old and it starts acting up again completely possessed. How is this safe? I made it to work with it going crazy. At lunch, I went to start it and check it out. Dead. Brand new battery dead. 400 bucks down the drain- when that wasn't the problem. Not to mention the 200 bucks to tow. I brought it to a little shop around the corner and they couldn't find the problem and towed it back to the dealer. And there it sits. No one can figure out what is wrong with it over there. It is really pathetic. So now add'l tow charges-$200, no vehicle to get back and forth to work and child's stroke therapists, and had to break down and pay for a rental. What a joke thanks Dodge. They are well aware of the tipm issues and refuse to recall any of their vehicles. This is a huge huge safety issue. Everything just dies. . The engine the brakes don't work nothing.

5 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Opened the drivers door after a storm and observed standing water in the drivers side floorboard. Tried to start but the battery was dead. (daily driver w battery @ 1yr old). Placed battery on a charger and was able to start motor. Engine was reving between idle and 1500 rpm rapidly and would not respond to throttle inputs. Instrument cluster lights all on and navigation display was on but not legible. Looked for the source of the water, and it appears to be coming from around the drivers side front pillar area and leaking down the inside kick panel.

6 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

This complain involve several issues that constantly happens. The first issue is that the interior lights and instrument panel lights illuminated intermittently and I can hear a buzzing sound when it does this. The second is that the battery dies and I have to jump start or charge it manually most days. Third, every day I have to pour coolant into my radiator because there is a leak somewhere either the water pump or radiator. Fourth, when it rains, water gets inside via the door seams. Fifth, then my radio/dvd player stopped working and I had to pull the fuse because it would not turn off. Sixth, my head lights goes very dim and even sometimes shut off. This is very scary in the middle of the night coming home from work. Seventh issue involves the engine stalling on several occasions, mostly when it’s pouring down raining.

7 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango 5. 7 and it has been having an issue with the battery continuously draining. It started in Nov 2014 when the battery drained and would not hold a charge. I let the vehicle sit until March 2015, when I need an inspection, the shop recommended I purchase a new battery. I did and the battery drained with 3 weeks, so I eventually schedule an appt. With the dealer to have a drain on the battery check, they sent the vehicle back stating there was no drawl on the battery, it sat for months again, because it drained back out. In Nov. 2015 I found out about the g07 instrument panel recall and took it back to the dealer for that. They claimed they repaired a wire in the panel and that fixed the drain, however I still lost power 2 weeks later. I then took it to another dealer to have the recall checked again, because of a dead battery again the headlights and interior dash lights would flicker on and off. 3 days later still nothing they stated they were unable to duplicate failure and they did not find any drain or flickering. The very moment I picked up the vehicle and drove it home with my headlights on they began to flicker on and off. Two days later my battery was dead again. This makes no sense to me that the dealer can not pin point anything, so I began to proceed to fix on my own, I have found that the headlight switch was shorted out causing the lights to go on and off, and I replaced it. I still have a drain somewhere though, battery died within 8 hours of the last start.

9 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Initially the SUV was very sluggish to start, the problem became worse to where the SUV wouldn't even start at all and would constantly try to turn over. This problem would get worse and make the SUV take about 3-4 time to crank before it would eventually turn over. This problem would continue fro about a week, eventually the battery went dead causing us to have to jump the car off. We had to replace the battery due to this constant drain you would always here the fuel pump tyring to prime in the rear of the SUV no matter what. Once an appointment was made with the local dealer and dropped off the call was received from howard wilson in flowood ms stating that the battery was too weak for them to even work on the car (this is when the battery was replaced) causing another out of pocket expense due to the recall. I was advised by one of the technicians from the dealership that the draw from the fuse would drain the battery. I eventually had the fuel pump replaced twice and was out of pocket over $800. 00. The last time the SUV was in the shop they replaced the pump and I was advised that they hope that this fixed it because they were not sure if it would or not.

10 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

My car wouldn't start and after checking the fuses and relays I found a relay that reset the dashboard alarm I bought a new relay and replaced it. Sometime later my car lost all power . Took my battery out and inspected and found that the battery was drained /bad. After buying a new battery my wife reported to me a noise coming from the gas tank area . After inspecting the area in question I took it to get looked at and found out that my fuel pump will not shut off and was the reason why my original battery died. After doing some research I have found the same problems with other Dodge Durango's and the root cause being the tipm. I don't want to spend the money on a test from the dealer telling me I have a bad tipm when I already know what's wrong. So where do I go from here? I spent good money on this car and I am in fear of my family's safety when driving this car.

11 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

I wanted to share with you my recent experience at my local Dodge dealer, spartanburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep first, I will never go to spartanburg Dodge again, for anything. They tried to charge me to correct a NHTSA recall (instrument cluster fire hazard), which they did complete. My cluster still tells me there are problems with 2 systems my vehicle does not have installed. Regarding the 2nd recall I had them address (fuel tank replacement). I brought me vehicle in with nearly a half tank of gas, when I picked it up it had approximately 1/2 gal. My on board computer told me I had 0 miles to empty. I was told they had no way to transfer the fuel from the old tank to the new, which is bs. They have to get the fuel out of the tank as it is against the law to dispose of the fuel, I suspect someone got a free fill up. In addition, I had the dealer had my vehicle for 4 days and still have not resolved the recall. When I came to pick my vehicle up the second time, they tried to charge me over $100 dollars for a "diagnostic fee" for rechecking the recall on the cluster, but I later found out they didn't do anything at all to the cluster the second time. When I told them I would not pay for the recall to be fixed they threatened to keep my vehicle, upon calling the sheriff's office to retrieve my property they changed their mind. They brought me the keys to my vehicle and pointed me in the direction of it. When I found it, the battery was dead from a light left on, no one came to help me get the vehicle started. I had to call my wife to come and give me a jump start. I would like to have this instrument cluster replaced as it should have been the first time per the recall. Thank you jamie allen.

