While driving down hill the vehicle was revving up to almost 5rpms while breaking. . . Was not shifting into lower gear. . Pulled in to get gas. . Went to back up with reverse. . Then shifted gear into drive . . And the vehicle was still in reverse. . . Pushed the shifter to park and then back into driver and car was still driving in reserve. . . Pushed back into park . . . Switched seats with my husband . . . He got into driver seat and the shifter was stuck in park. . But was not registering on dash board. . According to the dashboard it was in reverse . . . Husband reversed the car into a parking spot . . He kept trying to pull the shifter to go into drive. . . But it was locked on park. . . So he manually went in to shift the gears and was able to move the shifter manually . . . But it still was not recognizing it on the dashboard. . . There was no warning sign . . . No alerts on the dash. . . . While husband was trying to get the shifter to register on dash. . . All lights on dash started flickering. . . So then we thought it was referring to the battery. . . Because soon after there was no powered at all to the vehicle. . . But the vehicle was still moving in reverse. . We put e brake on called a friend and had him jump us . . Did absolutely nothing . . . So now car is stranded in a parking lot until tomorrow. . . All this going on with an infant and 5 year old . . In freezing cold weather. . . Something needs to be done with these Ford Escapes before someone gets killed! for the amount of complaints I am seeing on this feature with the 2015. . You would think something would be done. . . This is dangerous and. Absolutely uncalled for. . . Get these damn cars off the market!.
I was driving down the highway at about 65 mph when all of a sudden out of nowhere I couldn't accelerate anymore it was almost like I was stuck in neutral but I was clearly in drive. I began having other drivers honk at me and trying to pass me, I had my daughter in the car with me, it was really scary. I could have easily been in a accident. I pulled over to the side of the highway, turned my hazards on, and called a tow truck. The mechanic said my transmission was done and I needed a new one, he also said this is a common problem with the Ford Escapes. I repaired it it cost 5600$. The part that bothered me most was when I contacted Ford they didn't care one bit. I feel this is a safety hazard and Ford needs to recall this part and make it right and stand behind their name, because I guarantee they are fully aware of this happening and yet fail to recall it and fix it.

The transmission shift link bushing wore out my vehicle has less than 15,000 miles Ford dealership in Ford motor company tell me that there is no fix for this there is no recall. When I search the national transportation site I am complaining on right now, I see no recall about it yet it's the same exact recall on other 2014 Ford Escapes the minute I put my VIN number and it says that I'm good to go and says 0 un repaired recalls but the same issue is happening why aren't they fixing it for free why is there no recall. I stopped put the vehicle in park, so it was stopped went in the store came out and shifter was stuck. Because of the issue it could have had extreme cost of towing to the dealer ( Ford). They alerted me no bushing replacement, no recall and only they replace the whole shifter cable 4. 5 hour job $61. 00 part! how many other seniors were treated this way over a $2. 00 part and ten to 15 minute install! I used to be proud to be an american! forgive me if I went long!.

