The vehicle does not start when you press the keyless ignition switch. This happened last night in a parking lot, this morning in my garage, and twice today in parking lots. It also has happened intermittently over the past several months, but I didn't think anything about it until it happened four times in a row. I have had to press the switch several times to get the vehicle to start and remove the key fob from my purse. This was not the case previously. The battery in the fob is fine, as the remote start, remote lift gate and remote lock/unlock all work. Last night the vehicle did not want to unlock the door using the keyless method and I had to press the remote unlock button on the key fob. Also the easy exit seat does not move when you turn off the vehicle. This function has not been working for awhile, even though it is set to move. I feel that there is a problem within the keyless ignition module.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Durango. While turning the ignition key to start the vehicle, the contact heard a clicking noise and the engine would not start. The contact was able to start the engine after several attempts. In addition, while stopped at a red light, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the wiring for the fuel pump relay inside the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.
Vehicle does not always start the first time but stalls at random intervals. When the issue first started occurring, 2-3 times of pushing the ignition the vehicle would fire up. Now it takes 20-30 pushes before vehicle starts. Lately, I'm the last one to leave the parking lot. I recently called the dealership and inquired about the Chrysler p54 recall. "in the affected vehicles, the fuel-pump relay inside the totally integrated power module may fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. " I was told that my vehicle VIN does not qualify for the recall. I have a 2011 Dodge Durango with the 3. 6 l engine. My vehicle is stalling and the problem is getting worse.
After several instances of the car not starting for no apparent reason (I have push button ignition), I suspected an electrical problem. Today, upon arriving home and shutting my vehicle off and exiting I found that my vehicles fuel pump did not shut off. It continued to run for 3 hours, until I pulled the fuse that controls the fuel pump. This is not an uncommon problem with chryslers tipm in 2011 Durango models, as well as other Chrysler models using the same module. The danger that a defective tipm presents is quite significant, especially to those who use their SUV to transport their small children. It is incredibly unsafe to not address the faulty nature of a system that controls the electrical stimulus of a vehicle, and could potentially deploy airbags in a non life threatening scenario or stall the engine, or present another defect at an inopportune time that would result in injury. The auditing of these defective systems should be a priority and I most definitely do not feel safe transporting my family in this vehicle, given the high volume of complaints against the electrical and tipm system. Chrysler has a responsibility to investigate these issues and rectify the problems that their negligence has presented to trusting consumers. I thought the automotive industry realized that safety over profits was of monumental importance, not only for their profit margin but for their reputation. I'm pretty sure no one has forgotten the Ford pinto, it is a prime example in all business management literature of how not to operate in an ethical manner. Chrysler is openly neglecting the responsibility they have to provide a reliable product to their consumer, as proved by my inquires to their organization. Tipm is defective, it needs to be replaced on a mass scale, and Chrysler ignores the potential and actual damages.
The vehicle would not start. The engine would turn over but there was either no fuel or ignition spark. Continued to try to start the vehicle but refused to start. After about 6 - 8 minutes of trying, it started. The vehicle started every time after that but the next morning it refused to start. Again after 6 - 8 minutes of trying, it started and started each time for the rest of the day. This repeated itself each day. The dealer diagnosed it as the "totally integrated control module" failed.

2001 Durango 5. 9 r/t, head lights, interior lights, doors locks intermittently worked and then failed. The solution was to replace the ignition switch and the central timer module ( body control module). The module was then reprogrammed. According to the mechanic this is a common problem and was the subject of a recalled in latter year models. This is extremely dangerous when driving a night and the head lights go out.

1999 5. 2l 2wheel drive Dodge Durango. My wife was driving down the road when the car suddenly died. A "nobus" indicator came on the odometer and the power brakes and steering of course failed to work since the engine had quit. This very nearly caused an accident and forced her to sit dead in traffic for 10 minutes before the engine would restart. It happened three more times before she could get home, but fortunatley at stop lights and stop signs.

1999 Dodge Durango (5. 2l v8) car has stalled numerous times in heavy traffic and light traffic at speeds up to 75 mph as well as at a stop light. Stalls are unpredictable and very dangerous. My wife cannot operate the vehicle when it stalls due to the loss of power steering and boosted brakes. It is extremely difficult to steer and stop when this occurs. The fault is due to a defective pcm (engine computer) which overheats in high ambient temperatures (>75 degrees). Repair shop could not initially determine nature of failures and quoted a very high priced repair that would 'probably' fix the problem. I have determined that pouring ice water on the computer cools it sufficiently and allows the vehicle to start up after about 5 minutes. Replacing pcm costs $300 for diy or >$600 from a repair shop. Manufacturer has made no attempt to replace or recall this item.
2/27/07 purchases: 2/27/07 problem: engine light serviced: 3/06/07 repaired: egr valve, 3/09/07 problem: engine light serviced: 3/12/07 repaired: ignition coil. 4/06/07 problem: engine light/vehicle cut off/ serviced: 4/17/07 repaired: short out cam and crankshaft sensor. Due to vehicle having rough idle , needle jumping/vehicle shaking, vehicle shut down at stop lights. (5/01/07) returned vehicle to service due to shutting down when backing up/rough idle. (5/17/07) vehicle shut down on the expressway in front of a semi-truck, I didn't know if had shut down until the wheel became difficult to control. I coasted up the exit ramp and the vehicle start right up. Dealership requested to take the vehicle to another service center for repairs. (5/18/07) took vehicle a Dodge dealership, in which ,they stated that the vehicle has intermittent problems which were hard to detect. Diagnoses of the problem would be difficult. Also, stated this was the second vehicle in their service department with the same problems. To no avail they found nothing.

