2 Shift Linkage/cable/rod problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

The contact owns 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while reversing and then attempting to shift into drive, the gear shifter would not function as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer, where it has not yet been diagnosed. The contact was informed by the tow truck driver that the shifter cable had detached and that there was a recall from the manufacturer regarding the shifter cable. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

3 Shift Linkage/cable/rod problem of the 2015 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/30/2022

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and running, she attempted to shift to drive however, the gear shifter would not go into drive. The contact stated that the gear shifter would move but would not go into any other gears. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission shifter cable bushing had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 18v471000 (power train) because her VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

4 Shift Linkage/cable/rod problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/25/2021

Car was parked, got into it put the shifter down and nothing would happen with the car. It appears there is a issue with the shifter cable. There was a recall for this model if it was built between may-Sep 2013. This model was built in Jun of 2014. Same issue and model built at the same plant. Since it was built about 9 month later they (Ford) will not cover the fix.