12 Battery Dead problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango 5. 7 v8 it was parked in driveway and it was raining, the lights started blinking without the keys or any power going to the truck. I tried to move the truck into the garage to check on it and it started smoking on the interior and smoke from the hood. I turned the truck off and the engine kept running without the keys in the ignition. I opened the hood and removed the cables from the battery, the fire and police were called. When the police arrived they checked the truck and said that water was coming in from the front of the fuse box and that it may have caused a short that made the lights blink. My truck is currently in my garage and I am not driving it at this time I tried to turn it on just to warm it up but the battery is dead so I am not going to try and drive it because I noticed that a lot of people that experience the same problem ended up with a blown motor and I don't want that to happen to me.

13 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/23/2013

My 2011 Dodge Durango stalled one day at work when I tried to crank it. It took 3 times to start the engine and finally it cranked. Later that week while driving I notice the airbag warning light came on and then went off multiple times; it continuously did that until one day it stayed on and never went off. I took it to get it check and no codes showed. They stated nothing was wrong with it. So I kept driving until I noticed a humming noise coming from underneath the rear of the vehicle and it continuously stalled or didn't crank and that's when I had to have my husband jump it off. This continued for a couple of weeks. I took it to the dealership in which the told me the pcm module was bad but when they tried to program it, it showed that the battery was bad so I purchased a new battery. Once they completed it they stated that they started the Durango and it started without any issue but when my husband and I went to pick it up, it stalled again and it took about 10 minutes to get it started. I drove it for a few days until one day I went to the store and when I came out of the store it would not start at all so I had to get it towed to the dealership, it sat there for about a week until they finally diagnosed it as having a bad tipm module (totally integrated power module). The service rep at the dealership stated that the tipm module is on backorder (1352 ahead of me to be exact). There are lots of reports on the internet about Chrysler vehicles having a bad tipm. I think there should be a recall on it. I presented my concerns to Chrysler\Dodge about this and the only thing I got was an apology. Please, please investigate. Dodge is using a bad product and don't want to own up to it and the customers are the ones that have to pay for it.

14 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

2011 Dodge Durango. . . Trouble starting. We purchased it new in March of 2011. We have been having this problem since June 2013. It takes 8-15 tries to get the car started. It keeps getting worse. My car also has a "fan sound" after it is turned off. It runs down the battery and battery dies everyday.

15 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

Purchased brand new. First incident in may we used the key fob to start the vehicle and the vehicle ran for 5 minutes then shut down. The engine completely shut down and we were not able to start the vehicle using the manual key or key fob-vehicle having it towed. Unknown cause! in June, the vehicle was started with the key fob and placed my twin 3 yr olds in the car. The key fob was placed on the passenger seat in the vehicle. All doors were shut when I was walked to the passenger side when suddenly the doors locked and the vehicle shut off after 10 minutes, 122 degrees outside. There was no reason for the doors to all lock. Massive malfunction. I had to call the 911 and have the fire department rescue my children out of the vehicle! incident unknown next, for the last 2 months we are having issues getting the car to start with the push button, key fob and manual start. We replaced the battery. No fix. Dealership determine there is not a fix as of this point and handed us the keys and told us we would have to wait until there is a fix. They stated they will call when they determined why so many vehicles have this same issue. Electrical problem? after, still problems for 2m the push start and key fob start has gotten worse. It takes 8-15 tries to get the vehicle started! problem unresolved! next this past week having same starting issues, the cars has a "fan sound" after the vehicle is turned off. It runs down the battery and battery dies every day. Now, its back into the dealership again! the car does not start for them to evan look at it! end result! they think its an electrical issue, they think they might be able to fix the starting issue after the "part" comes in and could take months, knowing 1500 plus other vehicles need this same "part" they now, offered us a rental car that doesn't fit our family of 5! problem will never be resolved!.

18 Battery Dead problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/28/2004

Not sure exactly when the last failure was because I don't travel "all" the time. . . But when I do. . . Sometimes the emergency flashers come on by themselves and cannot be turned off. This is not good while traveling down the interstate highways. The flasher switch does not work any longer and the flashers cannot be turned off. I hear clicking noises under the dash and have even tried pullling fuses. . . You cannot turn the emergency flashers off. My destination is about 250 miles away and when this does happens, they may continue to flash all night long resulting in the battery being dead the next day. I have a feeling this happens even when I don't travel because sometimes when I want to go somewhere the battery is dead and the truck has been sitting in my garage all night. This is obviously an electrical problem that could eventually result in a fire or death. . . The dealer "maxwell Dodge" in austin texas is "special" and does not have to adhere to any "laws". They do not want to fix the upper ball joints on my 2001 Durango either unless I can leave it there "until they get around to it". They won't make an "appointment" for the 2 hour repair needed and insist that I bring it there and leave it until they ready to give it back. What a scam! I hope that you will review this matter and correct these issues with the unethical dealers that manufacturers continue to allow distribution and support of thier products. . Thanks, ricky greer 2001 Dodge Durango r/t 4x4 5. 9 liter VIN: 1b4hs28z11f603563.