Computer diagnostics results found transmission a-1 cell defected in two areas causing my 2012 f-escape limited the inability to send proper signals for the engine to receive power/energy necessary to drive. Transmission is stuck in 5th gear. My SUV has under 60,000 miles. I was told by Ford dealership the transmission has known about the defective transmission but, has yet to be recalled. Since, I my extended warranty has ended. I have no coverage for this most expensive repair for any/my automobile. My car is now considered worthless for a trade in or to go towards a new purchase. Please send me a conformation of my complaint with an explanation of how my situation can be rectified. In regard for description of car performance, my car rolls out if parking,/or at stop lights by heavy gas revving, once on highway going 59-60 mph car drives as nothing is wrong due to being stuck in 5tg gear. Please report my complaint so Ford manufacturing can resolve and appropriately pay reparations for repairs, rental, towing, and loss wages due to no transportation to and from work. I consider this to be a safety hazard since I could not excellerate proper speed limits when stopping, pulling out into traffic, or after coming to a stop at traffic lights or off ramps with oncoming traffic. Respectfully, Ford owner. Dec. 1 2019.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. When the contact shifted into drive, the gear became stuck in reverse. When the gear was placed back into park, it seized. The contact stated that the failure was directly related to NHTSA campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). The vehicle was taken to ntb where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable was disconnected due to bushing failure. The repair would cost $500. I purchased my 2014 Ford Escape in April 2017. I also purchased the Ford protect 75000 mile extended warranty. From time to time I would notice a hard shift or slip. I was getting close to my warranties end and brang the vechile in to the dealership from which it I had purchased it from. They said they updated the pcu (which after researching is Fords recommended fix). Couple weeks past and its still doing the same thing. Warranties over not my problem is what im told. Both from the dealership and Ford. I have a recall from Ford do to shifter cable bushings being faultly. Were your car could roll away due to being in the wrong gear. But the kicker is they have not yet provided a part and you can get it fixed and be reimbursed or always use your parking brake. Which im sure is great for hot rotors and breakpads. And this is not the only problem I have. My vechile now has quite a few issues. Which include stalling when backing up shifter stuck in park (finally when it does release slams into reverse) randomly draining battery because car is in power saving mode not starting because if hill assist mode? backup cam intermittently not working touchscreen displaynot working or black. All these problems seem to be common among 2014 Escape owners when reading online forums for both owners and mechanics. Yet Ford states that even with the recalled issue. No consumer complaints or injuries have been filed. I will be document every occurrence from this day forward.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While reversing at unknown speeds, the gear shifter became stuck in the drive position; however, the vehicle continued to move in reverse. The brake pedal was applied, but failed to stop the vehicle. The emergency brake was engaged to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to san tan Ford (1429 e motorplex loop, gilbert, az 85297, (480) 821-3200) where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
Purchased car used about 3 years ago. Have had very hard shifts 1-->2, but transmission was checked at time of purchase and I was told it was ok. At time of purchase car had about 30k miles on it. It now has 51k miles. Shift is now extremely hard 1->2, 2->1. Car got stuck and would only go in reverse last week and I ended up stuck on a ramp in a parking garage. I was unable to get the car to drive formward and it took 5-6 tries. Car was then stuck in first gear for about 2 miles, then suddenly shifted and was normal. It has lost all forward motion at times suddenly while driving on the street, car unable to shift. Now needs a new transmission with only 51k miles on the car. It has never been in an accident and is driven very lightly. Extremely dangerous to have a car come out of gear (?) while driving in heavy city traffic.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the gear shifter was stuck in the park position. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (randall Ford, 5500 rogers Ave, fort smith, ar 72903), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, shook, and sputtered. Eventually, the shifter became stuck in the neutral position. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shift cable fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 102,000.
While in motion at highway speeds the car jolted and the engine provided no power the the wheels and the wrench light illuminated. After a small amount of time the car jolted again and power was restored to the wheels. When car finally stopped and turned off and back on again reverse would not work. After taking the car in to a Ford service station, the transmission was found to be stuck in fifth gear and chunks of the transmission were found inside of the transmission fluid which resulted in the need for a new transmission. .

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the transmission failed. The contact stated that the vehicle became stuck in the drive gear. The vehicle was towed to mike dorian Ford of clinton township, michigan where the transmission was rebuilt. The dealer repair the fractured shell casing and the fractured support bar but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000. Ad.
On Friday 8/11/06 I was on my way to work driving my 2001 Ford Escape (with 5-speed manual transmission). I was going at around 45 mph in a busy road. Suddenly there was a total transmission failure and my vehicle came to an instant total stop. There was screeching of tires and I was very fortunate not to crash and that the vehicles behind me did not hit me. It was also a matter of luck that there were no persons killed nor injured. My car was stuck on gear and could not be pushed forward or backward, so it had to be towed with a platform truck. I bought this vehicle new in 2001 and have been the sole owner. I have given this vehicle all of its recommended maintenance every 3,000 miles. I informed Ford motor company about this failure and they were not helpful at all. I think the general public has to be informed about this safety risk with 2001 Ford Escapes.

When trying to shift gears it gets stuck. When the gear is in reverse if you put your foot on the gas pedal the engine just revvs. You have to slam the gear shifter up and down to get it into the drive position.