Intermittent and spontaneous activation of the windshield wipers and washers during operation of the steering wheel under normal driving conditions. Steering wheel sound system controls work erratically or in reverse of normal function. Ignition remains engaged until switch is recycled. Seems to be low temperature related( happens more often in the cooler am). Vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times for repair attempts. Clock spring, multifunction switch, individual audio controls, and the front control module have been replaced under warranty by the dealer with out correcting the problem. Dealer states that Chrysler will not authorize additional diagnosis. I am concerned that this is an electrical short in the steering column that may result in air bag deployment, or a vehicle fire, and injuries to my family. Chrysler reps will not address the problem when I have repeatedly attempted to contact them via their hotline at 1-800-992-1997.

Bought 2004 3. 7l Dodge Durango Jan 2004 . Within year, check engine light came on. Took it to arrigo Dodge, wpbch, florida. Left it for a few days, called to say it was ready. Reason for failure - bad sensor. Drove home, light back on. Took it to arrigo. They kept it for a week. They explained that the harness (electrical) had a short, so they replaced it. Got it back with the light on. They took it back into the shop for about 5 minutes then the service advisor took it back to say they just turned off the warning light. Within a month my mechanic told me that there is a vibration in the motor. By the begining of 2006, the vibration got worse. Eventually the vehicle broke down. By this time, my 75000 mile powertrane warranty had run out. My mechanic told me that there was sludge stuck in the oil pump screen and as such the oil was not circulating like it should. The night before I was supposed to take it to the dealership for diagnosis, I parked it in my neighbors driveway. Woke up early, went to the truck opened the driverside door and immediately smelled / saw smoke coming from under instrument panel. All the warning and ignition lights were on and speedometer was cycling between zero and 10 mph. . I disconnected the battery, which stopped the burning. Took it to dealership where they discovered that the module in the instrument cluster was burnt, and for the original problem , they found that the motor was ruined. As a result of all this I had to pay $800+ to fix the instrument cluster problem and my mechanic found a motor to replace mine at an additional $2500. I'm convinced the warning light was indication that something was wrong with the engine and had they not turned off the warning light, I would have paid enough attention to the vehicle to not wind up with a ruined engine. Dealer told me that there was recall for a capacitor in the instrument cluster but the recall was done on my vehicle before I bought it. Thus I had to pay for the repair out of pocket.
The central timer module started malfunctioning for no apparent reason. Headlights, parking lights, interior lights, windshield wipers, 4-wheel drive and other electric accessories stop working while driving vehicle. This happens with no warning. Disconnecting battery fixes these problems temporarily, but ignition chime goes off continuously while driving until all of the above accessories stop working altogether. Vehicle is past basic warranty, so dealer refuses to pay for the module.

While driving the vehile on the highway around normal operating speeds vehicle started to hesitate and engine light came on. This happened before I made my first payment. It has been repaired through warranty but is stating to hesitate and go out again.
When coming to a stop vehicle died. Once at a stop sign. Vehicle died was when the gas applied. There were no dash lights when the vehicle diesd this was a 2005 vehicle. There had been 4 stalling problems. The vehicle idles in high and whines. The idle is not all the time. Vehicle has been in the dealership for repairs 3 or 4 times. The climate was not a factor. The vehicle had contiually had ongoing problems. The dealership tried to fix the stalling problem. The computer has been reset , and an idle switch was added. Right now consumer is waiting for the tools from Chrysler to fix the recall part. The consumer called in advance for an appointment. Dealer kept the vehicle all day, but they vdidn't have the correct tools.
At 70mph, on I-75 in michigan '99 Durango transfer case blew apart causing vehicle to jump with smoke pouring out the back of the vehicle. Was barely able to get vehicle under control and off to side of road. Mechanic stated front driveshaft cracked thus maybe causing transfer case cv joint to go blowing apart transfer case. Another vehicle experienced a flat tire at high speed due to running over pieces of transfer case. Have spent over $4000 dollars in repairs to Durango in 3 years including (front driveshaft, transfer case, water pump, pcm, upper & lower ball joints, upper control arms, sway bar bushings, front rotors, brakes, etc. Only 78,000 on the vehcile when transfer case blew up. Can I file a claim for lemon law regarding ball joints. Uppers need replaced again.

I was entering the free way on 05/10 and my car died. It would not accelerate or move at all. I was towed to the dealer and they repaired it. They said that the computer died and they had to order a new computer. After receiving it back on 05/18 I drove it for 5 days and then on may 23 the car died in the middle of an intersection. It is now at the Dodge dealer where they are waiting for a part.
While driving the vehicle stalled in heavy traffic without warning, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the problem was diagnosed as an intake and electrical component failure, both diagnosis were wrong and as a result the vehicle stalled again, finally it was determined that the central computer module and pick up plate was the problem and they were replaced, the consumer is requesting reimbursement for unecessary repairs and rental car fees.
Vehicle is currently at bigelow motors in belleville,NJ (973) 759-4220 ,waiting for a computer to be delivered. Also, there are four other Dodge Durangos' waiting for the same computer at this dealership.
Consumer has a problem with vehicle stalling without prior warning. Vehicle started jerking and it stopped in the middle of the road. Consumer notified dealership, and mechanic told him that they couldn't duplicate the problem. The dealer replaced power train control module, time and alarm module.
Vehicle will not start due to security system alarm failure caused bt defective computer.
Engine operating computer failed. Yh.
