1 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

In the past year my entire electrical system has gone haywire. First my passengers all lost their ability to use window controls, only the driver has control, but every once in a while it will work, pretty random. Then my left headlight went out. Not the bulb, the entire headlamp stopped working, and if I switch to my high beams the right one won't work. And now my read passenger break light won't come on. Also after I turn off my car completely, once in a while about 30 seconds later the radio will come back on by itself! we cannot figure out how to fix any of it. We've tried everything! all of this happens while car is in motion, parked and stationary ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

4 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/27/2017

I came out of a store and upon getting in my Durango I started it and noticed smoke and smelled a burning electrical smell. The hood wouldn't open because it had already burned through the cable that attaches the hood release. Within a few seconds the whole front end was on fire. I called the fire department and they had it put out pretty quickly. I've only had the vehicle for exactly a year almost to the day. The only problem we've had with it is the driver's side headlight went out. We had it replaced and it went out again within a couple of weeks so we had it changed again. I did notice that one headlight was brighter than the other but thought it was just different bulbs. Apparently it wasn't. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot next to a whole cage full of propane tanks now that's pretty scary.

9 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2003 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/10/2009

I have a 2003 Durango that has been showing some very unusual electrical problems. The headlights and dash lights will sometimes flicker at night. The door chime sounds like the speaker has a short in it. I noticed that my garage door opener no longer works and sometimes the compass and temp gauge in the overhead freezes. The worst thing that happened was the passenger headlight went out and refuses to work with a new bulb. I tested the circuit and it is dead. I looked into the issue and found out that it has a central time module that controls many of the electrical functions of the truck. Mine has all the classic symptoms of a bad one. I also found out that a few hundred Durango's and dakota's were recalled for this problem, however mine was not one of them. I have seen multiple threads on the internet of customers complaining of the same thing and Dodge is not replacing them. It is a serious safety issue as the headlights can stop working at night as you drive. I contacted Dodge and they said that they will review this problem and send me an e-mail with their decision in a few day's . This never happened. I have been loyal to Dodge for many years owning 2 dakota's, 1 ram truck and my Durango r/t. I am not going to buy any Dodge products in the future as I would like to be able to trust that the company that made my vehicle will do what it takes to fix a serious safety issue. It's as if they don't care about safety.
