2 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/05/2018

The vehicle tremors and shudders while driving. It started just a little over 100,000 miles. It feels like you're driving across a rugged or bumpy road, but it's the entire vehicle that shakes. Fords diagnostic was concluded without the transmission fault light or ce light on acknowledging an issue. They kept for days and ran several tests. The mechanic could tell by driving it a few times that is has what he called the transmission shudder. if he knew what it was and mentioned how common it was on my model, then why is it not under a recall? after research, I have read other experiencing the same complaints. Also, why after driving 12,000 miles after the diagnostic not a single light has indicated an issue. It just continually shakes and I have absolutely no trust for it to take my family and I anywhere. It's my daily driver but I only live 4 minute sfrom work and that's already risky to me.

3 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

We have a new 2016 Ford Escape. After about 1,000 miles noticed a shuddering of the transmission when shifting. It happens when we shift from park to drive, park to reverse, or reverse to drive. Took to Ford service station at about 3500 miles as it became a real concern. Tech could not find problem. Checked social media to see if others were having same problem with transmission. There are numerous complaints regarding this transmission issue. We will continue to take the Escape back to Ford as it appears to be a complaint of many 2016 Ford Escape drivers with these vehicles. The transmission could fail at any time while driving this vehicle. Ford needs to be made accountable as they continue to sell these vehicles knowing this problem exists.

4 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Purchased 2010 Ford Escape XLT in April 2015. (1) vehicle had sound coming from engine when accelerating. Issued fixed by dealer replacing belt tensioner but noise has since returned. (2) vehicle already had or developed constant vibration at idle when in drive and foot on break and gets worse with a/c on. Took to dealer 3 times who stated they replaced right engine mount and rear transmission mount but vibration continued after repairs. Service dept tech stating that there is a strong vibration but that they are unable to determine engine vibration but that vehicle is operational. Vibration is very strong and almost feels like engine wants to turn off at times. If transmission is put in neutral or park then vibration is gone and not noticeable while driving. (3) transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd is harsh and delayed at times causing a jerking motion on numerous occasions during city driving and transmission occasionally jerks when put in reverse but not always consistent. Safety concern is vehicle feels as if it may shut down while this vibration is being observed and causes safety concerns when driving vehicle and that transmission may fail soon. Purchased at fiat of fresno, fresno CA.

5 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/27/2004

2001 Ford Escape began having transmission shudder during shifting at approximately 20,000 miles. At 30,000 miles, dealer performed transmission fluid flush which resulted in the shudder going away. Recently the shudder has returned. The vehicle has approximately 56,000 miles. The transmission failed while traveling at highway speeds resulting in a sudden loss of power. The rpms suddenly jumped up to between 5000 and 6000. The vehicle is no longer driveable.

6 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/15/2004

Purchased Escape new in 2001. In 2002, with 30,000 miles, transmission had a severe shudder, so I took into the dealer and was charges over $100 for a transmission flush. Shudder came back about 3 months later, went back to dealer and they said that another $100 transmission flush was needed. I did not agree and left. In June of 2004, without any warning, transmission started whinning and would not shift. I was driving in the city at slow speeds. Managed to get it home(20 miles in about an hour!) and parked it. After that, it would not move at all. Had it towed to transmission shop(dealer wanted $120 just to run a check on it) and they said it needed a new transmission at a cost of $2600. Did not have the money, so it has been parked now for almost six months. Transmission is the cd4e, a problem child for Ford. I contacted Ford and they acted as if they had never heard of such a problem, and said they could not help me. Now, still making payments on it and with only 84,000 miles on it, I have no recourse but to let it sit until I can save the money to have it fixed.

7 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/19/2003

Transmission shudders and shakes when accelerating on highway, will not go into reverse when in four wheel drive half of the time. Ford service never finds anything wrong with it and says since there are no codes onto the computer it must be ok.
