1 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/19/2018

While driving at highway speed, my vehicle stopped completely. There was no power whatsoever. I was able to coast on to the shoulder of the highway. The vehicle would not start. I called for vehicle assistance. After waiting several hours, the driver was not able to jump start the vehicle. It was towed to my regular mechanic. He was unable to determine the problem. One of his mechanics said that Ford had a warranty on the main computer. So I contacted the dealer, parkway Ford in winston salem, nc. Ford roadside assistance picked up the vehicle and took it to parkway. It was determined that the main computer had failed and drained my battery completely. The computer was replaced. This was not a comfortable or safe situation to be stranded on the shoulder of a major highway for several hours on a very hot day.

2 Computer Failure problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/08/2017

Computer failure: bad alternator (for which there is a recall) malfunctioned, while the vehicle was in motion, and at the same time, damaged the computer, causing the engine to shut down. While driving, multiple warning lights (seat belt, oil, alternator, etc. ) would flash on and off. I was turned into a parking lot and turned into a space, but the engine died and I coasted to a stop. Car would not start after that.

3 Computer Failure problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/29/2017

Driving locally and all of a sudden a whizzing sound from under hood. I pulled over noise stopped. Continued driving on 40mph road and battery light came on, rpm indicator erratic. Not too far from home an electrical fire smell coming from under hood. Made it home safely. Called Dodge dealership to check about recall, specifically the 2015 alternator recall to see if somehow my vehicle was missed on that recall. VIN was not included so took to mechanic. He has had an extremely time consuming and costly few days trying to repair. Seemed just like the alternator needed replacing but then he said battery was dead. Replaced with new battery and that was killed. He charged batteries separately and they were fine, soon as they were put into car they were quickly drained. He suspected computer system was shot. Called in specialist to confirm. Meanwhile I see there is an upcoming recall t36 for this exact sudden alternator failure issue (which mine should fall under) but notices not going out until 8/24/17. Absolutely crazy!!! I've read the recent complaints and some people were driving when their whole electrical system stopped working and car shut down. I'm fortunate enough that I wasn't driving while my computer system failed and also lucky that I was close to home when smell started, because according to the recall these alternators can start fires. How can they announce this recall mid July but not notify affected consumers for 7 weeks? right now my VIN is still not listed under any recall. It most better be or it will be handled in a legal manner. So far I haven't had my primary vehicle for 3 days, and is going to be at least 2-3 more. Not to mention the thousands that I have to come up with for parts, hours worth of labor, and specialist to reprogram new computer.

4 Computer Failure problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

Alternator failed over heating electrical wiring and causing battery and computer chip failure. The problem occurred on the road but I was able to make it to a parking lot. I did smell smoke and felt heat but there was no ignition of fire. My car was completely disabled. No electrical activity. The symptoms are the same as recall #14v634000.

5 Computer Failure problem of the 2006 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

My wife was driving the vehicle on a country road about 35 mph when the engine died and she had no power steering or brakes and had to drift to the side of the road. When she tried to restart the car the dash lights would light but the starter would not crank the engine. Shop says the computer has failed.

6 Computer Failure problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Initially in early July, 2014 my 2012 Dodge Durango developed a computer failure causing the battery to eventually drain, loss of engine power and ability to maintain or accelerate. Repair was made after the vehicle was towed to the local Dodge dealer, manfredi Dodge, staten island n. Y , and subsequently the battery repaired and the computer replaced. Shortly after the repair was completed the passenger airbag failure light would intermittently illuminate and the vehicle occasionally would not start. Another trip to the dealer and the passenger seat airbag sensor was reported faulty and the vehicle tipm sensor needed replacement or repair. Conferral with the dealer suggested that the tipm sensor be replaced rather than repaired to assure longevity of the repair and overall satisfaction. Vehicle is a lemon!.

7 Computer Failure problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/07/2012

I was driving down the highway when the vehicle powered down without notice. I lost my power steering and the powered brakes. It would randomly without any warning. Turns out it was the computer, and the mechanic said that Dodge is notorious for the computer failing. The computer is very close to the engine, and this causes the board to warp and connections to break. These cars need to be recalled, and this issue needs to be addressed, or it will get someone killed.

11 Computer Failure problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/04/2008

I have a 2001 Dodge Durango with 103,000 miles and the transmission has been replaced 3 times. Again it's bad, the computer is bad again (replaced twice) and now the air bag light is flashing. . . . . . . . . . . . I ended up buying a cheap car to drive since I could not afford to fix this truck, not to mention 10 miles to gallon. . . . . . . This truck is a complete piece of ?!@#$% and I would not recommend anyone buy a Dodge, they should go out of business selling the cars they do. . .

13 Computer Failure problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/01/2005

The contact stated while driving at normal highway speeds the vehicle stalled without warning. When the stalling occurred the vehicle lost power. The first time this happened the vehicle was taken to the dealership for diagnostic testing. The dealer flashed the computer, and determined this would fix the problem. The vehicle operated normally for one and half months. The stalling returned suddenly without warning , and the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time. The dealer determined the computer was bad , and it was replaced. Again the vehicle operated normally for two to three months, then the stalling returned the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a third time. This time the dealer determined the egr valve was stuck . Also, there was a short to the ground on the engine. The vehicle had the same type problems once again. Also, dealer replaced seat belt anchorage.
